Into the Darkness

You wake up. The clock says 9:54AM. You have already missed your first lecture. You try to decide if it's worth it getting up or carrying on sleeping. [[Keep on sleeping|Passage 1]] [[Get up and get ready|Passage 2]]

You fall fast asleep. [[''Bam!''|Passage 3]]

You wake up and go to the bathroom to get ready. You wash your face, brush your teeth, this time you actually remember to floss. Afterall dental hygiene is very important! Back in your room, you try to decide what to wear. You start looking around, shirts and trousers on the floor, nothing seems to be very organised but you do not seem to care. You pick up a pink t-shirt from the floor, you put it close to your nose to see if it smells. It's okay. Okay, so this sorts this out. Now for the bottom half. You pick up your favourite black ripped jeans and you put them on. You go to the door, put your trainers on and check yourself one more time before heading out. You look somewhat presentable. You are woken up by a loud bang. You open your eyes to see what is happening and you notice two shadows behind you. You turn around and suddenly your head starts hurting. You notice that there is blood on the sheets, fresh blood. Is this your blood? You think to youself, as panic starts erruping. Things start getting blurry, you start losing balance and consciousness. The sun is shining bright, there is a slight breeze outside, but it's a hot June day. You feel the heat from the sun going through your pale skin. You can hear crickets making their usual cricket sounds for this time of the year, here and there you hear bird songs. Everyone seems to be happy. It's the summer vacation for most, so of course people are happy. Not you however. You still have to go to lectures and do coursework. You wish this was just over with so you can just stay at home and watch your favourite anime and play your favourite games. Moments later you feel this pressure around you. You look around and notice people panicing, looking up towards the bright blue sky. This piques your interest and you do as they do, you look up. Surely that can't be... but there was no warning, nothing, or did you simply miss the warning? You were never a news person. The massive object, surrounded by flames, falling with such speeds towards the ground... towards what seems to be your location... a comet. You die. [[Open your eyes|Passage 302]]

You are surrounded by darkness. You appear to be floating, there is nothing but darkness. All you see, all you feel, everything is just darkness. Suddenly something appears in front of you, you try to reach it. It's a bright light, it's small but it's clearly visable in this void. The light shines and in front of you appears a silver haired angel. She seems kind, beautiful, you look at her silver hair falling down her back and her chest. You notice her while dress, its a long white dress, that goes all the way down, covering her legs completely. Her hands beautiful, long and her skin looks as if smooth as silk. Around her neck, a beautiful necklace. It falls all the way down to her breasts... You follow it to the very end... //DON'T LOOK!// You say to yourself trying to divert your look away. This is the most beautiful person you have ever seen in your life you think to yourself. She is simply perfect. [[Try to talk to her|Passage 303]]

You try speaking, but nothing comes out of your mouth. You start to sligthly panic. The angel speaks to you. Directly to your mind. You can't figure out how you can hear her when she isn't talking. Are you imagining things? Has this object messed up with you? That's right, your blood all over the bed sheets... you think to youself, remembering your last moments on Earth. Alive. 'Do not worry my dear. Everything is going to be alright.' You seem to have calmed down. The calming voice of the angel makes everything seem alright. Her gentle features remind you of that time when you were just a child and you were alone in your room during a thunderstorm, scared and your mother came to calm you down. Your mother was a very special woman, you loved her so much, and she loved you even more. You miss her. The Angel smiles and her words sound into your brain as if her thoughts and your thoughts have become one. 'You are in a dimension where those that die end up to be sorted,' she speaks to you. [[Sorted? What does she mean by sorted?|Passage 307]] [[Wait, how did she know what I was thinking?|Passage 308]]

With a bright smile the woman starts talking 'I am an Angel. I am the one that those that die see before they move on.' //Move on? Move onto where?// 'That depends on your life choices so far, of course!' She exclaims. //Wait, did she read my mind?// you keep thinking to yourself. 'There is no need to speak here, I know what you are thinking.' //Wow, that is sick!// You get excited. [[But what did you mean by life choices and it depending on that?|Passage 313]]

"Yes, you have passed on." explains calmly the angelic being //But why did I have to die? I still had much to look for, like eating ramen, my weekly show episodes, how am I going to watch all of these? What about all of the games I'll never get to play, all the concerts I'll miss? What about...// Your thoughts get interrupeted. "Your time had come. Now it's time for you to choose. Would you wish to be reborn in a different world, or would you wish to go to Heaven?" she asks [[A different world? What do you mean different world?|Passage 310]]

'Everyone that dies, needs to be sorted. If they have sinned during their time on Earth, they will be punished and sent to a place you earthlings call "Hell". A place that is much worse than what you would define as Hell. If they have been good true to themselves and others when they were alive, they are given an option. To be reborn or to go to "Heaven",' she explains. [[But why did I have to die?|Passage 309]]

'There is no need to speak. I can see what you are thinking. Everyone that dies, needs to be sorted. If they have sinned during their time on Earth, they will be punished and sent to a place you earthlings call "Hell". A place that is much worse than what you would define as Hell. If they have been good true to themselves and others when they were alive, they are given an option. To be reborn or to go to "Heaven",' she explains. [[But why did I have to die?|Passage 309]]

//I still had much to look for, like eating ramen, my weekly show episodes, how am I going to watch all of these? What about all of the games I'll never get to play, all the concerts I'll miss? What about...// you keep replying to her in your thoughts when she smiles and stops you. 'Your time had come. Now it's time for you to choose. Would you wish to be reborn in a different world, or would you wish to go to Heaven?' She asks you. [[A different world? What do you mean different world?|Passage 310]]

'If you choose this option, then you will not be reborn in the same world as you were born in. There are countless other world that people live in. They are different from one another, things look different, there are different creatures, there is magic and countless other options,' she says softly. [[So I can go to a world where there is magic?|Passage 311]]

'It's not up to me where you end up, but one thing is for sure, you will be born in a world different from the one you lived and died in, one where I'm sure you will belong. One where you will find happiness,' the Angel says softly with a smile on her face. She looks stunning and ancient. Not ancient as in old, but ancient as in powerful and mighty but also kind and caring. [[Get reborn|Passage 312]]

The Angel smiles one last time, looks you in the eyes, calms you down and lifts her hands up. A light appears from underneath you, you try to look down, but you cannot control your body. No matter how hard you try to move, it's like you have lost all control over you muscles and limbs. The last thing you see is the Angels beautiful and soothing smile. [[Wake up|Passage 314]]

You wake up confused. It's an uknown place, you have never been here before. Your head hurts, you feel like you've been hit with something heavy and have a concussion. You try to get up and move around, but your body feels heavy and everything seems to hurt. It wasn't just your head that hurt, your whole body felt numb. You come to a realisation. You remember the Angel, the things she told you, and the... the... Yes, you are dead. You were killed by an object falling from the sky. [[But where are you now?|Passage 21]]

Were you not supposed to be reborn in a different world? If you remember how you died, does that mean you were sent to Heaven instead by mistake? Is that even possible? Could the Angel have made a mistake? You keep thinking to yourself, trying to figure out what is happening. Why you were here, where even is here. You finally get the strength to get up and look around. This does not appear to be Heaven, at least not what you've imagined it to be, if it even existed of course. You look at your surroundings. It appears to be a small building, perhaps a barn. It appears to be empty with the exception of the golden yellow hay that's on the side of the barn. There is a big red door in front of you. You go to the window and look through it. All you see is an open green field as far as the eyes can see. You notice a few trees in the distance, but nothing else. No one appears to be outside. [[Open the door|Passage 22]]

You open the door. It makes a creaking sound as it opens. You look around you to see if anyone has heard that. You don't see anyone, but you notice a small house to your left. There is a path from the house towards the barn that continues to your right. [[Explore the house|Passage 24]] [[Take the path to your right|Passage 25]]

You keep staring at the falling object, look at it appear bigger, it's growing, it's getting closer. You realise it is really heading straight for you but at this point it's too late now. Your feet are frozen, you are unable to do anything but watch as it appears bigger and bigger. The object is meters away from you when you realise what is happening, when you start recalling your life up until now and that if you have just kept on sleeping maybe this would not have happened. It is too late now, however. You are about to get hit by this falling object, by this comet. This is it you think to yourself. [[Face your destiny|Passage 7]]

The object falls to the ground, leaving a hole just where you were standing. You saved your life, but the story will not progress anymore. [[Try again|Passage 4]]

You go towards the house. Once you reach the front door you look around you, just to make sure there is no one there. You appear to be alone. The house seems to be a normal house; small, with a front door, average height windows, a roof... you know everything that a normal house has, this one does as well. You are starting to feel the heat, it reminds you of Earth and your last day alive. It's quite hot, just as it had been before you died. You head down the road towards the unknown. It spans as far as the eye can see and then it dissapears after the horizon. You take a deep breath and prepare yourself for what is to come next. As much as everything seems to be Earth-like, you can't help yourself but feel anxious and worried. [[Move down the road|Passage 250]]

You try to open the door, but it appears to be locked. You try once more, the door does not open. You try forcing your way with the door, but it does not even budge. [[Try to look through the window|Passage 27]] [[Turn back and leave|Passage 25]]

You go to the window and try to look through it. There doesn't appear to be anyone inside of the house. The room you can see through the window is empty, as far as people go. You notice the brightly coloured walls and the dark furniture that is positioned in the middle of the room. [[Try to open the window|Passage 28]] [[Leave whilst you still can|Passage 25]]

You begin exploring the world, it appears the same way that your previous world did. It's bright, green, with tons of trees. The sun is shining and reflecting off your skin. It's warm, hot in fact. You begin feeling more at home, more at ease. You keep walking down the road, not seeing anything. There is only a long dirt path that should be leading to a town or at least someone that you can talk to. The night comes and you start feeling hungry. You start setting a camp, trying to find anything that can serve as shelter, big leaves from the trees around you, wood and sticks for a fire, rocks to help keep the fire from escaping. As you manage to set up, you realise you have not eaten in a very long time. You begin feeling hungry and you try to look around for anything eadable, you start thinking that you do not know what dangers there are in this place. How will you defend yourself if someone or something comes at night. What will you eat. You begin exploring, looking for food anything edible. You find some berries that look very nice. To your surprise, the window opens and you try to climb through it. After a little struggle, you manage to get inside the house. You look around you once more, making sure there is no one. You take a second to calm down, you breathe in and out a few times, calimng yourself. You begin to realise, this is actually a normal house. You are in the living room, there is a televison, a couch, everything you would find in a normal household. This surprises you, and you start wondering, what is happening? Have you dreamt everything so far? But that wouldn't explain you being in this place. Is this a dream? Maybe you are still dreaimg and you will wake up soon. You try pinching yourself, you feel the pain, but the world remains. You pinch harder. It hurts, but nothing seems to happen. Maybe the whole pinching yourself thing was a myth. You enter the room. You look around you and realise this is a kitchen. It's tidy, with a lot of cupboards, an oven, a sink, a microwave everything you can find in a normal house. At this point you are wondering if this is actually a different world. There is no one in here, so you look around to see if you can find something to defend yourself with if it comes to that. You open some of the cupboards and find a kitchen knife. You take the knife with you. [[Go back|Passage 31]]

You leave the house through the window again. Now it's time to take the road and see where that leads you to. [[Leave the area|Passage 25]] [[Change your mind and go back|Passage 31]]

You try to open the door and you succceed. You enter the room and it appears to be a normal bedroom. You do not notice anything suspicious. The room is extremely tidy, it doesn't even seem like anyone lives there. You notice the big bookshelf, filled with so many books that it takes you a few looks to go through them all. You have never seen that many books in one place. Mostly because you don't really read books, nor have you actually been to the library that is within your university. All you know is that it is the biggest library in the country or so you've been told when you first came to the university. [[Head back|Passage 39]] [[Try to search the room|Passage 40]]

You try the door and this one opens. A normal bedroom. Not very tidy, but normal. There are clothes on the bed, nicely folded. There are bags on the floor, that seem to be packed with clothes and other items. There is a bookshelf, which seems to be rather empty, which to you doesn't seem normal nor abnormal, as you are not a book person. [[Search the room|Passage 41]]

You are back in the hallway, looking at the remaining door. [[Try to open the door to your left|Passage 37]] [[Head outside|Passage 35]]

You start searching through the room. You try the wardrobe, which appears to be mostly empty with the exception of a few towels and a single coat hanging from the top. You reach for the coat and try to see if there is anything in the pockets. They appear to be empty. You proceed with your search. You try a few more places, but the room doesn't really have much in it. [[Head back|Passage 39]]

You start looking around, opening wardrobes, looking through items. Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary. You go towards the bags and in one of them you find a weird looking book. On top of it is a five leaf clover and when you open the ancient looking book there is a lot of writing that does not seem to make much sense to you. As you focus on reading, you do not pay much attention to your surroundings. Suddenly you hear a scream. [[Turn around|Passage 42]]

You turn around to see what is happening and you see a female figure. The female appears to be frightened by your presense, so you try to say something but you cannot speak. You just look at her. The female is tall, blonde, with blue eyes and is only wearing a bathing robe. Before you can further assess her, she opens her mouth and speaks to you. 'What are you doing here?' The female says, looking worried and shocked. [[Uhm.. I.. I'm not sure.|Passage 43]]

'I thought there was no one here...' you stutter trying to speak Angry, the female asks 'You thought there was no one here, so you entered my house?' 'Yes. I mean no! I mean yes! I mean... I don't know how I got here, one moment I was home, then the next I ended up dead and then...' as you try to explain, you remember the Angel and everything that had happened. 'Not only are you a creep, but you are also crazy. Get out of my room! Get out of my house!' she shouts You try to run out of the room when the female stops you 'And give me back my grimoire,' she adds You appear to be confused for a second, but then she points at your hand and you realise she is talking about the book. You hand the book to her. She grabs it and points towards the door, silently reminding you to leave once again. [[Go downstairs|Passage 44]]

You are finally downstairs, confused as to what has happened. You try to think what your next move will be. You just entered someones house, almost saw them naked and you were going through their stuff. Not long after, you hear footsteps. They are getting louder and closer. You turn around and you see the female, dressed, looking at you with an angry stare. You try to decide what to do, but before you can do anything she opens her mouth to speak to you. 'Who are you? Why are you in my house? Did 'he' send you?' She asks quickly, awaiting for an answer. [[Lie|Passage 45]] [[Tell the truth|Passage 46]]

Calmly you try to tell her a story she will believe. You are improvising as you go. 'My name is Tenshi. I was being chased and I thought hiding in this house would be the best option. I am sorry for what I have done. I am a simple merchant, some thieves were chasing me, they managed to steal my caravan with all of my items and they thought I had something else valuable on me, which is why they were chasing me.' 'And do you? Do you have something valuable on you?' Asks the woman looking at you, searching for something that could be considered valuable. 'No, I do not. Everything I had was on that caravan' you quickly reply, trying to sound convincing. 'Of course.' she sounds suspicious. 'Come with me to the other room, I need to talk to you,' she adds and points to the door leading to the next room. [[Go with her|Passage 450]]

'My name is Hiro. I woke up in the barn outside the house, when I saw the house I thought I'd try my luck and see if anyone is there and figure out what has happened. I was hoping I'd speak to them and gather some information,' you tell truthfully. 'So you just woke up in my barn and you don't remember how you got there? How convincing!' Whe woman doesn't appear to believe you. 'I'm telling the truth! I do not know what you mean by someone being sent after you by 'him'. I died and then I spoke to an Angel and then woke up in the barn.' You try to explain what had happened, but she isn't buying it and why would she? You don't buy it yourself, let alone someone you just met, after intruding in her house. 'So you died and then woke up in my barn? You also spoke to an Angel? Let me save you the trouble - you are a drunk. Get out of my house!' The woman gets angry and tries to grab you by your shoulder. As quickly as she grabbed you, her hand moved away from you. She seemed shocked. 'What are you?' She shouts, still having that shocked impression on her face. [[What do you mean?|Passage 47]]

'I'm a normal human,' you reply. 'You clearly are more than that. I can sense it in you.' she pulls back and looks around, as if looking for something. 'I promise you, I cannot be any more normal,' you try to figure out what she is talking about. Maybe she is just some crazy woman, no wonder she lives on her own, you think to yourself. She opens her, what she called a grimoire and starts chanting something. You look as shocked as you feel. [[You stand curious, looking, listening|Passage 48]]

"Mother Goddess give me your light. Give me your power on this faithul night. I invoke you into my being and soul. Fill up my vessel and make me feel whole. I stand before you in awe and in love. I cherrish the gifts you send from above. I ask you tonight to show unto me. My mother, My Goddess, so mote it be. Reveal what this beast may be." she chants as you look in horror. Her face looks very serious and her voice sounds powerful, each word she says, come out of her mouth clearly and with such power that you can feel it in your skin. A bright light appears on top of you, you try to move away but you seem to be unable to do anything. The light lights up the whole room and blinds you. A few seconds in total blindness pass until everything clears, and you can see again. [[You look around|Passage 49]]

You look at the woman. She seems even more shocked than before. 'W-w-what are you? Why did that not do anything to you?' She tries to ask but she struggles as shock has taken over her. Her eyes are wide open, her hands are shaking, and she seems worried and nervous. 'What was that just now? The light, I couldn't move. What did you try to do to me?' you shout at her, seeking asnwers. 'I need a minute' the woman runs off into the living room. She needs a minute, what about me? I've died, got reborn and now this? I'm the one that "needs a minute". You say to yourself, quoting her. [[Try to figure out what is happening|Passage 50]]

You just stand still trying to figure out what is happening. //What is she talking about? What could she sense within me? Is she crazy? I need to get out of here// [[Stay|Passage 51]] [[Run away|Passage 52]]

'Come with me,' she guides you to the living room and points at a chair. 'Sit,' she commands. 'My name is Elizabeth, I am a sorcerer level 5. I am one of 10 sorcerers that are at this level. One of the strongest 10. I am in hiding as the Demon Lord is trying to destroy me. He knows I have a way of defeating him. I just need to find someone with enough magical power in order to use the spell. He will be defeated once and for all.' she explains. To her this could be an explanation, but to you this makes no sense, so your face shifts into what your friends call "Hiro's baffled face". This is probably the most defeated you have ever felt in your life. There was so much happening at once, that you can't process all of this information. You need a minute to cope in. But it appears you don't have a minute to spare, as you realise what she had just said and done. [[Wait so you can do magic?|Passage 53]]

You try to run away. Run away from that psycho woman. But as you try to run, she appears in front of you. 'Where are you going? I'm not finished with you,' she questions you as she runs after you. 'I can't stay here,' you try to explain. 'I need to see what you are. Why you didn't get affected by my magic,' she tries to calm you down. Your curiosity defeats you and you decide to stay. Is that what that white light was earlier?" You ask. 'You don't know about magic? Are you not from this world?" she sounds curious and astonished. 'It seems I am not. Where I came from, it looks completely different... kind of. We cannot do magic there either. Magic tricks, yes, but not actual magic.' You explain to her 'Magic tricks?' 'It's science combined with skills, we call them magic tricks, but there is no such thing as magic of course,' you try to give an explanation. 'But there is magic, look,' she tells you as she opens her hand and a little light comes out of it. [[How did you do that?|Passage 54]]

'I told you. Magic.' The room goes silent for a moment, as she pauses and then continues talking. 'Now we need to figure out who you are and what you are doing here' You look at her eyes and start asking yourself if she really will figure out what you are. But what are you? Are you different? Where are you? You start asking yourself for what purpose are you here. What is the maning of all of this? 'Look. You need to come with me, I know someone that might be able to find out what you are and what is happening with you. But I will be watching you. I need to know if you truly are what you say you are,' trying to sound a bit threatening she continues 'If you are lying to me, about anything... I will kill you!' //She sounds like a psycho. I need to be careful around her// [[Okay. Where to now?|Passage 55]]

'We are headed down North. He lives in the capital. He is a level 0 sorcerer, but he knows his stuff.' She explains to you, as she navigates the room you are currently in, looking around, collecting things. 'I need a few minutes to get ready and we can head out,' she explains to you as she leaves the room, leaving you alone with your thoughts. Finally some alone time, you think to youself. You try to collect your thoughts. Magic, death, Angels, different worlds, this is too much. You slap your face, hoping it will help you focus, just as it normally does when you are stressed. You feel a little less nervous and overwhelmed. You promise yourself, you will try and find as much information as possible out of Elizabeth and that person she mentioned, the what she called a sorcerer. Your thoughts where cut short when Elizabeth comes downstairs with her bags and confirms that she is ready to go. She points and looks at the front door, telling you to open it for her and walk out so she can follow. [[Head North|Passage 56]]

The road down North seems to be long. All you can see are trees, which remind you of your Earth, not that you know whether or not this is even called Earth, but you will ask once you get the chance. You keep looking around at the grass, the trees, the small flowers growin next to the road, up at the beautiful and peaceful blue sky. You think to yourself how much looks like Earth but at the same time it didn't feel like Earth. It looked more historic than Earth. As you wlak down the road, you begin to realise that you have not eaten in a very long time and that you are starting to get hungry. Thirsty. 'Do you have any food and water on you? I have not eaten all day. I am starving.' You say, as you feel your stomach about to roar. 'Oh yes. Of course. Just a moment,' she says as she stops and takes something out of her bag. 'Here have this,' she gives you some kind of meat, but you are so hungry you don't bother asking what animal that was, not that you certain this was even animal meat but you took it regardless. You muster your courage and take a bite out of it. The taste is horrible, but you are so hungry that you just ignore the taste. As you finish eating, she asks you 'How was it?' 'How was it? What was it? It tasted very badly,' you feel disgusted as you remember the taste. 'Haha,' she laughs. 'You seemed to be enjoying it a lot. Its lizard meat - very nutritious and very healthy.' she explains with a big smile on her face. [[I hope you have more than just that on you|Passage 58]]

'We can find something on the way, don't worry. Now we need to make a camp, as it's getting dark soon and nights here are extremely cold,' she rushes you as she points at the sky. You walk for a few more minutes when she stops and says 'This is as good as any locations for a camp. It might rain tonight, so it would be a good idea to hide under a tree if it does rain, it will act as a partial shelter.' You nod as a reply. [[Set up camp|Passage 59]]
