What I’d like you to do is simply make yourself as comfortable as you [[possibly can.]]

I’m going to give you some suggestions, some instructions, to bring you towards, [[deep trance]].
This is called a Progressive Muscle [[Relaxation induction.]]
It is fairly [[simple.]]
I’m going to ask you to start by simply making yourself [[comfortable]]
If you notice any spots in your body where you are carrying the tension of the day, make the decision to let go of that tension, to let it flow out into the water [[around you]]
You want to allow all the muscles in your body to become more [[relaxed.]]
Notice that your breathing has become a little bit slower already, and that is [[good.]]
Take a [[deep breath.]]
Breathe in… and [[exhale]].
Deep slow breaths help bring us to a point of hypnosis and [[trance]] easily.

As you relax and as you find a comfortable spot, imagine the muscles in the top of your head, the muscles in your brow, the muscles along your eyes and cheeks, the muscles in your lips, and simply let go of any tension in the muscles of your face or in the [[top of your head.]]
As you allow your body to experience a state of relaxation physically, it’s okay to let the mind wander and think of anything that brings you [[pleasant thoughts.]]
Continuing now and relaxing the muscles in your body along your shoulders, in the arms, and in your upper back…
Allow the tension to simply begin to [[disappear.]]
In fact, it’s as if you can feel tension or stress from the muscles in your upper back and in your shoulders and in your arms begin to move to your forearm and through the hands and out the [[fingertips.]]
In your mind you can picture all of the stress of the day… leaving your body… as you relax.
Pay attention to the muscles in your chest and stomach… and in your[[ lower back.]]
If any of these muscles are tense, simply let go of that tension.
Your muscles become limp and loose… like a big pile of rubber bands.
except, of course, those you need to [[keep going.]]
You experience serenity and peace.
This brings you into an even deeper state of relaxation.
Relaxing the mind is an easy thing to do [[also.]]
As your body becomes relaxed, your mind becomes more relaxed, as well.

In this state of relaxation, we can experience tranquility and peace.

Just read these words as they appear, and allow them to paint a picture for you. would you like to go to the [[forest]] or the [[lake]]?You find youself, standing before a forest. You’re not quite in it, instead, you’re at the very entrance of the forest. You’ve parked, packed, prepared, and trained for the hike ahead. Completely ready to [[enter that forest]].

[[turn back|pathways]] or [[walk in]]As you walk in, you feel confident and ready. The temperature is nice, there’s a slight breeze… all conditions are perfect as you prepare to set foot inside.
This forest is an allegory for being hypnotized. Because, much like a hike or a trail, our brain makes certain connections and paths, to enable neurotransmissions. Quite literally called neural [[pathways]].

one goes left, towards a small [[lake]], with a sign saying "Experienced hikers only".
the other goes to the right, //deeper// into the [[forest|forest2]]Once paths like this been created, it will always be there. Being hypnotized is a pathway like that. Your mind registers the state of trance - a heightened focus, relaxation, and suggestibility. The path has been created, and once it’s there, you will always be able to [[walk it again]].
But… much like a hike, much like a nature trail, if it isn’t tread often, the path can fade. It becomes overgrown. However… it remains there. Buried, perhaps, within the depth of your mind, but still there.

As long as you’re enjoying yourself, you can take another step into the forest, deeper and deeper down the path, filled with shade from the canopy above. You’re safe here. You’re [[comfortable|forest 3]]. You can follow these words into this deep state of trance, deep into your own mind, deeper down the forest. Because there is one small difference between this pathway, and an actual hike. A hike has a beginning and an end. There’s a clear starting point, and there’s an ending. Be it the top of a mountain, a viewpoint in the forest, or a loop back to [[the start|beginner path 2]]. There’s a beginning, there’s an end.
But with trance… with this path that you’ve created… there’s no clear ending. You decide where the finish line is. And you, yourself, can advance that path - Much like we’re doing right now. Each step, treading further and deeper, expanding the concept of being deep. You’re doing so well, taking another step. [[And another]].
You’re doing absolutely perfectly as you follow these words… going deeper and deeper, feeling yourself relax deeper as you get ready to allow yourself to reach that lovely state of trance. We’re going to count down from 10 to 1 together now, with each number representing a new step down into trance. Once we reach 1, you’ll be able to reach the point in the hike you desire.
