<!---Oh! Oh dear me, my goodness love you really gave me quite the scare! Come come sit by the fire, pray tell what brings you here at such a late hour?
[[Sit by the fire]]-->SAVE ME!
The story: you're already dead, the cave is limbo and your choices there determine your fate - heaven, hell, or a second chance at life. The demogorgon is a demon that wants to harvest your soul, the hag is an entity of judgment, the wolf is a gate keeper, any encounter with Demogoron results in death, the hag will judge your actions around her and be kind to you, allowing you to enter heaven, or she will damn you to hell. the wolf is a gate guardian back to the world of the living.
to get past the wolf, you need to show noble actions within the cave, but if you go straight to the wolf and try to get past it, it will be hostile to you, killing you and respawing you back in the cave.(if: $stolePie is true)[The old woman glares at you. "Did you think I wouldn't notice my pie missing?" she asks angrily.]
(else:)[The old woman smiles kindly at you. "Would you like some pie?" she offers.]
The old lady opens a [[Portal]] allowing you to return home.You wake up in a cave with no memory of how you got here, before you are two weapons on the ground.
Choose your weapon:
[[Sword]]
[[spear]]The old lady menacingly smiles, your eyes grow heavy. You hear the old lady say "OH JOY! I haven't had meat pie in so long."
The End.

Death by Demogorgon.
The End.
<!-- thinking of removing the option of respawn from Demogorgon encounters -->
[[Respawn->Choose your Class]]The world beyond the cave has forgotten who you are, your soul belongs to the Hag, forever destined to walk the lifeless passages of the cave as a revenant.
The End.
At the end of the corridor you see a wooden door, the smell of freshly baked apple pie and tea coming from it.
You go through the [[Wooden door]]
You walk into a dimly lit cabin, theres a fire place across from you. To your left is a kitchen counter with a freshly baked apple pie and tea brewing. An old woman is comfortably knitting in front of the fire and hasn't noticed you, what do you do?
<!-- speaking the "bad karma" from the stand your ground option with the wolf, i think it would be good to have a good and bad karma system that will determine your fate at the end of the game. -->
Steal: [[take a slice of pie]]
Leave: [[Quietly back out the way you came]]
<!--I can make an alternative choice to attack the hag instead - leads to using variables and "saved states" or "saving states." should make it easier to work with situations that require dice rolls or random moments of chance. <<print>> Rolling a 1d6: (random: 1,6)-->
<! Variable name: start with $, no spaces or other special character, letters anf numbers okay, or underscore _ -->
<!-- (set: $found_reflections to false)-->
<!--to display it:--> <!--found reflection $found_reflection-->
<!-- create a variable only page/passage, its not connected to the story, it is instead intended to have all working variables for the story, like if else statements, dice rolls, etc.
possible character name: Hree
use the if else boolean at least once in the project.
in macros, passage names go in " " quotation marks -->
<!--(go-to: "start")-->The old lady is visibly sadden by your sudden departure, she quickly prepares a lunch of pie and tea and bids you farewell.
<!-- shes sad because she knows the demogorgon is still out there and wants to harvest you, she knows that god intended for you to make your own choices and have free will and so she will not stop you, the dangers of the cave await you.-->You decide it's best not to disturb the old woman or the pie and quietly leave the cabin the way you came.
[[You turn to leave]]
(set: $stolePie to false)<!--You don't make it even half a step.
Mauled to death by GIANT Grey Wolf.
the wolf for this bit will actually allow you to return of your own free will without attacking you. -->As you exit the cave you now find yourself in the middle of a frozen forest. You hear the cries of the forest and a defening howl surrounds you.
[[Run back to the cave]]
<!-- this should be the giant wolfs encounter, he warns you to go back to the cave and finish the trials, saying "trials" is a hint to the players that theres more to this place than meets the eye. but again free will, the wolf will not chase you off and will not let you pass, he warns that death is what will follow should you seek to go past him, this should be a hint too. but mainly that you need to complete the trials first to show your humanity, to show why you should be allowed to revive, and him telling you only death is behind him is a confusing way of saying "past me is life and what will find you again is death." --><!-- The cave entrance disappears before you, A giant grey wolf stalks behind you, frothing at the mouth.
[[RUN!!]]
[[Turn and fight!]]
I will be changing the "run" option but keeping the fight option, and i should rework the entire story to give 3 options for each path, like heaven, hell, and being harvested -->You sit by the fire and set your weapon down as the old lady hands you a blanket. After settling in the old lady brings you a plate of apple pie and a cup of tea. After taking a sip, the old lady asks for your name.
[[Give name]]
[[Don't give name]]
<!-- this would be a good time to have a chat with the old lady and based on your responses will determine if she becomes a friend or foe. The name gimmick with hags comes from dnd but because i changed her background a bit it might be better to get rid of that.-->After equiping the sword you notice the path ahead splits. A faint voice in the distance, beckoning you towards it, down a narrow opening. The other path has the faint scent of tea.
<!-- maybe have the voice seem eerie or dark, to give the player a sense of uncertainty -->
[[Follow the voice]]
[[Go the other way]]<!-- Why would you even try?
Mauled to death by GIANT Grey Wolf. Duh.
Choosing to fight the wolf is a bad call, he is not inherently hostile but he will kill you, sending you back to the beginning and if you respawn the hag will have a different set of dialogues for you, like bad karma.-->
(if: $stolePie is true)[The old woman glares at you. "Did you think I wouldn't notice my pie missing?" she asks angrily as bloody fangs appear.]
(else:)[The old woman smiles kindly at you. "Would you like some pie?" she offers.]
The end.
[[Respawn->Choose your Class]]
<!-- instead of the country side this could be heaven, elysium, the great beyond, field of reeds. following all of the correct choices leads you to paradise.-->After equiping the spear you notice the path ahead splits. A faint voice in the distance, beckoning you towards it, down a narrow opening. The other path has the faint scent of tea.
[[Follow the voice]]
[[Go the other way]]You quickly grab a slice of pie and take a bite. It's delicious, but you hear the old woman shift in her chair. You need to move fast!
[[You leave the old ladys cabin]]
(set: $stolePie to true)
<!-- Basically theft, shows that you are not someone worthy of a second chance, to steal for someone elses sake is admirable, to steal for your self is a selfish act.-->You return to your reality with no memory of the last few days, only fresh pie and some tea on a nearby countertop.
The End.
