You head towards the forest. Palm fronds bend over the pathway, creating a canopy. You pluck one. It seems soft enough to be the base of your shelter. You pluck a few more and drag them towards a clearing in the forest. Now what for the foundation? You look around to see what you can find. A pile of {cycling link for: 'material', choices: ['bamboo', 'sticks', 'leaves']} lays at the base of a coconut tree. That seems perfect. You walk towards the tree. "Hey!" A voice shouts from the top of the coconut tree. "That's mine!" You jump and back away from the pile. "Oh, sorry! I didn't mean to steal, I, I thought it was fair game." The girl from the tree jumps down and lands on her feet. "Anything's fair game on this island. That is, if you want to make enemies." She stares you down. "Oh, no. I'm not trying to make any enemies. I just thought I could grab some materials to build my shelter." The girl looks you up and down slowly, then scoffs. "Sorry, I'll go," You say. You turn to walk away and the girl watches you. Just as you're about to go off the path, you hear her voice again. "You need a shelter?" She says. "Yeah, I do," You reply. "I can help you if you want. If you do me a favour and also **tell me your name**." {text input for: 'yourName'} [["Sounds like a deal!"->Make a Deal]]There is a muscular older man with grey hair collecting palm fronds from the path in front of you. "No, I just thought I'd get a chance to meet everyone." You say. The man looks around and then steps closer to you. "Okay, fine. I'm Macus by the way. I'll bring you up to the cliff, but you have to work with us and promise to trust me, or else this wont work," He says. You nod. "I understand." "You *need* to trust me, ok? [if passage.fromText === "Find Marcus"] You run back to the shore and spot Marcus heading up the cliff to meet with the other outcasts. "Hey wait!" You yell. "Let me come with you!" [continue] Marcus leads you up the pathway to the top of the cliff where a few other outcasts sit by the campfire. "Everyone, this is our newest recruit." Marcus gestures to you. They all wave. "That's Kiv, this is Seldo, and that's Poppy." You wave to them. "Hey, I'm {yourName}." Marcus sits down on a log and pulls you down to sit, also. "What's the plan for tonight?" He asks. "What do you mean, tonight?" You reply. You look around and study everyone's faces. They all stare at the ground, not making eye contact with you. "Guys?" Marcus clears his throat. "It's the first council tonight. We have to eliminate someone." "Eliminate? What do you mean?" You ask. "Well, we all have to vote for someone, and the person who gets the most votes, well...you know..." Marcus trails off. "Gets their body thrown to the sharks!" Seldo interrupts. "Jesus Seldo. You don't need to be so alarming." Marcus says. "What?" You respond. Marcus turns to face you, and in a low voice he says, "Ok {yourName}, the thing is, if we don't vote somebody off, we all die. So we have to make a choice." "Who's in charge here?" You ask. "The same people who put you here. Who put all of us here. Who will keep you here until you're the last person standing. And that's how you get out." Poppy butts in, "If you get eliminated, you don't *actually* die. They just put you back here for the next round, and the next, and the next, until you win. It only *feels* like dying." You nod, and decide to take all this in. You listen to the rest of the group discuss. "So, how about we take down Mandy tonight?" Marcus says. "Mandy or Andy?" Kiv clarifies. "If we do Mandy, the rest of them won't have a clue what to do without her. But if we go for her we have to make *sure* she gets eliminated, or else she will be out for blood." Poppy adds. "If we vote out Andy, Mandy will be fuming and she'll go after us anyways." Seldo says. You watch everyone discuss who to vote. It's fascinating, watching them bicker and strategize and plan. They talk back and forth, saying pros and cons of each option. They finally come to a conclusion. "Okay, I guess we'll take down Mandy tonight." Marcus says. Just as he says that, you hear an ear-piercing ringing come from the dark sky. [[It's time to vote.->It's Time to Vote 2]] "Oh. Okay then, weirdo. I was just trying to be helpful." Brandie says while rolling her eyes. You must have gotten on her nerves. She was being genuinely kind to you. Brandie walks away into the forest. It's just you now. You try to build a shelter but you can't do it all alone. You need someone to help hold the bamboo in place while you tie it with rope. You try to start a fire but you can't seem to get a spark. It starts storming. Huge droplets of rain splatter down all over your "campsite". You get soaked. It sure would be nice to have a shelter. You seat yourself under a large tree to try and stay somewhat dry. You can always [[go back to the main area->Talking in Shelter]] and see if anyone can help you with a shelter. The rain pours down hard. You are wet. You are miserable. You are cold. You are shaking. You are hungry.
