You are dropped into the robot-infested city of Detroit. Over the intercoms, you hear the voice of Captain Lawson Captain Lawson: Alright, soldier. Your mission is clear. Get in there and get that data and kill any robot that stands in your way. This is going to be a tough one. Many men have been lost trying to retrieve this data, but remember, failure is not an option. You got it? Now get out there and fight! With that, you begin your mission and begin fighting the hoards of robots. [[Begin the mission]]You begin your mission when Daisy, your AI assistant, chimes in to give you directions Daisy: Alright, it says in the mission report that the chip should be located in (name of location of end of mission here) that's not too far from here but you should be warned there are a lot of enemies standing between here and there including a big guy Chase: Thanks for the heads up Daisy Daisy: No problem if you run into any trouble let me know You continue on in the mission killing all the enemies in the way. After working your way through the city you reach your destination and see a giant robot standing in your way. [[fight the boss]]You decide to take on the boss (are reserved for potential dialogue telling the player how to deal with the boss mechanics) after finishing the fight you begin looking around for the chip [[search for the chip]]You look around for the chip but can't find anything Chase: Are you sure the report said it would be here, Daisy? Because I can't find anything. Daisy: I'm sure, the coordinates match exactly. Chase: Well something wierd is going on here. It's extremely rare for FIRST's info to be wrong. Daisy: Forget that I'm reading more machines converging on our location we have to get out of here! [[leave quick]]You get out of the chaos of the city and set up a camp safely away from the robots. You call base to figure out what's going on. Chase: Captain... Captain, do you hear me? Captain Lawson: Yes, what is it, Chase? Chase: The chip wasn't there. I looked all over for it after taking out a bunch of machines but I couldn't find it. Captain Lawson: Well that's certainly surprising. I'll try to figure out why our intel was wrong and get you the correct location soon. In the meantime rest a bit I'm sure it was tough out there. Chase: Alright Captain. As the line disconnects Daisy appears now in her fully holographic form. [[talk to Daisy]]Daisy walks towards you and sits next to you by the campfire. Daisy: I'm sorry you couldn't find the chip. I made certain that that was the location that was sent. Chase: Don't worry about it. I'm sure HQ will get it all sorted. Daisy: Still it's a bit disappointing. Chase: Could be worse. If I hadn't got out of there before the machines arrived who knows what would've happened. Daisy: You're welcome for that. Chase: You know, I never would've thought I was gonna make it this far when joined FIRST. I remember way back all those years ago when I joined. I was just a naive wide-eyed kid who knew nothing of what it takes to be a man. Now, I'm a part of a program that most people don't even know exists. Daisy: Well, FIRST must see something special in you. Chase: Yeah, I guess so. When I was told I would be joining this program I was shocked. Getting to be a part of a department most people in the military don't even know about. I was told this one is for the best of the best, the soldiers who can handle taking missions solo. [[continue the conversation]]Daisy: How many people are in the program? Chase: I don't know, most of the information about this program is kept a secret even to people in it. I was told that this mission was dangerous though and that many soilders before me had tried and failed to complete it. Daisy: How many soldiers have tried? Chase: I believe 76. Daisy: That makes you number 77, that's lucky. Daisy tries to be optimistic Chase: I hope so [[Begin mission 2]] Chase wakes up and prepares for his next attempt at finding this drive. Captain Lawson: Alright, soldier. Apologies for sending you to the incorrect location last time, but I've got new coordinates from HQ. Our intel suggests that given robot activity the data is likely somewhere in that area. Now get in there and retrieve that data. Chase: Alright sir, I'm on it. [[begin to fight]]You go out with Daisy and try to find the data again. Note: more dialogue will be here if/when the contents of mission 2 are known [[complete mission 2]]Chase clears out the enemy robots and begins looking for the data. After a while of finding nothing he begins to get frustrated. Chase: There's no way they could've gotten the location wrong again. Daisy: You've been looking now for over 20 minutes. I don't think there is anywhere else to look. Chase: Well, I don't want to just give up. It took a lot to get this far and HQ wouldn't want me to stop just because I can't find it. [[continue the search]]He continues to look around everywhere in the area. Daisy: We should get going, we've been here a while and if we stay here, robots will have surrounded us in no time. Chase: No, I'm certain the data must be here somewhere. Daisy: They got it wrong once who to say that they couldn't get it wrong again? Chase: I can't believe that. There is no way they could have gotten incorrect intel twice. Daisy: Regardless, you can figure out what's going on back at camp. If you die here searching for it you'll find it. Chase: I suppose you're right let's head out. [[Return to camp]]Chase returns to his camp and radios back to HQ Chase: Captain Lawson... Captain Lawson, do you hear me? Captain Lawson: Loud and clear soldier. Did you find the data? Chase: No sir, I looked everywhere but I was unable to find it again, sorry. Captain Lawson: That's alright, this thing's been very tricky to track down. We'll see if we can find a new location for you tomorrow. Chase: Yes sir. [[end the call]]Chase rests at camp with Daisy for a bit. Chase: Why do you think HQ has been having such a tough time tracking this thing down? Daisy: I don't know, maybe it was hidden by Akira so that no one could find it. The man was a genius and probably didn't want someone to be able to stuble upon his research. Chase: I suppose that makes sense. I wonder what exactly is on this thing. Daisy: Whatever it is FIRST is convinced it will help them in the war. Chase: I hope so, it'd be a shame if we were doing all this work for nothing. A transmission request is received from HQ [[answer the call]]Captain Lawson: Hello soldier, I have a new location for you to search. Chase: So the second location was incorrect too? Captain Lawson: It appears so son, I'm sorry. I've sent you the new location. Over and out. the call disconnects Chase: Alright, you ready Daisy: You know what they say, third time's the charm. [[Begin Mission 3]]Chase heads off to the location sen to him and on the way begins to talk to Daisy Chase: Hey Daisy, what should we do if we don't find anything at this location either? Daisy: What do you mean? Chase: Should we confront Captain about this? FIRST has always been perfect on everything and now they can't locate a drive with some data. Daisy: I don't know if confronting him would solve anything. Chase: Maybe, but I would like some answers as to why this thing is so difficult to locate. [[finish mission 3]]Chase reaches the location and begins to search again. Chase: It seems like this place has nothing either. Daisy: Do you want to head back to camp already? You haven't been searching as long as before. Chase: I know, but I can see the writing on the wall, and it says something is wrong at HQ. [[Head back to camp]]Chase reaches camp and calls back to HQ Captain Lawson: Hello Chase: Hello, the location you gave had nothing in it, again. Captain Lawson: My apologies, I'll report back to HQ and see if we can find a new location. Chase: Can I ask why it is taking so long to find the correct location? Captain Lawson: The drive has been hidden for decades. If it were easy to find it would have been found by now. Chase: Yes, but FIRST has never had a problem finding hidden things before. Why is this drive giving FIRST so much trouble? Captain Lawson: Detroit is a big city. There are a lot of places it could be. Chase: Yes, but it's not that big, and you've sent other soldiers on this mission before how many places could it possibly be? Captain Lawson: Look, once you find the drive at get back to us we can explain everything to you in much greater detail. Chase: but I'm out here fighting now. If you guys are going to be consistantly getting the location wrong I should be entitled to know why. The call disconnects [[Talk to Daisy]]Chase sits down at camp and Daisy approaches him worried. Daisy: I'm guessing he didn't give you an answer. Chase: No Daisy: Then all we can do is wait for a new location. Chase: No Daisy: What do you mean "No"? Chase: I'm going out on my own. Daisy: Without directions from HQ? That's insane! Chase: It's what an elite soldier would do. Daisy: An elite soldier would wait for directions and follow orders. Chase: If I truly belong here, I'll be able to find the drive and retrieve it on my own. [[begin mission 4]] Chase sets out into the city, despite Daisy's pleading, to find the drive on his own. Daisy: Chase, please don't do this. I'm sure HQ will have a new set of coordinates for you soon. Chase: Will they be the correct coordinates? Daisy: There is a better chance of them knowing where it is than you finding it by randomly wandering Detroit. Chase: And how many days would we be stranded here? [[continue searching the city]] Chase heads towards the next location fighting through even more enemies. However, on the way, he sustains an injury. Daisy: You've been injured. You must go back to base now and let your cybernetics heal you. Chase: It's nothing, I can fight just fine. Chase continues toward his location but is crippled. [[reach the second location]] Chase reaches the second location even more crippled and, yet again, finds nothing. Daisy: You can barely walk. You need to get back to camp. Chase: I must keep pushing forward. The drive must be found Chase moves towards a third location noticeably handicapped. [[third location]] While fighting through a third set of enemies Chase gets injured some more. He is now unable to fight. Daisy: Multiple systems down you can't even shoot your gun anymore, Chase, please. Chase: Fine, find me the fastest route out of here Chase retreats with robots chasing him toward camp. Eventually, he loses them and reaches his camp barely conscious. He collapses down onto the ground and passes out from his injuries. [[finish mission 4]] After an unknown amount of time, Chase wakes up and finds himself healed however most of his other gear is broken. Daisy: You're awake! Chase: How long has it been? Daisy: I don't know if your equipment and cybernetics were damaged. I'm surprised you could still be healed. Chase: HQ should sent someone to evacuate me if I was unconscious for that long. I'm going to call them. [[call HQ]] Chase tries to rasio Captain Lawson but his radio has been damaged so the connection is tenuous being interruppted by ''cuts and static''. Chase: Captain Lawson can you hear me? Captain Lawson: Yes, how are you, soldier? Chase: I was knocked unconscious for hours if not days. Why was I not evacuated? CaptainLawson: Like you were told before the mission, failure is not an option. We can't pull you out until you've gotten that data. Daisy: So they were going to leave you to die? Chase: Sir, surely it would make more sense to pull me out and give it another go than to allow me to die here. Captain Lawson: According to HQ, the goal is for you to find the drive and get out. Any other result is a complete failure. Daisy: That is insane. Chase: Sir, with all due respect I don't think HQ wants me to die out here. Can you please ask them to send someone to get me so I can get my cybernetics fixed. The line drops. [[continue with Daisy]] Daisy: What now? Chase: We could try to repair the radio. Do you know how? Daisy: Yes, but I don't have the tools needed to repair it and I doubt they would be anywhere in the city. Chase: So we have no way of reaching HQ? Daisy: Maybe not, the city should have a radio tower nearby. If we get to it we can use it to reach HQ. Chase: What are the chances of success? Daisy: Not great, but it's the only chance we have. [[start mission 5]] Chase follows Daisy's directions into the city towards the abandoned radio station. Daisy: What will you say to Captain Lawson if I can reconnect you to him? Chase: Demand to be lifted out of here. Daisy: And if he says no? Chase: Demand it even harder. Daisy is amused by the response. Chase: What do you want me to do? I didn't expect FIRST to leave me abandoned with no intention of evacing me if I needed it. Daisy: You'd think they'd care more about their "elite soldiers". Chase: You'd think. [[reach the radio station]] Chase enters the radio station and Daisy begins to tinker with the electronics inside. After a while, the connection finally begins to form. Daisy: I think I got it. The connection forms and Chase gets close to the microphone. Chase: Hello Captain Lawson. HQ? Anybody? A voice responds from the other end that sounds synthetic. AI: Hello, you are talking to the FIRST's center of operations. How may I help you today? Chase: I need to talk to Captain Lawson. I need him to get me out of here. AI: I'm sorry, it seems no one named Captian Lawson works at FIRST. Are you thinking of Sargeant Lawerence? Chase: No, Captain Lawson. L-A-W-S-O-N. AI: I'm sorry, that name does not appear in our records. Is there anyone else who can help you? [[Get me out of here]] [[No, I'm certain Captain Lawson exsists]] Chase: Get me out of here. I'm been left in Detroit and no one is coming to rescue me. AI: I'm sorry, our records indicate there are no active mission that have happened in Detroit for over thiry years. Chase: No you don't understand I'm a part of a special proigram that no one knows about. That's why there are no records of it. AI: Every operation from every program and department is required to log its mission information. I can assure you if there was a mission going on in Detroit I would know. [[search for me]] Chase: No, I'm certain Captain Lawson exists. I was just talking with him not too long ago. AI: I have now searched the entire FIRST database multiple times and can assure you there is no Captain Lawson. Chase: Search for anyone with the name Franklin Lawson. At any rank. AI: There were no results found for the name Franklin Lawson in our database. [[search for me]] Chase: Search my name, Chase Telos. Badge number D400395. AI: Chase Telos was reported to be KIA approximately two and a half weeks ago in an operation in Las Vegas. Chase: That can't be right, I'm alive. I'm talking to you right now. AI: I'm sorry, but it is impossible for someone to be alive after they died. Chase: I know that Daisy decides to try and help an increasingly frustrated Chase Daisy: Maybe it's a cover to make sure no one wonders where you went. Chase: But why death? [[continue with the AI]] Chase puts the microphone back up to his mouth and continues the conversation. Chase: Where are Chase's remains now? AI: Chase's body was moved to Detroit and dumped there at his request. Chase: I di- Why would he request that? AI: That is unknown, however, it is likely that it was for a simular reason as many of the other soldiers who did so. Chase: There were other bodies sent to Detroit. Yes, over the past few years over 70 soldiers' bodies have been sent to Detroit after they had been reported dead. [[!!!]] Chase: Over 70... AI: That is correct over 70 soldiers' bodies have been sent there including Chase. Chase drops the mic and backs away from the set-up. Daisy: Could it be? Chase: I was meant to die. They were never going to bring me out of this city anyway. Daisy: But why? Why would they be doing this? Chase: I don't know. Everything makes sense now. This is why I had never heard of this department and why it was a secret. It's nothing more than a way to get rid of soldiers. Daisy: What about Lawson surely he knew. Chase: He was never real. He was some going by a false name or some AI pretending to be a Captain. [[What now]] Daisy: So, what now? Chase pauses for a long while to think. Chase: We have to get out of here. Daisy: How? Chase: The airport, maybe we can find a plane there and you can fly us out. Daisy: But that would require us entering the fog and that will hurt you and me. Chase: It's all we got. [[Begin mission 6]]Chase drops into the smoke below and instantly feels the effects. It is difficult to see and breathe as whatever chemical weapon was used here seeps into his lungs. He makes his way towards the airport but notices on the way that Daisy's functionality slowly diminishes. Chase: Hey Daisy, I think you're beginning to short out. Daisy: Yeah, the chemicals are just as bad for me as they are for you. Chase: Are you going to be alright? Daisy: Right now I am, just hurry up. [[reach the airport]] Chase reaches the airport and he begins his search with Daisy to find a functional plane she can use. They go around the tarmac to each plane they see but they are all missing some component. As both of their health diminishes they are left with no planes left. Chase: There are no more planes left what should we do? Daisy: I could try- Daisy is cut off by the pain and damage the chemicals have inflicted. Chase: Are you okay? Daisy: I could try to guide you to take parts from one plane and put them in another. Then Another surge of pain. Daisy: Then we would have a functional plane. [[Chase: How long would that take?]] Chase: How long would that take? Daisy: I don't know, an hour tops. Chase: We don't have that kind of time. You're already sounding horrible. Daisy: I can make it if you do it quickly. Chase: No, even if I finished you would still end up dying and being unable to fly the plane. Daisy: All I would need to do is set a course and the plane could fly itself. Chase: No! I'm getting out of here. [[leave the smoke]]Chase makes his way out of the airport and above the smoke. However, the damage to him and Daisy has already been done. Both of them are unable to fully speak with her mechanical components on the brink of total failure and his mind is warped and his body damaged from the toxins. ''Chase coughs through his sentences and Daisy is glitching out during hers.'' Chase: We need to find a place to repair you. Daisy: What about you? You need to rest or at least find an anecdote. Chase: I can't do that! If I rest or go find something for myself you'll be gone. Daisy: And if I survive and you die? What use am I alone? Chase: What use am I alone? Without you, I wouldn't be able to find my way around this city. Without you, I wouldn't be able to fix or use broken technology. Without you, I... Chase: I have already lost everyone else. I can't lose you too. Daisy: I won't let you kill yourself for me. [[Go find supplies for Daisy]] [[Go find supplies for Chase]] Chase: Daisy, I'm not gonna tell you again find me the nearest supplies to fix you. Daisy: Alright, follow my directions, and don't injure yourself even more. [[Start Mission 7 Head to Daisy supplies]]Chase: You're right, where are the nearest medical supplies? Daisy: I'll lead you to them [[Start Mission 7 Head to Chase supplies]]Once Chase arrives at the location Daisy guides him to he finds the building and enters unsure of what it is. Chase: Where would these parts be located? Daisy doesn't respond. Chase looks around the building before eventually seeing the medical supplies scattered around the place. Chase: What is this place? Why are their medical supplies? Daisy leaves him with a final message Daisy: I love you, Chase. Chase: No! Why? Chase falls to the floor hysterical at the loss. After a bit, he gets up still emotional, and DESTROYS all the medical supplies in anger and sadness. After a whirlwind of emotions, he decides there is nothing more for him to do and leaves. [[Mission 8 leave broken]] Chase heads towards the location there is near complete silence between the tow on the way there except for the blunt direction from Daisy. Once Chase arrives at the location Daisy guides him to he finds the building and enters unsure of what it is. Chase: Where are the medical supplies located? Daisy: They'll be in the room behind the counter Chase heads behind the counter and opens the door entering the room filled with various medicines. Chase looks frantically looks for the antidote. [[find the antidote]]Chase finds the antidote with a half-hearted smile on his face. Chase: I did it. I found the antidote. We can save you now. Daisy: No, get out of here Chase. Free yourself. Daisy's final message leaves Chase static for what feels like an eternity. Finally, he snaps. He throws the bottle against the wall and breaks down destroying the room in a fit of anger, sadness, and pain. After a whirlwind of emotions, he decides there is nothing more for him to do and leaves. [[Mission 8 leave broken]] Chase now rampages around the city with no real plan simply killing all the robots in his way. The combination of the chemicals he inhaled, the loss of Daisy, and FIRST's betrayal have made him go mad. After rampaging around his fault cybernetics finally give out and and he falls into the smoke-filled streets below. [[mission 9]] After falling to the street he gets back up and continues his rampage. His mind is completely gone now only mumbling and laughing to himself seemingly randomly. Eventually, after wandering and killing on the ground for a while he stumbles across what appears to be a door to some underground bunker. [[go inside]] Once inside he fights his way throught the tight hallways and corridors and hallways. Killing every single robot in every single room. Eventually, he comes across a door with special markings on it implying it is special in some way. After opening it up he steps inside looking around for a moment and then approaches the desk at the other end. He looks down on it analyzing what's on it. Then begins to laugh uncontrollably. He enters a state of total madness as he saw truth. Fin.
