Wells lets out an exasperated sigh and returns to his coffee.
“Just get on with your work.”

As you look at the image, you suddenly find it. One of the crates is wide open, and there is a dark stain across the walkway.
“What exactly is happening over there-”
Wells is suddenly cut off by a jagged screech from further down the ship. There is a second of silence, then pounding steps echoing in the hallway.

The pounding steps grow louder until they suddenly stop. Across from you, you see the source of them at the entrance of the cockpit. Slick and jagged, poised for action against a now stammering Wells.
The owner of these feet rushes forward and in a disgusting flurry you hear it slashing away the captain, blood splashing across the controls.
In horror you look out from underneath the console and discover what this animal is. A hunched but muscular creature standing on two angled legs, jagged claws and spikes jutting out from its oily, brown carapace.

As you race past the bunk room, you catch a glimpse of a wide-eyed Brooks looking out.

With adrenaline-fuelled strength that you did not know you possessed, you force open the weighty hatch and scramble into the escape pod.

After a short while, you hear the creature slowly walking down the corridor towards you.

As you are doing so, you look up and are confronted with a terrible sight. The predator, now bloodied, pacing towards you.
Your eyes lock with one of its for the briefest of moments, before it suddenly leaps towards you.
[[Slam the hatch shut!|Close Hatch]]<div><img class="room-icon" src="./icons/escape_room.png"><h3>Escape Pod</h3></div>You slam the hatch shut before it gets to you, and with one arm pulling it tight, you reach down with the other to push the bolt in.
You fall backwards on to the floor, crawling away from the hatch. As you do so, the alien begins to violently hack away at it.

After calming yourself, you pull yourself up to move over to the pod's control panel when you hear a more effective, sizzling sound.

Was this mentioned in training? Is there something you forgot? Isn't this an emergency anyway!?
As you desperately try to remember what you're missing, you suddenly feel the telltale shudder of a ship connecting to yours.
The alien outside recognise this as well, and stops dissolving the hatch.

You wait in anticipation and after some time, you hear some noise and then calm voices outside. A wave of relief washes over you. It must be dead.
You wonder how your saviours reached you so quickly. Did Wells activate the distress beacon in his last moments?
Regardless, you are just glad to be alive and after waiting a little longer, you take a deep breath and unlock the hatch.

As you are about to say something, he looks in your direction. After noticing you, he steps out into the hallway and waves to someone further down to your right.

Then you hear a harsh beep emanating from its collar, and in your final moments it leaps towards you.

Gathering your thoughts, you realise you have to act. Now.

If this soon to be released creature is violent, you're not going to be able to hold it back with your bare hands.
Franctically searching for a useful tool, you find two options.

[[Take the flamethrower|Flamethrower]]<div><img class="room-icon" src="./icons/cargo_room.png"><h3>Cargo Hold</h3></div>You grab one of the cattle prods out of the rack and race back to the cargo hold.
They have been effective in the past in pushing livestock, and you should be able to keep in whatever creature wants to come out.

Flicking on the ignition, you try your hardest to remember the off-the-books training you once recieved for dealing with situations like this.
[[Continue|Flamethrower 2]]<div><img class="room-icon" src="./icons/cargo_room.png"><h3>Cargo Hold</h3></div>You flick the switch on the rod and watch the timer finish on the container's display. As the crate's door fall open, you are met with the sight of a hunched abomination, its many eyes staring back at you.
With a cry you jab the prod into its eyes and it lets out a horrific screech. Your victory however is short-lived, and the loss of one of its eyes does not prevent it from springing out towards you, and shredding you.
[[Ending|Bad Ending]]<div><img class="room-icon" src="./icons/cargo_room.png"><h3>Cargo Hold</h3></div>With your finger on the trigger and the feeling of a reassuring heat emanating from the weapon, you watch the timer on container 'VH-31' tick down to zero.
As the container's doors fall open, you peer into the darkness of the crate and find a large, hunched over creature staring viscerally back at you with rabid eyes.
Your only thought is survival, and you pull the trigger with all your might.
[[Continue|Flamethrower 3]]<div><img class="room-icon" src="./icons/cargo_room.png"><h3>Cargo Hold</h3></div>The flames instantly engulf the twisted animal and it writhes in agony. You step closer to burn it more, fear and disgust overriding all rational impulse.
The ship's fire alarms start blaring, but the creature's screams of pain still drown out all else. After what seems like an endless act of incineration, you can no longer hear it's cries and step back to cut the flamethrower's ignition.

You have to make a snap decision before the creature sees you.
There's the emergency-use flamethrower, which could be used to defend yourself. Or you could hide behind one of the equipment shelves.

Lighting the ignition and turning to face the entrance, you prepare to make your stand against this monster.
Only seconds later you see it outside, its head turned as if it always knew you were there.
[[Fight!|Flamethrower Fight]]<div><img class="room-icon" src="./icons/storage_room.png"><h3>Storage</h3></div>You aim the flamethrower, step forward and pull the trigger—flames roaring out of nozzle.
In a perverse show of agility, the alien darts out of the way into the room before the flames can reach it. As you turn to face it, it darts again, nimbly jumping through an empty space in the shelves.
Before you can turn a second time, it leaps towards you. The flames merely scorch the roof as you fall.
[[Ending|Bad Ending]]<div><img class="room-icon" src="./icons/cargo_room.png"><h3>Cargo Hold</h3></div>Your senses return to you and you can now hear Captain Wells yelling outside alongside the fire alarms. You know that you will not be wearing your, now singed uniform, for much longer.
A single glance however, at the charred and shrunken corpse of the creature, reminds you of its wicked nature. You sit down to rest, and feel no regret.
