You aim for his head, but he moves quickly, throwing you off balance and causing you to [[stab him in the back| stabbing1]].
You don't stop until you're outside. Even then you don't stop, you keep going. You know there's no help nearby right now, but maybe eventually someone will realize something is up and come searching for you. Maybe your parents. \n\nThe thought of them saddens you. You hope to see them again.\n\nIt's early morning now and the roads are dead; you've been playing cat and mouse with this beast all night. You could, however, risk going to the road and hope someone will give you a ride. It would definitely be safer that staying here.\n\n* [[Find a place to hide.|shedterror1]]\n* [[Try the road.|shedterror2]]
You're about to pause, but one room distance doesn't seem like quite enough distance; you can hear the monster growling and walking really close by. You [[keep running and running and running|continue1]].
You sink into the couch, a beer in your hand. Moving almost automatically, you turn on the TV. When you see it's a crime show, you change channels until you reach a comedy network. A comedian yells something obnoxious into his microphone. It's not what you'd usually watch, but you have no stomach to see anything else.\n\nThe past few weeks are a blur in your mind. It's just been one interview after another, more evidence popping up leading to you, more failures at finding your own clues. And all the while you've been trying to keep your son out of it. He already lost his biological father, and now his stepfather was dead too. Not just dead. Murdered. The scandal has ruined his life at school; all his friends are calling you a murderer, and they don't want to be anywhere near a murderer's son. At least they aren't harming him physically. Not that you can tell.\n\nYour eyes fill with tears at the thought, but you blink them away. Crying won't help Jason. Sitting on the couch drinking your problems away won't either. \n\nYou sigh as you turn off the TV and go to the kitchen to put the beer back. Everything you've done so far has been for your son. Re-marrying to John... He was a good guy. You were never in love with him, though he certainly cared about you. He definitely loved Jason like he was his own son.\n\nYou can't give up now. You have to think of his future, and how this will affect him. He needs a parent figure, and you can't be that from jail.\n\n* [[Hit the Internet.|hitthestreets2]]\n* [[Hit the streets.|hitthestreets1]]
You struggle for a bit. It does nothing but make him hold you tighter. Without much choice, [[you kick him in the groin|groinkick1]].
You pace the room, arms crossed in front of you. Your white wooly sweater feels good against your skin, but your sweating is making it uncomfortable.\n\nYou look at the clock. Almost five. Joe would have finished work by now. If he weren't dead. \n\nSince his bloody demise the police have been all over you. It seems like no one else had the opportunity or motive to kill him. They'd found his body in a dumpster down in the city. True, it would have been difficult for a woman of your build to lift him up into the dumpster, but you couldn't provide a proper alibi. How could you tell them that you were sitting high in your girl friend's room laughing and watching porn? It was embarassing for women of your age to do that sort of thing, and they might not have believed you anyway.\n\nThe fact is, you and Joe were in a bit of a rough spot in your marriage. He was always working, sometimes very late, even going in on weekends. You suppose that's what happened to really good accountants; someone always needed you.\n\nOf course, you would //never// cheat on your husband. You aren't some whore. But your sexual appetite has grown immensely over the last few months. You would almost literally suck the life out of him whenever he got home.\n\nAnd you wanted kids. He never did.\n\nIn some sick way his death liberated you. It led you back into John's arms, the one you should have really married all those years ago. He never believed for a second you would kill his brother, especially when you always believed divorce was an option. One, you've yet to tell him, you were strongly considering before his brother died. He's given you the... //attention// you need. And he wants kids in the future.\n\nHe's been helping you these last few days. You pulled together some clues that may have led to your incredibly rich, blonde, hourglass-figured neighbour, but then the trail always went cold.\n\nLast night though... Last night you found something.\n\nYou hear a knock at the door. \n\n* [[Answer it.|answerdoor1]]\n* [[Leave it.|answerdoor2]]
[[You can't help yourself.|rampage1]]
The days roll on in a similar way. He attempts to talk to you, you remain quiet. You will not allow him to go outside for more sustenance; it's too dangerous, and you're trained to in the art of subtelty, something that clearly isn't one of his strong points.\n\nYou workout every day, using the area around you, refusing to let yourself grow slack. While you do this, he does research. Sometimes you peer over his shoulder to see what he's doing, and he explains. Usually, it's trying to find out more about his kidnappers.\n\nYou could tell him about them. It would make his search easier. But then it wouldn't be long before he discovered your group, its rival, and link you to it. This man is smarter than you gave him credit for.\n\nEvery day you check the satellite images for signs of change. Still nothing.\n\nThe days roll on, and there's still no change.\n\nYou find yourself pacing the rooms more often, getting frustrated by the smallest thing. You can't stand watching TV anymore because of the commercials. You even threw a plate against the wall because you didn't like the color.\n\nJohn has been trying to stay out of your way and be quiet, but now, sensing that you're losing your temper, he's begun to talk more. Not asking questions, just talking. You sit with him and listen to him talk about his family, his childhood. How he had to abandon everything after the government discovered his talents. How his entirely family was dead, a cover up story in the papers saying it was a house fire. He explains how he's had to delete himself from every possible database and steal money from various companies by hacking.\n\n* [[Ask him why they need him so badly.|openingup2]]\n* [[Tell him a little bit about yourself.|openingup1]]
A part of you wants to reply, just to get him to leave you alone. But you've thought from the beginning of this mission that it's best to distance yourself as much as possible. [[You remain silent.|longdaysahead1]]
"I came to apologize for yesterday!" you exclaim, hands behind your back, swaying from side to side. You wore your sexiest outfit today; a pink frilly skirt and a white blouse. You're hoping it works in your favor to make him fall for you. He certainly seems flustered.\n\n"H-How do you know where I live?"\n\nYou sigh. He's really bad at asking the important questions. Oh well, you didn't fall for him for his brain.\n\nYou offer your hand to help him up.\n\n"I just really wanted to say I'm sorry for slapping you yesterday," you repeat as he accepts your help and gets to his feet.\n\n"Oh, yeah, don't worry. I kind of deserved it for spilling your coffee." He smiles slightly. "Hey, I work near that same shop. How about I buy you another one? Call it even? And then... You know... You don't have to come by my place anymore..."\n\nYou squeal and nod your head in agreement. Your first date, you can hardly believe it!\n\nAs you head to the coffee shop you can't help but keep smiling. You notice that he looks at you uneasily, but you attribute it to him trying to sort out his feelings for you.\n\nAfter he buys you the coffee, he apologizes and says he has to go to work, but hopes you have a great day.\n\nYou nod your head and wave as he walks away.\n\n* [[Follow him to work.|followwork1]]\n* [[Head home.|followwork2]]
It happens so fast he doesn't even have time to react.\n\nYou frown, let go of your shirt, and slap him as hard as you can. Then, without a word, you leave the shop, which you notice has gone quiet.\n\nYou keep walking until you are a couple of blocks away, then you hide behind a building and peer over at the shop to see when he will start following you. He doesn't.\n\nAt first you're confused. That was definitely memorable. And if he is indeed //the one//, he should be totally attracted to you by now, chasing you down to learn more about you and then fall in love.\n\nYou're disheartened at first. Maybe he's not the one.\n\nYour heart lifts when you see him exit the coffee shop with another young man, who's handsome, but definitely not as handsome as your new love.\n\n* [[Follow them.|followhim1]]\n* [[Leave it to destiny.|followhim2]]

You want to simply go inside and enjoy what the house might have to offer. Finally, for the first time since you were taken from your home, you feel calm and safe. [[But a question lingers at the back of your mind, and it must be answered.|questions1]]
"How long will I be staying here?" you ask, your voice somber.\n\n"Forever!" John yells, beginning to walk away. Noticing you're not following, he pauses. Realizing what he said, he returns to you, carefully grabbing your hands.\n\n"If you //want// to," he insists, his voice deep, serious. "Savannah, you are no slave here." He raises your hands to kiss them. "I have many spare rooms; pick the one of your choosing. There's no need for you to share mine."\n\nYou smile and move in closer. You can see his hair sticking to his forehead, his white shirt damp with sweat, and the bags under his eyes, certainly more prominent after what happened. You gently caress his face. "There's no need."\n\n\n------\n\n\nYou roll over the next morning to find John no longer there. You you take a shower and get dressed, but are in no rush. He's left you with a variety of clothes to wear; anything you choose. You can't help but wonder how many women he's offered these clothes to.\n\nSick of the scanty clothing you were forced to wear yesterday, you pull on a pair of fitted jeans and v-neck t-shirt.\n\n* [[Examine the room.|captured2]]\n* [[Leave to find John.|captured1]]
Putting on the brightest smile, you wave and motion him over. He's with a fairly large group of friends, but he tells them something and leaves, heading towards you. You notice that no one really pays him much attention.\n\n"Hey," you greet him as he sits down. "Any recommendations? It's my first time here."\n\nHe nods. "The sweet potato burger is pretty good."\n\nYou close your menu. "Done. Come here often?"\n\nYou nods shyly. "Yeah, well, my friends love this place. I just kind of..."\n\n"Go where they go?" He nods. You shrug. "I get that."\n\nYou look at the table where he was sitting. "You order yet?" you ask. He shakes his head. You motion to the table. "Want to join me?"\n\nThe waiter comes over as you say this. He asks what you want. Without waiting for your new friend's answer, you say you want two orders of sweet potato burgers. With fries, because who the hell wants a salad.\n\nYou enjoy your conversation over lunch, finding out that he's just finished his PHD in some sort of program where you need to be really smart, but he's not sure what he wants to do with the rest of his life yet. You nod. You tell him you're not sure what to do with your life either. \n\nHis friends have left a long time ago, but he doesn't seem to care. When you're done, he follows you out of the restaurant. You wouldn't let him pay for either meal.\n\n* [[Thank him for the company and leave.|adventuretime1]]\n* [[Invite him back to your place.|adventuretime2]]

The spark eventually turns into a flame as you think about the Master Chef in his little shack, and about all your friends that died. About John...\n\nYou realize you want revenge.\n\nThe tires to the car are slashed, there's no phone service, and hell, no one knows where you are; you'd all just picked up and left. The closer you get to the shack the louder the noise of a chainsaw. It's perfect timing. He thinks you're too scared to do anything, and you can't blame him, curled up in the house for as long as you were. He probably thought you were easy pickings. Well, this broken girl is going to show him what's what.\n\nWhen you reach the shack you open the door very slowly, keeping your eyes focused on the back of the cannibal. Fearful, you run to find a hiding spot. The gardener's tool shed comes into view. It's pretty big, and you figure there must be something on the inside you can bar the door with. It'll be dark, but maybe it will suffice until help comes.\n\nYou pull open the door and slam it as soon as you're inside. It's dark, so you have trouble as you try to find something to block the door with. Suddenly, the book you've been carrying begins to glow. It lights up the whole shed to reveal bodies, an entire pile of them. Everyone from the museum, all your classmates, even John...\n\nTears begin to come but you shake them away. Suddenly, you see the monster appear out of the corner of your eye. He laughs maniacally as the book glows brighter and brighter, until it envelopes the whole room. The last thing you remember is the sound of your own high pitched scream and how alien it was to your ears.\n\n\n------\n\nYou exit the shed, still holding the book, this time more like a treasure than a burden. The bodies in the shed are gone, as is the monster that was your old professor.\n\nYou reach the road and hold out a thumb, like you know many people do in this day and age. Times really have changed.\n\nLuckily for you a truck drives up the road and stops for you. He looks like a jolly man with a good heart.\n\n"Hello sweetheart! You need lift?"\n\nYes... You wait until his lips reach yours, kissing him passionately and grabbing him by the shirt to pull him in closer. Next thing you know both your clothes are off. You really did pick the perfect spot to not be seen. Or heard.\n\nAs you lie together naked in the grass, he tells you how good you make him feel, how now, even though he still doesn't know your name, even though he doesn't know much about you, he loves you, and he wants to be with you forever.\n\nSomehow, this makes you sad. You think that maybe you've gone too far this time.\n\n"Alexis," you whisper, faking a smile as you whisper in his ear. You kiss him quickly before sitting up and putting your clothes back on. "We better get going. Don't want to get caught here in the morning."\n\nHe nods, following your lead. You decide to leave the bottle and whatever left over cheese there is behind.\n\nYou say you would love for him to stay over, but you're worried you won't want to go to work the next day. He smiles, thinking this is a typical 'you' thing to say.\n\nHe calls a cab, telling you that his name is John before going in. You feel a little drowsy as you walk into the office, barely enough energy to wave hello to some of your co-workers. You hear some vague chatter about a new guy to replace Jenkins who retired, but you've never been one for gossip. You head straight for your desk and start to work.\n\nThe lack of coffee affects you more than you expect. You feel yourself falling asleep as you type. It doesn't help that you couldn't sleep because that guy was on your mind all night.\n\nYou get up to grab some water by the cooler. As you reach for a styrofoam cup, that familiar voice surprises you again.\n\n"Hey! Look at this coincidence!"\n\nYou look up and lo and behold, he's there, looking rather dashing in a suit.\n\n"What are you doing here?" you barely manage to stutter, still in shock.\n\n"I'm new," he explains. "Always wanted to work at an ad agency. What are the chances you'd be working here too? Maybe you're my good luck charm!" \n\nHe laughs, you turn red. You suddenly don't need water to wake yourself up anymore. Excusing yourself, you return to your desk. You always go for coffee before work. But you're somehow afraid to come across that guy again. It's not right. You haven't even exchanged names yet. Downright indecent in a public space. But quite frankly, [[you'd go for it even if you hadn't had wine|goforit1]]. Besides, you're a peppy adventurous girl, not a tease.
You gasp as the hot coffee lands on your favorite sweater. It's thick, so you don't feel the heat so much, but you're still quite annoyed.\n\nFixing your glasses you look up at the culprit, and your heart skips a beat. He's beautiful. And not just aesthetically; there's something extremely attractive about his sincere apologetic expression.\n\n"God," he exclaims. "I am so sorry!"\n\nSuddenly feeling a little stiff due to your nerves, you automatically throw away the coffee cup. \n\n"It's fine," you whisper, looking at the ground.\n\n"No, man, I really messed up," he continues. "Picnic," you state, like it's the most obvious thing in the world.\n\nYou hand him the wine and keep the cheese, leading him towards the park. There's tape around the entrance, blocking it off for construction.\n\n"I guess we should head back," he begins to say, but you're not listening. You immediately hop the fence, so as not to disturb the tape. He seems really uncertain, but you motion for him to follow. He struggles over the fence, but makes it eventually. It's such a nice night. \n\nYou open the wine (you always buy the ones with the caps that twist off) and unwrap the cheese (always pre-sliced) as he takes off his jacket and sits on it.\n\nAnd then you talk, this time the wine making you open up a little more. You talk about the beach back home, where you have your fondest memories. You wish you could go back, but it's in a small town so far away with no job opportunities whatsoever. You wander around the kitchen in circles pointlessly. Your mind is a blank. Most of your sense have shut down. As you look at the utensils around the kitchen, you think of how they're being used on John.\n\nIn a flash you're at the sink, spitting up what little food was left in your stomach. You let the water run to rinse it down.\n\nYou and your friends had come to this place to relax, to get away from civilization for a while. To get away from problems. You'd all had problems. \n\nA mansion a few miles away from society. No reception? No problem. They hadn't wanted to be bothered anyway. No papers to sign? Cash only? "What happened?"\n\nHe sighs. "They got to Wesley, on of my oldest and dearest friends. He trained with me in the mountains in Asia when we were younger. He decided not to join me as a thief and became a professor instead. He was a good man." You shudder, remembering how he held you. "Well, people change I suppose. In any case, I probably blew him to hell. He certainly deserves it after that."\n\nHe moves close to you, cupping your face in his hands. And I saved you didn't I?"\n\nYou turn a little red thinking that he probably had to give you mouth to mouth.\n\n"What about the others?" you ask, changing the topic.\n\n"Well, all our radio equipment went down with the van, so we're on our own for now. I'm sure Joey will find a way to find us though. Until then, we better get moving."\n\nYou look around for the first time, suddenly recognizing this small beachy area under a bridge. You swish the wine around gently in your glass before taking a sip. Red lipstick stains the edge.\n\nYou take a moment to appraise your situation. Everything is in its place, everything is in order. The bed has been made; not a single sign that anything was disturbed last night. Though of course things were very much disturbed. Your biggest suitcase lies on the ground, already packed.\n\nAn island getaway is what he promised you. Away from all this mess, all this media attention. Whoever said that any pubilicity is good publicity was certainly wrong; you can barely cross the street without one of your neighbours giving you the evil eye.\n\nPoison. That's what killed your husband. Anyone could have done it; there was no definitive evidence. Of course, that means you are the only suspect, the only one with motive. You stand to inherit the mansion, his money and investments, his condo in Miami, even his prized poodle. All of that, in addition to a very hefty life insurance policy, would leave you set for life without ever having to lift your finger to do any work.\n\nYou sigh and take another sip of your wine, only to realize your glass is empty.\n\n* [[Bring your suitcase downstairs.|morewine2]]\n* [[Fill your glass.|morewine1]]\n\n

You leave the bedroom and head downstairs to the kitchen. Everything is immaculately clean, but oddly impersonalized. That would change when you bought a new house. Somewhere in California might be nice.\n\nAs you pour your glass you think about your times together. At first, he'd swept you off your feet. All the money, all the parties, his carefree smile, had drawn you in. And you, with your sweet, sultry voice and the sway in your step... You were the trophy wife. He tosses you into the boat as you protest.\n\n"John! John!" you yell, not leaving the boat, but watching as he toys with a computer. A countdown starts, and a loud noise can be hear from upstairs.\n\n"Looks like they got the door," he laughs, pressing a final button that opens one of the walls on the side of the pool. You squint as the sun fills the dark room, and gasp in surprise as John jumps in beside you, quickly stashing what you recognize to be the diamond in a compartment. He immediately starts the boat and zooms out and way. You shriek and duck as you hear gunfire, but John just laughs. \n\nYou're quite a ways away from the mansion now when suddenly it bursts into flames. You can't help but stare at the grand explosion. He must have slipped on whatever was knocked out of the bucket.\n\nEventually, the chainsaw stops working. By then you're covered in blood.\n\nYou'd been sitting quietly, but now you stand up and circle the corpse. It doesn't move; the man's eyes are wide open in shock and fear.\n\nYou pause for a moment before turning around and reaching for an axe, the same axe that killed John. You raise it above your head and with one swift motion chop his head clean off.\n\nYou didn't think you had that kind of strength in you.\n\nAs the head rolls away, you drop the axe, your face scrunching up, tears rolling and snot forming at the tip of your nose. There's venom in his voice now, and you feel a little frightened.\n\n"Why didn't you just tell me John? I could have gotten a divorce, especially with those pictures you took!"\n\nHe laughs. "Are you kidding? Ever since you got married you've been hanging onto Joe like he's Jesus. You never once showed signs that you were unhappy, or willing to get a divorce. It's been two weeks now that you've stayed at the motel in your home town. You've taken the time to explore familiar places, old memories flooding back to you. Some make you happy, some make you cry. You visit the beach often. It's where you are now.\n\nYour shoes are off to the side as you let the warm sand in between your toes. Your eyes are closed, and you focus on the sound of the water.\n\n"Hey."\n\nThe familiar voice startles you, but you don't jump. You open your eyes and look behind you. You feel odd.\n\n"John, hey," you say, staying where you are. "What are you doing here?"\n\n"I came to find you," he replies. "You left without saying anything. I've been looking for you since you left. I asked your landlord, I eventually found out where you worked and asked there, I tried your phone..."\n\n"I threw it out a window," you reply. He laughs. You smile.\n\n"Why'd you leave?" There's concern written all over his face. "Did I... Did I do something wrong?"\n\nYou shake your head. "No... You did everything... Right." He looks confused now. "I can't handle people falling in love with me," you admit, shaking your head. "And I especially can't handle falling in love. I've been in too many relationships, lost too many people..." You pause and sigh. \n\nHe walks up to you, placing a solid hand on your shoulder. "Let me in," he says seriously.\n\nYou're about to make a 'that's what she said' joke, but think better of it.\n\nYou nod and put on your shoes. "Come on, I'll show you around."\n\nYou spend the next few days showing him where you grew up, telling him all your memories, your deep dark secrets. He stays at the same motel, but in a different room, until the sixth night, when you invite him to yours. As you lie naked on the sheets, you talk about going back to the city to try again.\n\n[[END.|scene3alexisend]]

The next few days are wonderful in a way. You get to speak to him everyday at work, and because of your conversation that night, you have even more to talk about. It's never awkward, and he seems to prefer talking to you more than anyone else. You even have your lunch breaks together. But the entire time, you never feel as if he's looking at you... //that way//. It's always platonic.\n\nYou visit your sister over the weekend. She's been calling you and can always tell by your voice when something is up. She's insisted you go over.\n\nWhen you're there, her husband says hello, plants a kiss on his wife's cheek, and takes their son out to the park, leaving you two to talk. You wish that was the life you and John had.\n\nAs usual, your sister pries everything from you. Every last detail.\n\n"See!" she exclaims, jumping excitedly. "I knew you could get someone's attention! Now you just have to get his //attention//." You don't like the way she says that last bit.\n\n"He has a //girlfriend//," you counter, looking away.\n\n"Yeah, but he's clearly unhappy. They're going to break up soon, just you see. And when that happens, you need to be //ready//."\n\n"What are you implying?" you ask nervously.\n\nHer face is deadpan. You shake your head. "Don't you have a girlfriend or something?"\n\nHe smiles. "I do. Her name is Jane. And don't worry, she already knows the situation. Here." He hands you his cell phone. "Call her and ask if you like."\n\nYou shake your head, trying to think of another excuse.\n\n"It's a Monday."\n\n"Exactly! So it'll be quiet and we can talk and get to know each other. You're literally the only person in this office I haven't gotten to know yet."\n\nYou're a little impressed. He's only been around for one day.\n\nBefore you protest any more he grabs you by the arm and pulls you to the bar a couple of blocks away. \n\nThe night itself goes by smoothly. You both get a little tipsy, and find yourselves telling each other a lot more than either of you expected. You find out he's more than just that popular guy: he's always volunteering, and always visiting his family who lives far away whenever he gets the chance. He loves animals, and he cries at the end of //Titanic// every time. He's perfect. But he's taken.\n\nHe speaks fondly of his girlfriend: how beautiful she is, and how she treats him well enough. But you sense there's something a little off. He moved all the way here so she could focus on her career, so he had to leave his old job behind. They moved into an apartment specifically because she liked it: he found it too big and not worth the cost. She has a cat he's allergic to, so he's constantly having trouble sleeping at night. And her clothes take up more than half the closet. All this he reveals subtly, not saying it outright, but you infer it from what he says.\n\nYou can't help but think to yourself that you would treat him better.\n\nYou're both verging on drunk now. That key point in time where anything can happen, and you can blame it on the alcohol. There's no way either of you are driving.\n\nThinking it's time to go, he offers to walk you home. You tell him you live pretty far and that it might be better to take a cab, but he insists it's nice out, and the air will sober him up. Before you is a being unlike any you've ever seen before. He has engaging blue eyes and short messy hair. His clothes are fashionable and not overtly masculine. The concern on his face is genuine; the shock on yours is too.\n\nYou think this might be it. He's the one. The one you're meant to be with the rest of your life.\n\nWhile you're not sure how real relationships work, you know from the shows you've seen that beautiful romances usually start from scenes like this. Neither of you have baggage, but you'll have to ditch your weapons before taking the flight.\n\nKnowing that the //Fierce Tiger// would be watching for any suspicious hacking, you did not ask John to buy your tickets. You would buy the next flight, any flight, out of the city as soon as possible.\n\nYou leave the motorcycle a little ways away, walking to the airport covered in a long overcoat, John in his regular clothes, but with a cap. He thought it might hide his face.\n\nYou see a select few of the organization scattered about, easily noticed by their striking tiger tattoos on their necks.\n\n"What a ridiculous spot for a crime gang tattoo," John scoffed when you pointed it out. "What stupid plan?" you yell.\n\nYou realize you're yelling because there is a loud noise that eventually overpowers your voice. John smiles. "That one," you see him mouth. You follow his case to see a helicopter. A big one. Big enough for a car.\n\n"Oh, you're kidding me," you say to yourself.\n\nAs your pursuers burst onto the roof, John hits the gas and drives straight for the helicopter. You shriek as you drive off a conveniently place ramp and into the helicopter. You hear gunfire, but it's quickly muffled as the door is shut and the helicopter flies away.\n\n"Phew!" you hear John exclaim, laughing. You grab your coat and keys and head out. Looking at the time, you see it's almost 10:00 pm. Jason's usually home by now, but you try not to worry. It's Saturday; he usually hangs out with Joe, one of the only friends he has left. You smile a little. They've been friends since they were young. Joe's parents never believed you would murder John, and Joe would never abandon Jason. They're like brothers.\n\nAs you drive you realize you're not exactly sure where you're going. You have only two leads, and at this point you're getting desperate.\n\nThe culprit could possibly be Miss Jane, one of Jason's teachers. You remember how after meeting her, John felt she had been coming onto him a little strong. It never fazed you of course; you never saw John as the cheating type. Still, he could have let her in the house out of kindness, and then she killed him.\n\nThe only other possible lead would be a break in. You noticed a few days after the murder that a valuable antique was missing from the mantle above the fireplace. You told the police and they said they'd look into it, but they were skeptical because there was no sign of a break in. But maybe it was someone you know, someone John might let in. You're thinking specifically of Jordan, the teenage boy John would coach in basketball. John had taken a special liking to the boy, but he's always smoking weed, and while he seems to be a nice kid, maybe he needed the money...\n\n* [[Call Jane from a phone booth.|jordanhangout2]]\n* [[Try to find Jordan at his usual hangout.|jordanhangout1]]

Well the bloodlust kind of came after. It's literally just a coincidence that you guys came to the cabin I was waiting in and I--"\n\nJohnny never finished his rant. As you pull your hands away from your face you see that he's been stabbed straight through by an extremely pointy stick.\n\nHe coughs and drools as he drops to the ground. \n\n"Jane!" you cry, so pleasantly surprised to see your friend. "I thought you were stabbed!"\n\n"Yes," she replied. "Multiple times. But I'm a med student so I stitched myself up and came to help your sorry ass." She looked towards the van. As she does, you notice her shirt is sliced open and there are bloody rags wrapped around her torso. "Got the keys?"\n\n"Why didn't he know about the van?" you ask, nodding and going up to her.\n\n"You didn't hear him just now? He was just in the cabin the whole time. He's had that same face since he was a young boy. Your anxieties and concerns disappear when you see that face, and as you pull out of the driveway, you are more certain of your decision than ever. After all, what kind of mother would you be if you weren't there for your child?\n\n[[END.|scene2emmaend]]
You think you've said enough. [[If he hasn't fallen for you now, he never will.|leavedontgo1]]
You simply can't stop sobbing. Your face is all scrunched up, and snot has started to drip from your nose. But you don't care. After everything that's happened, you just don't care.\n\nYou can't get rid of the image of John's head getting chopped off. The look of surprise stayed on his face even as his head rolled along the floor. You were both surprised. He was in the middle of his speech about how much he loved you and would always be there for you no matter what. Of course now you'd never get to hear the rest of it.\n\nOf everything in your shitty life, John was the only thing left worth living for. He was your light, your shining star. And now it was snuffed out.\n\nYou shouldn't even have run away. You should have just stayed put and let the murderer kill you. Instead you'd run, leaving poor John's body alone with his killer. \n\nYou knew what the murderer would do. Take his body back to the tiny shack off to the side, chop it up into little pieces, and bake a pie with the good bits.\n\nYou shudder at the thought. \n\nEventually you wipe your eyes and your nose. You're completely covered in his blood.\n\n* [[Get moving.|leave1]]\n* [[Stay put a little longer.|leave2]]
"I'll leave now," you say sadly, pulling yourself together enough to head to the door. He doesn't stop you as you go.\n\nYou think of taking the elevator, but you're so used to sneaking around the staircase, you might as well leave the way you always have.\n\nAs you make your way to the staircase door, you hear his voice.\n\n"Wait, stop, hold on!"\n\nYou pause, wiping your face again. You turn around as he walks up to you. \n\n"Look, I'm sorry. Maybe I was a little harsh. You seem... Harmless..."\n\nYou nod vigorously. "I just want to get married!"\n\nHe looks around quickly to make sure no one hears. Then he sighs. "Okay, look, I'm not ready to get married, or be your fiance, or be your boyfriend, or even date. But maybe we can be friends?"\n\nIt takes you a moment to realize what he's saying, and slowly, your face brightens. This was it, the moment of recognition, his official consent to let you into his life!\n\n"Yes, that sounds great!" you exclaim.\n\nYou notice he can't help but smile. "Okay, great. So... Just... Maybe stop following me everywhere, and we can go for coffee sometime..."\n\nA second date! Your heart races faster. But stop following him? Stop protecting him from all those other girls that are so obviously wrong for him? You cross your fingers behind your back.\n\n"Absolutely!"\n\n[[END.|scene3zoeend]]
It's not long before you see the glowing red eyes and sharp teeth. He's grown way too big for his clothing too. You remember your teacher as small and scrawny. Now he was just this... Thing...\n\n* [[Taunt him.|taunt1]]\n* [[Move up and circle him.|taunt2]]
You're about to get up and move when you suddenly hear a noise and some heavy breathing that makes you [[stay put|hereheis1]].
You look him in the eyes and lie. You've always been good at that.\n\n"Naw man, it's just me. I needed a place to hide out after escaping the police when they nabbed me." Yeah, that would be the story you would tell.\n\n"Good." You're shocked when he pulls out a gun.\n\nYour heart breaks, and the only thing you can say is, "Why?"\n\nTears come to his eyes. "They have my girlfriend." You shake your head, still shocked. "Makayla, I'm so sorry. They promise they won't hurt either of you, so long as you get your cop friend to hand over the briefcase."\n\nYou can't bring yourself to say anything as he leads you to a whole group of cars parked out front. You see your brother's girlfriend held at gun point by some bald guy. Why were so many of them bald?\n\nA man with dark hair and eyes exits one of the cars, arms extended, as if coming out to greet an old friend.\n\n"Ah, Makayla isn't it?" he asks. He even has a damn British accent.\n\nYou nod. "What of it?"\n\n"What of it indeed. Listen my dear, I need you to convince your friend John to hand over the briefcase. It's very important we have it. If not," he gestures towards your brother's girl. "Well, you get the idea."\n\nYou shake your head. "We were separated. I have no idea where the idiot is."\n\nHe hits you, hard. Your brother tries to protest but some goons grab him.\n\n"Don't lie to me my dear. It isn't becoming of a lady. We know he's in there. And if you don't negotiate for us, we'll kill your brother. How does that sound?"\n\n* [[Follow his demands.|savetheday1]]\n* [[Make a break for it.|savetheday2]]
You walk on ahead of him as he drips on the carpet in front of the door.\n\n"You want some tea?" you ask, heading towards the kitchen.\n\n"No, thanks," he replies, sounding nervous. "You want me to lock the door?"\n\n* [["Yes."|nolocking2]]\n* [["No."|nolocking1]]
When you ask why everyone wants him so badly, he shrugs. "Power. Greed. Take down someone else. Who knows. It's never good." You nod slowly. He looks at the floor. "I just wanted to live my life..."\n\nThe silence is awkward. [[You need to break it.|openingup1]]
Your first instinct is to phone the police, until you remember you just touched the bodies, and are likely covered in blood. While Jason's safety is your top priority, you also know that if there's a chance he //did// escape, you can't afford to implicate yourself in any more murders. [[You run to your car instead.| headhome1]]
You tell him to go away and begin to close the door, but his hand shoots out and holds it open. You look up at that face again, then your eye trails down to the abs beneath his shirt.\n\nHe's stronger than you and you don't put up much of a fight; he pulls the door open and [[steps inside|enterjohn1]].
You try to get John to stop, but he's too strong for you. You yell his name, yell for him to stop, trying to ask him what's going on. He doesn't comply to anything. Running out of breath, you [[turn to look behind you|seeshooters1]].

You slowly push John off of you. He's big, and strong, but he would never hurt you. At least you don't think he would.\n\n"I was blind," you begin to say, slowly moving to the other side of the kitchen. "So blind."\n\nHe stays where he is, silent in anticipation.\n\n"I found the knife in your suitcase John." You're still crying, and your voice cracks as you say this.\n\nHe pauses, contemplating. "It's not what you think. My parents gave me that as a gift after Joe died. They were worried for my safety..." He trails off, seeing you're not convinced.\n\n"Damn it John!" Your face scrunches up and you have to take some deep breaths. You enter a portion of the museum dedicated to ancient Egyptian life and culture. You take a moment to browse the artifacts there. Realizing it was cliche, this was the section where your teacher touched the item that changed him. What was it... A book of sorts?\n\nYou have trouble finding it now.\n\nYou pass different displays until you come across a strange statue. It's hidden in shadow and doesn't suit the rest of the exhibit. With horror you realize it's the monster you thought you left behind downstairs. There must have been another way out of the basement.\n\nThe thing grins at you.\n\n* [[Grin back and don't back down.|grinning1]]\n* [[Get the hell out of there.|grinning2]]

As much as you'd like to give in to your fantasies, this is where [[it has to stop|timetotalk1]].
The closer you get to the van the taller the grass seems to get, and the more difficult it is for you to keep quiet. It takes everything in your power to not yell whenever something brushes up against your leg.\n\nThough it's dark, the moon is bright, and in the distance you see the soft glow of white that is the van. You remember that you parked it there because you were worried about pirates. Well, now you had something worse than pirates to deal with.\n\nJust as you start to get your hopes up, you notice a change in the sound of the grass moving beneath you. It's louder, and sometimes off from how you're stepping. With a gasp, you turn around.\n\nNot a few feet away from you is the killer, his crazy-eyed horse mask shining with the blood of your friends, his knives seeming to glow red under the light of the moon.\n\nYou try to remember the self defense lessons your dad forced you to take last year. You were the best in your class.\n\n* [[Run towards the van.|runaway1]]\n* [[Stand your ground and fight the bastard.|runaway2]]
You decide to head to your left, tiptoeing as quietly as possible. It's not long before you come across where Jeff's cellphone is. Then you remember why he dropped it. It was in his pocket while he was being stabbed to death. It dropped when he did. You can see his body even in the dark, and can hear the flies. This means the phone is near his body. Which means you'd have to touch his body. Which means there's no way in hell you're getting the phone.\n\nYou turn back, shivering, and [[head to the van instead|van1]].\n
While you think that plan is pretty slick, clever, cute and subtle, you think you have one that's even better. [[It's certainly bound to get you noticed.|gmorning1]]
It's 6:00 AM when you're right at your man's apartment door, waiting for him to exit. You're not sure of his routine yet, but it's a safe bet he won't leave earlier than this.\n\nTime passes, and people stare at you as they leave their own apartments. You're still as a statue because you're nervous, so you can see why people may think you're acting a little strange.\n\nIt's around 9:00 AM when the door finally opens.\n\n"Good morning!" you shout. He was great. The talking was great. The wine was great. The sex was amazing. But something's changed in you. You feel a sudden panic, a need to escape. You need to get out of this city.\n\nYou barely know this John at all, but suddenly he's... dependent on you. You're not used to that. You can't handle that. It's always been just you and your choices. You always tried to do good, but never thought you'd let anyone be so attached. Or let yourself get attached.\n\nYou pack your suitcase that night, leaving everything as is, and buy tickets for the first bus out of the city. Remembering you exchanged numbers with John, at his request, you open the window and toss your phone. Other passengers look at you strangely, but you don't care.\n\nYou only begin to calm down when you reach your old home town and settle in a motel room, not far from the beach.\n\nMaybe you don't have to stay permanently. Maybe you can just take a vacation and then go back. You may lose your job by then, but at least you could patch things up with John. Make it work somehow. Like a normal person.\n\n* [[Stay only for a couple of days.|lovescene2]]\n* [[Stay indefinitely.|lovescene1]]
You think that now is not the time to bother him. You begin to step away, when you accidentally bump into the wall. The noise is soft, but it's quiet in the office, and John hears you.\n\n"Who's there?" he exclaims, sounding startled.\n\nYou sigh, not wanting to feel like a creeper and run away. You peer shyly around the doorway. \n\n"Hey," you whisper, about to reach to fix your glasses, when you realize you're wearing contacts now.\n\n"Oh, hey," he says with some energy, getting up. "Come in, come in." He motions to a chair.\n\nYou walk in, but don't sit down. "I just wanted to say goodnight," you whisper, not looking directly at him. Your eyes wander around the room, stopping at a picture on his desk of him and his girlfriend smiling.\n\n"Did you hear any of that?" he asks. You know what he's referring to. You nod. \n\nFollowing your gaze, he reaches over and pushes the picture facedown. He then walks around his desk towards you. You still can't look at him, but he gently lifts your chin up.\n\n"I want you Lily," he whispers. You look for some form of insincerity, but there's never been any. Not in his eyes. \n\n"I always have," he continues. "I don't know why it took me so long to realize this but, when you walked in today... I don't know, something just snapped." He pauses, then lets you go, taking a step back. He laughs, but there's no humor to it. "I guess I seem like a jerk, huh?"\n\nYou think for a moment, then bridge the gap between you, kissing him gently. You look up and smile. "Need a place to stay tonight?"\n\n[[END.|scene3lilyend]]

You start to nod off in your chair. You hear some rustling, and feel yourself lifted in the air and placed on something soft. Looks like he's found the spare blankets. You wish you'd thought of it first, and feel almost disgusted at yourself for not thinking of it. But you can't help but feel the gesture is sweet.\n\nSweet. That's probably the word you'd use to describe John. He may look down on the area where you come from, but he never treated you like trash, even when you may have deserved it.\n\nHe's about to let go, but you reach up and wrap your arms around his neck instead. Your chest arches up, connecting with his, as you kiss him. He returns it, but as your tired arms let go, he pulls away and lets you drift off to sleep.\n\nYou're awoken by sunlight seeping in through the window.\n\nYou look over to see John asleep in a chair, as if he's been watching over you all night. "God, what did I do to deserve this shit!" you yell over the gunfire as you reload your gun. You've nearly been killed over fifty times just this past night. You've never had your life in so much danger, not even back home.\n\nFinished reloading, you lean from inside the van and begin shooting. It's hard to hit anything when both vehicles are moving at top speed. Suddenly, you're slammed again the wall and your vehicle makes a sudden turn. You yell a stream of insults in your mother tongue to curse the bastard driving.\n\nThe detective turns around. "Watch that tongue missy."\n\n"Just keep your eyes on the road stupid," you respond, going back to shooting your target. You haven't been able to shake them yet. You're no good with a gun, and he can't drive. Ironic, when you're the mechanic and he's the cop. Or ex-cop. Stealing from the White House is no small thing. "Runaway with me," you whisper again, this time sealing it with a passionate kiss. It's a moment before John slides off of you and hits the ground. You stare at the bullet hole in his back. Staring at him a little longer, you see he's not breathing.\n\nYou look up to see your lover, Jack, in the doorway. \n\nHe sighs and puts his gun away. "We're really going to have to leave now."\n\nYou nod, fixing your hair. His voice was so much deeper and rougher than John's, and his kisses weren't as soft.\n\n"My bag's upstairs. I'm ready to leave."\n\nHe nods and walks by you, stepping over John's body. You move to the mirror to adjust your dress and check your makeup. Your lipstick will need touching up.\n\nYou turn to face Jack as he comes to pass you to head to the door and gasp as he grabs your face, roughly.\n\n"None of this shit in Orlando," he whispers threateningly. You nod, squeezing your eyes shut as he slams his mouth against yours.\n\nBefore following him out the door, you take one last, longing look at the body on the floor. You tap the pipe rhythmically against the wall. It's loud in the vast, empty basement, and annoying. But you don't mind, because to you it's not a nervous tick. It's a summoning. You're calling out to your prey, daring them to come out and play.\n\nYou can still feel the tears drying on your face, the ones you couldn't help when you helplessly watched John get murdered. You wish now you'd tried harder. But how were you supposed to know your teacher would get possessed and start killing everyone? After the amount of times he'd warned them not to touch anything in the museum, he had to go and touch something cursed.\n\nOf course, nobody realized it at first. He just seemed a little off, going around talking to himself. He disappeared from time to time; only later did you find out it was to slash the tires of the mini bus and get a chainsaw from the gardening shed.\n\nHe killed everyone; the gardener, the curator, even the nice museum lady who was showing you around. <big><strong>Action</big></strong>\n\nNow, let's spice things up with some action!\n\nIn this scenario you're on the run. Having just escaped a building with your partner in crime, you're trying to get away from the bad guys who want something from you. The building is exploding in the background as you head off in your getaway vehicle. Your goal is to survive the chase and reach that typical, satisfying ending.\n\n\nFor this scenario, you can be:\n\n\n[[Makayla|scene4makayla]]\nShe's really gotten herself into a mess this time. If she hadn't gotten caught stealing a car those few weeks ago, she never would have found herself having to work with this stick-up-his-butt cop just to stay out of jail. Her skills as a mechanic have come in handy in their rag-tag group of people, each specilizing in something different. Their goal; steal a document from the whitehouse before the bad guys can. Why? Because no one would believe a cop and a group of misfits. Personally, Makayla doesn't give a shit. She just wants to make it out alive. Right now, that's hard to picture as the black van they're in is hitting the road at top speed, taking evasive maneuvres from some serious gun fire. This latina wishes she'd never left home that day.\n\n\n\n[[Savannah|scene4savannah]]\nDespite her initial misconceptions about the man pushing the slick black car to its limits beside her, she can never deny that she owes him her life. Were it not for him, she would have been traded off as a sex slave to one of the most devious men running the city of New York. Now, she finds herself an accomplice to the theft of one of his most precious jewels; the red leopard. While her new partner may be a thief, and while saving her may have been an accident, he takes care of her, and in this land so far from her home in Lebanon, that's more than she could ever ask for.\n\n\n\n[[Mei|scene4mei]]\nShe never wanted to be an assassin, but never really got the choice. With both her parents being members of //The Order of the Sacred Dragon in China//, her life was determined for her. They trained her well physically and mentally. She learned about the politics of different countries and how to speak their languages: it was never certain where her work would take her. She never thought in her wildest dreams that she'd be riding a motorcycle in America with a clueless young man clinging to her like she was his only hope. Which... She was. Why this //Fierce Tiger// organization wants him so badly, she still doesn't quite understand. He certainly doesn't seem smart enough to be able to hack into NASA. Still, her order commanded her to retrieve him in good health, and that's what she intends to do.\n\n\n\n\nSo there you have it! <big><strong>Crime Drama</big></strong>\n\nWell, now that that ordeal is over, let's change it up a bit with some //drama//.\n\nIn this particular scenario, your husband has been murdered. The police see you as the main suspect. You've been trying to find out who the real killer is this entire time, and now you are about to enter a showdown. The goal is to come out the victor by any means necessary.\n\n\nFor this scenario, you can be:\n\n\n\n[[Hannah|scene2hannah]]\nShe always had trouble finding the right man, until she met John and his brother Joe. In the end she chose to marry Joe, but still harboured secret, deep emotional feelings for John. After Joe's murder and fueled by her desperate need not to be alone, the two of them became close once again. Very close. But now, figuring out who the murderer is, it's difficult to say if their relationship will last. Perhaps love can overcome any pain.\n\n\n\n[[Charlotte|scene2charlotte]]\nWhen she first met her husband their relationship was the talk of the town. Every night was a party, every day an adventure. All their friends thought they were the absolutely perfect couple. That is, until he was murdered. Charlotte, ever unconsciously the seductive type, was blamed almost immediately. She's kept a calm head, and luckily has had some help proving her innocence thus far: Detective John doesn't believe her to be the femme fatale the police do. Now she is about to face the killer alone; will John make it in time?\n\n\n\n[[Emma|scene2emma]]\nSince she was young Emma has always been the nurturing type, with a great need to take care of others. It was that way for her first husband and her son Jason. After her husband passed of a heart attack she remarried, hoping it would provide a more stable life for her now 18 year old son. However, not long after their marriage, she found her new husband dead in the living room when she returned home from work. Though there is little evidence, the police are clearly looking in her direction. Now, as the movie draws to a close, the real killer is about to reveal themselves.\n\n\n\n\n\nSo there you have it! Go ahead and click one of the names to begin your next Chick Flick experience.\n\nIt's still //really// important to remember that no matter who you choose, you're thin and white and attractive.\n\nHave fun. :)
<big><strong>Romantic Comedy</big></strong>\n\nTime to brighten the mood a little with some romance and lighthearted humor!\n\nThis scenario finds you innocently buying a cup of coffee. Just as you turn around, someone bumps into you, not only making you lose your drink, but effectively staining your shirt. You're steaming at first, but then look up to see the man of your dreams, looking genuinely apologetic as he apologizes profusely. While you may not necessarily want to make him yours right away, you definitely want to get to know him better.\n\n\nFor this scenario, you can be:\n\n\n[[Zoe|scene3zoe]]\nShe's always been a little... odd. Her parents were always very conservative, so they rarely let her out to play with other kids when she was young. Whenever they did it was a disaster anyway. Most of what she knows of and expects from life comes from watching Japanese anime. Doing little exercise, she maintains her figure through a strict diet of ramen noodles and coffee. With these unrealistic expectations, and believing she's finally found her senpai, Zoe is willing to do whatever it takes to make this boy hers. It might make her a little clingy and psychotic, but it's the end result that matters, right?\n\n\n\n[[Lily|scene3lily]]\nAlways hiding her body in huge sweaters, keeping her head in her books, wearing big clunky glasses on her face, Lily tries to keep herself at a reasonable distance from other humans. She's shy, and barely manages to order her coffee in the morning. When she bumps into John, she feels her life has suddenly taken an irreversable turn. It's love at first sight, and while he may feel she's invisible, she'll do whatever she has to do to catch his eye.\n\n\n\n[[Alexis|scene3alexis]]\nShe's never been quite normal per se. Her energy levels have always seemed to be a notch above everyone else's, and she's always down to try new things and go on adventures. In fact, it's her first time at this particular coffee shop. When she bumps into John, she feels a connection. For him, it's love at first sight for this offbeat pixie dream girl. For her, it's extreme interest, and an experiment to see how far they can go.\n\n\n\n\n\nSo there you have it! <big><strong>Horror</big></strong>\n\nWe're starting off our journey pretty intense!\n\nWARNING: If you are sensitive to descriptive blood and otherworldly phenomenon, skip this section! I'm sure [[crime drama|scene2]] will be much easier on you.\n\nIn this horror flick all your friends have died, leaving you the last one to either kill the masked serial killer once and for all, or escape the situation in good enough health for a sequel.\n\n\nFor this scenario, you can be:\n\n\n[[Claire|scene1claire]]\nAirhead with a heart of gold, it's truly a mystery how she managed to survive this far. Well, actually, it's not. The last of her group of friends died trying to keep her alive. Guess they kind of owed her for all those //fun times//. But there's not much of a better motivator than a guilty conscience. She may not have a lot going on upstairs, but she's got lungs like Adele. She may be able to scream the serial killer to death.\n\n\n\n[[Jess|scene1jess]]\nHer mother died giving birth to her. Her single father is eccentric but couldn't raise her and her annoying sister for peas. A couple of weeks ago her dog died, her grades at school suck, and she literally just finished watching her boyfriend, the one really good thing in her life, get his head chopped off. At least they got to //get it on// one last time. She's broken, and she cries a lot, but she's got the will to survive. Kind of.\n\n\n\n[[Laney|scene1laney]]\nHer parents got divorced when she was twelve and she's lived with her mother ever since. Her father is estranged and she's an only child. Her only outlet for the deep frustration she feels inside is her sport activities. She sets up a strong wall and has yet to let anyone in. Except for John; he was getting close this time. Too bad he was just cut in half with a chainsaw. Almost lost her virginity too. Still, she's always been a strong, independent girl who doesn't need any man. \n\n\n\n\nSo there you have it! Go ahead and click one of the names to begin your Chick Flick experience.\n\nBy the way, it's //really// important to remember that no matter who you choose, you're young, thin and white.\n\nHave fun. :)
As the keys fall into Jane's hand you feel a sharp pain in your abdomen. Suddenly blood starts to flow from your mouth.\n\n"You... you...." is all you can get out as you lie on the ground, looking up at Jane who smiles down at you wickedly.\n\n"God you're so dense. I've been working with Johnny the whole time. Ever wonder why my travel agent parents always insist people come to this place? //We're// the ones who adopted him. He was supposed to leave our group alone when we came here, but when he saw his twin in person he snapped and decided to betray me." She tosses her stick to the ground. "I can't stand the idea of traveling back with an airhead like you. Later loser."\n\nYour sight fades as Jane walks away, twirling the keys around her finger, and whistling a tune you don't recognize.\n\n[[END.|scene1claireend]]
You let your eyes water and your face flush. \n\n"Oh John!" You let your wine glass fall to the carpet as you rush into his arms. He releases his grip on your wrist and embraces you instead, holding you tight and caressing your head.\n\n"He was hurting me John!" you cry, sobbing heavily. "I couldn't handle it anymore!" You pull away, gripping his jacket, and look into his eyes. You see nothing but pity and love. "Oh John, you won't tell anyone, will you?"\n\nYou search his face carefully, watching every twitch of his muscles as he debates what to say. "I can't Charlotte... You //murdered// the man in cold blood. It was premeditated... I can't..."\n\nYou cut him off, placing a finger gently on his lips. "Runaway with me," you whisper, leaning in close. You see the struggle on his face, how it's killing him on the inside. You can't help but love the pure, innocent good in him. You also can't help but love your freedom. And money.\n\n* [[Distract him and quickly make your getaway.|seduce2]]\n* [[Try to persuade him some more.|seduce1]]
Out of habit you're about to tell him yes, but then you [[think better of it|nolocking1]].
You turn smoothly down the streets and focus on your task at hand. You ignore the bullets flying by you, the loud engine of the car as it tries to maintain speed with you, and the loudmouth clinging to you for dear life.\n\n"Why'd you choose a motorcycle?" he asked for the hundredth time. She was glad his voice was muffled by the helmet and the sounds of the engine. Speed. Versatility. Concepts he should well understand. Wasn't he supposed to be brilliant? Isn't this why the organization sent you to fetch him? For the hundredth time, you choose not to answer him.\n\nYou do, however, swing into a tight alleyway. This was the chance you've been waiting for. You zoom through towards the exit. The car is stopped at the entrance, shooting less now, more carefully. They can't afford to hit John. They need him.\n\nThey are, however, aiming for your tires.\n\nAs soon as you reach the exit you turn off, zooming down the sidewalk, pedestrians jumping out of the way.\n\n"Turn left! Turn left!" your package yells behind you. "There's a warehouse! A warehouse!"\n\nYou're annoyed that he feels the need to repeat everything. Just because he's only heard you speak Mandarin doesn't mean you don't speak english.\n\nYou stop the motorcycle at his direction, parking it in an alley beside the building. You look up as you turn off the engine and John jumps off, throwing off his helmet and falling to his knees, kissing the ground. Literally.\n\nYou shake your head as you take off your helment, long dark hair falling well past your shoulders. Your tight black suit doesn't make a sound as you get of the vehicle.\n\nYou notice the man is staring up at you in awe.\n\n* [[Help him up.|warehouse2]]\n* [[Enter the warehouse.|warehouse1]]
"It's alright," you say, coming back with a warm cup of tea. "You'll probably be leaving soon anyway."\n\nJohn shakes his head. "I knew something was wrong. I haven't heard from you since last night! You just left my apartment without saying a word!" Apparently not giving a damn about the state of your floors, he steps forward.\n\n* [[Ask if he wants a towel.|staysilent2]]\n* [[Stay silent.|staysilent1]]
You lean into his hand and lift yourself off the counter. You think it could take you five seconds to get that shirt off.\n\nHe leans in and kisses you, passionately. You lean in. For a moment, the world is right. You think you could just let everything go, take John on a nice vacation, maybe even get married. Have kids.\n\nBut life doesn't work that way.\n\n* [[Pull away.|timetotalk1]]\n* [[Enjoy it a little longer.|timetotalk2]]
You try to let it all spill out, but his touch is just [[so distracting|kissscene1]].
You're on a serious adrenaline rush right now. [[You can't sit still.|findknife1]]
Tears form in your eyes and you rush to the kitchen. You place the cup of tea on the counter, hard enough that it spills over, and lean over the sink, sobbing so hard you think you might vomit.\n\nJohn rushes in after you. He grabs you by the shoulders and spins you around, keeping you backed up against the counter. His still wet hands caress your face.\n\n"Hannah, talk to me," he whispers huskily.\n\n* [[Tell him everything.|kissscene2]]\n* [[Enjoy his touch.|kissscene1]]
[[Words simply won't come out.|goesandcries1]]
You make a quick sweep of the kitchen before stopping in front of a large knife. You test its sharpness on your finger; it cuts instantly.\n\nYou head out the door, not wanting to think about what you're doing before you change your mind.\n\n* [[Search the house for more useful items.|shackfaceoff2]]\n* [[Head straight to the shack.|shackfaceoff1]]
Looks like Hannah doesn't ever have to worry about being alone! She'll be just fine so long as there's another man around the corner. Preferably one that won't kill for her.\n\nNow you can simulate another lady from the [[crime drama genre|scene2]] or [[move on to the next one|scene3]].
Everyone at the office stares at you the next day as you come in. Your hair falls in graceful curls, no longer the mess of a bun you always kept it. Gone is the big sweater and black pants, present is the pencil skirt and white blouse that shows just how curvacious you really are.\n\nYou bump into John as he's looking over some papers. You say hello. He looks up smiling, when suddenly his face drops as he takes in your new look.\n\n"Hey..." he replies. "Umm.. Yeah I just have to finish this. I'll talk to you later." He hurries off before you can say anything.\n\nThe rest of the day you get more attention than ever before, especially from your male coworkers. You hear the women joking about how maybe instead of being sick the past three days you've been in a cocoon. You haven't felt this confident... Well, since the day you were born.\n\nYou barely have time to talk to John, but he doesn't seem to want to talk to you anyway. You're a little frustrated. You thought you could at least be friends, and you certainly didn't think a makeover would make him want to stop talking to you.\n\nAt the end of the day you hang around your desk, finishing off a couple of things. Everyone says good-bye to you as they leave, and eventually you find yourself alone.\n\nNoticing that John didn't pass by as he usually does, you look around the office for him, thinking you can at least show a sign of friendship and wish him good night.\n\nAs you come to his office, you see the door open and the light still on. You also hear him talking fervently, presumably on the phone with someone.\n\n"No Jane," you hear. "I can't do this anymore. It's over. I'll pick up my stuff tomorrow morning." You can hear the muffled voice of a woman yelling before it stops abruptly, and John sighs.\n\n* [[Make yourself known.|loveend2]]\n* [[Sneak away.|loveend1]]
You see so many men appear behind you that you can't count them.\n\n"John!" you yell.\n\nSomething about the tone in your voice makes him turn to look.\n\n"Oh shit," he yells, rounding a corner with you just as bullets come crashing down. "Almost there," he mutters.\n\nIt's not long before he opens a door with a keypad coded lock. You see stairs leading down. You can't even see the bottom.\n\n"Ladies first."\n\n* [[Refuse to go.|justgo1]]\n* [[Ask him what's down there.|justgo2]]
You slow for a moment, thinking about how you should let the beast take hold of it and then figure out what to do later.\n\n[[But you've never been that kind of girl.|grabbook1]]
The beast reaches out its arms for the book, and although your body isn't as long, you're quicker. You grab it in a flash and make off with it into a different room.\n\n* [[Stop at this room.|continue2]]\n* [[Continue until you can't stop.|continue1]]
You should feel fine, but you don't. [[You need to get out of this city.|gohome1]]
You begin to head towards the road when the monster appears in front of you. You don't understand how he got there without you knowing, but you know you definitely [[can't go that way anymore|shedterror1]].
You reach for the object you tripped over. To your surprise, it's a gun, a shot gun. How it ended up there, you honestly have no idea. But your dad taught you how to fire one of those. You're even better than your brother.\n\nYou reach for it, but gasp and pull away quickly. There's a huge spider on it. You're already being chase by a serial killer; the last thing you need is to get poisoned by a spider.\n\nYou decide to [[roll away|rollaway1]] instead.
As you step out into the rain you pull up the collar of your coat and hold your purse close to you. You hold some hope that if Jordan is there he'll start heading back because of the rain, and maybe you can meet him halfway. Even give him and whoever else a lift home.\n\nNo such luck unfortunately. You soon find yourself at the edge of the woods. Peering in, you see it's quite dark, but not dense, and not unmanageable.\n\n"Jordan?" you call out.\n\nThere's no reply.\n\n* [[Go into the woods.|findthebodies1]]\n* [[Turn back.|findthebodies2]]
A part of you just wants to go back home, cuddle up in a blanket, and pretend nothing ever happened. But you told yourself you'd be productive. For Jason. Always for him. [[You brace yourself to get out of the car.|intothewoods1]]
You know there's no real point in the makeover anymore. Still, [[you did buy all that stuff, and you don't want it to go to waste|fallinlove1]]. Besides, your sister might kill you.
You tentatively knock on the door of his apartment. It swings open, and he steps aside to let you in. You look around in awe, thinking that things look so much nicer from the inside, and also wondering where your plushie collection will go when you move in.\n\nYou turn to look at him as he closes the door, noticing he's decided to put on his pyjamas.\n\nYou looks at you sternly, then sighs. "Look, Miss...?"\n\n"Zoe!" you declare, excited he can now refer to you by your first name.\n\n"Zoe," he repeats, leaning against the door. "Look, I'm very flattered that you're so... fond... of me... But this has to stop. You're freaking me out, and I've been told you're sending my friends death threats?"\n\n"Only all the girls that talk to you," you correct him. What did he think you were, crazy? You would never end up being one of those wives that never let him hang out with the guys.\n\n"Oh my god," he mutters shaking his head. "Look, the truth is, I have no feelings for you. At all. I don't even know you."\n\nThese words hit you hard somehow. You can't help but begin to cry.\n\n"But I know you!" you counter, wiping your tears. He looks uncomfortable, but you keep going. "I know you like your eggs scrambled in the morning, I know you drink your coffee black, I know you hate where you work because you really want to be an engineer but it would mean having to go back to school, and I know you need someone positive in your life to keep you happy because you look so sad at nights!"\n\nHis face is caught in a mixture of awe and fear. Neither of you say anything for some time.\n\nYou realize that, maybe this entire time, you've been mistaken.\n\n* [[Leave.|leavedontgo1]]\n* [[Try to convince him you're meant to be.|leavedontgo2]]
Nothing would please you more than marrying your true love, even though you still don't know his name. But what do names matter anyway? Still, you think it might be too soon, and while you would be thrilled if you caught him outside your window trying to take a peek at you naked, you think that maybe for him it was crossing a line. The last thing you want is to lose the connection you've made so far. So this time, [[you try a different tactic|foreverandalways1]].
John wants to enter through the front, but you say it's entirely too risky. Instead, you look to the rusty fire escape that leads to a rickety entrance. The first level landing is far above your head. First, you lift John onto it, letting him jump into your hands and then tossing him up. He watches in awe as you use your speed and the wall to launch yourself onto the platform. You continue up similarly, thinking about how much faster it would be if you were alone. \n\nEventually, you do reach the top, and kick open the door to find yourself on the second level of the building. \n\n"You are sure this is safe?" Your accent is heavy: it's been a while since you've spoken English.\n\nJohn, still in awe, nods his head. "It's my workspace. Total secret."\n\nSnapping out of it, he rushes inside.\n\n* [[Follow him.|secretlab1]]\n* [[Take your time to look around.|secretlab2]]
You're about to offer him your hand when, a little red in the face, he gets up on his own. [[There's nothing left to do but go inside.|warehouse2]]
You catch up slowly to find that he's been waiting for you. He grins like a child, eager to show off his toys. You look around.\n\n"You work here?" He nods. "I see nothing of interest." You do note, however, that the area you are standing in is not covered in dust: a perfect circle of clean floor.\n\nWith a little cough, he taps his foot in a particular rhythm. Suddenly, the floor begins to descend. You reach for your knives instinctively, watching as the floor above you closes and lights shine to illuminate your descent.\n\n"Pretty cool, right?" You look at him, releasing the handle of your weapons. \n\nHe coughs again. "I didn't build it from scratch. It's one of the government's old hideaways. They totally forgot about it. When I found it after hacking their systems, I deleted every trace and kept it all to myself. Of course, I made a few modifications."\n\nWhen his speech is over you find you've reached the bottom. He immediately runs to the most elaborate set up of computers you've ever seen.\n\n* [[Admit that this is impressive.|thedaysgoon2]]\n* [[Stay silent.|thedaysgoon1]]
You reach over and slap him, hard. He seems surprised.\n\n"While I am extremely grateful you saved me from a life of slavery," you say, grabbing his shirt and pulling him close, "Never, ever, do something like that without telling me first."\n\nHe smiles and you feel your anger and resolve weaken slightly. Taking advantage of your proximity, he leans in a kisses you. You arms grow weak and you let go, allowing yourself to fall into him. Eventually you pull apart. This wasn't the place for this.\n\nYou back up and open your door, standing slowly, knowing he's watching you closely before you close it and he gets out from his side.\n\n"Are we alone?"\n\n"Just the pilot."\n\n"How long until we reach our destination," you ask, moving towards the back of the car.\n\n"Five hours," he replies, following your steps.\n\nYou laugh, opening the door to the backseat. "Is that enough time?"\n\nHe opens the door on his side. "Plenty."\n\nIt is plenty, though you both manage to get dressed just barely in time for the helicopter to land.\n\nThe door opens and you look out to see what you think is paradise. A large white house stands off in the distance, surrounded by lush greenery and sand. You think you can hear water not far off.\n\nHe touches the small of your back. "Welcome to my humble abode."\n\n* [[Follow him in.|questions2]]\n* [[Ask how long you'll be staying.|questions1]]
You sigh and pull him in for a quick, tight hug before releasing him and heading for the closet. Your first instinct is to get him cleaned up.\n\n"Take off your coat!" you call to him, grabbing a blanket then heading towards the light switch. "We'll get you cleaned up right away." When you flip the switch, you freeze.\n\nIt's not the bloody footprints from the door that startle you, but the bloody knife in Jason's hand. You hadn't noticed it in the dark, and were too emotional to sense it as he was hugging you.\n\n* [[Calmly ask about the knife.|allisrevealed1]]\n* [[Back away slowly.|allisrevealed2]]
"Shit!" you yell, as the coffee seeps into your orange sweater. Your first time at this coffee shop, and already something bad happens. You can't help but feel this is a sign.\n\n"Oh god, I'm so sorry!" The guy who bumped into you turns around. You both pause for a moment, staring into each other's eyes. He seems a little shocked. You're just... curious. There's something about the way he's looking at you that you like. It's in a different way than your used to.\n\nYou smile. "It's all good. I think the brown looks good with the orange anyway." You toss your coffee cup in the trash and get in line to order a new one.\n\n"Oh, no, please," the guy says, coming out of his stupor to follow you. "Please, let me. It's the least I can do, really."\n\nIt's cute how he stutters slightly.\n\n* [[Let him pay for your drink.|lethimpay1]]\n* [[Don't let him pay.|lethimpay2]]
You think of asking him some stuff to pass the time, but are [[too tired to say anything|deepdiscourse1]].
You quickly open and shut the door, locking it before you close it and leaving the key inside. Just in case. If there's one thing you can thank your upbringing for, it's teaching you to be cautious.\n\nLo and behold, your brother stands before you. He smiles. You embrace him tightly.\n\n"I haven't seen you in forever!" you whisper loudly. "It is so good to see you!" You pause, and pull out of the hug. "But wait, how'd you know I was here?"\n\n"I didn't!" he replies quickly. "The key under the trash was gone, so I knew someone must be inside. But my God, I had no idea it was you!" He pauses, looking behind you. "Is there anyone else?"\n\n* [[Tell him the truth.|liarliar2]]\n* [[Lie.|liarliar1]]
Taking in a deep breath, you step into the dark woods, hunching up against the tree branches. You choose not to use a light so you don't scare the boys off by making them think you're the police. You know first hand how intimidating that can be.\n\nYou think that you probably don't have to go very far, and you don't, before you trip over something big.\n\nThough it's a bit of a struggle, you manage to turn over and reach into your purse, pulling out your phone to shed some light.\n\nYou shriek in horror as you see Jordan's cold dead eyes looking your way. Instinctively you rush over to him to check his pulse. There is none. You flash the light over the rest of his body and see blood. Lots of it.\n\nYou back away, unable to stop looking into those cold dead eyes, when you bump into something else. In a flash, your light is on it, and you shriek again as you realize it's Joe. You check him as well: just as dead as Jordan.\n\nBut Joe was supposed to be with Jason.\n\nIn a flash you're dialing your son's number and waiting. It rings. Soon after you hear the loud music of some punk rock band your son really likes, and not too far off you see a light. You scramble to your feet and go to it. In horror you pick up Jason's phone.\n\nYou keep looking around, but your son isn't anywhere to be seen.\n\nThere is a chance, a small chance, that he got away from the killer. There's also a chance he's been taken hostage.\n\n* [[Phone the police.|headhome2]]\n* [[Head back home.| headhome1]]
You came all this way, [[there's no point in turning back now|findthebodies1]]. Jason needs you to be strong.
[[As if you could head home now!|followwork1]]
You follow your lover to his place of work; a men's clothing store of sorts. \n\nYou sit on some benches in the area, grab lunch nearby, and basically do everything possible to remain in the area without being suspicious. One of his coworkers notices, however, and points you out as a joke. You see him sigh as he looks your way. It's alright; he's probably just not used to the idea of you two being together yet.\n\nYou raise your arm up high and wave fervently. He smiles awkwardly and waves back. Then he says something to his coworkers before coming outside to meet you. You can't help but feel a little like his girlfriend already.\n\n"Heeeeeey," he says casually as you move to greet him.\n\n"Hi!" you say excitedly.\n\n"Sooooooo, what are you doing? Exactly?"\n\n* [[Admit you're crazy about him.|playitcool2]]\n* [[Play it cool.|playitcool1]]
You take a look around, disgusted to find animal droppings everywhere. Not a single thing looks like it's been touched in decades, all covered in a thick layer of dust.\n\n[[Having seen enough, you follow your query to the first floor.|secretlab1]]
Your laugh is empty afterwards, sobbing in gasps.\n\nHis face begins to change colour as his grip on your face tightens.\n\n"John, you're hurting me," you whisper, trying to pull him off.\n\nHe lets go, only to wrap his hands around your neck. Your face turns blue as he begins squeezing the life out of you.\n\n"My life is ruined," he grunts. "All for you. And if I can't have you, no one will."\n\nYou gurgle, barely managing to let the word "help" escape your lips.\n\nSuddenly the door bursts open and bright lights are shining on both your faces.\n\n"POLICE! Let the lady go and step away."\n\nScared, John does as he's told. You gasp for air and move as an officer cuffs him and takes him away. You look after him longingly, and when he looks back at you, your heart breaks.\n\nThe sergeant comes up to you. "You can take it off now ma'am. Thank you for your help."\n\nYou nodd sadly as you remove the wiring from under your shirt.\n\n"We got it all on tape ma'am," the sergeant continues. "Thank you for your cooperation."\n\n"Hannah," you mutter. "It's Hannah."\n\nPlacing a firm hand on your shoulder, he looks you dead in the eye. "Thank you, Hannah. For trusting us."\n\nYou smile slightly, saddened by the fact that you are now completely alone.\n\n"Do you have time for tea?" you ask him. He hesitates. "Please? I don't think I can handle being alone right now."\n\n[[END.|scene2hannahend]]
There's a quaint park near your house that you can go to to relax and people watch. As you head there though, you see that the park is blocked off. Something to do with constructing a playground. You see workers in the distance, definitely building something.\n\n[[Definitely a sign that you should go exploring instead.|explore1]]
It's only been a few days since you moved to this city for your new job. While they don't mind that your hair is dyed purple, you can't wear the cool stuff you usually do, and you're stuck behind a desk all day. That's why you're never stuck inside when you get the chance. You'll have plenty of time to sit and watch Netflix in your old age.\n\nExploring is an interesting idea to you. You've only gotten to know a couple of places so far. You think of seeing if there's anything cool towards the east end.\n\nYou hop on the bus and pick a random stop to get off of, looking around. To your interest, there's a vegan restaurant to your right. You've never tried vegan food before, and as your stomach gurgles slightly, anything sounds good.\n\nYou enter and wait to be seated. The hostess looks at you oddly before giving you a table for two. There really is no such thing as a table for one.\n\nYou get comfortable, slipping your purse under the table, and take a moment to look around you. It's mostly couples and groups of friends, young people who are trying to be healthy. Or at least are following the trend.\n\nThe waiter brings you your menu. As you look at what's served, you notice someone staring at you out of the corner of your eye. It's the guy from yesterday.\n\n* [[Motion him over.|comeonover1]]\n* [[Ignore him and look at your menu.|comeonover2]]
You want to forgive him. You want to fall into his arms and pretend nothing ever happened. But you [[stick to your morals because you're supposed to be altruistic|thatsajoke1]].

You look at John again. Still peaceful. [[You don't want to wake him with any more chatter.|hostage1]]
You think you'd rather keep the keys to yourself. You tell Jane this and she nods. "Hey, it's your car."\n\nYou nod and smile. Things are looking up.\n\nYou turn to take a step forward when suddenly Jane holds out her stick, causing you to stumble. As you do, the keys fall from your hand and [[Jane takes them|scene1end]].
Your friend Jane's place is the closest safe haven you can think of. She's good at hiding shit; she could probably hide the two of you easily. [[But you can't get her involved either.|abandonedgarage1]]
Of course he's too shy to be seen with you in front of his friends. He must be worried one of them will try to take you from him. You swoon slightly at the idea, then ground yourself back in reality. You need to make this boy yours so you can be seen in public together without him getting shy, and eventually get married.\n\nFor the next few weeks you follow him discreetly, making note of his schedule and sending vicious death threats to any girl he talks to. Even that six year old who needed help tying her shoe. She'll grow up eventually and try to take him from you.\n\nThere were times of course where, despite your amazing ability to hide, he noticed you following him, at which point you would simply wave and smile. He keeps turning away in embarassment or frustration for now, but you know it won't be long until he realizes his true feelings.\n\nThings come to a head when he spots you with binoculars in a tree outside his apartment, trying to get a peek at him in the shower. In anger he opens the window.\n\n"Get in here, right now!"\n\nWow, you've never been invited into his apartment before!\n\nThen again, he seems angry... What if he wants to break up with you? You're not sure you can handle a broken heart.\n\nNo matter what you're going to meet him in the apartment. You walk up behind him, watching as he types in codes and works with different software. Some of it looks familiar to you; you've been trained in the art of nearly everything. Still, much of this is over your head.\n\n"I'm just entering all the codes so this place doesn't explode," he explains, looking at you and smiling. You can't help but raise your eyebrows. "No worries, just a precaution. That way no one can get in here and steal my work. Thank you by the way."\n\nThe last bit was unexpected. He punches in one last thing before rising and looking at you. "Seriously, those guys were going to torture me." He pauses, looking uncomfortable. "Why... did you save me?"\n\nYou shake your head. He nods. "Secret stuff. Okay. I can't complain, you're the one with the knives. Are you with the American government? Any government?" You shake your head, no to both. He laughs. "Alright, well then, I guess I really won't ever find out. Can't blame me for being curious. If a mysterious, beautiful woman saved you from severe torture, you'd be asking questions too."\n\nHe turns back to his computer. "What are you doing now?" you ask.\n\n"Hacking into satellites to use them as surveillance cameras." He steps back to show you the screen. "You're the expert. I don't know what you intend to do with me, but I don't really have a choice but to follow you wherever."\n\nThere are many different images, none of which you like. Every route of escape you could possibly think of for leaving the country is blocked off by the rival organization. You sigh.\n\n"There is no option but to stay here."\n\n"For how long?" This man has so many questions. \n\n"Days? Weeks? Months? Until I can find an opening to get you out of the country."\n\nHe nods, in a way that seems a little sad. Suddenly, he perks up. "It's all good. Come with me!"\n\nHe shows you the rest of this secret area: a place to sleep, food storage, a small kitchen, a bathroom, even a television set.\n\nYou look at him expectantly. He shrugs. "I live here. We can take turns on the bed."\n\nYou follow him back to the kitchen, and he begins to prepare a meal, trying to start conversation. \n\n* [[Satisfy him by responding.|longdaysahead2]]\n* [[Remain silent.|longdaysahead1]]
The forest is eerily quiet as you stand behind a tree. The wind gently rustles the leaves, and you can hear the sound of little critters moving about the forest. It would be peaceful if there weren't a serial killer after you.\n\nYour clothes are stained by the blood of your friends. Your hair is a tangled mess, your face is covered in grime, and you can smell your own sweat.\n\nYour friends fought valiantly. While the night is nowhere close to over the murderer got them all. Even John. You really liked him. He gave his life so you could run away. So did Jason and Jeff. You would miss them terribly. Even Jane, who didn't like how much time you had spent with her boyfriend.\n\nA part of you wants to give up. A part of you wants to stand out from behind the tree and scream, //I'm here, come get me!// Just so it can all be over. But you have to fight. You have to survive. Otherwise their struggles will have been for naught. \n\nYou think hard about what's nearby and how you can get out of this mess.\n\nYou know that on you you have the keys to your dad's van, and your dead cellphone.\n\nThe killer, you know, was last murdering John back at the cabin, somewhere in front of you now. You know that off to the right is where Jeff dropped his cellphone while running earlier in the night. Despite the fact that in most horror movies there's no signal out in places like this, you know that somehow his phone was getting reception because you remember asking which company he was with and then begging to borrow it to check your Facebook. Those were the days. Just yesterday really.\n\nThe last thing you can think of is the van somewhere behind you. \n\nYou're not //exactly// sure where anything is, but you know you can't stand behind a tree forever. The murderer will get you eventually.\n\n* [[Try to get the cellphone.|van2]]\n* [[Go to the van.|van1]]

With a loud roar you launch yourself onto the back of the killer. He is a fairly large man, with a bald head.\n\n* [[Stab him in the back and make him suffer.| stabbing1]]\n* [[Stab him in the head and end it.|stabbing2]]\n
You look for somewhere to hide but can't see anywhere you wouldn't be noticed. It is a fairly small shack. Looks like [[the time is now|shackattack1]].
You know you promised to take him to the park, but with the way you're feeling, [[you change your mind|moviesinstead1]].
After everything that's happened today, even though it was really only that awful coffee run that set you off, you don't think your nerves can handle the park.\n\n"Hey, listen," he whisper to your nephew. "//Billy and the Amazing Awesome Train Adventure// is playing in theatres. You really wanted to see that right?" He nods excitedly. "Alright, how about we go there instead of the park?" He agrees and you release a sigh of relief. It might be a kids' movie, but at least you could zone out or even fall asleep if you wanted to. The movie's been out for a while, so there would likely be very few people in the theatre.\n\nThings are fine as you buy the tickets. It's when you get in line to order popcorn that a familiar voice calls out to you, and you suddenly enter robot mode again.\n\n"Hey, you're the girl from the coffee shop earlier, right?" He's right beside you now. Your nephew looks up, interested.\n\nYou nod. "Yeah."\n\n"Hey, listen, I really am sorry. I was going to try to make it up to you, but you just left." Seeing you're not about to answer, he looks to your nephew. "So what are you guys going to see?" he asks.\n\n"//Billy and the Amazing Awesome Train Adventure//!!" your nephew squeaks excitedly. The man laughs. "Well hey, how about I buy your popcorn?"\n\nYou're about to protest, but it's your turn in line at the counter and he's already pulling out his wallet. \n\nYou thank him as you head into the theatre and he goes into another. You notice it's with another woman. You should have known.\n\nAll you can think about during the movie is his smile, and the other woman you saw him with.\n\nYou're very tired the next morning as you get up to go to work.\n\n* [[Stop off to get coffee before going in.|straighttowork2]]\n* [[Go straight to work.|straighttowork1]]
You admit that this is all very impressive. To yourself. [[In your mind.|thedaysgoon1]]
Your face hardens and you bend into a stance, ready to take on this evil thing.\n\nWithout pause the killer begins to make his way towards you, holding his knife higher. A maniacal laugh can be heard, though it's distorted by the plastic of that awful horse mask.\n\nThe nerves get to you. You shriek louder than Ariana Grande and make a [[beeline towards the van|runaway1]].
The tall grass is annoying, and there are sharp bits that scratch and tear at your bare legs, but you keep going. You keep turning your head to see if the murderer is following. He is. And he is surprisingly fast.\n\nUnfortunately, because you turn your head, you're distracted and trip over something solid. Your shriek of surprise is cut off as you land on your face.\n\nYou need to think quickly.\n\n* [[Try to grab what it is you tripped over.|rollaway2]]\n* [[Roll off to the side.|rollaway1]]
You squeeze your entire body around the suitcase and squeeze your eyes shut, doing everything you can to hold your breath as long as possible until you blackout.\n\nYou wake up suddenly, coughing up water, your chest thrusting upward as you gasp for air. You roll onto your side, continuing to cough.\n\n"Are you okay?" \n\nYou sit up and stare and John. He looks genuinely concerned, but you don't care. "Do I look okay?" you ask, leaning forward, your voice low and menacing.\n\nHe chuckles. "Yup, just fine."\n\nHe grabs the suitcase, which is still surprisingly in good shape, and stands up. He offers you his hand.\n\n* [[Take it.|nothanksbud2]]\n* [[Push it away.|nothanksbud1]]
You try desperately to orient yourself, but it's dark, and the more you move the more oxygen you lose. You can't do anything but [[stay as you are|drown1]].
[[You don't get the chance to say anything.|braceforimpact1]]
"Is the suitcase shut tight?" you hear him yell from the front seat. You yell that it is. "Then grab it and brace for impact!"\n\nAt this point you've learned not to argue. You drop the gun and grab the case with the documents inside, bracing yourself against the wall of the van.\n\nYou're tossed around as the vehicle runs straight through a railing and, to your shock, into the water.\n\nDamn it, you've told him you can't swim.\n\n* [[Try to swim out of the van.|drown2]]\n* [[Hang on to the briefcase and don't move.|drown1]]
You captor yells in pain and drops the knife. John jumps up and pulls you into his embrace, keeping one arm free to pull out his gun. He's about to shoot when you yourselves are shot at.\n\n"Ah, so he has backup." He sounds amused, to your discomfort.\n\nBefore you can say anything he grabs your hand and leads you through many rooms.\n\n* [[Stop him and ask where you're going.|seeshooters2]]\n* [[Look behind you.|seeshooters1]]
Without a word you start to lead the way to the abandoned garage. Well, everyone thinks it's abandoned. It's where you and your brother go to work on cars. None obtained legally of course, but you had to learn off of something. And once they were fixed up, they earned your family a living.\n\nYou kick some trash aside as you manoeuvre through alleyways. The smell of trash and sound of people screaming can be heard everywhere. Once in a while you hear sirens, but they're very far off.\n\nOne good thing you thought might come out of this was some recognition. Or a job. Or //something// that could get your family out of this hell hole. So far, that's still just a dream.\n\nIt's not long before you make it to the garage.\n\n"This is it?" John asks skeptically, raising an eyebrow.\n\nYou roll your eyes and lead him around the back. The door is locked but you know the key is hidden under the trashcan nearby. You grab it and go inside.\n\nAs you flip on the lights, you hear John whistle. The garage itself is nothing to be proud of, but the sheer amount of cars crammed inside is amazing. Some are opened up, some have been fixed, and some haven't been touched yet.\n\n"I don't suppose you actually bought any of these."\n\nYou knew he'd say something like that, and choose to ignore him.\n\nWith a sigh, you go up to a work bench and grab a seat. He grabs one near you.\n\n"Now what?" you ask, all your energy gone. You feel your eyes growing heavy.\n\n"We wait," he answers, casually hiding the case under the desk.\n\nGreat. You were stuck here, possibly for hours, with this meathead.\n\n* [[Start a conversation.|deepdiscourse2]]\n* [[Don't say anything.|deepdiscourse1]]
You know Jordan's usual spot. You've heard John talk about it enough. A little wooded area behind the school. You know Jason and Joe would be invited to these little hangouts sometimes, but you never minded, so long as they never touched anything too hard core. You've always wanted to try to leave Jason as much freedom as possible.\n\nBefore you know it you're parked in front of the school. Just as you're about to get out of the car, it begins to rain. You sigh. Things couldn't get much worse.\n\n* [[Take it as a sign to go home and call it a night.|intothewoods2]]\n* [[Head out in the rain.|intothewoods1]]
You know there's a phone not too far from where you are, and you have change on you. You change your mind, however, when you think about Jason. His teacher might be a lead, but you can't afford to affect his school life any more than it already has been. You decide to [[seek out Jordan first|jordanhangout1]].
You sit in silence for a moment, before getting up to [[slap him|lovemakingend1]].
You think about how this is a world where women can pay for their own drinks, and besides, the the brown on orange really doesn't bother you. But you see how guilty he looks and decide to [[let him pay|lethimpay1]].
You begin to tell him about yourself. You start with your name, Mei, then very vague things. The beginning of your childhood, how you were then sent away to 'study', and took the job her parents wanted you to.\n\n"Wow, that's harsh." At your confused look, he shakes his head. "Well, I mean, to have my whole life set out for me by other people? Never make my own choices? There's no way I could live with that."\n\nWhen you've had enough of talking about yourself, the conversation is switched to random things. It's pointless chatter; you learn absolutely nothing. Yet, you don't mind.\n\nYou're up the rest of the night, thinking about what he said. About freedom.\n\nThe next day he calls you over excitedly, jumping up and down, pointing to the screen. "I found them, those bastards. These are the guys who managed to kidnap me!"\n\nYou force your face to remain passive as you see information on the //Fierce Tiger// organization. You read with interest. Some of the family names seem familiar to you.\n\n"They're a branch of this organization," he continues unexpectedly, pulling up information on your order, //The Order of the Sacred Dragon in China//. You can't hide your surprise. "Apparently they branched off due to some sort of internal dispute. //The Order of the Sacred Dragon// wants to create the ultimate nuclear weapons to fight against America, the //Fierce Tiger// organization wants to do the same but against Britain." He shrugs, disgusted. "Still mass murder."\n\nYou try to steady your breathing. Your missions have been about stealth, killing minor political figures. You've never been involved in something on this grand a scale.\n\nSuddenly you wonder if he found out about you, and where you stand in all this.\n\n* [[Ask more about what he discovered.|gtfo2]]\n* [[Check the satellites.|gtfo1]]
You want to ask if he would like a towel, but [[the words just don't come out|staysilent1]].

Your sister squeals in excitement and picks up the phone, making an emergency appointment with lord knows who for the next day.\n\nYou're nervous when you get to the spa. Everything is so white, so clean. All the women are so... Beautiful. Your sister is with you and introduces you to her contact, who looks you up and down. She assures you that you're absolutely gorgeous. There are just a few wee things that need to be corrected.\n\nThe makeover takes five hours.\n\nWhen it's done, and you look at yourself in the mirror, you hardly recognize yourself.\n\nWhen your sister brings you back to her place for some well-deserved tea, you can't help but laugh shyly at your nephews reaction.\n\n"Wow!" he exclaims, giving you a big hug. That's what you're screaming to yourself in your head. You know that looks aren't everything, and that you shouldn't have to change yourself for anyone. It's completely wrong. But you can't help but think that maybe, just maybe, if you took the time to look a little nicer, he might leave his girlfriend sooner.\n\n[[Hesitantly, you agree.|acceptit1]]
About to circle him like a hunter does its prey, you notice that he's watching you way too closely. Would you be winding him up, or would he be winding you up? [[You decide not to find out.|taunt1]]
"Hey ugly," you state calmly. He doesn't react, just keeps staring at you. You continue to tap the pipe, noticing he twitches slightly when you do.\n\n"Don't like this, do you buddy?" You tap it lightly a couple more times, when suddenly you raise it high and slam it against the wall. \n\nThe sound reverberates through the basement, and you smile as the monster covers its ears.\n\n* [[Attack now.|attackmonster1]]\n* [[Run past him and return upstairs.|attackmonster2]]
"Jason, where did you get that knife?" \n\nYou ask as calm as you can, careful not to move too quickly or do anything rash that might upset him. What you didn't expect was for him to suddenly break down into tears. \n\nYou can't help but rush to him and hold him in your arms. \n\n"I did it mom," he cries, barely audible against your shoulder. "I did it all."\n\nYou hush him, rocking side to side ever so slightly, caressing his head.\n\n"What did you do sweetheart?"\n\n"John! I killed John. And then Jordan, and Joe..."\n\nYou take a quick intake of breath, but settle yourself quickly. You don't want him to think you're upset. Now the rocking is for you just as much as it is for him.\n\n"Why?" you ask gently.\n\n"I couldn't help myself!" He tears away from you suddenly, grabbing his hair as if to pull it out, knife still in his hand. "It's just like when I was young, with the animals! I couldn't... I couldn't..."\n\nYou remember. People's pets were disappearing; it was in the local paper for quite some time. A mysterious 'pet napper' they called it. Jason was 10 then. You and your first husband found the animals buried in the local woods when you caught him running in there with the neighbour's cat. It wasn't just local pets either; little woodland animals were just as plentiful.\n\nBut you'd told him to stop, you and your late husband. You'd told him it was wrong, told him it wasn't normal. You had refused to take him to a psychiatrist. You thought it was a strange phase. You wanted to protect him. You thought it was all better.\n\n"Jason... I thought it stopped..."\n\n"It //never// stopped!" he cries, turning to you, eyes wild. "This whole time I've been hiding it, just keeping it to wild animals in the woods. There were times I told you I was hanging out with Joe, but I wasn't...\n\nAnd John... He was an accident... He saw me come home with blood on my shirt. He was suspicious. I didn't want him to know. I know I could have just lied to him, but I thought what if... What if I tried it on a person, just once. Maybe the awful feelings would go away...\n\nBut they //didn't//! And now Jordan and Joe... Oh god I killed Joe..."\n\nHe falls to his knees, sobbing.\n\n* [[Call the police.|leaveforever2]]\n* [[Take Jason and leave.|leaveforever1]]
At first you think that if it's meant to be, you'll meet again. [[But why leave that tiny detail up to chance?|followhim1]].
You follow the two of them for quite sometime, always maintaining a good distance so that they don't notice you, and hiding behind something whenever they turn their heads. You get stares from passersby, especially because you haven't changed your shirt, but you don't mind. Let them stare. One day they'll be staring at you because you're with the most handsome man alive.\n\nEventually the two split ways, and you find yourself following your love all the way to what appears to be his apartment. He enters through a main entrance that appears to have no special lock or code, so you're able to follow after him easily. You hide behind a plant as he enters the elevator with another, older man, who offers to press the button for him. You hear your man say, "Five please," just as the doors shut.\n\nWith the speed of a ninja you run up the side staircase, somehow managing to get to the fifth floor just as the elevator doors open. You open the door slightly to watch which room your man enters, then run up to it quickly before you forget.'\n\nRoom 526.\n\nPleased, you head home for the day and immediately wash your cat shirt.\n\nYou lie awake in bed, debating what to do tomorrow.\n\n* [['Accidentally' run into him on the street.|gmorning2]]\n* [[Greet him in the morning at his apartment.|gmorning1]]

Begrudgingly, you nod.\n\n"That's a good girl."\n\nYou hear the sound of glass shatter as he brings you to where your brother and his girl are being restrained. He hands you a walkie talkie. \n\nYour captor nods. You sigh, and press the button. "John?"\n\n"Makayla?" The answer is immediate, and while he's trying to stay calm, by now you've learned to discern the panic in his voice.\n\n"Yeah, it's me. I've been caught. They want the case."\n\nThere's radio silence. "Okay, I'm coming out."\n\nYou cringe and watch as John rounds the corner from the back, holding the briefcase. You don't see a single weapon on him.\n\nYou shake your head, trying to convey how sorry you are. He nods in understanding.\n\nBefore anything can go down, sirens sound and cops surround the area. You watch John bust open the suitcase, pulling out his gun. Fast as lightning, your brother throws off his attackers and grabs his girlfriend. They get away, but as you're about to follow them, something hard hits you on the head, and you begin to black out. The last thing you hear is gun shots.\n\n\n------\n\nWhen you wake up, the first thing you see is John's face, feeling him caress your head. He raises you into a sitting position slowly, and as your vision clears you look around. Cops are everywhere, rounding up the goons, and off to the side, questioning your brother and his girlfriend. Another couple of cops are talking to the rest of your rag-tag group, the people you started out this mission with, who you've managed to grow fond of over time.\n\nYou look to John.\n\n"Joey called in the cavalry once he tracked us down. You have trouble deciding whether or not to pull your dress up or down. Either way it is entirely too short. As it was each time you checked it, they are close. Too close for comfort.\n\n"It's fast, and it looks //damn// good," he replies. You sigh. He may have saved your life, but that didn't stop him from being overly cocky.\n\nDespite the hard turns he's making, he'd yet to shake off your pursuers. And yet he doesn't seem the least bit worried. Whenever you ask about it, he just smiles and replies, "Backup plan."\n\nWithout warning, he turns into a parking garage, running through the barriers, making his way to the top. You gasp.\n\n"What the hell do you think you are doing?"\n\nHe laughs. "Backup plan."\n\nWhen you reach the roof the air feels nice, but of course, there's nowhere left to go. You launch yourself at your old prof and slam the metal pipe into his head. You drop the pipe as he yells louder and blood gushes from the wound.\n\nHis arms lash out crazily, and while his eyes are red they seem out of focus. Your nerves get the better of you and you call in sick. Your boss says you sound terrible, and tells you not to worry about it. He only hopes you feel better soon.\n\nYou end up calling in sick the next three days. Your sister, always checking up as she does, is annoyed with you of course, but she's known you your whole life, well enough to know that when you get too nervous, there's no saving you.\n\nThe evening of the third day you get a phone call. The caller ID says it's John. You pick up tentatively, not remembering exactly when you had exchanged numbers.\n\n"Hey!" You've missed that pep in his voice. "You haven't been at work! Are you okay?"\n\nYou pause, debating what to say, when he continues. "I've missed my best friend!"\n\nYour heart sinks as you realize that's it. That's all you'll ever be. His best friend. You've been friendzoned. You didn't think that was possible for a woman, but you know from what you've heard people say, once you're in the zone, you're never getting out.\n\nWhy were you even nervous this whole time? Were you worried the makeover wouldn't work? Were you worried that it would? It certainly doesn't matter now. You've only always been someone there for him, a solid friend in this city where he knows practically nobody. His girlfriend is there for the important stuff.\n\n"Yeah," you reply. "Well, I'm feeling much better. I'll be in tomorrow for sure."\n\nHe overexaggerates a sigh. "Phew! Well, that's great to hear! He left it connected to his system back at the warehouse. "Where in this city have you never been?" you ask, a little more clearly.\n\nHe mutters something about an area north of where you are. A nice shopping district. "You got your bus pass?" He nods. "Done."\n\nYou grab his arm and run to the nearest bus stop heading north.\n\nThe shopping district is fun. You stop at every store, no matter how odd. Even a sex shop. Especially a sex shop. You love how uncomfortable it makes him. But you can tell he's beginning to open up a little. Soon he begins to talk more about himself, his personal life. His hopes, his fears. Your pout disappears, but the frown remains.\n\n"What are you talking about John?" Any playfulness that was in your voice is gone.\n\n"The poison Charlotte. I know you bought some the day your husband was murdered."\n\n"So? Maybe I needed to kill some rats," you reply, shaking your captured arm ineffectively.\n\n"When I asked you if you had any poison you //lied// to me Charlotte. You told me you never keep that stuff around the house."\n\nAh. You've been caught.\n\n* [[Claim there's no proof you used it for murder.|noproof1]]\n* [[Claim you bought it for a friend.|noproof2]]
Maybe it's the alcohol, but you feel this sudden urge to ask him inside. You open your mouth to speak when [[he interrupts you|bebold1]].
Tempted as you are, you feel he is gracious enough to allow you to stay in his magnificent home and satisfy all your appetites. [[You think it would be a betrayal of his trust to search his things.|captured1]]
You take two steps outside the room before you find a knife to your throat. A raspy voice whispers in your ear for you to follow them. You have no choice.\n\nYou're lead deeper into the house until you come across what appears to be a very grand living room. You see John in an armchair, reading a paper. Your heart sinks.\n\n"Ah, good morning," he says as he looks up. His smile disappears. He was expecting you, but not with company.\n\nYour captor wraps his free arm around your abdomen, too close to your breasts for comfort. His lips are close to your ear.\n\n"The diamond, sir," he asks.\n\nJohn frowns. "What are they paying you, Wesley?"\n\nThe man holding you laughs. Your ear hurts. "Enough to set me up for life. And, if I play my cards right..." You sense him look at you hungrily.\n\n* [[Kick him in the groin.|groinkick1]]\n* [[Struggle in his arms.|groinkick2]]
