My body was tight as I stretched. The morning rays were light as they shone through the bars of my cell. I walked out into the cell hall to read the clock and went back. 4:00 am. Stupid schedule. I’ll never understand why I have to eat so damn early. I placed my hands on the rusty mirror, looked at myself, washed my face, and brushed my teeth.

The air was hot, mingling with the smell of all the different food and leftover wet spots of bleach. It was 4:30 now. We lined up and got our food, but it wasn’t like I could just sit anywhere. There were gangs, and they had their tables. The reapers were lounging in the back, table off to the right. Their tattoos peeked out from the rolled-up sleeves of their orange jumpsuit. A big, hulking man with a shaved head stared dead at me. I couldn’t help but imagine walking over there and sitting right next to them. The image of them staring at me like I was a crazy person almost made me laugh out loud.
The thought faded away as fast as it had entered my head. I did my usual and sat with my friends next to Henry. The food wasn’t so bad. When I first got here, I thought I’d be chowing down horseshit, but the food is normal. Oatmeal and hot milk. Not so bad, but Henry got a piece of cake sitting pretty on his rusted tray. Of course. He noticed me glaring and smiled. The cook, an old woman with a chipped tooth, handed it to him with a wink.
“Bribing the elderly with your charm?” He mocked me with a stupid voice, and I smacked him with the back of my hand. His stomach bubbled with laughter.
“Hey, your birthday is coming up soon anyway. The big 21.” He said “21” individually while pointing at my chest. He said, jabbing me with his fork like a tiny sword.
I sighed. “I know, but… You //have// to sing it this time. Don’t think I didn’t see you hiding in the back.”
He laughed. “You saw shit.” Sara tried to fight it, but a small smile appeared on her lips. There was silence for a moment before a cough broke it.
“Did you hear about what’s going on in the news?” I stopped eating to listen in.
“What?” Sara said. She had neck-length curly golden blonde hair in a ponytail, fair skin, and enormous hazel eyes. Sleeves decorated her arms, and a chest tattoo peeked out from the collar of her orange jumpsuit.
“There’s some sort of virus, infection, or whatever spreading. Someone told me it started in Texas, and it’s getting closer to us.”
“How close?” Sara said.
“Michigan.” He shrugged, playing with his utensils.
“That’s pretty damn close. What are the symptoms?” I said.
“Heard some guards whispering about aggression. Like bite-your-neck-off kinda aggression.” My eyes traveled to the table. Since when does a virus make you aggressive? It doesn’t make sense. But whatever it is, it seems like something. Something worrying? I don’t know. If it started in California, this must have been spreading for a long ass time. Wonder why it wasn’t on the news earlier. There was a loud bang as two guys from the Reapers table started rolling on the floor fighting. Two guards ran over to stop it.
“Sounds like a typical Tuesday.” Henry and Sara both laughed.

She rolled her eyes. “There. Are you happy?”
“Eh, not really.” I let her glare at me for a few seconds before I laughed. She laughed with me.
We went to the equipment in the yard, away from where the fight was. There were no weights, just bodyweight stuff. Makes sense. I heard of one guy beating someone up with a 30-pound weight a while back. I squirmed at the thought of his face afterwards. Yuck.
A couple of people were here, so we had to work in for a bit, but eventually we just did pushups and stuff on the ground. It wasn’t productive, though; we just kept talking to each other about what happened last week, drugs, movies, people we didn’t like, and people we did like. We watched the sunset for a bit until I noticed tall gray walls lined with barbed wire and the soldiers posted on top. Coldness loomed over me. My shoulders dropped, and I sighed. A faint sound came from my left, but it was too far away to notice. Sometimes it all just feels so surreal. This place, everything. I’m a goddamn inmate. Do people ever get over that? I mean, it felt like yesterday I had just gotten here.
“Hey!” She pushed my shoulder hard, almost putting me on my side.
“What?” I rubbed my arm.
“You good? It’s almost dinnertime.”
“Uh yeah… my bad.” She rubbed the spot where she had pushed me, and her face settled. As we walked back to the jail cells, Sara turned.
“You’ve been here two years already, $name.” Her voice was soft, but it stung deep.
“I know.” We walked back without another word and ate dinner. There was some time left, so I went to the rec room before someone pulled me behind a wall, peeking out. It was Jessie. She was Hispanic with olive skin, dark brown eyes, and straight, pixie-blue hair. But her original brown hair peeked out from the roots. Tattoos covered her body.
“Oh! Jessie, what is it?” I regained my footing.

“The virus that is taking over America and destroying the world as we know it... Temper Tantrum X.” Henry said with some “oohing”. I couldn’t help but laugh as we kept joking and talking, my skepticism slowly faded. Maybe it’s nothing. I mean, we are in a medium security prison with annoyingly good defenses anyway, so if anything does get bad, I doubt we’ll be affected.

We soon finished our meals and played chess in the rec room before we headed off to work at 6 am. It’s not like we have a choice anyway. Forced labor. We make money from it, but it’s pennies. I would skip along to my job assignments every day if I made more than a damn dollar. The last time I bought something at the commissary was a few months ago. Been fixing some slippers lately.
Henry and I had janitor work, dirty work, while Sara had maintenance work. It was only a few hours, but we complained the whole time. It was tolerable until we got to the toilets. Great for us, someone missed. We stood at a standstill, telling the other to clean it before we decided on rock, paper, scissors. He won, and that just made my day. He watched, laughing, before our boss came by and told him to move on to the rest of the place.
We regrouped a little after lunch. Sara and I went to the yard and worked out, but Henry wanted to go to the library. Just as we were about to get to the yard, Sara stopped me, eyes lighting up like a lightbulb turned on in her head.
“Oh! I have some… business to attend to. Sorry, you know.” She said as she walked backwards.
“Yeah, no problem. See ya.”
“See ya!” An officer was watching us, his face in the shadows. Oh, no. Did he hear that? As he walked into the light, he focused his face on me, getting closer until he smiled and waved. I waved back. Phew, it’s just Smith. Now that I think of it, I need to talk to him later anyway. I gave him a knowing look, and he rolled his eyes, waving me off. Another thing I wouldn’t have expected, but hell, I’m not complaining. A violent cough stopped his walking. He reeled over, his face covering his hands. I tried going towards him to help. A different guard came rushing over, pushing me away so hard I almost fell on the ground. And with that, he was gone. I tried rubbing the pain out of my shoulder. If he’s sick, he shouldn’t be working. With the thought lingering in the back of my mind, I stepped out into the yard and took in the fresh [[air.|YardFight]]The scorching sun beaming down on me quickly made me regret going outside. I shook it off, seeing a couple of my friends off to the side. But before I could do anything, cheers and yells gained my attention. I looked around the yard and saw that there were more people than usual. Instead of everyone being spaced out in their little groups, most people huddled together in a circle, cheering on what I assumed was a fight. Or one that is about to happen. I got closer and tried to see who was in the center, but I couldn’t make them out. A lot of the men were shirtless and sweaty. I got closer, and that’s when it hit me. The smell. Sweat and who knows what filled the air.
Some were yelling the names “Quinn” and “Rue”. Aka, the Snakes, and the Reapers. Unfortunately, I knew the Quinn guy all too well. Not personally. Hell no. More like, he has a reputation. Rue not so much. I knew her, but that’s as far as it went. She was around longer than I was. Showed up around two years ago. She decided it would be a good idea to become a gang member. Never knew why.
My friends were enough. But it didn’t matter. My feelings were irrelevant. The gangs ran this place, and they had rules. If you wanted to step somewhere, you stepped the other way, anyway. Despite the danger, not everyone falls in line. Makes for a good show, so it was their problem.
The tension was thick. Even though the two were just standing and talking, it wouldn’t last long. I could feel it. My eyes moved from one person to another, waiting for something to happen. I was surprised they weren’t fighting yet. Rue was relaxed, talking with her buddies, while Quinn was on the verge of exploding. Some people were hyping him up, and a few were calming him down. A line seemed to separate them, dividing two sides with decades of conflict. At the center stood Rue, her stance loose but ready, like a coiled spring wrapped in dark skin and muscle. Across from her, Quinn paced like a caged tiger, his shaved head gleaming under the sun. At a glance, it looked set; Rue would win, but Quinn had been here longer and veteran gang leader. Rue packed on pounds of muscle that could easily change the pace of the fight.
“Don’t get so worked up, //Rook//.” Spitting the nickname like it tasted rotten. A heavy, deep New York accent laced his words.
“Can’t handle a little fire?” He wiggled his fingers before laughing once again. Sarcasm laced his words, digging deep beneath her skin. His brass knuckles gleamed in the sunlight. 100% not allowed, but the guards never checked him. Being in a gang and all, there’s no doubt he bribed them with some shit.
“You don’t go around disrespecting people and not expect consequences.” She balled her fist, exposing the white on her knuckles.
The Reapers hooted and hollered, but the Snakes stayed quiet, watching intently. One of them, a wiry guy, muttered, “Just walk away man.” The once-loud cheers came to a halt. Quinn broke out laughing.
“Hear that? I’m the king of his fucking yard, I’ll do what I want…. when I want.” A couple of people cheered.
“For a king, you’re a goddamn //pussy//.” Rue yelled. The crowd exploded. If it was loud before, it was even louder now. Two people from Quinn’s gang laughed in the background. He watched them with furrowed eyebrows. Steam was practically coming out of his ears.
“You’re done!” They lunged at each other, grabbing and punching. Both tried to gain an advantage. It was a blur. Quinn landed more punches but was unsteady. He looked nervous. Rue remained calm and focused. She waited for her chance. She easily countered his attacks. Rue saw an opening, swiftly kicking him in the knee. The crowd went “ooh”. Quinn cried out. He crumpled, and Rue pounced, landing an uppercut. He went down hard. Rue stood over him, waiting for him to get up. Blood dripped from his nose onto the pavement. He wiped his nose as if nothing had happened, but he was unsteady. A couple of guards were watching off to the side.
“That’s all!?” Quinn stood, and Rue backed up, holding her forearms in front of her face. He swung, but we saw it. He overextended, swinging past her. Time slowed. She lifted her foot high in the air before slamming him to the ground by the ribs. Quinn spat as a barrage of curses escaped his mouth. The guards came running to break it up with batons in their hands.
“Fucking bitch cheated! Cheated! We all know you’re on fucking steroids, so come find me when you’re off. I dare you!” Snot and blood smeared his chin. Quinn kept yelling slurs and curses as they lifted him away. Rue scoffed and walked in the opposite direction before a guard grabbed her. She was in an uproar. Guards escorted them from the yard, and the energy slowly subsided. Whenever a fight breaks out, this is usually how it goes. Short and intense. Some even end in less time. After a couple of minutes, they let Quinn back out, but not Rue. So she gets punished while he gets off scot-free? If Quinn isn’t in these guys’ pockets, then my criminal history is as clean as a whistle.
When the officers left, I was still watching Quinn and his gang. They were arguing with him, as they should, when he looked over at me. I dashed my eyes away just as quickly. Fuck. He started walking over to me with haste, cracking his knuckles as he did so.
“We've got a fucking problem?” He walked up close to my body.

“Not at all…” He stared at me for a few seconds, giving me the most obvious warning I’ve ever seen before he walked away.
“...My //liege//.” He stopped short, like a car that went too hard on the brakes and turned just as quickly. His body looked like a wall of bricks rushing towards me. I could practically see the steam coming out of his ears. I smirked, and he grabbed the collar of my shirt. My shirt collar was digging into the back of my neck. Ow. Can’t anyone take a joke around here? Sheesh.
“You better shut up!” Quinn said.
“Or what?” My hand wrapped around his arm, tightening. I could play his games. He’s not as intimidating as he thinks. Despite my dry tone, the silence was crushing me. The pressure of his anger made my skin crawl. The second he walked over here, I knew it. He wanted me gone, and not the nice kind, either. The worst part is that he was the type of person who could make that happen.
He huffed and pushed me back when he let go of my shirt. I almost fell over. “Keep running your mouth, and you’ll see what happens.” I turned around.
“See ya, baldie!” I turned around, and just out of the corner of my eye, he also turned. He clenched his fist. But before anything could happen, a guard moved him along. Good riddance. Sara waved at me from a distance, and I waved back. She ran up to me.

<<set $caution += 2>> I raised my hands in surrender. Quinn huffed in my face. The less I talk, the fewer problems I’ll cause.
“Good,” Quinn said with a smirk. I walked away, looking at the ground. He deserved a couple of punches in the face, but I couldn’t risk it. Losing will ruin my reputation. Not only that, I would be pretty beat up, and that’s something I would very much like to avoid. If he wants to start pointless fights and be aggressive, that’s his problem. I don’t need to waste my time getting involved in it. Maybe I stared for too long. Whatever.

<<set $caution -= 2>> He just stared at me as if he were drilling a hole into my chest. Sheesh, someone’s insecure. The seconds felt like minutes. He wouldn’t punch me. Not with the correctional officers so close by. He was weak. Before, I could walk off a fist that crashed into the side of my face, and I dropped to the floor. My eyes were wide with shock. All at once, the guards from before came running over and detained Quinn. I got up, rubbing my sore butt.
This time he was taken away, probably to that stuffy room I've heard about. I doubt it'll be for long. I touched my cheek, and a sting ran through my face. My whole time here, I’ve had no problems, and any problems I did have were not that. Even though if I kept my mouth shut this wouldn’t have happened but I didn’t really give a shit, he could punch me all day. Hell, I’d do it again.

“Oh! Hey, Hill!” Sara looked at me with a smile. We did our little special handshake and hugged.
“Still going formal, Sara?”
“Some things never change, I guess.” She shrugged.
“I dunno, I think it’s time you started saying my first name.” A big smile spread across my face.
As she mimicked a rainbow with her hands, she said my name.

<</nobr>>The sound of screaming and a blaring siren filled my ears. There was still crust in my eyes as I jumped to my feet. I peeked through the bars of my cell to see pools of blood on the second and bottom floors. A prisoner with ripped clothes ran in the shadows on the bottom floor. What the fuck. My heart fell out of my chest. I tried looking again, almost pushing my head through the holes of the cell. Dead bodies were littered everywhere. A guard was lying down on the floor near the cell to my left. His radio crackled with static. Was he alive? I got closer to the left side to see if he was okay when a bloody man jumped at my cell. His guts were spilling out of his stomach like dripping sweaty Bite marks dripping with blood covered his whole body. I begged my frozen body to move, to run, but my feet were stuck. The only movement I had was the intense shaking of my hands. He slammed against the cell.
Blood spilled out of his mouth, distorting his speech. “lease… elp me…”
His eyes were soulless. Gray and empty. With one last bang of the cell, his body slowly dropped to the ground. Puke bubbled in my throat as I watched his blood pool into my cell. I puked into the toilet. As I knelt there, faces filled my mind. My mom, my dad, my sister, my friends, I puked again. Tears mixed with vomit spilled into the toilet. They have to be okay. Especially Henry, Sara, and Jessie. They were right here; I saw them yesterday. My body trembled. If the world is finally going to shit, I need them. <<if $preference is "Women">> I need Jessie.
<elseif $preference is "Anyone">> I need Jessie.
<</if>> Before I stood up, another scream made me jolt. With a deep breath, I looked again.
Past the stairs, on the other side of the cell block, a pale, twitchy figure in prison clothes was eating something. My eyes squinted. It was eating a long string of intensities. It looked up in my direction, but I went back behind the wall faster than I had ever moved. I need to get out of here. My eyes scanned the surroundings of my cell before landing on my sleeping roommate. I tried shaking his body, but there was nothing.
“Please wake up.” I shook his body harder until he fell over onto the floor, exposing a knife deep in his chest. Distant gunfire rang out as tears ran down my face. Fuck. My hand ran through my hair. Breaths that were once structured became quick and heavy. There has to be someone, a guard with a key that could get me out of here. I looked out the cell again, once to my right and once to my left. No one. Except for dead bodies strewn about. A figure on the bottom floor caught my attention. Finally, a small sense of calm ran through my body. But it wasn’t until the guard started moving that I noticed it wasn’t a guard. One of those things. And then another, another, another. How on earth am I supposed to escape? I looked back at the dead body and the cross surrounding his neck.

Maybe I’m just being stupid. Maybe the fight, the hope in my heart, is naïve. He’s probably looking over me right now, wondering what the fuck I’m doing. Waiting for me to do the right, the smart thing. I mean, it would be so easy to grab the knife from his chest and stab in mine, killing myself alongside him before whatever is out there kills me first. But no matter how smart it sounds. I can’t. Killing myself in a small, dirty cell can’t be how I die. No, it won’t be how I die.
If no one can help me, maybe one of those creatures can. I could get its attention. Hopefully, just one. It will run to my cell and try to break it down. I’ll be standing with my knife, ready to go for its head. When it’s dead, I’ll escape through the broken bars, steal a gun from a dead guard, and book it for the exit. Then, I’ll escape through the broken fence, steal a car, and be free. The plan swirled in my head over and over. I froze again as I imagined being face to face with that thing. No, no, no. My mind stepped forward, but my body went still. I tried to yell, but the racing of my heart, the fear, stopped me. Tears streamed down my face.
Okay, breathe, $name. Just breathe. A heavy, slow breath escaped my mouth before I took one in with the same amount of speed. The screams, the creatures, and the surrounding bloodshed faded as I stood thinking of nothing and being nothing. The shaking stopped, and a different emotion came over me. I pulled the knife from my cellmate’s chest, gripping it with all my strength. The thoughts of Henry, Sara, and Jessie. If they didn’t make it, the least I could do was fight till the very end… for them.
I got close to the bars and threw my shoe at them, but it fell to the bottom floor. A creature down there ran towards it before walking off. One shoe down. I took off my other shoe and threw it. The shoe landed on its hand. It looked around before landing on me. Within seconds, it started running in my direction on all fours. As it got closer, it only seemed to get bigger. Its full appearance quickly comes into view. It was taller height-wise compared to the average human and extremely muscular. Its muscles almost looked too big for its size. As if it had a small bone structure and the muscles of someone with a larger bone structure, but still wiry all at the same time. It was disappearing and changing into something monstrous. A tan skin tone was being overtaken by a gray one, but I could barely see as it was drenched in blood. Its head was covered in scattered hair, and its eyes were gray.
Its human hands grabbed the bars and started pulling. My knife was steady in my hand. With each pull, it grunted through its teeth with so much force I feared its blood vessels would pop and its teeth would crack. Anger was practically running through its veins. A squeak of the metal pulled my eyes to the right. The bars were coming down. I planted my feet on the ground, waiting for my moment. A loud guttural scream was deafening. It continued to pull, even harder, almost as if my assertiveness pissed it off until there was a crack. The bars started coming down. Creatures passed by my vision, but what was happening out there was of no matter to me until a figure with blue hair on the bottom floor flashed in my eyes. I instinctively touched the locket through my shirt. My eyes wandered, drawing my gaze away for a second when the creature’s torso fell through. Like an animal on the prowl, it crept towards me. It lunged for me and dodged, throwing itself at the wall. Before it had the chance to stand, I rushed towards its rising frame and stabbed it in the [[head.|JessieEscape]]

<<set $knife to 1>>
<</nobr>>I rested my hands on my knees, taking one deep breath before pulling myself up and climbing out of the cell. As soon as my feet landed, I crouched. My eyes went back to the crack in the staircase for the person with blue hair, but they were gone. Fuck. They have to be here. Luckily for me, the stairs were opposite me. Each move I made was slow, watching my every move to make as little sound as possible. The creature eating the guts was still here from before, searching the cells for more people. I gripped my knife, this time with more ease than the last. As I inched closer, I slowly stood, lifting my knife before I stabbed it deep into its head. Blood oozed from its head and seeped into the fabric of my uniform. It twitched as it fell to the ground before fading out completely. I wiped the blood off my knife on my pants and returned to my crouched position.
As I made my way down the stairs, the open room filled with more of those things came into view. The numbers had grown since my time in the cell. There was a scream this time, much closer. I stayed planted on the stairs. A prisoner with bloodied and ripped clothes came running. She was crazed, running as if she was going to fall over. Sobbing and screaming at the same time. Creatures grabbed her, bit her, and dug their bloody nails into her skin. One went for her neck, and it began pouring blood. A scream rang out. The prisoner turned to escape, and that’s when I realized who she was. Sara.
Sporadic breaths took over me, and waves of tears threatened to trail down my face. My heart shattered into a million pieces as I watched those beasts mutilate her. I have to save her. Maybe I could distract some of them to give her time. The lights flickered. I moved down the stairs when the lights turned off. No, no. Everything was pitch black. The sounds of a body dropping, chewing, and ripping were my only senses. A single tear dripped down my face. Not now. I kept moving, trying my best to gain a sense of where she went. When a figure waved me over in an empty room. I rushed towards it, spotting the blue hair instantly.
“It’s me.” She whispered. Blood stained her clothes, and emptiness filled her eyes. I pulled her into a tight hug. All the tears I was holding before fell onto her shoulders. She leaned into me. My tears shook my body in short bursts.
<<if $preference is "Women">> She lifted my head, and our lips matched for a few seconds. A tear dripped down her face.

<</if>> "I thought you were dead." Tears racked my body. I never wanted to leave her side again.
“Don't worry, I'm here now, and we’ll get out of here together. I promise.” She smiled half-heartedly, holding me closer than before. Despite it all, I smiled too. A part of me felt she needed this more than I did. She took the pistol from inside her pants and gave it to me. Hopefully, it was an extra. She gave me a quick lesson in how to use it. She paused, taking a deep breath.
“Are Henry and Sara okay? I couldn’t find them.” She gripped my hand and looked at me with wide eyes.

“Good, we can go ba-” She started walking back the way we came, but I grabbed her arm.
“They left. I saw them get out.” There was a pause. She nodded, looking at the ground before facing me again with a familiar smile.
“There’s a hallway that leads to the exit; we should move. Hopefully, we’ll meet up with them later. They couldn’t have gone far.” I nodded, and she took my hand. We traversed around creatures and killed any that got in our way until we made it to the hallway. Glass shattering came from the end of the hallway, and soft growling accompanied it. We both lifted our guns. Fingers firm on the trigger. We moved closer to the room on the right when a man frantically came running down the hallway. He crashed into me, knocking me to the ground. Fuck. Quinn?

<<set $honesty += 2>> “I don’t know where Henry is, but… Sara didn’t make it.” She let go of my hand and stared at the ground. A tremor ran through her as she pressed her lips together tightly, her jaw clenched. With tears welling in her eyes, she held her breath.
“I’m so-” Tears welled in mine too as I watched her mind come to terms with her death. Something even I hadn't done yet. Memories flashed through my mind of Sara and all our moments. I tried to reach out to her, but she moved away.

<<if $onechoicetwo is "A">> His gaze swept across my face before his eyes flared in anger. He grabbed my collar with a fierce grip, his knuckles white, and punched me hard in the face. A searing pain exploded in my jaw. Jessie ran over, but before she could do anything, he slammed me against the wall. My gun fell out of my hands and slid across the floor.
“You fucker!” He spat.
Jessie tried to push him off me, but he punched her in the face so hard she hit the wall. She went off to the side, holding her face. I clenched my fist and punched him in the stomach as hard as I could. He bent over, holding his stomach as he groaned. Now’s my chance. I crawled over to where my gun was, and he stood at the same time. Our hands both landed on it at the same time. It became a contest of wills, a back-and-forth struggle where we both strained to gain and maintain control.
We kicked and punched each other, but I held strong until he head-butted me, loosening my grip on my gun. He snatched it out of my hand without a second to waste. I expected Jessie to hold him at gunpoint, but there was nothing. Did she give me her gun? Argue later, there was no time. The growls, drawing nearer and nearer, caused Quinn to turn his head. With a smirk, he waved the gun in front of my face before turning tail and running away as fast as he could.

Before I could say thank you, he looked back before running off. Before I could say thank you, he looked back before running off. I looked over to where he was running from.
<</if>> From the corner of my eye, about 20 creatures with gleaming eyes came running into my view, following a couple of mauled guards. I grabbed Jessie’s arm, shoved her through the doorway to my right. As soon as we ran inside, the creatures started banging on the door. My aching back protested as I pressed against the cold metal, the weight of all of them pressing down on me. Jessie helped push back with me, but sobbing shook her body. She could barely push her weight back.
“We’ll get out, just like you said,” I grunted. The force of the creatures behind me distorted my speech. Her eyes, wide and tearful, met mine as she slowly slumped to the ground. I stumbled forward, nearly falling under the weight of the door. She reached for my hand, but I flinched away. Above me, the metal ripped. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be. We’d fought so hard, endured so much. The weight of it all settled, heavy and suffocating. A cracking bang jolted me. A bloody hand reached down, snatching my shoulder. Nails dug in, yanking me against the door. A searing pain shot up my arm, a deep scratch burning from my breastbone to my neck. Jessie stood completely still, her gaze vacant and unfocused, as if frozen in time.
All around me, punched holes in the metal appeared until three hands grabbed me and pulled me threw. My back slammed against the floor. I tried to stand, but the creatures all around me started pulling me back. Sharp claws scraped against my skin. Panic, cold and suffocating, stole my breath. A deep bite tore into my neck, a searing pain instantly seizing me. The biting and tearing continued relentlessly. A bloodcurdling scream tore from my throat, echoing down the hallway. Agony pulsed from head to toe, threatening to overwhelm me. Blood poured from multiple wounds.
I tried to stand, but the gaping wounds held me down. The creatures clawed and scratched me, throwing me back to the floor. My vision blurred, consciousness fading. The pain… even that was gone. Thick smoke started rolling in, filling the air with a pungent odor. A dark silhouette walked through the smoke with a weapon in their hands. My shaking hand reached out into the small hole of light. Shrinking, shrinking until a pool of darkness swallowed [[me.|ThankYou]]
