In my youth I went on a safari tour trying to get a glimpse of various unusual creatures. I've forgotten our exact route, but I've held onto a few documents- a map of the area, a journal, and a field guide of animals in the area. Can you reconstruct the route and figure out where we camped each night?
I remember a few details that aren't in the documents:
- Each night we camped at one of the sites marked with a dot.
- We always followed the marked paths- each path between sites is one day’s travel.

Day 1
We set off from base camp. There were a few cape buffalo along the trail.
Day 2
Near our campsite tonight, we saw a zebra drinking from the river.
Day 3
Saw both gazelles and mandrill on the trail today.
Day 4
At one point on the trail we saw a vulture fly directly overhead carrying its prey.
Day 5
After it got dark in the evening, we heard bats swarming outside.
Day 6
No new animal sightings today. After hiking, we took a boat back to base camp.
- Bat: Nest in caves, will not venture far from them even when active at night.
- Cape Buffalo: Stays near the coast.
- Gazelle: Found in open plains or thicker forests.
- Mandrill: Found in forests and mountains.
- Vulture: Nests in trees in mountainous regions. Can sometimes be seen carrying food back to the nest from small ponds.
- Zebra: Can be seen drinking at river forks.
