It was the beginning of the year we made our [[plans]] for our flight into space. We had already been feeling strange like existing at the edge of the [[world]]. We took stock of what we had. We made an inventory of everything contained plastic or metal, anything that could be pulled apart or [[burnt|spring]]. We have everything we [[need|spring]] right here you said. The orange streetlight outside our window means the room is never entirely dark and makes it hard to get accurate positions of the stars. We worked out all of our [[coordinates]]. The moon is closest during spring you [[said]]. You hadn't noticed that aren't seasons anymore that the trees yesterday were full of flowers and then they and all the leaves fell in the night. Or maybe you thought it was me that hadn't noticed and that spring was a place you could always keep me [[waiting|coordinates]] for. [[|finish]] You came home from your job at the [[server farm]] every morning before sunrise. You came home at 6am when the busses started [[running]]. You brought home animals from there. They were drawn to the heat of the [[machines|network]]. They wiped out data with their droppings and teeth but there were always backups running through purple wires. Your job was dusting the machines and keeping the floor [[shining]]. Mostly when I woke up I knew you'd been here. I could see that some of the things had [[moved]]. You never left anything behind. Nothing in the room belonged to [[you]]. You left no hair, no skin cells. You sent me messages through the [[network]]. Our internet would cut out intermittendly. It would flicker like the power was going. Only the power around here was always strong shining out across the valley all the time. This was you at the server farm dusting and thinking of [[me]]. The truth is you came out of the [[mirror]]. This is something we never talked about between ourselves and I never spoke about with anyone else [[either|coordinates]]. The truth is the internet has not cut out for days. I leave the room at 3am to buy groceries its the underside of the world the busses going to destinations I don't [[recognise]] and nowhere is open except a takeaway with plastic brick wallpaper each fresh sheet a different shade and texture of [[brick|winter]] and none of the sizes line up I wake up it is as dark as it ever gets here and I have just slipped into what could be any abandonned [[day|world]]. The birds sing at 3am here because of the constant orange light. I read "this intense night singing of the birds makes me think some great biological change is occurring." Sometimes the phone would [[ring|network]] while I was sleeping with news of another earthquake, flood, test results etc. You said not to worry though. The server farms are on a hill and very well [[protected]]. I went to the hospital and when they asked for an emergency contact I could not remember your name or our address. I just said the server farm on the other side of the [[forest|network]]. The server farm is making you [[translucent|network]]. Your body is loose at the edges. I cannot feel you. I forget if it is summer or [[winter]]. Some days I would go out to the stone circle. Time [[broke|start]] there. I could walk through at different angles and find myself in a different part of the [[day|network]]. It had once been an old water draining point. The mud and the stones filtered something. Sometimes I imagine you at the server farm. You found a gap in the cleaning cupboard and climbed down into the earth. All of your animals are there. It is warm with the ducts which take all the heat generatored by the computers.
