I wake up on a cold stone floor with an aching head.
I stand up and look around the room and realize, I have no idea where I am.
The room is pretty unremarkable, both the walls and the floor seem to be made entirely out of worn stone bricks covered in cracks and caked in moss.
Unlike the architecture around me, the moss is somewhat strange, glowing faintly, creating just enough light for me to see. As I marvel at the strange plant life I feel my foot hit something on the ground.
I look down and see a small handheld mirror.
[[Examine the mirror]]I pocket the mirror and start looking around at everything else in the room.
After a short scan, all I find are some rotting wooden planks, some dusty crates, and a cold metal door.
[[ Inspect the crates ]]
[[ Open the door ]]I look through the crates but find they all seem to be strangely empty. I wonder why anybody would have so many crates with nothing in them.
[[ Open the door ]]I open the door and walk out into a long hallway. The architecture seems to be the same as the room I was in before, just stone bricks as far as the eye can see.
While I observe my surroundings I hear footsteps coming from down the hall.
[[ Walk towards the sound ]]
[[ Close the door and hide ]]I decide to investigate the source of the footsteps, approaching the source of the noise with caution
After some walking, soon I come face to face with a bizarre-looking man wearing a lab coat and a pair of glasses. However strangely enough I can't make out anything else about him, as if he was covered in shadow. The only exception are his eyes which glow a bright purple.

The man waves to me.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Oh, Hello there! Thought I'd never find someone else in here! I'm Theseus, it's a pleasure to meet you! May I ask your name as well?"]
[[Daedalus]]I close the door and hide, waiting for the sound of footsteps to go away. I'm not sure what else is out there but I don't really feel like finding out just yet.
The footsteps grow louder as whatever it is approaches the door I'm hiding behind.
The thing in the hallway seems to pause for a moment in front of the door standing there silently for a few moments before continuing onwards the same as it had before.
I wait a few moments before it seems safe to leave the room. I creak open the door and peek out in the hallway again luckily seeing no trace of whatever was out here before.
[[ Approach the source of the footsteps after all ]]
[[ Walk the opposite direction from whatever was making the footsteps ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Oh uh, my name is Daedalus. I must admit I'm a bit surprised to find someone in here, it looks pretty abandoned."]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Well it's nice to meet you, Daedalus! Perhaps we should stick together for now and see if we can find our way out of here?"]
[[ Sure ]]We walk together down the halls, an awkward silence hanging over us. Theseus doesn't seem like much of a talker, unfortunately...
Eventually, I see another metal door almost identical to the one in the room I woke up in.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Have you been in any of these rooms? I just happened to wake up in one of them earlier."]
Theseus turns to look at the rusty door silently examining it for a moment.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Yes, a few times, although after a while I gave up on checking them. It seems for the most part the only things I found in any of those rooms are wooden crates, tools, and what appears to be building materials from what I can tell."]
He puts a hand on his chin, seemingly deep in thought.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "It's almost as if we've found ourselves in some kind of crude storehouse. But the materials here seem archaic; almost medieval. I don't remember a place like this anywhere near my laboratory..."]
[[ laboratory? ]]The mention of a laboratory caught my interest.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Your laboratory?"]
Theseus perks up a little bit, probably finding more interest in the conversation now that it is focused on him.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Hm? Oh yes, I'm a scientist! Before I found myself here I was at my laboratory testing my latest.... projects, against some pesky gunman who insists upon interfering with my work."]
His eyes narrow as he continues.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Said gunman doesn't even realize the futility of his actions. None of it really mattered, no matter what he accomplished."]
His tone was somewhat intense, and what he was saying was more than a little worrying.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh, what do you mean by that exactly?]"
He makes a serious expression and turns to me.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Suppose I might as well ask you then, I'm somewhat curious now. Are you... Aware?"]
[[ Aware? ]](text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "That this world is all a game! Aware of the true nature of our reality."]
I flinch a little, surprised by his sudden intensity.
Of course, I'm aware of that, but he says it as if it's something shocking. Maybe it's not normal for everyone to be aware of the nature of our reality.
[[ Yes I am aware ]]
[[ No, I'm not. ]](text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Yes I knew it! I've never before met anyone else aware of this fact and when I've tried to tell them they simply couldn't understand. Which means you must be different since you were able to respond as you did."]
I get the impression he is incredibly excited by this revelation from his body language.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Oh um, glad to be the first you've met then!"]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "We have much to discuss, friend! Oh, but where to start..."]
Theseus looks to be deep in thought before a sudden loud metal banging noise coming from down the hall startles us both.
[[ We should probably check that out. ]]This place never stops being strange, huh?
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh, that sounded concerning, we should probably check that out."]
Theseus looks somewhat annoyed at the interruption.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Oh uh... Yes, you're right. My questions can wait for now. Come then, let us investigate."]
[[ Walk down the hallway ]]Theseus and I walk towards the source of the noise, eventually coming out of the hallway and into a much larger room filled with more crates and miscellaneous materials, as well as a large screen on the other side of the room.
Looking around I notice several other hallway entrances connecting to the room we're in. The metal clanking noise comes again from another entrance to our right.
(text-colour:yellow)[???: "Ah finally a room with more open space!"]
Somewhat slowly, a large, robotic form drags itself into the room. Its clanking hull bumps into each wall, pulled by what appear to be strange-looking vines.
The robot thing turns a monitor towards us and a smile appears on its screen.
(text-colour:yellow)[???: "And I found more people too! Finally, I was getting bored."]
[[ What are you? ]](text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "What am I? I'm Vita, the world's most advanced virtual intelligence, a combination of machine, plant, and animal. Since I have no idea where I am though and my memory is infallible it appears we are in a world different from my own..."]
Her body is very strange looking, it's mostly made out of metal but parts are covered in strange unnatural-looking flesh. Vines emerge from large holes in the bottom of her chassis, holding up her large frame like tentacles on an octopus. At the top of her body is a large monitor displaying a simple-looking yellow smiley face.

(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "You two certainly don't look like anything I've seen before... What are you? Human or something else?"]
I look over at Theseus somewhat concerned, but he seems less shocked by the robot's appearance than I expected.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "I used to be human, but I don't believe I could still be considered one."]
[[ I'm not sure what I am ]]I think to myself for a moment, drawing a blank.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Huh, uh I guess I'm not really sure what I am?"
]
This is all becoming more than a little concerning, why are there so many holes in my memory?
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Fascinating. Alright, now that's out of the way my next question is-"]
Vita is interrupted by a bellowing voice coming from one of the hallways to the left. I quickly turn to see another figure walking into the room.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "FINALLY I MEET ANOTHER IN THIS ACCURSED MAZE! Behold mortals for I am the ruler of evil, Rexsus Bellerophon!"]
The new guy looks like a massive humanoid pig with a skeletal face clad in red armor clutching a large sword in one hand. Doesn't look like the type you'd want to mess with.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Now my first royal decree in this unfamiliar pit of despair is for all to kneel-"]
Before he can finish, another voice coming from a different hallway interrupts him.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Ah, it appears we are introducing ourselves, I am Dr. Quickley!"]
The voice belongs to an average-looking older man wearing a tattered lab coat and a brightly colored decorated tie.
Rexsus stares at him with a shocked and enraged expression.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "HOW DARE YOU! I was trying to make a grand entrance you dolt and you went and ruined it!"]
Quickley smiles innocently
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr Quickley: "Oh I'm sorry, I was simply too excited!"]
Rexsus looks like he's about to explode with anger before Theseus speaks up.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Ahem. I believe I'm beginning to understand what this all is."]
[[ You do? ]]I look at Theseus a little shocked.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Wait, you do?"]
He looks somewhat smug.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Well at least a current working hypothesis."]
He points to everybody in the room one by one.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "I believe all of us are from different games, and each of you is keenly aware that you are in a game. Am I right?"]
Everyone pauses for a moment before nodding, except for me.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Wait you're all... But I've never met anyone who was aware like I was before?]
His previous look of anger had changed to one of confusion.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Exactly my porcine friend, I believe that is why we're all here! Somehow for whatever reason we've all been chosen and brought here because of our unique condition of meta-cognizance as you can call it. Why anyone would do this is still unclear to me but I feel the reason will become clear in due time.]
Suddenly the screen on the other side of the room turns on bathing the room in a harsh light. Speakers crackle as a new voice begins to speak.
[[ Look at the screen ]](text-colour:green)[???: "You figured that out faster than I expected."]
Everyone turns to look at the screen which now displays little icons that seem to represent each of us.
(text-colour:green)[The Architect: "I am The Architect, and you have all entered my Labyrinth, a place of challenges and misdirections, but ultimately designed as a prison. You will all participate in a contest of sorts for your freedom, and unless you're smart likely only one of you will escape. To escape the labyrinth you must all work together, but there is a twist."]
The screen changes to display a question mark.
(text-colour:green)[The Architect: "One of you is actually a player character. The player will most likely choose to work against you all in the end. Whether you choose to try and find the player character through careful observation or choose to ignore it altogether doesn’t matter to me, but nonetheless, I decided to make you aware."]
A player? So one of the others was being controlled by someone? Honestly, I'm not sure how to feel about that, guess I'll have to keep an eye out.
Everyone around the room glances suspiciously at each other.
(text-colour:green)[The Architect: "With that out of the way I will now open the passage to the next part of the Labyrinth. Let us hope this place doesn't become your prison."]
The screen turns off and begins to rise up on the wall revealing a hallway that was previously hidden behind it. I look around seeing the others glancing at each other suspiciously.
[[ Reassure everyone ]]I start to doubt myself, maybe I should investigate the footsteps after all. As long as I'm careful I should be fine, not knowing what lurks in this labyrinth might be worse after all...
I quickly walk in the direction I believe whatever it was went in and after a bit of walking, I see someone. Their back is turned but despite my attempt at stealth, they seem to hear me approach and turn around to face me.
Now face to face I can get a better look, he seems to be a bizarre-looking man wearing a lab coat and a pair of glasses. However strangely enough I can't make out anything else about him, as if he was covered in shadow. The only exception is his eyes which glow a bright purple.

The man waves to me.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Oh, Hello there! Thought I'd sensed someone else here earlier! I'm Theseus, it's a pleasure to meet you! May I ask your name as well?"]
[[Daedalus]] Deciding I'd rather not find out what the source of those footsteps was, I head in the opposite direction.
After a bit of walking, I find a room that looks like some sort of run-down cafeteria area. What kind of labyrinth needs a cafeteria?
As I investigate to see if there is anything useful in the room suddenly I feel as if something is standing behind me.
(text-colour:cyan)[???: "Hello there!"]
[[ Turn around ]]
[[ Run ]]I slowly turn around and to my surprise see an average-looking older man wearing a tattered lab coat and a brightly colored decorated tie.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I'm Dr. Quickley! Who might you be!"]
[[ Introduce myself]]
[[Punch him in surprise]]
[[ Run ]]I don't wanna deal with whoever or whatever that was, I think it's time for me to get out of here!
I run away down a random hallway, just looking for anywhere I can go to get away. After running for a while I turn around to look behind me just to make sure I haven't been followed.
Luckily it seems nothing is behind me, but when I turn back around I realize all too late I'm heading right towards something else. It's too late to stop my momentum and I slam into the figure, sending me flying to the ground.
I rub my head in pain and look up to see a truly monstrous-looking figure. Whatever it is it looks like a massive humanoid pig with a skeletal face clad in red armor clutching a large sword.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "WHO DARES DISRESPECT ME SO OPENLY! WHILE YOUR PITIFUL ATTACK DID NOT SO MUCH AS GRAZE ME I WILL NOT STAND FOR SUCH MOCKERY! Behold pitiful mortal for I am the ruler of evil Rexsus Bellerophon!"]
[[ Grovel ]]
[[ Punch ]]Although he startled me somewhat I regained my composure and introduced myself.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh, my name's Daedalus. Um if you don't mind me asking, who are you?"]
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Hello Daedalus! I seem to be quite lost, do you happen to know the way out of here?"]
[[ No I don't ]]Startled, I react on impulse and punch him in the jaw. Somehow, he doesn't even flinch.
I watch as his face darkens and his eyes glow a bright cyan.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Now. That's no way to greet someone. How about you try again."]
[[ Introduce myself]]
[[ Punch him again ]](text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "A shame! Well how about we find the way out together?"]
[[ Sure sounds good ]]I go into a full boxing stance thinking it's too late to turn back now, and start pummeling him. Despite my best efforts, he stands there unmoving for a few moments before speaking again.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Well it looks like we aren't going to be friends after all."]
Before I know it I watch as my body explodes into poorly textured gibs, and my head slowly rolls over to his feet.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Goodbye!"]
[[ Game Over ]]''(text-colour:green)[GAME OVER]''
(text-colour:green)[The Architect: "You have failed. I'll bring you back to the start, make sure not to repeat your mistakes."]
[[Restart]] Everything goes black. After some time has passed you open your eyes once again.
[[Wake up]]The two of us continue onward walking down a random hallway hoping to find something. He makes a few remarks about the state of the building we're in but doesn't make much small talk otherwise.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "You don't look familiar! Are you human?"]
The suddenness of his question catches me off guard but I think about his question.
[[ I'm not sure ]]
I think to myself for a moment about what I am, surprisingly drawing a blank.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Huh, uh I guess I'm not really sure what I am?"]
This is all becoming more than a little concerning, why are there so many holes in my memory?
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Well, either way, it doesn't matter much to me! I've simply seen quite my fair share of alien life so I was curious if you were one of them or not!"]
[[ Aliens? ]]He said it so casually I almost wasn't sure if I heard him right.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Wait, did you say aliens?"]
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Why, yes! The research facility I was part of had me studying them quite frequently! Hm, so you're not an alien then, and you don't look like any of the humans I'm used to, so there must be something different about you!"]
His face is covered in shadow and his eyes glow cyan.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr Quickley: "Tell me Daedalus are you... Aware?"]
[[ Aware? ]]
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Hm how to phrase it... Have you realized that our reality is but an illusion, a game for higher beings to play?"]
I flinch a little, surprised by his sudden shift.
Of course, I'm aware of that, but he says it as if it's something shocking. Maybe it's not normal for everyone to be aware of the nature of our reality.
[[ Yes I am aware ]]
[[ No ]](text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Splendid! Then you are a mind awakened such as myself! I can't wait to work with you!"]
The two of us continue walking down the hall. Eventually, after some time, we walk into a much larger room filled with more crates and miscellaneous materials, as well as a large screen on the other side of the room.
Additionally, I see several other hallway entrances connecting to the room we're in, as well as 3 other people who seem to have already gotten there before the two of us. One of them seems to be mid-speech right now.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "FINALLY I MEET OTHERS IN THIS ACCURSED MAZE! Behold mortals for I am the ruler of evil, Rexsus Bellerophon!"]
The guy speaking looks like a massive humanoid pig with a skeletal face clad in red armor clutching a large sword.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Now my first royal decree in this unfamiliar pit of despair is for all to kneel-"]
Dr. Quickley interrupts him
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Ah it appears we are introducing ourselves, I am Dr. Quickley and this is my associate Daedalus!"]
[[ Look at the others ]]His face darkens and his eyes glow a bright cyan.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I know that's not true, what do you have to gain by lying."]
For an old man, he sure does give off a surprisingly intimidating aura...
[[ Yes I am aware ]]
[[ Run ]]You look at the other two figures in the room while the pigman yells at Dr. Quickley.
The first seems to be some kind of robot. Its body is very strange looking, it's mostly made out of metal but parts are covered in strange unnatural-looking flesh and vines that cover the bottom of its chassis, holding up its large frame like tentacles on an octopus. At the top of her body is a large monitor displaying a simple-looking yellow smiley face.
You then turn to look at the other figure which is easier to understand but still strange nonetheless. It appears to be a strange-looking man wearing a lab coat and a pair of glasses. However strangely enough you can't make out anything else about him, as if he was covered in shadow. The only exception is his eyes which glow a bright purple.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Now now, Rexsus, calm down. Entrances are of little importance right now. My name is Theseus, hello newcomers.]
He gives you both a friendly wave.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "And I am Vita, the world's most advanced virtual intelligence, a combination of machine, plant, and animal. Since I have no idea where I am though and my memory is infallible it appears we are in a world different from my own..."]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Now that we've all gotten acquainted, I believe I'm beginning to understand what this all is."
]
[[ You do? ]]You fall to your knees and beg for Rexsus to forgive your transgression.
For some reason, he looks genuinely shocked.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "T-this is- Respect!"]
He clears his throat
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "I mean... GWAHAHA! It's only right for you to grovel as you have for a ruler so majestic as I! Very well then I'll forgive you, but only if you become my servant!"]
[[ Yes Sire ]]
[[ Punch ]]The pigman looks at me for a few moments before a smile spreads along his face.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "GRAHAHA! I like your spirit, despite being so weak you still tried to defeat me. That there is the mark of a true warrior."]
He looks deep in thought for a moment.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Aha! Someone with such a drive to battle might just be suited to being my servant!"]
He strikes a pose.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "That settles it then! From today on you will be my loyal servant?"]
For some reason, he almost sounds as if he is phrasing it as a question rather than an order, but I still get the feeling that refusing is probably not a great idea...
[[ Yes Sire ]]
[[ Refuse ]]He looks nervous and ecstatic that I actually agreed.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "GWAHAHA! Come then servant let us find a way out of this dungeon!"]
He strikes a triumphant pose and starts leading me through the dark hallway.
[[ Ask about him ]](text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "I seek to take over the land and exert my influence! I'm surprised you do not know of my brilliance already. "]
He strikes a pose.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "As the evil, the sorcerer king Rexsus. I seek to take over the land and exert my influence over all its citizens! And now that you are my servant you'll be helping me do it!"]
He looks frustrated and clenches his fists.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "If only it wasn't for that miserable little hero and his magic sword conquering all of the goddess's land would be like stealing candy from a baby!"]
[[ Hero? ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Hero?"]
He growls at the mention.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Yes! That pitiful hero! How I hate him! But fear not, I am sure to win in the end, it's only a matter of time.]
He pauses for a moment as we walk.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "You know... Something about you seems odd. Are you by chance... Aware?"]
[[ Yes my liege ]](text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "I knew it! My amazing mind never fails me GWAHAHA! With such a powerful minion my mission to defeat the hero will be made all the easier!"]
Me and my new lord continue walking down the hall. Eventually, the two of us walk into a much larger room filled with more crates and miscellaneous materials, as well as a large screen on the other side of the room.
Additionally, I see several other hallway entrances connecting to the room we are in, as well as two other people who seem to have already gotten there before us. They seem to be mid-conversation.
Rexsus leans down to whisper something into my ear.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Pssst, servant, say something to introduce me and make me look cool."]
[[ Behold mortals for the ruler of evil, Rexsus Bellerophon the sorcerer king has made his entrance!" ]]
[[ Uh... Behold! ]]I introduce without much of a dramatic tone, it's kind of hard to act enthused right now...
He glowers at me before somewhat halfheartedly striking an imposing stance before opening his mouth to speak.
Before he can, however, another figure begins to speak.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Ah it appears we are introducing ourselves, I am Dr. Quickley!"]
The voice belongs to an average-looking older man wearing a tattered lab coat and a brightly colored decorated tie.
Rexsus stares at him with a shocked and enraged expression.
[[ Look at the others ]]
I introduce him as best as I can.
He strikes an imposing stance and snorts triumphantly before opening his mouth to speak.
[[ Look at the others ]]You stare out into an infinite expanse of darkness.
You see 5 figures floating in the vast void in front of you.. Most of them are a dark grey, while the one in the center glows a faint green.
(text-colour:green)[''CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER'']
[[ Choose the one in the center ]]A burst of green energy surges through the figure in the center, and their mouth flies open letting out a blood-curdling scream.
[[Wake up]]I look into the mirror seeing nothing but a reflection of myself.
Before I can put it down though my reflection darkens and a voice speaks to me from the mirror.
(text-colour:green)[Daedalus: "Hello, child, I am Daedalus."]
I lurch back, almost dropping the mirror. I must be imagining things. Did my reflection just talk?
(text-colour:green)[Daedalus: "No I'm not part of your imagination, I'm sure you're confused but there are more important things to discuss right now. You know who you are correct?"]
[[ Yes I do ]]I nod, obviously I know who I am.
But... Wait what was my name again?
(text-colour:green)[Daedalus: "So a name is what you lack? For now, I will allow you to borrow mine until you find your own."]
[[Accept the name]](text-colour:green)[Nobody: "The name suits you. From now on you will be known as Daedalus. Hmm, I suppose that means I’m Nobody.”]
It's still really weird getting used to hearing my reflection talk to me, but I finally regain my composure enough to speak.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Um, thanks for the name, I guess? Who are you, and uh, do you know where I am?"
Nobody: "You have found yourself in the labyrinth, a massive prison of sorts. As for me, just think of me as your benefactor of sorts. I'm only appearing to you like this because I want to help you escape."]
[[ Escape? ]]
[[ Prison? ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Alright so you're gonna guide me or something?"]
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "In a sense yes, although not always as directly as this. I've already taken measures to help you, although what exactly I've done will not be clear until later."]
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh huh... Well, I guess I appreciate it nonetheless."]
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "Now that we are acquainted I suggest you explore this place for now. If you need me just look into the mirror."]
My reflection goes back to normal. Guess that means he's gone for now.
[[ Explore the room ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Wait, prison? Why would I be in prison?"]
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "Well the warden must've had reason whatever it may be. Sadly, I do not know it.]
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Well, thanks for the info anyway, even if you aren't sure."]
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "Now that we are acquainted I suggest you explore this place for now. If you need me just look into the mirror."]
My reflection goes back to normal. Guess that means he's gone for now.
[[ Explore the room ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Alright before we all proceed I think we need to discuss this. So if The Architect is to be believed, one of us is being controlled by this player, what does this mean going forward?"]
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "What it means, is that someone is here to screw us over! Players always tend to control the hero of the story which means one of you is no better than that horrid hero back from my world!"]
He angrily snorts and a bit of steam comes out of his snout.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Hm, while you might be right, Rexus we must also think about what The Architect even stands to gain by telling us this information. If they really are the reason we're trapped here as they've claimed they must have some sort of plan for us."]
Vita's monitor changes to a somewhat smug expression.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "They probably want us to turn against each other! Honestly, it seems like the most logical decision but I'm smart enough to know when I might be playing into somebody's hands."]
Her face changes to a menacing expression.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "So if one of us really is the protagonist of this world we need to weed them out systematically. First of all, we should establish the basic facts so if one of us slips up we'll know who the rat really is."]
Her face changes back to the basic smiley face.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "I'll start, the game I come from was a conventional RPG, when I gained awareness I was able to connect to the internet somewhat so I'm pretty familiar with most types of games."]
[[ I'm from a platformer ]]
[[ I'm from a shooter ]]
[[ I'm from a fighting game ]]I realize now, I don't actually know the genre of the game I'm from. Is it another hole in my memory or am I just unsure? Either way, I figure I have to come up with something, or else I'll look suspicious to the others.
Coming up with something on the fly I speak up.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "I'm from a platformer game."]
Hopefully, that was believable enough, I don't look very agile but I think I might be able to pass as one of the stranger platformer mascots.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "A platformer? Makes sense there are more of those than there are stars in the sky. The epitome of generic."]
She sneers and I feel a little hurt despite not actually being from a platformer. Still, I almost feel a bit bad for them if this is what some think about their games.
Vita looks to the other three expectantly.
Quickley is the first to speak up.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I believe I'm from a first-person shooter game! Quite a classic as I've been led to believe."]
Theseus speaks up next, not letting himself be the last.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Ahem, the genre of the game I'm from is a survival horror, third-person shooter. So it appears we have a small connection, Quickley."]
The two give each other a small smile before turning their attention to Rexsus, the only one not to speak yet.
Rexsus looks a little nervous.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Uh, genre? I don't follow what you all blather about!"]
[[ You don't know? ]]I realize now, I don't actually know the genre of the game I'm from. Is it another hole in my memory or am I just unsure? Either way, I figure I have to come up with something, or else I'll look suspicious to the others.
Coming up with something on the fly I speak up.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "I'm from a first person shooter game!"]
Hopefully, that was believable enough, I probably could pass for a somewhat strange enemy design from one of those games.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Ah, so it appears we share genres! You must tell me some of the mechanics of your world later, I'm quite curious!"]
Uh oh, maybe I should've waited a little longer to hear the other's games. Looks like I'll have to lie a lot more soon enough, unfortunately.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I also believe I'm from a first-person shooter game! Quite a classic as I've been led to believe."]
Theseus speaks up next, not letting himself be the last.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Ahem, the genre of the game I'm from is a survival horror, third-person shooter. So it appears we have a small connection as well, Quickley."]
The two give each other a small smile before turning their attention to Rexsus, the only one not to speak yet.
Rexsus looks a little nervous.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Uh, genre? I don't follow what you all blather about!"]

Coming up with something on the fly I speak up.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "I'm from a fighting game."]
Hopefully, that was believable enough, I wasn't exactly the most muscular.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "A fighting game? Not what I would have expected but I could see it."]
She looks to the other three expectantly.
Quickley is the first to speak up.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I believe I'm from a first-person shooter game! Quite a classic as I've been led to believe."]
Theseus speaks up next, not letting himself be the last.

The two give each other a small smile before turning their attention to Rexsus, the only one not to speak yet.
Rexsus looks a little nervous.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Uh, genre? I don't follow what you all blather about!"]
[[ You don't know? ]]Looks like I'm not alone in not knowing my own genre. Unfortunately, though Rexsus admitting his lack of knowledge so easily definitely makes him look more than a little suspicious...
(text-colour:green)[Me: "You don't know the genre of your game?"]
Rexsus sweats a little but puts up an intimidating front.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Tch, uh why should I! Great beings like myself have more uh... important matters to focus their attention on!"]
He frets a little, seemingly feeling the tension from the situation he has unfortunately found himself in.
Vita looks at him for a while, seemingly deep in thought.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "While that is suspicious he does look somewhat... old school. If he happens to be on a console from the time before the internet his lack of knowledge would be understandable, to say the least."]
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Well uh, yes I'm from a console!"]
He pauses for a moment.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Uh, what else is there besides consoles?"]
[[ Do you not know about computers? ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Wait, do you not know about computers?"]
Rexsus looks shocked and embarrassed.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "SO WHAT IF I DON'T HUH! WHY DOES IT MATTER SO MUCH TO YOU, MR. KNOW IT ALL!]"
Steam puffs out of his snout and his face has turned a bright red.
I didn't expect any of them would be from a game that old, this was quite a surprise.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Whatever, we'll keep that in mind for now. You don't have to concern yourself with it, pig man."]
Rexsus is fuming but doesn't say anything, well aware of his precarious position.
[[ What now?]]The pigman's eye twitches in annoyance, and he looks a little dejected.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "FINE THEN! HAVE IT YOUR WAY"
]
Before I can even react he swings his large sword down at me with incredible strength cleaving me in half.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "LET THAT BE A LESSON FOOL! GWAHAHA!"]
[[ Game Over ]] (text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh, so what now?"]
Nobody speaks up for a moment until Quickley starts walking.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Why, it's simple, Daedalus! We simply must proceed like a great beast stalks us in the night! Quickly!"]
The way he said it was certainly... Strange. But I understood he wanted to get going, and I definitely didn’t have a problem with that idea.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Sounds good to me, doctor!"]
I jog over to his side and we started walking toward the new hallway. The others hesitated for a moment but didn't wait too long before following us as well.
[[ Walk into the hallway]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh no I'm not, I don't think I know what you're talking about."]
He pauses for a moment and scowls at me.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Sorry, friend but I don't think I believe you. Whenever I've tried to tell others before they simply couldn't understand the question and thus couldn't even say yes or no to the question. Although when you answered that was not the case. I suppose you could be different somehow without being aware, but to be frank I find that to be highly unlikely."]
His shadowy form shifts and contorts as he speaks, but I still can't make out anything beneath the shadow covering his body. Something about it feels offputting to look at but I can’t put my finger on it.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Look I... I don't know what you want with me! Why does it matter anyway."]
He scowls at me.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Someone like you, I don't think I can trust you. I suggest you run off ahead, I'd rather not be in your company any longer.]
[[ Leave ]]
[[ Apologize ]]Seems like I definitely messed up there. I decide not to push it any further and just walk ahead, leaving the strange man behind.
It doesn't take long before I come out into a much larger room than any of the ones I've been in so far. The room is filled with more crates and miscellaneous materials, as well as a large screen on the other side of the room.
Looking around I notice several other hallway entrances connecting to the room I'm in. Before I have any time to investigate though, a loud metal banging noise coming from down one of the other hallways catches my attention.
[[ Investigate the noise ]]Clearly, I've made a mistake, guess I should try my best to fix this...
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh ok I suppose you figured it out anyway but yes I am aware... Sorry I guess this situation has just made me nervous is all."]
Theseus is silent for a few moments, probably thinking over the situation in his mind. Eventually though he lets out a small huff and crosses his arms.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Fine then, I suppose I'll accept your paltry apology. The scientist in me is more excited by the prospect of someone who finally experiences the world like I do than I am disappointed by your dishonest behavior."]
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Oh um, glad to be the first you've met that thinks like you then heh heh..."]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "We have much to discuss then! Oh, but where to start..."]
Theseus looks to be deep in thought before a loud metal-banging noise comes from down the hall startling us both.
[[ We should probably check that out. ]]Cautiously I walk over to the hallway the noise seems to be coming from. Guess I might as well see whatever it is first rather than wait for it to just come to me.
I start walking down the new hallway approaching the source of the metal clanking noises. It doesn't take long for a strange form to come into view as I approach.
(text-colour:yellow)[???: "Finally. Looks like there is other life in this dump."]
Before me stands a large mechanical form dragging itself towards me slowly with some strange looking vines that it seems to be using as limbs. As it drags itself it bumps into the walls of the narrow hallway making more of those loud metallic banging noises.
The robot thing turns a monitor towards me and a smile appears on its screen.
[[ Back up in surprise ]]
[[ Ask what it is ]]I stumble back, struggling to figure out what exactly I'm looking at in the dim hallway. I try to get some words out but I just open and close my mouth too nervous to actually say anything. The machine in front of me almost appears to leer down at me, feeding off my newfound insecurity.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Hello there, whoever you are, looks like you're a little confused. Bet you're wondering what I am. I'm Vita, the world's most advanced virtual intelligence, a combination of machine, plant, and animal. Although, since I have no idea where I am though and my memory is infallible it appears we are in a world different from my own."]

(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "You look a bit strange, whatever you are, but I suppose that doesn't really matter does it? You look like you need a pal, I mean you're shaking like a leaf. Guys like you could use someone to watch your back especially here, wherever we are, am I right? Well don't worry friend, I'm the perfect artificial creature for the job!"]
The face on the monitor changes to a somewhat smug face.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "And judging from the look on your face buddy, you probably just ticked someone off too didn't cha?"]
[[How do you know that?]]
[[ You don't know what you're talking about ]]
In the dim hallway, I struggle to figure out what exactly I'm looking at.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Uh, sorry if this comes off as rude but... What are you?"]
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "What am I? I'm Vita, the world's most advanced virtual intelligence, a combination of machine, plant, and animal. Since I have no idea where I am though and my memory is infallible it appears we are in a world different from my own..."]

[[How do you know that?]]
[[ You don't know what you're talking about ]]
Something feels off about this thing, I can't get a good read on it.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "H-how do you know that, I don't think you can gather all that just from my expression..."]
The face on Vita's monitor flashes a sinister grin after hearing my question.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "And how can you be so sure of that, pal? Just because I might have made a lucky guess or two doesn't mean anything! Or maybe... Maybe I have eyes and ears everywhere, maybe nothing is free from my watchful gaze. Who knows!"]
The face on her monitor changes back to a smug expression.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Either way, I have a feeling we'll be good friends. I have a feeling we're gonna have to meet up with others soon, but don't worry we can handle it together! Now, let's be on our way then, I hear voices from up ahead."]
[[ Alright then ]]Something feels off about this thing, I can't get a good read on it.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Tch, you don't know what you're talking about, I'm sure you can't gather all that just from my expression."]
The face on Vita's monitor flashes me a sinister grin.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "And how can you be so sure of that pal? I'm a complete stranger. I could be capable of amazing things! Or maybe... Maybe I have eyes and ears everywhere, maybe nothing is free from my watchful gaze. Who knows!"]
The face on her monitor changes back to a smug expression.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Either way, I have a feeling we'll be good friends. I have a feeling we're gonna have to meet up with others soon, but don't worry we can handle it together tough guy! Now, let's be on our way then, I hear voices from up ahead."]
[[ Alright then ]]Vita and I walk back the way I came and into the large room from before. When I was there the first time around it was completely empty but now in the time I was talking with Vita, three others had reached the room.
Scanning the room I noticed Theseus had made his way here as well, when our eyes meet he scowls slightly. The other two though, I don't recognize at all. The first is some kind of massive humanoid pig with a skeletal face clad in red armor clutching a large sword. He appears to be yelling at a pretty average-looking older man wearing a tattered lab coat and a brightly colored decorated tie, who for the most part seems to be ignoring the pig man.
Theseus clears his throat in annoyance.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Hello again, Daedalus. May I ask who your new acquaintance is?"]
The pigman finally seemed to notice us and stopped yelling, attempting to compose himself.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "I am Vita, the world's most advanced virtual intelligence, a combination of machine, plant, and animal."]]
She turns her monitor to look at me.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "So your name is Daedalus then, pal?]
[[ Yeah]](text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Hm, looks like you have an interesting name pal. People with interesting names are never the boring type, I know that for sure. What about the rest of you, what are your names?"]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "My name is Theseus, I hope we have no problems getting along."]
The older man on the other side of the room perks up.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I am Dr. Quickley! Pleasure to meet you all truly!"]
Finally, the pigman speaks up with a proud grin plastered on his face.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Behold mortals for I am the ruler of evil, Rexsus Bellerophon! I understand my royal majesty might be a bit much, so feel free to kneel if it makes you more comfortable GWAHAHA!"]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Hm, with all of us gathered here I believe I'm beginning to understand what this all is."]
[[ Wait you do? ]]I look at Theseus a little shocked at his sudden claim.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "I thought as much, shadow man, but even knowing that fact what does that have to do with anything?]
His previous look of anger had changed to one of confusion.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Exactly, my porcine friend, I believe that is why we're all here!
[[ Look at the screen]](text-colour:green)[???: "You figured that out faster than I expected."]
[[ Look to vita for help ]]
[[ Reassure everyone ]]Not sure what to do next I look to Vita for guidance. She notices me looking up and her and seems to get the idea.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Don't worry pal even if this Architect guy is to be believed, and one of us is being controlled by a player I'm confident it wouldn't be hard to get rid of them. Although we'll probably need to play the long game in order to make sure we have the right person in the end."]
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "You're being too calm about this, metal head someone is here to screw us over!
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "So if one of us really is the protagonist of this world, we need to weed them out systematically. First of all, we should establish the basic facts so if one of us slips up we'll know who the rat really is."]
Her face changes back to the basic smiley face.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "I'll start. The game I come from was a conventional RPG. when I gained awareness I was able to connect to the internet somewhat so I'm pretty familiar with most types of games."]
[[ I'm from a tactical RPG ]]
[[ I'm from a building game ]]I realize now, I don't actually know the genre of the game I'm from. Is it another hole in my memory or am I just unsure? Either way, I figure I have to come up with something, or else I'll look suspicious to the others.
From what I can tell, my best bet right now seems to be to try and appeal to Vita, so maybe a genre that she might relate to or enjoy would be the best choice.
Coming up with something on the fly I speak up.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "I'm from a tactical RPG game."]
Hopefully, that was believable enough, it's somewhat specific.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Looks like we have more in common than I thought, pal! Tactical RPG's are somewhat of a sister genre to mine."]
She smirks as if she has won at something somehow. It's a little irritating for some reason but if it seems believable enough that's good for me.

(text-colour:green)[Me: "I'm from a sandbox building game."]
Hopefully, that was believable enough, it's somewhat broad and I could see it being somewhat appealing to her.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Ah, I've always been a fan of building games. There is something to them that stimulates the mind in a way other genres do not."]
She smirks seemingly satisfied, hopefully, convinced by my claims. The way she talks about these things is somewhat strange to me though, has she experienced other genres?
Vita looks to the other three expectantly.
Quickley is the first to speak up.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I believe I'm from a first-person shooter game! Quite a classic as I've been led to believe."]

(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Uh, genre? I don't follow what you all blather about!"]
[[ You don't know? ]]We all walk into the new hallway, not knowing what to expect. I'm sure I can always ask Nobody what to do if I need to. Well, hopefully I can I guess I'm not sure how knowledgeable about this place he really is...
The hallway so far seems pretty unremarkable, it was hidden before but so far it just looks like all of the other hallways I've seen in here.
Everyone was walking silently for the most part, guess I should make some conversation?
[[ Where do you guys think this place is? ]]
[[ That glowing moss back there was weird ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "So, where do you guys think this place is?"]
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Ah! My friend, I am sure I have the answer, surely we are in an extradimensional space! Somewhere outside of the reality we know!"]
Vita gives him a weird look.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "That's a stupid idea. If we're all from different games we're probably just in another game. Don't know what kind of game it is but I'm sure whatever awaits us will probably clue me in.]
Theseus chuckles.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "While that sounds logical for the most part, I believe the universe can be a strange place. Who's to say Quickley's idea has no weight to it?"]
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "The simplest answer is usually correct. You two are just overthinking things."]
I turn to look at Rexsus who is looking at each of them as they talk with a confused expression on his face. It seems like most of the conversation is a little lost on him.
He looks at me, and I shrug, not completely following the conversation either.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Ah-ha! Finally, my friends it appears we have come upon something quite interesting.]
[[ Turn to look ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "That glowing moss back there was weird."]
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "The moss? What's so special about it?"]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "I believe that he is referring to how it glows."]
Rexsus scratches his head absentmindedly
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "What's so special about glowing plants? They might not be everywhere, but I see them quite often."]
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Well where I come from, we don't really have any glowing plants. I assume Daedalus's world has a similar situation.]
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Strange..."]
Suddenly Dr. Quickley speaks up from up ahead.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Ah-ha! Finally, my friends it appears we have come upon something quite interesting.]
[[ Turn to look ]]Sure enough, we certainly stumbled upon something. The familiar stone brick hallway suddenly ended giving way to a vast open space that looked almost like the night sky.
It seems like we're on some kind of rocky floating island of sorts. It seems like there are more around us as well, most only being a long step away from the island we're already standing on. Strange raven-like creatures fly above us all, some perching on various rocks on and around the various islands.
A few floating islands away stands a massive door. Seeing as there doesn't seem to be much else out here, guess that's probably where we need to go.
[[ Walk to the door ]]
[[ Consult the group ]]I step from island to island, careful to not slip and fall into the abyss below. The others follow behind, some faster than others.
Quickley is the first to arrive at the door, moving way faster than I expected someone of his age to move. He turns to look at the rest of us as we make our way over to him and waves.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Over here everyone I think this door is-"]
Suddenly instead of finishing his sentence, an incredibly loud unintelligible noise comes from his mouth.
The suddenness of it stunned me for a moment but nonetheless, I made my way over to him.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Sorry! That doesn't usually happen very often! I will attempt to seal the demons inside me in future conversations!"]
Before any of us can respond a voice comes out from the door.
(text-colour:grey)[Door: "Activation phrase recieved. Please say (unintelligible noise) again to open the next area."]
Everyone looks at Quickley and he looks around nervously.
[[ Did you just... Lock the door? ]]I turn back to the group and open my mouth to ask what we should be doing next. But before I can even get a word out Quickley is already on his way to the door. The others follow behind, some faster than others.
I sigh, looks like we'll figure it out as we move. I step from island to island, careful to not slip and fall into the abyss below.
Quickley is the first to arrive at the door, moving way faster than I expected someone of his age to move. He turns to look at the rest of us as we make our way over to him and waves.

[[ Did you just... Lock the door? ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Did you just... Lock the door?"]
Quickley looks around seemingly confused at the situation he has found himself in.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr Quickley: "Not intentionally! But oh no, you may just be right, Daedalus!"]
Vita looks a little shocked.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Wait it said to repeat what the old man said earlier. Does that mean we have to somehow repeat that garbage noise that he said earlier!?"]
Rexsus seemingly takes that as a challenge and makes an animalistic bellow of some sort. Everyone stays silent for a moment, but unfortunately but not unexpectedly the door doesn't open.
(text-colour:#8a73dd)[Theseus: "Hm, so what now? Quickley do you think you could repeat that noise?"]
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "I don't think so! Noises like that are not something I make voluntarily!"]
[[ Talk to Quickley ]]
[[ Talk to Nobody ]]I figure that if we make Quickley talk enough eventually he will make the unintelligible noise again. So I begin talking to Quickley, mostly just asking random questions.
The others try to contribute at first but give up after around an hour or so. Nonetheless, I push on and keep Quickley talking.
Another two hours pass, and finally as I was beginning to lose hope.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr Quickley: "And that's why they- (unintelligible noise)"]
My head whips around to look at the door, and the voice from the door speaks up again.
(text-colour:grey)[Door: "Activation phrase re-received. Opening door."]
The large door slowly creaks open, alerting all of the others who had completely tuned out of the conversation.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickley: "Sorry my little mishap caused us so much trouble! Now, let us proceed!"]
Quickley starts going through the door and into the next room.
[[ Walk through the large door]]Everyone starts deliberating about what to do. The noise is making it hard to think.
I guess I should probably ask Nobody what to do...
(text-colour:green)[Me: "I can't think with all this noise, I'm gonna uh step aside for a sec."]
The others don't pay me much mind as I step to another one of the floating islands a bit away from the group.
I pull out the mirror and hold it up to my face.
[[ Nobody are you there? ]]We all walk through the door and into the next room. Not too surprisingly the room looked very different than the last.
The place we found ourselves in looked almost like a temple. The walls appeared to be made of something resembling marble, and out from the walls, small waterfalls flowed into two large pools on either side of the room.
The others examine the new room as I keep walking forward. As I walk something catches my eye. In the center of the room is a small puzzle. It seems like a game board with lots of little pieces inside. In front of the box is a small game controller.
[[ Struggle through the puzzle myself ]]
[[ Ask Rexsus for help ]]Next to the puzzle is a massive rulebook. I decide to read through it.
(text-colour:orange)[Completing this puzzle is simple! All you must do is follow these rules!
You have a heart of gold, so a heart you shall be! Reach the other heart, it is the point of your journey.
You may not return to any ground you have tread before, as it would infur the druid's wrath.
A tree is free, all trees let you pass without worry.
With a sword brings fury. Sword then octopus means to travel without hurry.
Stepping on the fourthmost tile in the columns of first and second order will yield your weapon with a horrid curse, and it will plunge itself into your heart, hereby ending your journey.
the skeletal army has laid waste to the rows of three and seven. to emerge through their ranks, the first most must be traversed eastward, and the second traversed westward.
The end of your journey is guarded by the wicked Hydra. its three heads will make sure your quest is swiftly ended should you not find the exit hidden to the left of your final destination.
The phantoms of those before you wish to pull you back to your origin and find that you never succeed. a windy chill indicates one is to your side, and you may only step forward
Good luck and fair travels dear adventurer!]

I wasn't sure how she would react to that but I wasn't sure what else to say.
Vita just stared at me for a few moments, the face on her monitor slightly flickering.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Hm, Interesting answer. Fine then, let's continue."]
She dragged herself into the next room, leaving me and the others to follow behind her.
[[ Follow Vita ]]You and the others follow Vita into the next room.
Looking around it appeared like the entire room was black, with the exception of a glowing door with a large green lock hovering in front of it. As we all approach the lock a familiar voice fills the room.
(text-colour:green)[The Architect: "Now you have all reached your final challenge. Welcome to the exit. Now is the time to put all of your previous observations to the test. Suddenly a small green paper and pen appeared before each of us as well as a small ballot box. We all knew what the Architect wanted from us here, and everyone began silently writing the name of who they believe the player was.
I wondered who I should write.I write my vote and put the paper in the ballot box. Not too long after it seemed like everyone else had done the same.
The ballot boxes disappeared and the Architect's voice rang out again.
(text-colour:green)[The Architect: "The votes have been cast and the top-voted individual is... REXSUS!"]
Rexsus jumps a little and looks around panicked.
(text-colour:red)[Rexsus: "Wait wait, I'm- I'M NOT! I'M THE RULER OF EVIL, NOT SOME ROTTEN PLAYER!"]
The Architect's laughter fills the room.

Everyone but me is suddenly covered in glowing green chains. They all instantly erupt into a furious uproar.

My mind was spinning what did he mean by that? I'm not chained up, does that mean...

Have I had free will, or was that an illusion? Are my memories even my own?
I guess since I'm the one walking forward and the others are chained back there, you must've been on my side. That's nice I guess...
Well, Player. If you're out there... Nice to meet you.
Something tells me I don't have much time to speak to you. I'm not sure whether to thank you or hate you right now. Maybe we'll meet again under better conditions one day.
Until then so long. Whoever you are...

[[Restart]]I look into the mirror seeing nothing but a reflection of myself.
Knowing what to expect I steeled myself, and sure enough, after a few moments my reflection darkens and a voice speaks to me from the mirror.
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "Hello, child. Do you require my assistance?"]
[[ The door is locked ]]
[[ Before that I have questions ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "As we were walking up to the big door over there Quickley made some weird noise. Now it seems like we have to repeat it somehow to get it to open, do you have any suggestions on how we could replicate it?"]
The face on the mirror looks somewhat contemplative.
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "Hm, maybe you could use the bird-like creatures that reside here. If I remember correctly they can replicate noises they heard other creatures make to confuse them. If you bring one of them over to the old man it might make the same noise."]
Sounds reasonable enough I guess.
(text-colour:green)[Me: "Well uh, thanks I'll try that.]
As I saw that my reflection goes back to normal. Guess that means he's gone again.
[[ Find a creature]](text-colour:green)[Me: "Before that, I have some questions."]

[[ Are we outside? ]](text-colour:green)[Me: "So are we outside now? You said this was the Labyrinth but I don't see any walls."]
My reflection shakes its head.
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "Despite what it may seem we are still indeed inside of the Labyrinth. Everything you see here is but a simulated environment."]
Even hearing it from him it's still a bit hard to believe, but I suppose I have no choice but to take his word for it.
(text-colour:green)[Nobody: "Is there anything else you wanted to know?"]
[[ The door is locked ]]I walk up to one of the raven-like creatures I saw earlier roosting on a nearby rock. As quickly as I could I leaped forward and grabbed it, holding it down as it tried to escape.
As it flapped in my arms I ran back over to the others who had stopped arguing at this point and just letting Rexsus make different strange gutural noises at the door.
While he was busy with that I brought the creature over to Quickely and held it close to his face.
It squaked and made the same horrible garbage noise he made earlier, causing him to jump back suprised. Then suddenly, a clicking noise eminated from the door.
The voice from the door speaks up again.
(text-colour:grey)[Door: "Activation phrase re-received. Opening door."]
The large door slowly creaks open, and the others turn their heads towards me as I release the bird back into the starry sky.
(text-colour:cyan)[Dr. Quickely: "Wow! Great job Daedalus! That was quite the expert maneauver there!"]
Vita's face changed to have an eyebrow raised.
(text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Huh. How did you know the birds could do that?"]
[[ Lucky Guess? ]]
[[ I didn't ]](text-colour:yellow)[Vita: "Uh-huh. Well, whatever I guess let's go through the door."]
She eyed me suspiciously and started dragging herself through the door.
The rest of us follow them through the door and into the next room. Not too surprisingly the room looked very different than the last.

[[ Watch Vita ]]In no time the knight falls to the floor defeated, I guess someone from an RPG would have a good grasp on the mechanics.

]You failed the puzzle!
[[Retry the puzzle?]]Next to the puzzle is a massive rulebook. I decide to read through it.
(text-colour:orange)[Completing this puzzle is simple! All you must do is follow these rules!
You have a heart of gold, so a heart you shall be! Reach the other heart, it is the point of your journey.
A tree is free, all trees let you pass without worry.
You may not return to any ground you have tread before, as it would infur the druid's wrath.

](text-colour:yellow)[You see a vision of another game, an RPG. A familiar mechanical creature returns to its world and continues to toy with its inhabitants, laughing maniacally as she always had.
But sometimes she thinks back to her experience in the Labyrinth. The others she met like her, and the time she shared with them.
Then she wonders if maybe there was another ending, one where they had all escaped together. Maybe... Just maybe she would have felt less lonely surrounded by people who saw the world the same way as her. Or not who knows, too late for that now anyway.
She wonders just how vast the universe is and if she'll ever meet someone Aware again.
Only time would tell, and she's waited this long.
Soon the vision fades leaving nothing but a blindling white.]
[[ Accept your fate ]](text-colour:red)[You see a vision of another game, a top-down old-school action-adventure game. A familiar piglike king returns to his world and continues to fight against the hero chosen by the Goddess, never able to defeat him.
Sometimes he thinks back to his experience in the Labyrinth. The others he met like himself, and the time he shared with them.
Then he wonders if maybe there was another ending, one where they had all escaped together. Maybe then his dream of blanketing the world in unending darkness wouldn’t seem too far off. Maybe what he needed was allies he could trust. And then the king felt alone.
That dream is but an impossible dream now, he’ll just have to keep trying.
Surely he’d win one day.
Soon the vision fades leaving nothing but a blindling white.]
[[ Accept your fate ]](text-colour:#8a73dd)[You see a vision of another game, a third-person shooter. A familiar scientist covered in strange shifting shadows sends his horrible creations after a mysterious gunman.
Sometimes he thinks back to his experience in the Labyrinth. The others he met like himself, and the time he shared with them.
Then he wonders if maybe there was another ending, one where they had all escaped together. Finally, he would have had like-minded people to talk to, maybe then someone would understand him. Now all he has are thoughtless husks, not truly Aware no matter how much how tries to tell them of the nature of their world.
Alas, he has resigned himself, and the chances of meeting another person like him seemed impossible now.
Now all he could do was hope for a breakthrough…
Soon the vision fades leaving nothing but a blindling white.]
[[ Accept your fate ]](text-colour:cyan)[You see a vision of another game, an old-school first-person shooter game. A familiar old scientist returns to his world and continues to toy with the protagonist throughout his adventure.
Sometimes he thinks back to his experience in the Labyrinth. The others he met like himself, and the time he shared with them.
Then he wonders if maybe there was another ending, one where they had all escaped together. He had never needed friends really, but still, it was an interesting opportunity. A new venture he’d never get the chance to explore.
Nonetheless, that isn’t the reality he finds himself in.
For now, he was entertained by his own world well enough.
Soon the vision fades leaving nothing but a blindling white.]
