You are home from your work, alone in this lone humble abode.
A sigh leaves your mouth as you drop your bag to a corner. Your body follows, but to a nearby couch. You bounce from the momentum, the cushion bouncy. You lay down. Your body sinks within, eating you in like a quicksand. You look up, eyeslashes fluttering slowly, until you stop blinking. Your chest heaves as you take deep breaths, emptying your mind before it consumes you.
You turn to your side, eyes now open. Your sister would be laying down there, mostly occupying the couch with barely any space for you left. Her head laid down on the cushioned arm of the couch. Her phone in horizontal, grasped in both side. She's playing another game of hers. Sometimes you thought about buying another sofa, one each for both of you. She's getting taller, but she would never reach past your ears. She would always be your //little// sister. Emphasis on the word, little.
You begrudgingly pull yourself up from the comfort of the cushioned seat that slowly hypnotizes you into daydreaming before a meal. You amble to the kitchen, greeted by the mountainous dishes on the sink. You turn back to the sofa. You would remind your sister about it, and she would groan aloud instead of telling you she doesn't want to do it. Despite her wordless, but soundly protest, she begrudgingly pulled herself up from the comfort of the same cushioned haven you were in. She tramped towards the sink, passing you. She began washing the dishes. You were afraid that a broken dish would be the result for disturbing her from her beloved games, surprisingly, despite her reluctance, she professionally finished it without an accident. She's a true expert in dishwashing. That's exactly why it's her job between you two. Kidding aside, it's only you and the mountainous dishes now. No one to remind to, and no one to hear a loud groan instead of a verbal straightforward protest from.
You have always been a clean freak, so seeing this mountainous dishes is getting in your nerves, and you're not eating until it's gone. Your mind might only be exaggerating its amount. How did you not wash this earlier anyway? Ah, right. you were in hurry.
//*squish, squash, squish*//
That has been taken care of, sparkling clean, even the sink, the counter, the microwave— ah, you overdid it again. Your sister would pass by and remind you not to overdo it, else you would be bedridden sick after. But she isn't here to remind you about that anymore.
You let out a dramatic sigh. Enough of this sob flashbacks. You have to get yourself together. Is she even real? Or are you this lonely? That you're starting to imagine you had a sister, that you're starting to miss what you never had.
You look around the room, even to the other rooms. She vanished without a trace. One towel, one pair of slippers, one toothbrush. You do have more than two mugs.
She has gone with the wind, or perhaps she never breathed the same air as you.
//*ding dong*//
You have to eat. Your hunger is turning you crazy. But you shouldn't keep your guest waiting. You also have to thank them for snapping you from your delirium.
You stride to the door, and as you open the door, you are greeted by the brightest smile of your friend, a letter in hand. Your mouth tilts slightly up at the corner, knowing it's another letter from your sister.
You accept the letter, excited to tear it open and read the content, but you put your attention back to your friend who's still standing by the outside of your abode. You offer to let him in, but he shakes his head sagely, saying his job there is done and walks away giddily.
You look back at the letter, and it does say that it's...

Thank you for being ever so understanding to me before until now. I have a good news! I want to take Literature as my course in college. I can't wait to go back to school and finish where I left off. I am quite nervous, but excited at the same time. I somehow miss my school days. I would daydream and dream about it. I'm scared, but I want to move forward. Weren't for your understanding, patience and unwavering and unconditional support, I wouldn't be here right now. So I thank you profusely.
I have always been wondering what to do after that — where should I work and what do I do? Recently, I have thought of that. Thanks to that time when mom and I went out to meet one of her batchmates, which was also our grandmother's student. He told me about grandma, how she taught, how she was, and what helped and inspired him. It also inspired me. Truthfully speaking, I have been receiving praises about my teaching skills. I might've inherited it from grandma. But I am not confident about it. I have fears and insecurities. What if I will fail? What if I inconvenience others? What if I'm actually not good at it? What if they were just being nice? So many doubts and what ifs. But I want to try. Teaching in kindergarten, elementary or highschool requires a separate course, so I thought why not teach in college? I don't really have much experience nor knowledge about college yet. I only ever heard about it from others. I will know if I really want to teach there someday once I step a foot there. I have Plan B anyway! Before that I have thought of working in art galleries, museums or publishing houses. It's scary. I know so little about career life.
It's just a plan though. Things might not go the way I thought of, but that's alright. As long as we're alright by the end of it. I just want to reassure myself about the future, even if it isn't fixed. I get so scared about the unknown. I am ever so cautious, so I'm trying to be prepared as possible.
It was nice to see mom reunite with her peers and enjoy, and I enjoyed hearing their stories too.

"You used my phone to contact her before, when you got your phone deadbat. She contacted me again through it. She told me about her plans for your birthday, and if I can help her with it. It intrigued me, and I had time to pass, so why not?" He shrugs nonchalantly. "Happy birthday, by the way." He smiles.

"For the first letter, I was the one who knocked at your door and left the letter as I sprint away as fast as I can." He explains rather sheepishly. You can imagine him actually running for his life for the mysterious vibe to be achieved, and you can't help but chuckle.
"For the second letter, I left it there when I had the chance to enter your house before. Hoping you wouldn't find it before I give you the first letter." He sighs in relief.
"For the rest of the letters, I had to follow you around to leave them in their place in the right order."
"You stalker," you tease, nudging him. He chuckles sheepishly. "So I take that you're the one who left it in the marketplace too?" You ask, and he nods in confirmation.
"It does make sense that you can leave it in that restaurant's kitchen, because we used to work there together."
He nods twice, somehow proud of what he has done, and you congratulate him for succeeding.
"I wanted you to have a great day too."

"Well, she told me she wants to make something like a treasure hunt that wouldn't take too much of your time, because she wants to consider how busy you can be," he explains. "She made the letters and sent it to me in pdf, and I printed it here and prepared it. She paid for it, of course, but the //labor//."
"Oh, you want to get paid?" You tease.
"Nah, no need." He grins.
"How magnanimous of you!"
And you both giggle.
