Home Invader

It's been another hard day at work and driving along your street you're glad to be getting home. You turn onto the driveway of your modest suburban detached house. It will be good to have a nice meal and relax with your partner for the evening with a good drink. You turn onto your driveway and immediately you sense that something is not right. You see that the garage door is very slightly open but it was probably the other half not closing it properly. The front door is shut. You get out of the car and open the garage fully. The door makes a loud grating metal on metal sound as it rises. Everything seems to be in order here. Nothing to worry about it seems. You exit the car and shut the garage door properly. It makes a grating noise followed by a loud metallic bang as it shuts. You approach the front door as you fumble for your house keys. You insert your key and attempt to unlock the door. It does not turn any further. You try the handle and find that the door is already unlocked. Now your unease grows because your partner likes to keep everything locked. You open the door and go in to be greeted by a hulking man in a boiler suit. Before you can react, he lays you out with one punch. You come to gagged and tied to a chair beside your significant other. The man delights as he takes turns flaying the skin off your bodies, slowly and agonizingly, until it thankfully ends... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

You approach the front door as you fumble for your house keys. You insert your key and attempt to unlock the door. It does not turn any further. You try the handle and find that the door is already unlocked. Now your unease grows because your partner likes to keep everything locked. You open the door and go in. You sprint up the stairs to rescue your partner. You are unsure which room they are in. By the time you find your partner you are greeted by the sight of them tied up on a chair with their throat slit, blood pouring down their body and their eyes pleading. As you run forward to them, you are hit on the back of your head from behind. You fall into the growing pool of blood and blackness takes over, forever... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

Immediately you grab the phone and call police emergency. You tell them that someone has broken into your house and has your partner. You are told to wait outside and police will be there immediately. Unfortunately it was ten minutes too late to save your partner or to catch their murderer who escaped out the back door long before the police turned up. Will they come back for you? You enter the kitchen which is in its usual neat, clean and tidy condition. You do notice one thing. One of the kitchen knives is missing from its storage block. You hunt around the kitchen searching for the knife. It is nowhere to be seen. As you are bending down to check the dishwasher, you are struck on the back of your head from behind. You fall to the floor and see the leering face of a man with a bloody knife coming closer. You lose conciousness, never to return... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

Feeling some comfort from the kitchen knife you are wielding, you start heading up the stairs. Half way up the stairs you can hear a whimper followed by gurgling noises. It sounds like the noises are coming from the master bedroom. As you begin climbing the stairs you can hear muffled whimpers and a low gravelly voice coming from the master bedroom. You can: [[Approach the master bedroom->Master bedroom unarmed]] [[Hide in the other bedroom->Other bedroom unarmed]]

You decide to check out upstairs. Half way up the stairs you can hear a whimper followed by gurgling noises. It sounds like the noises are coming from the master bedroom. You enter your home through the internal door from the garage. As you are closing the door behind you, you hear a faint gurgling sound upstairs. Wondering what that could be, you turn the corner for the stairs in time to see a red hand holding a red stick, no, a knife as it thrusted towards your chest. The impact sends you falling to the floor and suddenly you feel the pain shooting through your body. Your white shirt has suddenly become red in colour. The man chuckles as he stands over you before he walks away into darkness of your failing vision... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

You approach the door to the master bedroom and can see a horrific scene. Your significant other is tied to a chair, blood pouring from their neck. A burly man in a boiler suit stands before them admiring his handiwork. He turns around just as you get to the door. He smiles and raises his knife into a fighting stance. Enraged by the sight before you, you charge at the man with your knife. You quickly realise the stupidity of your actions. You are not a fighter. This man clearly is. He takes great pleasure in this quick and one-sided knife fight... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

The man smiles at you and advances. You know that you have no chance against him in a fight. You throw your knife at him as hard as you can but it flies past his head. Luck is clearly not with you today. Before you can turn and run his blade pierces your belly. He takes great pride in the art he creates over the next ten minutes... You know that you have no chance against this brute. You turn and run as fast as you can. Fortunately the intruder is not built for speed. You manage to get away and call the authorities. Unfortunately your significant other was not so fortunate... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

You wait in the other bedroom for what seems like hours. After all, discretion is the better part of valour but, for the rest of your miserable life you feel like you really should have had the guts to do something... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

As the man steps to the top of the stairs you feel that you have the perfect opportunity. You lunge out of the room and shove him as hard as you can. He tumbles down the short flight of steps. As you stand relieved at his demise at the top of the steps, he starts moving. He snarls as he gets up of the floor. The last thing you see is him surging up the stairs, his face full of rage... As he leaves the master bedroom and walks towards the stairway, you prepare to strike. You can hear his heavy footsteps and as he begins his decsent, you rush out and stab him in the back. The blade is in deep and he cries out in pain. He turns around to retaliate but stumbles on the step and falls down the stairs. He lands hard on his back, pushing the blade in deeper through vital organs. You are relieved to hear his last breath leave his body. A pity that you were too slow to save the love of your life... Having secured a weapon you feel a little better. Its probably nothing to worry about but better safe than sorry. As you begin climbing the stairs you can hear muffled whimpers and a low gravelly voice coming from the master bedroom. Enraged by the sight before you, you charge at the man, even though you are unarmed. You quickly realise the stupidity of your actions. You are not a fighter. This man clearly is. He drops his knife and takes great pleasure in pummelling the life out of you... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]

You approach the door to the master bedroom and can see your other half is gagged and bound to a chair. A burly man in a boiler suit stands is crouching in front of them with a knife near their neck. He turns around just as you get to the door. He smiles and raises his knife into a fighting stance. As you hide in the bedroom you get to hear him torturing his prisoner. You try to think of something to do to save them but you cannot. Soon the muffled screams end and gurgling begins as their throat is severed. The man leaves the room and heads for the stairs. You can: [[Wait until he is gone->Wait]]. You rush at the man with your knife as you have to try to rescue your better half despite their frantic head shaking. Unfortunately it seems that perhaps he was ex special forces or similar because he quickly incapacitates you. You get to watch a master of torture work his magic, before he begins on you... The man smiles at you and advances. You know that you have no chance against him in a fight. You throw your knife at him as hard as you can and it flies true, slicing through vital blood vessels in his neck. Luck is with you today it seems. He drops his knife and drops to his knees, clutching his neck as he tries in vain to stop the blood loss. In a few more seconds he falls face first and bleeds out. You quickly untie your partner and run for it. You call the authorities from a neighbours house and get to live a happy life together... [[Relive this event->Arriving home]]
