I called nurses in to assist with the patients wellbeing. They awoke trapped in a deep melancholic state. Ashen-face and a clouded haze over their pupils- I checked for signs of blindness. But the patient is responsive to all movements, perhaps too responsive. A slight movement sends them into a physical turmoil. Lifting my hand to show them the small tincture filling up nicely nearly caused them a full scale sensory shock. Dr Perceiver (1878)
