Wecome to "Deaddrift". You play as Edgar "Bushwacker" Bernard, a cowboy. You will be having an adventure that takes you to the town of Grimriver.
Continue to next [[part]]The date is September 7, 1854. You are Edgar "Bushwacker" Bernard, a cowboy. You find yourself on the outskirts of the town of Grimriver. "That was certainly interesting." you think to yourself. You look down at your hand. It seems rather normal. You decide to look at your revolver. You find that there is a empty chamber. "That's odd." you think to yourself, "I'm certain that i had fully loaded the revolver before my journey. How is there 1 empty chamber?".
You look at the [[Town Limits Sign]]You see the town limits sign. "So." you say to yourself, "This is the town of Grimriver. This is rather interesting.". You look around the area. You soon see "The Rabid Hawk", a tavern. "So." you say to yourself, "There it is.".
You head over to [[The Rabid Hawk]].You soon arrive at "The Rabid Hawk". "I'm finally here." you say to yourself. At that moment, you climb off your horse. You hitch your horse to the nearby hitching post. You proceed to enter the [[place]].You enter the bar. You look around the area. "This is rather interesting." you say to yourself. At that moment, you proceed to approach the bar. Morgan Adams, the bsrtender, sees him. "Welcome to the Rabid Hawk." said Morgan, "What can i get for you?". "I'll have the Brandy Rumble." you replied. "Coming right up." said Morgan. At that moment, Morgan proceeds to fill out the drink order. He soon fills out the drink order. He hands the drink to you. You pay for the drink. "I see you're not from around here." said Morgan, "Just where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?".
You [[respond]]."I'm from the town of Stalewater." you respond. At that moment, you think of something. "Why in the Ancient Worlds did you ask?" you ask the bartender. "I was just wondering." responds Morgan. "I get it now." you respond.
What will you do now?
[[Punch Morgan]].
[[Shoot Morgan]]
[[Shoot up the place]]
[[Spend some time at the place]]You proceed to punch Morgan. "Ow." said Morgan, "What was that for?". At that moment, Morgan proceeds to punch you in return. Soon enough, a bar brawl breaks out. You are soon kicked out of the place. You are soon arrested. You have gotten the bad ending. The End.You take out your revolver. You aim it at Morgan. Unfortunately, Morgan is quicker on the draw than you. He shoots you before you had a chance to pull the trigger. You die from your wounds. Morgan calls for the undertaker. Your dead corpse is taken out of the tavern. You have gotten the bad ending. The End.You proceed to take out your guns. You decide to shoot up the place. Moments pass. You managed to get access to the safe. You point both guns at Morgan. You force him to open the safe. You managed to get him to open the safe. You gather all of the contents of the safe. At that moment, you proceed to leave the tavern. You look around the area. At that moment, you see the town's bank. "I have a idea." you say to yourself, "I should rob the bank.". At that moment, you head over to the [[bank]].You decide to spend some time at the place. You buy a couple of more drinks. You also look over at the nearby mirror. You notice something strange ab out yourself, as in, you look rather pale - almost dead.
[[a hour passes]]You rush into the bank. At that moment, you proceed to point your guns into the air. You fire a couple of shots into the air. "Alright." you yell, "This is a stickup. Hand over all your money and valuables.". At that moment, you see the customers and other people step towards you. They proceed to drop their valuables at the floor before you. You proceed to grab the money and valuables, and place them in your bag. You gather all of the money and valuables. "Thanks for cooperating." you say. At that moment, you proceed to gain access into the vault. You soon clear out the contents of the vault. You leave the bank.
"That was rather interesting." you say to yourself. You look around the area. You head over to another area. At that moment, you see Neal Bullseye, a bandit. "I see the killer is still alive." said Neal. "What in the Ancient Worlds are you talking about?" you ask Neal. "Oh." said Neal, "You don't remember, do you?". "Not at all." you respond. "You were the one who killed Helry Mason." responds Neal, "He is a bounty hunter.". "Why was he after me?" you ask.
Neal [[mentions the truth]]"You are an notorious outlaw." said Neal, "Or rather, used to be one, before you died.". "What do you mean?" you asked. "It all happened 3 years ago." said Neal, "We were part of a gang of outlaws, known as The Cobalt Serpents.". "I get it now." you respoond, "We had a falling out of some sort.". "Something like that." said Neal. "What exactly do you mean?" you ask. "There was a small rift in our gang." said Neal, "Some of the members sided with Spider Darwyn, in his attempt to overthrow Clayton the Heist. Clayton is the leader of the gang, by the way.". "I get it now." you respond. "Some of the members still sided with Clayton." said Neal.
"I get it now." you respond. "You were one of the ones who sided with Clayton." said Neal, "So was i.". "How did i die?" you asked Neal.
[[Neal reveals the truth]]"You still sided with Clayton." Neal replies. "What happened next?" you asked. "Spider Darwyn shot you in the back before you could react." replied Neal. "Oh my god!!!" you exclaim, "It all makes sense.".
[[Ask about Spider Darwyn]]
[[Ask what happened to Clayton]]
[[Ask how you came back from the dead]]
[[Ask what Neal wants from you now]]"This is great." you say to yourself. At that moment, you think to yourself. "I think i'll shoot up the place.". You proceed to [[Shoot up the place]] “Spider Darwyn…” you mutter, the name tasting bitter on your tongue. Neal lets out a long breath. “Darwyn was the most ruthless of us. Always waited for a chance to strike, always smiling when someone bled. When the gang split, he didn’t hesitate—he took the ones hungry for violence and carved out his own little empire.” Neal steps closer. “He shot you because he feared you. You were loyal to Clayton, and loyalty scared Darwyn more than bullets ever did.” A chill creeps down your spine as you realize the man who killed you may still be out there.
[[Ask what happened to Clayton]] “What about Clayton?” you ask, hoping for a familiar anchor in the chaos. Neal’s expression softens—just a little. “Clayton the Heist… he tried to hold us together. He wasn’t perfect, but he was fair.” Neal glances toward the dusty horizon. “After your death, the gang fell apart. Clayton vanished soon after—some say he headed west; others say Darwyn finished him off quietly.” Neal meets your eyes again. “But no one really knows. For all we know, he’s still out there, waiting for a chance to set things right.”
[[Ask how you came back from the dead]] “How in the Ancient Worlds did I come back?” you whisper. Neal’s face grows pale. “That’s the part I don’t understand,” he admits. “You were dead. I saw it happen. We buried you ourselves, under the cedar trees near Coldgraves Pass.” He rubs the back of his neck, unsettled. “But three nights ago, rumors started spreading. Folks swore they saw a pale man on horseback, wandering like he’d forgotten how to breathe.” He gestures at you. “And now here you are… walking, talking, acting like nothing happened. Something brought you back—but whatever it was, it wasn’t natural.”
[[Ask what Neal wants from you now]] “So what do you want from me, Neal?” you ask, stepping forward. Neal swallows hard and looks at you with a mix of regret and fear. “I want the truth,” he says. “I want to know why you’re here—what you’re planning. Darwyn’s men are restless, the town’s on edge, and the last thing Grimriver needs is a dead outlaw stirring up old ghosts.” He lowers his voice. “I don’t want to fight you, Bushwacker. But I need to know whether you’re here to fix what happened… or finish what you started.”
[[I'm here to fix things]]
[[I'm here to finish what i started]]
[[Shoot Neal]]“I’m here to fix things,” you repeat, this time with conviction. Neal studies you more intently, and slowly, the fear in his eyes softens into something like cautious hope. “Then you’re not the monster folks have been whispering about,” he mutters. Together, you step into the fading daylight, the streets of Grimriver stretching out in eerie quiet. The townsfolk peek through shutter cracks as they see the two of you walking side by side—an outlaw risen from the grave and the last loyal Serpent who still believes you can change.
The night comes quickly, and with it, Darwyn and his men. A firefight erupts under the blood-red moon, echoing down the alleys and empty storefronts. But this time, you’re faster. More focused. You fight not for greed, not for betrayal, but for the town you inadvertently doomed years ago. When Spider Darwyn lies dead in the dust, his gang scattered, the people of Grimriver step outside and face you not with fear… but gratitude. As dawn breaks, Neal nods toward the horizon. “You’ve done enough here,” he says. “Whatever brought you back… it gave you a second chance.”
You ride out of Grimriver quietly, the sun rising behind you—the redeemed ghost of a man who finally set things right.
You have gotten the Ending: "The Redeemer"
“I’m here to finish what I started,” you declare, and the wind itself seems to recoil from your words. Neal’s face hardens with disappointment. “Then you’re not the man I remember,” he says. “You’re something else now.” He backs away, but he doesn’t run. He knows it’s useless. “Darwyn, Clayton, the Serpents—they tore apart the West. If you want to dig up their bones, you’ll bury the whole frontier with them.” You holster your revolver and step past him, choosing a path paved in old blood and unfinished vengeance.
What follows is a storm. Grimriver becomes your battleground, and every outlaw in the territory learns to fear the pale ghost with the empty chamber in his revolver. Spider Darwyn falls first—then Clayton, who emerges from hiding to confront the chaos you’ve unleashed. In the final shootout, you stand alone among the ruins of your old gang, the last Serpent alive… or undead. The town stands silent behind you, half-burned and terrified. You turn your horse toward the horizon, the legend of “Bushwacker Bernard” growing darker with every passing mile.
No redemption. No peace. Only the relentless hunger of unfinished business.
You have gotten the Ending: "The Pale Butcher"The revolver fires before Neal even finishes blinking. He collapses to the dirt, confusion frozen in his eyes. The world around you grows unnaturally quiet, as if Grimriver itself is holding its breath. A strange coldness creeps up your spine—the same coldness you felt when you first noticed how pale you were, how dead you looked in the mirror. Killing Neal isn’t just another crime. It feels… wrong. Like tearing a stitch that was holding something monstrous shut.
The silence breaks as whispered voices drift through the streets—ghostly, accusing, familiar. You recognize them: the voices of the Serpents who died because of you. Shadows gather at the edges of the buildings, stretching toward you like claws. You holster your gun and back away, but there’s nowhere to run. The dead have come to claim one of their own. The sky darkens unnaturally as the specters encircle you, cold hands dragging you down into a darkness deeper than any grave. Grimriver later finds nothing but a scorch mark where you stood.
You didn’t just kill Neal—you tore open the veil, and the dead dragged you home.
You have gotten the Ending: "Taken by the Dead"
