The theme “Sea” reminded me of a time six years ago, when I was living alone in a small apartment not far from the beach in Enoshima, Japan. One day, with nothing particular to do, I decided to take a walk along the shore. The sky was cloudy, and I suddenly felt deeply lonely and sad. I couldn’t really explain why — perhaps it was simply the feeling of being alone, with the world seeming so small and quiet at that moment.
Remembering that feeling, I wrote this piece of music. It carries a simple, cold, and melancholic atmosphere, reflecting that sense of isolation by the sea. To add contrast and variety, I also introduced more intense sections, allowing the emotions to rise and fall throughout the piece.
