SCENE 1, FOREST (NIGHT) SHOT 1: FELIX, BEAR, ZOMBIES (Exterior Open FOREST, pan shot down, spinning dolly) [Camera stops on FELIX, hiding the ground from view up to knee height] ZOMBIES stand off-screen left, bobbing in and out of frame FELIX fights ZOMBIES in clearing, struggles We only see FELIX's left profile, hiding his mechanical arm FELIX swings wildly with his bat in his left arm, taking big steps back before lunging towards the ZOMBIES, swinging the bat in a wide arch FELIX breathes heavily as he steps away from the ZOMBIES and holds his breath as he lunges towards the ZOMBIES [Left-right Dolly pan, following FELIX, bobbing as he steps] FELIX stashes bat and starts walking right [camera reveals BEAR, stopping] BEAR stands, relaxed, to right of screen FELIX stops walking, begins to pant heavily, at mid-left of screen FELIX and BEAR step off screen left, FELIX takes a comically big step over ZOMBIES before leaving shot [Camera pans down, revealing 8-10 ZOMBIES lying prone on the ground, steadily getting back up] SHOT 2: FELIX, BEAR (Right-left pan) The JEEP rear comes into view, parked in a clearing that used to be a public park An overgrown "no parking" sign with faded text sits in the background, partially obscured by the JEEP FELIX and BEAR talk about their future, FELIX is exhausted [camera stops on front of JEEP] BEAR begins argument [Shot - Reverse Shot, pausing on facial expressions] B: "You need to take breaks.. We can cook some rations... You skipped breakfast this morning.." F: "..and yesterday, and the day before, right?" FELIX looks slightly bored, almost anticipating what BEAR is going to say B: "I appreciate that you want to be a hero right now, Cat, I do too, I want to fight these.." F: "Zombies!" B: "...Zombies with you, too. But-" FELIX starts to interrupt, BEAR holds up a finger to stop him B: "BUT! But the best thing, Cat, the most heroic thing that you can do right now is-" F: "-is to help out the community, Cat. Do everyone else's job for them, Cat. Stop protecting the town, Cat. Right, is that it? Bear?" BEAR nods solemnly F: "You want me to be redundant? Do things that are better left to other people? I can fight good, and not much else, Bear" B: "What are you talking about? You are literally the best mechanic I KNOW, Fee. And I know a few mechanics" FELIX blushes, weakly BEAR grabs FELIX's right arm, roughly and without warning B: "You built THIS from a hydraulic jack, a rubber glove, and some hinges from the scrap pile!" F: "And my previous prosthetic, and #2 screws that you bought for me, and metal sheets, some wood, spare copper wire, and a-" BEAR cuts FELIX off and then drops the arm B: "Besides! What we need right now IS redundancy, Cat, there aren't a lot of healthy people to work, the population is only going down.." F: "And *I* am out here to stop the drop! That's why we do these patrols in the first place" B: "You're going to get hurt, sick, or..." F: "..or worse, I could be bored to death wasting away in town, watching people drop around us? You realise that's my worst case scenario, don't you Lucas?" B: "Felix? I'm sorry" BEAR looks at FELIX with a mix of regret for pushing FELIX so hard and certainty that he's making the right decision in his eyes F: "You've given this monologue every month since the rebuild, without fail. Just stop, don't waste your breath on me, Bear" B: "Have you considered taking the offer that Eleni gave us?" FELIX looks ashamed, frightened, pensive, or a mix thereof B: "It's a perfect chance to stay close to the town without us having to live in the borders" FELIX perks up each time before speaking, looking uncomfortable before getting serious F: "I don't know, Lucas, I'm not- You know that I don't do well with people.. and directions.. and directing people" B: "Just for a week, and going to see Elli and the others will give us a chance to recoup and gather supplies for the next patrol" FELIX pauses, reflecting on what BEAR is saying B: "We're running low on supplies anyway, think about what Mom would say if we died to starvation and not to the infection" FELIX scoughs F: "She'd eat us herself" Through laughter, BEAR starts to parrot their mother's words at FELIX B: "If you two ever run out of supplies..." FELIX continues after a brief pause and a bit of gentle nudging F: "... you'd better hope that you don't make it back alive..." FELIX and BEAR finish the quote together B&F: "...because I'll kill you myself!" FELIX and BEAR make angry noises, even though neither of them remembers their mother being a grouchy person B: "if she ever found out" F: "if she ever found out" FELIX and BEAR gulp in unison BEAR pulls at his shirt collar like a noose FELIX flops his head to one side, sticking his tongue out B: "Alright, in!" BEAR holds the back driver's side door open for FELIX FELIX effortlessly jumps over the driver's door instead FELIX sighs, he feels soothed, but not convinced by BEAR's proposition SCENE 2 TRANS., JEEP (NIGHT) SHOT 3: FELIX, BEAR (Interior Back JEEP, camera centred on FELIX in back) JEEP is stationary FELIX wrapped up in blanket, lying curled up on his left side FELIX's head, left shoulder and most of his legs are sticking out FELIX's eyes are closed, his right arm is on a shelf above him FELIX moves a little (trying to get cozy) before settling in FELIX's head accessories are on the seat above his head BEAR seated in driver's seat, his body turned towards the back, he casts a shadow over FELIX BEAR turns around to face forward BEAR is heard sighing and his shadow raises its hands SHOT 4: BEAR (Interior Front JEEP, camera centred on BEAR's left profile (driver's side)) BEAR turns the ignition The JEEP stutters a little bit [Camera bounces] BEAR hits the dash board [Camera shakes with the dash] The JEEP starts BEAR lies back, exasperated BEAR puts his hands gently on the wheel [Camera exits JEEP and pans back, a tireskid is heard] SHOT 3 again: FELIX, BEAR (Interior Back JEEP, camera centred on FELIX in back) BEAR's shadow moves across FELIX's sleeping body DAYTIME [Light becomes warm, then cool again as the shadows of the scenery bounce over FELIX] FELIX sturs awake a few times, but shakes himself back to sleep BEAR can be heard breathing in the front A noise of metal is heard, before a thud as BEAR hits the loamy ground The backdoor at FELIX's feet opens and BEAR pushes the blanket to one side FELIX shivers slightly, the turns onto his stomache BEAR leans in to shake FELIX awake FELIX takes a few seconds to open his eyes, and BEAR starts to silently lift him out of the blankets BEAR looks slightly confused, then turns to the left to pick up FELIX's right arm, tossing it over his shoulder BEAR successfully lifts FELIX out of the car, which wakes FELIX after a small distance FELIX shakes himself awake and climbs out of BEAR's arms BEAR gives FELIX his arm, playing with it a little, teasing him SCENE 2, TOWN (LATE MORNING) SHOT 1: FELIX, BEAR, TOWNSFOLK, GIL, BRIE (Dolly Camera follows FELIX and BEAR as they walk through the town) FELIX struggles to reattach his right arm as he hurriedly tries to keep up with BEAR BEAR walks with purpose through the town Once FELIX gets his arm attached, he scurries to catch up to BEAR, who's 10 paces ahead of FELIX by now FELIX looks at BEAR inquisitively BEAR ignores FELIX FELIX doesn't seem concerned that his brother is ignoring him After a few seconds, FELIX acts shocked, becoming agitated BEAR takes notice of FELIX's worry FELIX points out that he forgot his hair accessories in the JEEP BEAR puts his hand on FELIX's back gently, pushing him away from the car FELIX stops dead in his tracks and looks up at BEAR with puppy dog eyes BEAR calmly tells FELIX that he doesn't need the accessories FELIX slumps a little, but keeps moving so as to not upset BEAR After a short moment, BEAR peps up, sighs, and power walks back to the JEEP, abandoning FELIX FELIX is alone in the middle of TOWN, TOWNSFOLK surrounding him [The Camera starts to move semi-erraticly, mimicking FELIX's panic] In the crowd, GIL and BRIE can be spotted, they wave to FELIX FELIX doesn't notice the pair for a second GIL walks up and confidently puts their hand on FELIX's back FELIX's hair jolts up and FELIX looks faint and dazed BRIE playfully smacks GIL's hand away from FELIX as she starts talking to FELIX, looking around concerned and curious BRIE puts her hands gently on FELIX's shoulders FELIX calms down a bit and, through tears, points over his shoulder toward the JEEP BRIE looks over FELIX's shoulder, pushing down on FELIX's shoulders, causing his right one to stoop down a little BRIE's pushing clearly doesn't hurt FELIX, since BRIE is experienced with handling FELIX's robotics from her time babysitting FELIX is wiping away snot and tears all the while GIL tries to join back in the conversation as BRIE is pulling them both away, waving goodbye to FELIX FELIX is noticeably less on-edge after this BEAR returns a few moments later, just missing BRIE and GIL, of which FELIX doesn't inform him BEAR hands FELIX his head accessories, and FELIX slots them in patiently FELIX hugs BEAR softly and nuzzles into his chest slightly more than is comfortable for BEAR BEAR looks embarrassed and laughingly shoos FELIX away SHOT 2: FELIX, BEAR, TOWNSFOLK, BRIE (briefly), GIL (briefly) (Wide Camera, angled slightly downward, though not angled enough to see the tops of rooves) As FELIX and BEAR reach the centre of TOWN, a small crowd of TOWNSFOLK forms FELIX pulls closer to BEAR huddling behind him, avoiding eye contact the whole time BEAR continues walking, unobstructed by FELIX and the crowd BRIE and GIL can be seen in the crowd, just out of view of BEAR and FELIX BRIE is pulling GIL through the crowd by the wrist, causing their wrist to go limp GIL is excited to follow her obediently, and would be even if he wasn't being dragged GIL is holding a bag of mechanical parts, and a separate bag of groceries, almost dropping both BEAR arrives outside of the TAVERN, FELIX following close behind The crowd seems to disperse as FELIX and BEAR enter the TAVERN [the Camera lingers a bit on the front of the TAVERN as the door slowly closes] The door handle jiggles lightly as it comes to a close SCENE 3, TAVERN (MIDDAY)
