You were content to do away with the criminals at first, they had deserved it.

With the famine, the kingdom slowly descended into chaos and the king into madness. You would come to see familiar faces in the noose. Those whom you passed by in the streets, who smiled at you and cared for their families.
Those who had done no harm. The guards would say they had done horrendous crimes, and that by executing them, you would only improve the world.
But you knew better.
It was to cull the weak, the sick, the poor, the ones [[no one wanted]].
Over many years, you began to notice something interesting.
You learned that if you used a specific rope, tampered in a delicate way, the victim would live. They would be unconscious, but alive.
The guards wouldn’t notice, they only watch and leave the dirty work to you.
Of course, this wasn’t cheap. Life never is.
You would need to use your own money. You knew that you couldn’t forget the financial needs of your family.
You could only use it when necessary so as not to raise suspicions.
And with that, you had a [[choice]].
Every day you make 150 gold per body.
It costs you 100 gold to save a person; you are not paid if you do.
You normally get three cases per day.
Your family needs 100 gold at the end of each day to survive.
If you save up enough gold, you may be able to escape this life.
