You come home on a day like any other. You make your way to the kitchen, and notice something out of place. A cupboard you have never seen stands next to the rest, as if it has always been there.
[[Don't open it|End]]
[[Open it|Beggining]]
[[KICK DOWN THE DOOR]]The hinges creak as you inspect the inside. The cupboard is empty, but you notice the back panel is worn and splintered. After prodding at it for a few moments, it budges slighly to the right. Sliding it the rest of the way reveals a long wooden passageway, a mere three feet high.
[[Crawl through|Tunnel]]
[[Leave|End2]]You decide not to open it.
The next time you turn back, it is gone.
You have to crouch low as you move, and spend a few tense minutes creeping through the darkness. The passageway slowly opens, and you are able to stand. You bump abruptly into a door. You feel compelled to explore.
[[Explore |Foyer]]
[[Run Away |End4]] You don't trust this passageway, so you close the panel and cabinet and go on with your day.
The next time you look, its gone.You find your foot has shattered not only the cupboard door, but lodged itself through the back panel. Inspecting the damage, you notice an empty space beyond the panel. Tearing off what remains reveals a long wooden passageway, a mere three feet high.
[[Crawl through|Tunnel]]
[[Leave|End3]]You don't trust this passageway, so you ignore the broken cabinet and go on with your day.
The next time you look, its gone.You are in a large foyer, a split staircase leading to a second floor.

The next time you look, the cupboard is gone.This door is locked, for now.
[[Return|Foyer]] Its an awkward angle, but you are able to jam your head through the portal. You find yourself in a land of cowboys and dragons.
<img src="assets/chronosCanyon.png" style="max-width:50%;">
You hear a voice say: "This was a group of four’s submission for a game jam. My role was everything relating to the boss stage: scripting, art, animation, and design. First I used Aesprite to draw the dragon’s keyframes. Then I scripted the stage: attack patterns, enemy spawns, etc. I imported the keyframes in and animated the dragon, linking its state machine to the frames. I also helped out with scripting other parts of the game, such as movement in and between levels, and revolver mechanics.
For me, this game was primarily a practice in teamwork and in finishing a full project. I worked with 3 others to create and execute a full mechanical and artistic vision, and I learned a ton, especially about version control/git and its many peculiarities. We failed an innumerable amount of times in a wide variety of ways, but the game is playable and on Itch."

[[Return|Kitchen]] Thankfully you do not get wet stepping through. you find yourself in the carefree land of the wise Toad King.
<img src="assets/toadKing.png" style="max-width:50%;">
You hear a voice say: "This was a solo project for class, a very short adventure. I drew the sprites and tiles, scripted the conditionals, and wrote the dialogue. I only had a few days to complete this game.
I didn’t have much time, so I decided on a short, whimsical, adventure. The constrained scope game me the opportunity to write conditionals for most game states, which lead to some fun dialogue that could be discovered."
(Toad King, 2025, Video Game)
[[Return|Conservatory]] You slide right through into the cozy atmosphere of a cafe full of animals. But you get the feeling something is not quite right...
<img src="assets/cafeMaze.png" style="max-width:50%;">
You hear a voice say: "This was a 3 person school project of two weeks. I designed the latter 3 levels, including the sprites, tiles, scripting, and writing. The engine we were using was somewhat “self contained”, which meant making the sprites and tiles was easy, but the scripting followed no proper language and had no functions, only simple conditionals, which made keeping track of states a nightmare.
We wanted to make what appears to be a cutesy cafe game, but slowly becomes clear that there is more to it as you play. There are lots of fun characters to interact with and puzzles to solve. We had to overcome some communication issues due to being fully online and strangers, but I’m proud of how it turned out."
(Cafe Maze, 2025, Video Game)
You recoil slightly as you step through, finding yourself in the zombie apocalypse.
<img src="assets/undeadOnslaught.png" style="max-width:50%;">
You hear a voice say: "This was a duo project with a good friend of mine. My role was art/music and design. I drew all of the sprites and tilesets using Piskel, backgrounds in Krita, and wrote the music in FL Studio. I also designed the mechanics, enemies and their movement and attack patterns, and player progression.
This was my first time working on a full game. We were primarily focused on making a game we found fun, and so we decided on a roguelike since we both love them. After each wave of zombies, you would pick a buff/debuff pair, which could end up with some really interesting builds. We also had to only use javaScript/html, so no proper engine, which made it harder in many aspects.

[[Return|Training Hall]] You duck under the table, and are immedietely transported to an ancient ruin.
<img src="assets/darcRuins.png" style="max-width:50%;">
You hear a voice say: "This was a solo “phyisical video game” I made in twine. I mapped out the Digital Arts Research Center at UCSC, and designed the choices you make to map onto the floor plan itself, so that the game should be played while walking in the physical space. I wrote the story and text which are triggered by conditionals depending on the game state.pre
The game was inspired by the Choose Your Own Adventure books, but turned out to be more of a puzzle game. It reimagines an ordinary space as a relic of old, to be explored and its secrets uncovered. I included many elements of the building into the options in game, so you need to be there to get the full experience. "

[[Return|Dining Room]] As soon as you step through, you have the overwhelming sensation you should not be here.

You hear a voice say: "This is a work in progress, and should be complete in about four months."
