Switch Your Flaws
A Card Game for 2 Players, by Snail Dream
Materials
- 1x Standard deck of playing cards
- 2x Pieces of paper and writing implements
Rules
- Deal:
- Remove the face cards from the deck, they will not be used.
- Split the deck by color. Give one player all the red cards and the other all the black cards.
- Each player shuffles their half of the deck and places it face down.
- Draw:
- Each player draws 5 cards and places them face-up in a row.
- These cards are referred to as being in "slots" A/B/C/D/E, from their owner's left-to-right.
- Choose:
- Each player secretly chooses one of their opponent's slots to TAKE from.
- Each player secretly chooses one of their own slots to PLAY from.
- These choices must be written down or otherwise fixed in a way that cannot later be altered.
- Take:
- The TAKE choices are revealed, and the cards in those slots swap places.
- Play:
- The PLAY choices are revealed, and the cards in those slots (after swapping) are compared.
- Whoever plays the higher-ranking card wins the round. Ace is ranked low, except against a 10.
- In the event of a tie, both cards are set aside in the POT.
- Otherwise, the winner collects both cards as well as any that had previously been added to the pot.
- The winning player gains points equal to the total rank of any cards of the opponent's color they collected (A=1).
- Cards of your own color earn zero points.
- Repeat:
- If cards still remain in the decks, each player draws a new card and places it face-up to refill the slot they played from.
- Play repeats from the "Choose" phase above.
- The game continues until players have no cards remaining in their decks and all but one slot is empty (19 rounds).
- End:
- The player with the highest number of points wins.
- In the case of a tie, the player whose remaining card is higher-ranked wins. Again, Ace is low except against a 10.
- If still tied, play again!
