Why does pure self draw anything? A point is inked when it never escapes: zoom in forever and it always lands in a filled cell. All nine self = nothing ever escapes = solid; leave holes and points fall out at every scale - that's the lace.
anti swaps filled ⇄ empty for everything beneath it - it is not a snapshot negative. A mark built only of selfs and antis has nothing to swap, so it saturates: undecided forever counts as ink, and the square locks solid.
