Check the captions.
Keep the story.

Review SRT structure, timing overlaps and readability flags. Export every issue in a CSV report, without changing your source subtitles.

Your subtitles stay on your device.

No account, file upload, payment or email required. No advertising trackers. itch.io serves this page under its own policies; subtitle contents are processed only in your browser.

Readability thresholds

These thresholds are review aids, not universal delivery standards. Reading speed excludes whitespace and markup, and counts Unicode code points. Adapt the thresholds to your audience and destination.

What this checker can and cannot tell you

It checks basic SRT numbering, comma timestamps, positive durations, empty captions, overlapping valid cues, cue ordering and readability flags. Blocks are separated by blank lines. Positioning extensions and VTT are outside this checker's scope. Invalid blocks stay in the report; they are not repaired or discarded from your source file.

It does not transcribe, translate, modify subtitles or decide whether captions match the audio. Play the subtitles with the video before delivery. Files with another encoding need to be saved as UTF-8 first. A clean report does not prove accessibility compliance or perfect subtitles.
