Drag on the range to aim, forward or back, and release to fire. With the keyboard: up and down arrows change the angle, left and right arrows change the power, Shift takes bigger steps, Enter or Space fires. In flight, Space sets off trigger cells. In a replay, Space pauses or plays and Escape goes back to the range. A driving enemy is already on its way while you aim: lead it.

The right-hand side is the front of the bullet. Columns count from the rear on the left, 1, to the front on the right, 23. Rows count from the top, 1 to 23; row 12 is the centre row, the axis the bullet flies along. Arrow keys move the cell cursor, with Shift for 4 cells. Space or Enter lays the chosen material on the cursor cell. The number row chooses a material: 1 Wood, 2 Paper and 3 Spark. E chooses Erase. The chosen brush’s key, pressed again, clears the brush. Control or Command Z undoes, with Shift redoes. M turns Mirror on or off: on, every stroke is copied top to bottom about the centre row. V changes the view (Shift V goes back): materials, or cells shaded by weight, strength, burning, push or production time; the cell cursor then reads out each cell's value too. With a pointer, drag to draw; two fingers, the mouse wheel, or the Zoom buttons zoom and pan.
V cycles the view. Painting works the same in every view.

First wave
Off by default. On, it changes the fight’s difficulty: what is left of enemies you kill or strand goes into your stockpile, and more of it for a wave you call early.
Drag on the battlefield to aim, forward or back along the line of the shot, and release to fire the selected ammo. A tap that does not become a drag sets off trigger cells. With the keyboard: up and down arrows change the angle, left and right arrows change the power, Shift takes bigger steps, Enter fires, Space sets off trigger cells, number keys choose ammo, and P or Escape pauses.
