You stand in the kitchen, the morning sun casts an orange glow as you fill your canteen in the sink. The sun is already out, you know that you should get going. Your wife sits on the couch across the room, as your daughter plays with some toys on the ground. [[Talk to daughter.]] [[Talk to wife.]] [[Look around house.]] [[Look out the window.]]You walk to the door and add your canteen to your bag. Your daughter follows you and turn and give her a big hug, you feel her hands grab onto your shirt. "I won't be long I promise," you tell her. As you both let go you see that your wife is now standing next to you, she puts and hand on your shoulder. "I know you can do this, but it was always difficult even when it was both of us" she reminds you. You embrace her, "Please don't worry too much, I will be careful and we need this, we can't go much longer with out power". You feel her nod her head. You rub her back and kiss her goodbye. Pulling back, you turn to your daughter and kiss her on the forehead. [[You pick up your bag, and head out the door. ]] As you approach the river bank, your horse seems to be nervous. The water seems shallow enough to cross, yet the current is pretty strong. You notice a fallen tree that rests on the opposite bank. [[Try to cross the river on your horse.]] [[Leave your horse and try to cross using the fallen tree. ]] Getting off your horse, you set down your supplies and make a small fire on the bank. You lean against a rock next the fire, comforted by its warmth. Your eyes slowly close as you fall asleep. [[You sleep for a while, until something startles you awake. ]] On your way up the mountain, you see a stream. [[stop at stream]] [[Stay on the trail. ]] It is now dusk and its beginning to be too dark to see the other side of the river. [[Continue in the dark. ]] [[Stop and sleep.]]You coax your horse forward as it steps into the water. You are noticing the strength of the current, when suddenly your horse loses it footing and you both go under. Now off of your hourse you frantically swim towards the other side of the river. [[Try to grab something. ]]You mount your horse and head down the faint path that leads to a river to the East. To the Northeast sits the mountains and just past that, the city. You hope that you be able to scavange some old solar panels from the buildings on the outskirts. [[Head to mountains.]] [[Head to river.]] [[You slowly make your way to the other side of the bank, using the branches to pull yourself forward. ]] Walking out onto the porch, you look out at the dusty path, some patches of grass still poke through the dirt. With your bag over your shoulder you walk to the one of thse patches of grass at the side of the house. There stands a dark grey horse, turning around you lift a leather saddle off of the porch railing and place it on his back. [[Once all of the equipment is on him and your supplies are secure, you are ready to leave.]]Finding a crack in the rocks you discover a cave. [[enter cave]] As you ride towards the mountain, the landscape feels so lonely. You haven't seen other people, other than your family, for 30 years. Ever since Earth was evacuated in 3000. There must be others out there, like minded people that couldn't leave thier home. You think about this, but it makes you feel melancholy. [[You think about the mountain instead. ]] You continue down the river, looking for a part of the river that would be safest to cross. Ahead, you can see a thin part of the river, though it will still be difficult to cross. [[Ride up to the river's bank. ]]As you ride towards the river, the landscape feels so lonely. Your horse is no where to be seen, you hope that he has made it away safely. One in front of you starts to approach crouched low to the ground. [[Grab supplies.]] You pat your horse and tell him to head home, he should be able to make his way back. You wade into the water slightly upstream, when suddenly you feel the pull of the current knock your legs out from under you. [[You are pulled past the branches of the tree, as you grab blindly in the dark. ]] You take a moment to catch your breadth, as you take off your bag and lay on the bank. looking up at the sky you realize that it is already dusk. [[admire view]] [[drink water]] [[feed horse]]You refill your canteen before you mount your horse and head back on the trail. You pass large rocks, some seem to have fallen or shifted since you were last here. [[The trail stops, there is a ledge above you.]]Laying on the bank, you awake to the sun on your face. It is noon. [[Get up and walk back up river.]] You look at your daughter as she plays with a wooden trainset near your feet. She looks up at you, "How long do you think it will take this time?" You take in a breadth, thinking, "A week, tops. I promise." She gives a faint frown and you lean down and pet her head "Don't worry I'll be back before you know it." The look in her eyes makes your stomach turn. [[back->You stand in the kitchen.]] [[You have all of your supplies, it's time to leave.]] Now closer to the bank, you blindly grab for the branches of the tree in the dark. You manage to grab onto one, as you look back around for your horse you can see very little in the darkness, but you know your horse is gone. You pull yourself across, grabbing onto the branches of the fallen tree. [[You pass out on the bank, exhausted.]] You look over to your wife, who is looking back at you. You know she is upset. You two would usually go togehter, but now that you have a child only one of you can leave. "Please be careful, and try not to roam around the city." her voice is heavy with worry. "Of course" you say with a nod. [[back->You stand in the kitchen.]] [[You have all of your supplies, it's time to leave.]] You are at the mercy of the current as you try to swim towards the opposite bank. [[You grab hold of a rock and pull yourself onto the bank.]] Pain and fear overwhelm you as you are ripped apart. This is the end.You turn away from the wolves and jump off the bank and into the water. Your jump puts you close to a fallen tree. You pull yourself across, grabbing onto the branches of the fallen tree. [[You pass out on the bank, exhausted.]] You have been taken downstream pretty far. [[You pass out on the bank, exhausted.]] You take out your knife and swing it in the direction of the beasts. One seems to flinch but the small knife doesn't add much of an advantage against five wolves. The one in front of you lunges forward. [[You can't react]] Now closer to the bank, you can see that some of the branches from the fallen tree are close enough for you to grab onto. You grab on now able to look around you. [[back->stop at stream]] [[continue on trail]]You take out an apple and feed it to your horse, he seems to be pleased. [[back->stop at stream]] [[continue on trail]]Looking around the room, the objects are quite eclectic. Scavanged antiques and furniture sit around the room. The house was built in the 2050's, but it still holds up pretty well and hasn't needed much work. You are quite proud of finding such a place. [[Set down your supplies and sleep.]] Opening it, you frantically check to see if there is anything you can use to pry the rock off or move your leg but it is hopeless.
