Adventure awaits! Where to? [[North]] [[South]] [[East]] [[West]] You head north. A spaceship blocks your path. Its entrance appears to be open. What will you do? [[Knock politely]] [[Go inside]] [[Eat it]] [[Run away->Adventure]] You fall in a deep, dark well. And you die. [[Start over->Adventure]] You encounter a Little Caesar's pizza. What will you do? [[Go inside->Enter Little Caesar's]] [[Turn around->Adventure]] You see nothing of interest. [[Write a song]] [[Write a poem]] [[Paint nothingness]] [[Turn around->Adventure]] You knock on the shell of the craft, just outside the entryway. There is no reply. [[Knock again]] [[Go inside]] A strange creature starts making noises that can only be interpretted as screaming. You're so startled, you fall backward onto your tush. You scramble to your feet and make a mad dash out of there. [[Head back->Adventure]] You eat the spaceship. It doesn't agree with you. [[Head back->Adventure]] A strange creature approaches. He's making some sounds that may or may not be a language. You decide to leave him alone. [[Head back->Adventure]] You step through the door expecting the aroma of Hot-N-Ready Pizza. To your surprise, you are on the moon. You start gasping for air when you realize to even further surprise that you can breathe just fine. Then you get bored and leave. [[Ho hum->Adventure]] You try really, really hard to write a song. You hum a bit, but it's rather tuneless. What now? [[Write a poem]] [[Paint nothingness]] [[Turn around->Adventure]] You write a haiku It's not very good at all What a waste of time What now? [[Write a song]] [[Paint nothingness]] [[Turn around->Adventure]] You happen to have a canvas and a tube of black paint. You make like Mick Jagger. You use all the paint, but most of the canvas is still white. *Sigh.* What now? [[Write a song]] [[Write a poem]] [[Turn around->Adventure]] Hi, I'm Benji. [[Hi.->Intro 2]] I always wanted to make a Twine game. [[Okay?->Intro 3]] Twine is cool, because it lets you make games: 1. Without knowing how to code 2. Without a major time investment [[Cool.->Intro 4]] But the problem was I didn’t have any ideas. And the *one* thing you *do* need in order to make a Twine game is a good idea. [[That *is* a problem.->Intro 5]] …Or so I thought. Then, one day I found myself in front of a computer with 15 minutes to spare. And a thought occurred to me: [[Mmhmm?->Intro 6]] *Having an idea* for a game is not a prerequisite for *making a game*. [[Huh.->Intro 7]] Over the next 15 minutes I made and played this game, and I think I proved that thought to be valid. (The jury is still out as to whether having an idea is a prerequisite for making a *good* game.) [[Interesting. Can I play the thing?->Intro 8]] I won’t delay you much longer, but there is one thing I’d ask of you once you’re done playing: If it inspires you to make an “idealess” game of you own, let me know! I’m on Twitter: @okaybenji [[Sure thing.->Intro 9]] Without further adieu… [[Finally!->Adventure]]
