The darkness shrouded me in it grasp, as if it desired to choke and extinguish me. Even though I felt as if the darkness would wash over me at any moment, I still felt a strong sense of determination or even hope for some reason. As my eyes scanned the darkness, the reason why I felt this way was revealed. The stars.
[[>>> | The stars]] ] $x[So enthralled by the light, I couldn’t bring myself to leave it’s warm, and solace grasp. I stood in place just simply gawking in awe at the enchanting light, looking up and down at the beauty that bathe me so. My soft hands, slowly made their way through the light, weaving through it like how a aquatic organic automaton, with ease and grace. While weaving my hands through the ivory glow, I gradually noticed that the light itself had its very own texture. It felt as if each light was formed from a large quantity of thin, translucent, glowing strands of light. My hands slowly close themselves around the bundles of strings that formed the light, letting the soft twine run through my fingers, as my hand slowly climbed up the pillar of light. My eyes slowly trailed the twine, like a detective following a paper trail, each little detail was engraved in my mind, the twine that I followed seemed to be perfect in every which way, as if Arachne herself weaved together the star’s light.
[[>>> | Stars are Gone]] ] $x[The stars that were etched into the fabric of umbra above, were numerous in quantity. Their sizes ranged from the smallest speck to a size that is akin to a tennis ball and the light that radiated off of their spatial bodies was a beauty in it’s own right. The light was a bright ivory, and pierced the endless void that harbored me, revealing how empty the world truly was. Even though the world was desolate, just gazing into the luminescent lights seemed to intoxicate me down to the core, soothing my once prior panicked state. As if the stars themselves felt the uneasiness of my mind and heart, singular stars began to glance or even shift my way, bringing their light with them, and as they came closer the more accurate their light shined on me. I soon became bathe in the star’s lights, the light itself was, may I say immaculate. The light seemed to dance around me, slowly moving away from me but always coming back quick enough not to leave me in the dark, quickly embracing me it’s luminous hold.
[[>>> | Stars Power]] ] $x[As my hands climbed higher, my gaze followed suit, until it stopped on the stars that hung high above, but something however was different. The stars that once stood out from the fabric, now were dimmed and less vivid than they were before, shifting my gaze outwards I slowly noticed that the lights far away were now more or less gone, as if their light was] $a[siphoned] $x[from them, they left only the emptiness of the void in their wake. One after another stars began to dissipate, and with each new missing star, the more I felt empty, the more I felt truly like the void that is slowly consuming the stars around me. However the star high above me, even as the umbra approached, didn’t waver, it felt as if it’s light shined brighter than all the other stars combined. The strings wrapped around me, enveloping me in a enchanting and impenetrable shield made of ivory strings.
[[>>> | They wait for me]] ] $x[The darkness seemed to claw at the light, weaving in between the cracks attempting to grasp at me. My heart began to race, while my breathing became uneven like the jagged peaks of mountain tops, but the darkness wasn’t the prime reason for this fact. What seemed to be hundreds of $a[deformed] figures stood in unison, watching and staring in my direction. Though the umbra masked most, the few I could observe in the meager seconds I was allowed to see - whenever the umbra tore at the wall of light - were simply made of a polished oak wood with changing or diverse appendages, with a look akin to a prominent wooden doll . Bulky, metallic-like strings wrapped around their faces and a variety of limbs. As my thoughts slowly returned to the idea of the sheer number of figures that surrounded me, a chill rattled throughout my body, and caused a particular question to emerge. Where did $a[they] come from?
[[>>> | They watch]] ] $x[As if the umbra itself saw the dread that radiated off of me, the strands of light began to dissipate, starting from the star that was now dull and gray. The strands would slowly become dull in color, turning to ivory, gray, and then $a[vanish] without a trace. As each one disappeared, the umbra simply took that one’s place and I started to become frantic. I backed myself into the brightest corner I could find, and as they continued to vanish, I began to contract my appendages. My fingers began to twitch as the shield that once enveloped me in it’s light had been reduced to a sparse amount of luminescent twine. $a[Desperate], I reached my hands up to the few that remain, and as I did so, they vanished, leaving me in the void I was left in before. My heart seemed to stopped, and I held my $a[breath], hoping that those watching me would have lost me in the impenetrable darkness that covered the world.
[[>>> | Darkness]] ] $x[Time ticked and move forward, every second that I remained in the dark was $a[petrifying]. It felt as if my skin had hardened like the scales of a reptile, and shook violently as if I had an illness. Suddenly I could hear something $a[breathe] in my ear from behind. I instinctively moved my head to the right and was greeted with a similar gesture. I used my palms to slowly back away from the breathing but when doing so, I was only given a cold and ridged surface. As if my intentions were laid out, my movements became constricted;the pressure seemed to stem from frigid and thick strands of what I could only assume to be made of metal. As I squirmed against the pressure, the strands tightened around me in a $a[symphony], causing me to gasp in pain. They wrapped themselves around my neck and legs, causing me to cough viciously, as they clamped down. Breathing became difficult; any kind of verbal gestures like whimpering became $a[impossible] to do. Trying to fight the strands, I began to move my right arm, attempting to at least release some of the pressure on my neck. My eyes began to water from the pain, a thick flow of $a[tears] raced down my face, my arm felt like it was going to snap. Straining my arm even more, I opened my mouth to $a[scream] as the pain and retaliation from the strands became intense.
[[>>> | Relief]] ] $x[Something akin to a mouse’s squeak erupted from me instead. My arm began to $a[shake], while my toes seemed to curl in accordance with the strands, they began $a[tearing] through my skin, as if it was tissue paper, they ripped through tiny chunks of skin, causing $a[incor] to slowly seep from my searing wounds. I couldn’t take the agonizing pain, I slowly began to retract my arm, I couldn’t anymore. My arms came to my sides as the strands tightened, covering my body. My throat started to become $a[crushed] by all the weight, while my head seem to bob back in forth. And as my eyes slowly reopened, I watched as the strings $a[covered] my face.
Their cold embrace, it became solace to me. Their strings became normality to me.
