Great Mouse Escape [[Start]] [[About]] [[Credit]] A game produced at APU by Chiara Grimaldi [[Go back->Start Here]] You are a young mouse who dreams of leaving your house to see the outside for the first time, however you know next to nothing of the world around you. [[Nick]] looks at you nervously, unsure if this is the right path for you to take. [[Go outside]] You notice a peculiar looking animal that is much larger than than you but with fur much softer than your own. With the nametag "[[Alice]]" gazes down at you with its green eyes. Nick looks at the creature in shock, whether from awe in size or scared disposition, you could not tell. [[Step Back]] [[Confront]] [[Check on Nick]]The only person you have in your life who has raised you, is your dear friend Nick. This scruffy brown Rat is someone whom you treat like a father figure. His old age makes him too unwell to travel the whole journey with you, however, he is able to share his knowledge with you. Nick, your father figure can send you off halfway on your quest to reach outside the front yard of this labyrinth-like prison filled with animals he has yet to encounter. [[Go back->Start]]A name given to the cat by the owners of the house. [[Go back->Go outside]]The cat goes away allowing you to proceed. You do not what to make of the cat, as it slinks off to another part of the house. Nick the rat seems to be relieved from this endevear as he finally takes a long breath out. You both deicde to proceed to the next part of the house. [[Go to Dining Room]] [[Go to Living Room]]Before Nick can stop you, you step forward to greet the cat named Alice. [[Proceed]]He silently motions to his pack which is conviently slung over his shoulder, which you have not noticed before. "You will need something from here to distract Alice, if you want to make it safely past here." Nick regards to you as silently as he can to not raise suspicion to the cat in front of the two of you. [[Take laser pointer]] [[Take sewing needle]]Alice lundges down for you and kills you in a swift death before you knew what happened. Nick could only look in dispair, as he was trying to warn you what was to come. [[Bad End->Start Here]]You take out the laser pointer, and somehow figure out how to turn it on. It flashes a beam that distracts the cat from its current prey. and follows the light to where you point far away. Sucessfully leading the cat away. [[Try to move forward]]You grab the sewing needle and brandish it as your only line of defense between you and your uncertainess of what will happen next. Alice looks at you warily her gaze less intense. You breath a sigh of relief, not knowing what to expect next. You find a plate of cheese on the table. Lucky you! Climb on up to receive your tasty snack. Before you decide what to do, Nick stops you and decides its a good time to tell you he cannot climb. His journey with you ends here, however he leaves with parting advice. "Be wary of the cat Alice, she will be back. I will be fine here, since I have traveled this area myself enough times." [[cheese break]] [[Decline cheese break]] [[Convince Nick]] Oh no! Upon reaching the Living Room, you and Nick realize there's multiple house cats lounging on the sofa. Each one turns their head towards you as soon as you soon enter the area. You are soon trapped. [[Slowly walk forward]]Alice notices and slighty turns her head. You notice the laser pointer start to flicker, it must be low on batteries. [[Run away]] [[Hide under shoe]] You start to run away and the laser pointer completely dies. Alice the cat loses interest from it immedietly and starts to chase you down as you and Nick run away. Nick is less agile then you are so he starts to fall behind. You look back with worry for your friend. [[Keep running]]The two of you hide under a pair of shoes. Just in time too, Alice can only pace the room in wonder as she gives up the chase. She seems to have completely lost the sight of you two after you hid under the shoes.Alice instead, seems to have moved locations to another place for the time being. You two are safe from danger yet again for the time being. [[Check Surroundings]]As you continue to run, you decide to make a decision. There's no way out of this and the cat may not take you both. You run past Nick to step in front of him, blocking the path between him and the cat. [[Proceed]] As you enjoy your tasty snack, albeit alone; you notice a window in the distance. Your stomach satisfied although feeling slighty saddened, you decide to continue your long journey once more. [[Go to Window]]You are disheartened by the revelation that Nick won't be continuing his journey with you. Nick has been there for you all this way, to go after this cheese break while he can't becuase of his age, seems wrong somehow. You decide to tell Nick that you will walk with him a bit more, to at least see him off as he returns back safely in the other direction. [[Go back to hallway]] You convince Nick to continue the journey, as he has made it this far, and he is your frined. You would like to finish this journey with him as he helped with the cat and so much along the way with the journey. Your convincing has won him over, so he decided to continue. Nick even knows different short cuts out of the house. He lets you pick whiever one to go through. [[The cat door]] [[Side door]]Finally! The world spread out before you, the world outside the fence is within your grasp. You peer outside the window and notice the steep drop to the ground, it's a long fall for a mouse. [[Try to climb down]] [[Look around]]Alice left! It is okay to leave and continue your journey without the danger of the house cat lurking for the time being. [[Go to Living Room]] You try to climb, it's impossible. There is no way you will be able to climb down from here, you will need to find another way. [[Look around]] Without a cheese break, and a new route to see each other off. You head on to another part of the house. [[Go to Living Room]] There is no way out! Nick turns to you and panicks, you now realize the true fear of leaving your house for the first time. This is why the outside is so dangerous. The cats creep closer as looking for their next meal. [[Confront]] [[Try to escape]]As all hope seems lost, a rooster crow is heard in the distance. It frightened the cats away as they took off running in the opposite direction. Saving both you and Nick from uncertain doom. [[Follow the sound]] [[Continue along the path ahead]]As you follow the sound, you find a rooster who is standing tall at the other side of the room. He must have walked in from the open door. His multicolor feathers and large talons are something you have not encountered before either. He seems to be the one who scared the cat away with his loud chirping though. [[Approach]] [[Leave alone]] As you continue your journey, Nick becomes tired from making it this into the journey across the house, as he is an old rat. He wants to go back home and rest, as the journy only becomes harder to cross from here. [[Convince Nick]] You notice a hose next to the side of the house that you can slide down from the window safely without getting hurt. [[Slide down]]Yikes! this is the door Alice uses to enter and exit. you are entering her territory again by walking near here. She finds you two immedietly by the cat door. [[Run!]]Success! The side door is always open. as you reach and see the world outisde for the first time and Nick alongside, the two of you decide to continue on journeying to see what's next in the open world. But you both feel satisfied together knowing the both of you were able to escape the house togetehr safely. And to see the beauty of the world. [[END->Start Here]] It's too late, you are both cat food before you realize it. Neither you or Nick can run away fast enough. [[Bad End2 ->Start Here]]Nice! you reach the outside, and are to continue on feeling satisfied for able to making it out of the house for the first. You are thankful for Nick for all the knowledge you have learned from him, but feel saddened that he did not continue this journey along with you. [[End->Start Here]] With extreme hesitation you both decide to approach the rooster. He slightly nods. On closer inspection, he has a nametag around his ankle that says [[Rei]]. He is in fact the rooster that saved them from certain doom. Not knowing what to do they awkawardly nod back and try be on their way, baffled by that experience. [[Continue on]]You ignore the sound because frankly, the noise scared you to begin with. You are honestly just glad to be alive right now. As you look up, you spot a window not too far away from you, and you decide to climb up. [[Go to Window]] The owners of the house own a pet rooster that mysteriously finds it's way inside the house all the time. This could be becuase they always seem to leave the doors open frequently. [[Go back->Approach]]The rooster decided to follow the journey all they way with you through it's completion as jounrneyed to the outside house. He trailed behind, to make sure Alice would not come back for her revenge and he also wanted his freedom alongside you. [[End->Start Here]] Aesop's Fable A very young mouse made his first trip out of the hole and into the world. He returned to tell his mother of the wonderful creatures he saw. "Oh, Mother," said the mouse, "I saw some curious animals. There was one beautiful animal with fluffy fur and a long winding tail. She made such a tender vibrating noise. I saw another animal, a terrible looking monster. He had raw meat on his head and on his chin that wiggled and shook as he walked. He spread out his sides and cried with such a powerful and frightening wail, that I scurried away in fear, without even talking to the kind beautiful animal. Mother Mouse smiled, "My dear, that horrible creature was a harmless bird, but that beautiful animal with the fluffy fur was a mouse-eating cat. You are lucky she did not have you for dinner."
