S turns the music on and off.

T brings up the treaty you signed. Read it.
From your main viewer, you can view all the planets in the sector. They are color coded by who has the rights to that planet.

Most of the planets have had some damage to their infrastructure.
Planets might be starving, surviving, living comfortably, or overproducing.
Planets that are at least comfortable will rebuild their infrastructure.
Every planet is capable of supporting itself once its industry is rebuilt.
Negotiation time between different species depends on the species.
You can communicate with a planet by single-clicking it.
You can travel to a planet by double-clicking it.
You can set up trade between a planet you are on and a planet you are communicating with by clicking on the "trade" button.

The grey marker shows where this planet would be if all trade ceased between these two planets. (It takes into account trade between other planets; it is not just self-production.) The black marker shows the effect of trade. You can drag it left or right to balance trade.
