Your name is Mirabel, the monarch of the Gem-Bugs, and today is the 10th anniversary of your arrival here and coronation, an event that signed your passage from normal orphan to ruler. You still fondly remember [[that day]] like it was yesterday... But now is not the time to think about the past. Now it's time to prepare yourself for the celebration. You must choose an outfit to wear, prepare a speech and check if the musicians have finished the new composition. And you need to do all of this before 12.00 AM. You're pretty sure that you'll manage to do all of that in a couple of hours at best, so you decide to remain in bed for five more minutes... [[NEXT|Next]]

You were playing all alone in the orphanage's garden when you saw a wonderful butterfly. You followed and tried to catch it and, once you did, you were teleported in this place. At first you were scared and confused, but then the bug called Benny McBeatle comforted you and offered you tea and cookies. He told you everything about the Land of the Gem-Bugs and offered to show you the most interesting places. During the tour you visited the abandoned palace where in the ancient past the rulers of the land lived and suddenly felt the need to find something important inside. You ran inside and, after losing yourself a few times in one of the many hallways, you found a butterfly mask in the throne room and, instinctively, you wore it. You became one with it, obtaining all its powers... and then passing out for a couple of hours. When you woke up you were in McBeatle's house, and many happy and excited bugs surrounded you. They all told you that you were wearing the Mask of the Monarch, a magical mask that could be worn only by those that are destined to become the rulers of the Gem-Bugs. That evening you got crowned and soon after a great celebration was made. The day after you hired Benny as your advisor, and he helped you rule over them for years. [[GO BACK|Chapter 1]]

Suddenly, Benny bursts into your room in an hurry and shouts: "Wake up! Mylady, wake up! You overslept! The celebration will begin soon!" You wake up an look at the clock: it's 11.30 AM. What will you do? [[Freak out]] [[Throw a pillow at Benny and reproach him for not having woke you up early.]]

You throw a pillow at Benny and shout at him: "WHY YOU DIDN'T WAKE ME UP EARLIER???" Benny, a little bit embarassed, tells you: "Well, I was going to wake you up earlier, but the chefs asked me to taste the food that they were making and so... It was all delicious by the way." You would like to reproach him for this, but instead you roll your eyes and get up from the bed. You have a lot of things to do. What will you do first? [[Choose a dress]] [[Make a speech]]

You freak out, wasting five more minutes. Then Benny grabs and shakes you until you snap out of it. You're now dizzy and a little bit angry at him for not waking you up earlier, but you now you don't have time to think about this. You have a lot of things to do. What will you do first? You rush towards your enormous wardrobe and start to search or something to wear, a daunting task considering that you have hundreds of and hundreds ridicously fancy outfits, each one for a different occasion. You take out of it a few of them and try them, but you don't think any of them are suited for such an important celebration, so you put them back and take some others to try. You do this 2-3 more times until you realize that you have been wasting too much time and decide to wear a pink and white dress decorated with many precious gemstones. Now that you're wearing the dress for the celebration, all you need to do is make a speech and check the musicians. [[Make a speech|Make the speech 2]]

You rush towards your writing desk and try to write something meaningful that your subjects will love, but unfortunately the stress and lack of time makes you unable to come up with anything meaningful. Seeing that you're having some troubles, Benny asks you: "Do you want me to write it?" Usually you would politely refuse, but since you have no time left you simply tell him: "Yes." As soon as you say that, Benny grabs two pencils with his primary hands and lots of paper sheets with his secondary ones and starts to write it. Now that he's writing the speech, all you need to do is choose a dress and check the musicians. [[Choose a dress|Get dressed 2]]

You open the huge window in your room and go to the balcony. Once outside, you take a look at the beautiful land that you rule: a magical place with magnificent flowers as tall as skyscrapers whose petals shine like precious gemstones and buildings painted with all the colors of the rainbow. Then you close your eyes and start to concentrate. It took you a long time to learn how to summon your wings, and even more time to learn to fly. But in the end it was worth it. You begin to flap your wings and soon you're flying towards the music hall, wondering how the composition will be. Once you arrive however, you see the musicians outside trying to block the door with some planks of wood. [[Land and ask them what's happening]]

You land near them and ask: "Could you please tell me why you're blocking the door?" The musicians realize your presence and freak out a little bit, with a quartz cricket accidentally throwing a plank of wood on a ruby ladybug. "Mylady! Why you're here?" Exclaimed the director, an emerald mantis. "Well, I wanted to check if you have finished the new..." You said before being interrupted by the director. "Ah yes! The composition! I'm sorry to tell you this, mylady, but we weren't able to complete it... A crack appeared while we were working on the third movement and we had to leave!" Said the director. "So you decided to run outside and lock the place just because a crack appeared on a wall?" You tell him with a slightly angry tone. "Actually... the crack wasn't on a wall. It was in mid-air." You are slightly confused. You're pretty sure that the Director just told you that the crack that forced them to leave appeared in mid-air which, you're pretty sure, is impossible. You're also the queen of an human-like society of bugs made of gemstones and wear 24/7 a butterfly mask that granted you magical powers, so you're going to give him the benefit of the doubt trust him. //POW ???// It's a wonderful autumn day in the Endless Forest. The sun is shining up in the sky and orange leaves are falling from the trees. You're thinking to go in search of mushrooms once you've finished collecting wood for the winter. You take your trusty axe, your wheelbarrow and your canteen before leaving your cabin. While you're walking you start to whistle an happy song, completely obvious of what will happen to you today. [[*END OF CHAPTER 1*|Chapter 2 Part 1]]

"Can you unblock the door so I can get inside and look at that crack?" You ask at the director, who looks at you shocked. "NO! I-I mean... I don't think that it will be a good idea." He says. "I jusr want to look at it!" "I'm sorry, but for your and our safety I have to say no." "I'm your monarch! You have to obey me! If I tell you that I want you to..." "I'm sorry... but I can't." "Fine!" You say angry at the director. "If you don't want to unblock that door and let me enter, then I'll do it myself!" [[Kick the door open]]

In what looked like a mix between a morgue and a laboratory, a mysterious figure is sewing together a grotesque creature. He made lots of them in the past, all of them looking the same, but recently he had began to alter their design them due to a rather annoying troublemaker that kept attacking them. This time, however, he was sure that it would not only be able to destroy another world, but also kill her. When he finished sewing it, he took a white on with crying eye painted on the right side and a gray stain on the left side and put it on the monster's "face", causing it to twitch uncontrollabily before getting up. "Happy birthday, my dear Marionette..." He said softly at the monster.

That would be a good idea, if the door wasn't made of bronze. You'll probably break a leg if you tried to kick it. There is however a skylight on top of the music hall. [[Break into the music hall via the skylight]]

You fly on top of the music hall and then you smash the skylight with a dropkick, allowing you to break into the building. All you need to do now is to fall with style and land gracefully on the... You see the crack and you realize that it's not a simple crack: it's what can be described as a gateway to hell, a doorway to doom, a portal to death... and you're falling into it. [[DODGE!]]

You flap your wings and manage to not land into the crack. Instead you fall on a pile of musical instruments that the musicians left behind when they ran away. You get up in pain from the pile and give a glance at the crack, but soon you look away from it because it filled you with dread. Right now all you want to do is leave this place, go back into your palace, wash your eyes, try to forget what you saw and then ask your builders to build a dome around the music hall and pretend it never existed. Unfortunately, before you could do that, a noise that resembled a deep growl came out of the crack, followed by an arm that ends with an huge claw. [[Uh oh]]

You hide in the pile of musical instruments just before a giant monster comes out of the crack. It has a pear-shaped body, with a ridicously swolled stomach and a very long neck, short, skinny legs that don't look like they could be able to support its weight and incredibly long arms. It has a claw as big as you in place of its right arm and a left hand with really long fingers. Its face is covered with a white mask on which a crying eye is painted on the right side, while a gray stain covers the left one. The creature looks around in search of something, and then it stops when it sees the pile of musical instruments in which you're hidden. [[PANIC]] [[DON'T PANIC]]

Calm down! It's not time to panic! Especially now that the creature is very close and could find you... Never mind. It found you. [[PANIC!!!]]

You struggle to not panic and reveal your presence to the monster. When it gets closer to the pile where you're hiding, you accidentally make a small scream, revealing your position at it. [[PANIC!!!]]

You scream as the monster prepares to hit you with its giant claw. But before it could it you, a girl wearing an armor and a demon mask jumps out of the crack and punches it so hard that it flies into a wall, demolishing it. You want to thank her for saving your life, but she runs outside in order to continue her fight with the monster before you can do that. Soon after Benny and the director arrive to help you get up from the ground. "Mylady! Are you okay?" Benny asks at you. "I almost got killed by a giant monster... How do you think I am?" You tell him. "Shall I send some soldiers to fight against that thing?" He asks slightly embarassed. "Yes." You say before walking away. "Where are you going?" The director asks you. "I'm going to make my subjects evacuate the capital. I don't want them to get hurt." You say. "Then let me and my musicians help you." He says. [[Accept his offer]]

"Fine. You and your musicians will go in the central plaza and help those that are here for the celebration leave it in safety." "Consider it done!" He says while running outside to his musicians. You fly away from what remains of the music hall and start to follow the trail of destruction left by the monster in search of bugs to help. [[Search for bugs to help]]

You have been flying in search of bugs trapped inside the many destroyed buildings for five minutes when you hear someone screaming for help in a collapsed house. Once you land you struggle to individuate where the bug might be under the rubble when suddenly every single piece of rubble is lifed by some shadowy hands coming from the ground. Soon after, you see the girl with the demon mask creating them to fight against the monster. You're very happy that she decided to help you, but you decide to wait for later to thank her. Right now you have a bug to save. You check every hand until you find a poor old moonstone moth with a broken arm being held by some of them and you run to get her. And then all the hands throw what they're holding at the monster. Including the old lady. [[CATCH HER!!!]]

You fly as fast as you can to catch the old lady and you succed just before she could splat on the monster. You leave her in a safe place and decide to go to ask at the girl why she did that. Once you're close enough to her (but not too close to the battle) you shout: "HEY! WHY DID YOU THREW AN OLD LADY AT THAT MONSTER?" Unfortunately, not only she's too busy fighting the monster to listen to you, but she also proceeds to throw more bugs at the monster. You manage to grab a couple of them, but you fail to grab the others. Luckily, some amber wasps soldiers catch them and take them to a safer place. You leave the ones you saved with them and then you speak with their commander. "Mylady! We have been sent here to help the girl fight the monster just as you asked! Although we're not sure that's a good idea helping her..." Says the commander. "Yeah. I think so... How she can throw my subjects at that thing?" You say outraged. "Actually, she's not only throwing bugs at them. Have you seen the trail of destruction? She made most of it." She says. "What?" You ask confused. "She has been using weird and powerful shadow attacks in order to defeat that monster, but it dodged most of them. If it wasn't for the fact that it tried to kill you I would say that we should team up with the monster." She says. "Alright. Thanks for the explanation. Now split your bugs into two teams: one will go fight the monster and one will come with me to stop the girl." "Alright. Troops, let's split!" As she goes to fight the monster alongside half of her troops, you fly alongside the other half to stop that girl. [[FIGHT!]]

You and the soldiers find the girl trying without success to stop the monster by throwing buildings at it. You tell your soldiers to restrain her just before she could throw a kindergarten at it. Soon, they swarm around and manage to grab her, only for a bunch of shadow hands to grab them and launching them towards the nearest buildings. Soon they get up and try again to stop her, attacking her with their spears and their stingers. Eventually, she gets fed up of them and uses her powers to give them a beatdown, making them collapse for the pain. Angry for what she did to your soldiers, you try to punch her in the face, but she dodges the attack and grabs you with her shadow hands. Unfortunately for her, she has not immobilized your wings, allowing you to use your powerful, but dangerous, secret power: the parallizing dust. You start to flap you wings as much as you can, slowly releasing a magical dust that paralyzes everyone who inhales it. Slowly, the girl begins to move with some difficulty, but this also happens to you. Nevertheless, you keep flapping your wings, releasing more and more dust, hoping that she wouldn't be able to use her powers while paralyzed. Unfortunately, she realizes what you're doing and uses, with some difficulty, her powers to damage your wings before throwing you on the ground. While you're laying down in pain, you see her going away in search of the monster. [[Get up]]

You're the commander of the Amber Wasps soldiers. You have loyally served your monarch for years and you will sacrifice yourself for her. Today, you will.

You struggle to get up from the ground due to the effects of the dust, but eventually you manage to stand on your feet. You try to "walk" towards the girl, but you soon realize that's basically impossible considering your situation. Nonetheless, you keep trying to follow her. Suddenly, you hear a familiar buzz, followed by an even more familiar voice: "Mylady!" "Benny? is that you? Why you're here?" "I came here as soon as I heard from the only survivor of the group that fought the beast that you were going to fight the girl. Are you okay? Did she hurt you?" "She... Wait, only survivor?" "The group that fought the beast got wiped out, mylady. Only one soldier survived. I sent the remaining troops to prevent it from reaching the palace..." "The palace? Why it's going towards the... Nevermind. We must stop both of them before they could make more..." Suddenly, a pillar of light rises from the ground, cutting in half the palace, soon followed by a giant explosion. Your palace has been destroyed. [[NO!!!]]

You stare horrified at what remains of the palace. The place that was your home for for years was now gone. All the soldiers that tried to defend it sacrificed their life for nothing. You feel your blood boil with anger. It's time for you to make them pay. [[BEAT THEM UP.]]

You summon a new pair of wings and fly as fast as you can to what remains of your palace, when suddenly an earthquake begins and what looks like a giant sinkhole opens up and swallow your castle. When you get close to it you find out that the sinkhole is actually a vortex that is quickly expanding, absorbing and destroying everything in its way. You see that the girl is desperately trying to escape from it and you impulsively decide to tackle her into it at high speed while screaming "GO TO HELL!" You then realize that you will fall into the vortex too, and to make the situation worse, you can't fly fast enough to escape from it. You scream in terror while the girl shouts at you various insults and wraps herself in shadows. [[>>>]]

Unexpectedly, you hear a familiar voice. "MIRABEL!" You look up and see Benny trying to save you. He goes as fast as he can and grabs your hand, but when he tries to escape from the vortex he fails to do so due to its suction. He keeps trying and trying but he fails to escape and rescue you. In a last attempt to save you, he wraps around you to protect you. "Goodbye, Mirabel. It has been an honor serving you." He whispers at you. You want to tell him to not sacrifice himself to save you and escape, but you fail to say anything. Suddenly, you and Benny are surrounded by a strange light and you feel like you're burning alive. Shorty after the burning sensation ends and you feel like you're being pierced by thousands of needles. The last thing you see before passing out are million of shining lights. [[>>>|Chapter 2]]

You shouldn't be here... Yet. You're still here? Go back! I see that you don't understand the concept of "going back." Look, you want to stay here? Fine! Stay here! I'm too busy to care... [[=)]]

You quickly find another tree and proceed to cut it down and load the logs in the wheelbarrow, but it runs out of space before you can load half of them. You decide to go back home and unload it before coming back and take the rest. While you're travelling back home something falls from the crack in the sky and falls in the lake. Some otter foxes see this and, intrigued, decide to swim towards it and carry it out from the lake. Once they do they realize that the thing that fell from the sky is some sort of giant dead bug. Suddenly, the bug started to twitch, scaring the otter foxes and causing them to run in search of the only one that could help them: the boy that acted as the guardian of the forest. [[Collect the remaining logs]]

//POW ???// You walk for a while in search of a good tree to cut down, and after a while you find one that might. You decide to check it in case some animals lived on it and soon you find that a family of winged squirrels decided to make it their home. You apologize for having disturbed them and go back in search of a uninhabited tree. Eventually, you find one and proceed to chop it down. It takes you a while to cut it into logs, but in the end you've got a good amount of them, but not enough to last for the entire winter. You put all the logs in the wheelbarrow and go in search of another tree to chop down. Meanwhile, a crack opens in the middle of the sky. [[Find another tree to cut down]]

After leaving the collected logs back home, you go back to recover the rest. While you're walking back you stumble upon a group of scared otter foxes, which is strange since they live near the water. "Guardian of the forest! Guardian of the forest! A big bug fell from the sky! It fell from the sky in the lake! We took it out from the lake because we were curious but it started to twitch! We ran from the lake to ask you for help! Help us guardian of the forest!" Said frantically one of the otter foxes. "Could you please say that again a little bit more slower? I didn't understand what you said." You tell them. "Apologies, guardian of the forest. A big bug fell from the sky in the lake. We took it out from the lake before it could sink, but when we took it out it began to twitch! We got scared and decided to search you to ask you for help! Help us guardian of the forest!" said the otter fox. "... Well, I still have to collect enough wood for the winter... but I think that I can help you." You tell them. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much guardian of the forest! Follow us to the lake, guardian of the forest!" They say together while running towards the lake. You try to follow them, but they're too fast and outrun you. "Hey! Slow down!" You shout at the otter foxes, but they ignore you. [[Reach the lake]]

You reach the lake a few minutes after the otter foxes, who are anxiously waiting for you. "You're late! You're late guardian of the forest!" Shouts one of them. You'd like to tell them that you struggled to follow them since they ran faster than you, but there is something more important that you need to do right now. You walk towards the giant bug and give it a look. Most of its body is burned and falling apart, and it looks like it wrapped itself around something in order to protect it. You doubt that the bug is still alive, but whatever it tried to protect might still be due to some muffled "Help!" you hear. You decide to open it, but how? [[Use your axe]] [[Open it with your bare hands]]

You try to cut the bug open with your axe, but you soon realize that's impossible: the exoskeleton is made of a material that's very resistant and you're worried that if you keep trying to cut it your axe will break. You start thinking about an alternative. [[Open it with your bare hands]]

You're not strong enough to open it with your bare hands. However, you night know who can open it. You go in search of a bearver and eventually you find a male one busy eating some fish. "Excuse me, could you please help me?" You ask him. "GO AWAY. BUSY EATING." He answers you while chewing a mouthful of fish. "But I'm in dire need for help!" "DON'T CARE. LEAVE" "But..." "SHUT UP." You think for a way to get his help, then you have an idea. "What if I give you some mushrooms in exchange of your help?" You ask him. The bearver remains silent for a while, then it says: "ALRIGHT. WHAT SHOULD DO?" "I need you to open a giant bug." "WHAT?" "I said..." "I UNDERSTOOD. YOU WANT OPEN GIANT BUG. NO GIANT BUG EXIST IN FOREST." "That's because it fell from the sky!" "WHAT?" "Look, can you follow me?" "...YES." [[Take the bearver to the giant bug]]

You take the bearver to the giant bug, who stares puzzled at it. "UH. GIANT BUG REAL. STRANGE." He says before touching it with one of his paws. "Can he open it? Can the bearver open the bug?" Asked one of the otter foxes. The bearver didn't say anything, instead he grabbed the bug and tore it apart in a matter of seconds, impressing you and the otter foxes. You rush to look inside the remains of the bug, ignoring the bearver's request of the mushrooms that you promised him, and you soon see a barely conscious human girl laying between them. The girl has blond hair and wears a fancy pink and white dress decorated with many precious gemstones and a butterfly mask. "Where... Who..." She muttered before fainting. [[...]]

//POW Mirabel// You are walking in a foggy meadow when you stumble upon a fancy pavilion, under which four silhouettes are having a tea party. They're chatting with each other when they realize your presence and stare at you silently. "Uhm... Hello?" You tell them. They keep staring at you silently for a minute, then they rush towards you. You start to run in the opposite direction, but soon you trip and fall on the ground. You try to get up and run again, but they reach you. Then, you wake up. The first thing you see when you open your eyes is an human boy that wears a wooden wolf mask staring at you. "Uh... I didn't expect you to wake up so soon..." He says. You again? I tould you last time that there isn't nothing here yet. Heck, the button you clicked to get here clearly said TO BE CONTINUED. GO BACK! Oh, who am I kidding. You probably think that there is an =) hidden down here just like last time, am I right? Well, guess what? THERE ISN'T! Now please leave, I'm busy... "Boss, who are you talking with?" Said a boy dressed as a circus ringmaster with a metallic arm covered with strange glowing symbols. Sorry Cirque, I'm currently busy talking with a reader that is trying to not make me work on my... "A what?" Asks the boy confused. Ugh... Nevermind. Tell me, is Archane done with her mission? "Yep! She took the material he requested!" Good. Very good. Cirque? "Yes sir?" Go to the storage room and check if she stored the materials correctly. "Yes sir!" Exclaimed the boy before running away from the room. Good. Now that we're alone, please leave. We won't be important to the plot until much, MUCH later. Soooo..... GOODBYE!
