I would have thought all that time you spent spying on us would have given you a little more insight into the Maquis, but after looking over what you've already written, I can see that you need a little help, so I've created this representation of myself to guide you through the rest of the program." "Um, what? Is Tom playing a practical joke on me?" "No, I finished writing the tactical simulation and added a few revisions of my own: the holodeck is now sealed. Your friends will find it very difficult to get you out of here. And the safety protocols are off, which means that if I shoot you &mdash; and I am going to shoot you &mdash; you'll die. But not just yet." She lowers the force field and waves the phaser rifle under your nose. "You've got ten seconds to run. 9...8...7..." (display: "seskaOptions")Nothing happens. You try again, "Computer, shut down holodeck two, authorization Tuvok 4774." Again, nothing. Seska looks bored. "I told you, Tuvok, the holodesk is entirely under my control. I would run while you still can, if I were you". [[You'll have to try something else.|seskaOptions]]Seska just shakes her head. "Obviously, I would have thought of that. Transporters are off line." "Even the ones in the shuttles?" you ask. "Hmm." Seska scratches her chin. "Hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the suggestion. Now they are." "Crap." "Tick, Tick, Tuvok. Better get a move on." [[Good try, but no cigar.|seskaOptions]]"I can see you are not taking this seriously," complains Seska. She adjust the phaser to its "minor arm injury" setting and shoots you. You double over in pain, suddenly aware that she means business. [[Shit just got real.|seskaOptions]]The brig doors swish shut behind you, cutting off the sound of Seska's count down. You flee for your life down one of Voyager's nondescript halls at a full prancing trot. You realize you have now jumped back into the portion of the story that she has modified. She startles and stares into the empty cell, looking from side to side and then turns off the brig force field. "Tuvok?" she cries. "Where did you go?" She takes her phaser rifle off safety. [[Flee.|flee]] [[Explain the situation to Seska.|splain]] [[Push Seska into the brig and trap her.|phasered]] you feel the intense heat of open flames, which dance just centimeters in front of you, licking the ceiling of the galley. From your vantage point behind Neelix's hobo trash fire, you can see several of the Maquis crew gathered around a table. They are passing around a bottle &mdash; you're not sure what it is, but it is green. The murderous space cat SnarfSnarf waits on them, passing out beer nuts and pretzels. For the moment they are distracted. [[Flee|flee]] [[Attack them with a frying pan.|pan]] [[Push over the trash barrels as a distraction|barrel]]are face to face with Michael Jonas in Engineering. "Tuvok?" he asks in suprise. "Oh. Hi Michael. No, I'm actually Harry." Engineering Assistant Jonas taps his comm badge, "Tuvok is in Engineering, upper warp pylon deck." Jonas takes a swing at you with a plasma injector and you instinctively back up towards the throbbing warp core. You realize that your feet are already in the black and yellow striped "NO STEP" area and your hair stands slightly on end from the electrostatic charge. (display: "deathMessage")Ah, to trap the trap queen. You sneak up behind her and give her a push into the brig. She tucks into a roll, spins around and from a kneeling position picks you off with her phaser rifle. (display: "deathMessage")You open the cupboard over the sink and a stack of cast iron skillets avalanche out, conking you on the head one after the other and clattering to the floor with an enormous racket. "Carlson to Seska, Tuvok is here, in the galley." A series of poorly aimed phaser blasts strafe the kitchen. None of them land near you, but one of them catches the propane tank behind the cooking station. Emergency force fields snap into place to cover the hull breach. At least you took some of them with you. (display: "deathMessage")You push over the burning trash barrels, which hit the metal floor with a deep ringing note. All heads turn to you. Having just discarded the only cover between you and the armed Maquis, the Maquis make short work of you with their phaser rifles. (display: "deathMessage")You flex your knees in a defensive crouch and rotate slightly sideways. Jonas is armed with a plasma injector, one end still glowing red hot. You best bet is try to grab the base of the injector when he swings it at you, pivot, and then leverage your assailant's moment to flip him forward over your hip and then down the shaft to a fiery death. It's the sort of thing even Neelix could do. But apparently, not you. Jonas brands you like a cattle with the red hot neutronium poker and you are heard screaming from as far as away as the shuttle bay. You make a swipe at his arm, but Jonas grabs you by the nape of your neck and slams your forehead right into the imprudently low safety railing next to the plasma shaft. Your life passes before your eyes: conception, implanatation, early gestation... no, that is going to take too long, and Jonas is not in the mood to hear it. He pitches you ass over elbows into the shaft and the warp plasma stream does the rest. (display: "deathMessage")You point to the "This workplace accident free since stardate" sign next to the tachyon multiplexor assembly. "It's been a week Jonas. Do you really want to ruin a streak like that?" Jonas is in no mood. He unclips the phaser from his hip (&mdash; how did you miss that? Is everyone just casually toting around a phaser these days?) and sends a beam into the space where you were just standing. "Missed me, Jonas, you traitorous bastard!" However, the damage is done. Blue lightning dances around the plasma impellors and spreads towards the warp core, which throbs faster and faster. You lunge towards the ladder down the Main Engineering with the intention of ejecting the core, but Jonas grabs you by your ankle. The core goes critical and with that, Voyager is no more. (display: "deathMessage")Everyone knows how trivial it is to hijack Federation shuttles and that's clearly your best bet. You take the jeffries tubes to the hangar deck and crack the access hatch open to make sure the coast is clear. No one. The hatches on shuttle five are open and it is fueled and ready to go, but you will have to make a beeline across the deck with no cover to reach the shuttle. You run full out, zigzagging and occasionally diving to the ground and rolling on your shoulder, just like you saw in all the academy training videos. As you slip inside the shuttle, you catch sight of Seska standing in the shuttle control room, which overlooks the entire hangar deck. Oddly, she does not seem upset. In fact, she is waving goodbye. You bypass the preflight checks and gun the thrusters. Before you can bring down the shuttle bay forcefield, it winks out &mdash; you realize Seska must have brought it down herself. You crank up the warp engines and Voyager disappears behind you. Secure in your escape, you plot a course to an M-class planet in the opposite direction. [[One week later.]]You approach the doors to the astrometrics lab. You've never actually been in the astrometrics lab, but it seems like the last place Seska would think of looking for you. You approach the freshly painted doors and [[step in]]."Ensign's log, supplemental. About one week since I escaped Voyager and crashed on this moon." "Power levels minimal, radiation levels beyond lethal, oxygen reserve all but depleted." "Still not sure what happened, but it did occur to me that we have never actually succeeded in landing one of our shuttlecraft on a planet without crashing." (display: "deathMessage")...and are immediately sucked into the void of space. You realize only too late that Seven-Of-Nine doesn't come on the show until the next episode: the astrometrics lab has no reason to exist yet. There are clear signs that there's a plan to add the lab. Someone has nailed up a wooden framework for the bluescreen, but that isn't going to help you as you drift away from the ship. You briefly register hope when you sight the Deep Space Nine lot some distance away, but you succumb to the cold of space before you get there, an icy cadaver, just like this universe's real Harry Kim. (display: "deathMessage")You are manning the bridge security station when the shuttle is detected. There's some banter between Chakotay and Janeway, which you more or less ignore since the security console is kind of busy with readouts and controls. You do catch the last thing Chakotay said, though: "Ensign, target the shuttle and destroy it." [[Fire phasers.|shuttleBoom]] [[Fire photon torpedos.|shuttleBoom]] [[Refuse to comply. Instead, shoot Chakotay.|shootBridgeCrew]](display: "OTWtoRoundUp")Kes's cabin. Seska takes point at the corridor junction and you open the door with a security code. "What's this about?" "Come with me," you order. "Why are we being treated like prisoners?" "Because you are prisoners, duh." You motion with your phaser rifle for her to exit her quarters. And thus you learn what it is like to have your brain boiled from the inside by an angry space elf with psychotic tendancies. And to think, just last week she was your mother-in-law. "Kes, it's me, Harry!" But she's way beyond rational now. You picked a bad day to mess with her: she was already ticked off about having so few lines in this episode and knowing that she was getting the boot at the end of the season. Maddened with rage, she pictures a volcano going off inside your head. (display: "emptyHolodeck")(display: "OTWtoRoundUp")Lon Suder's quarters. Seska continues down the corridor, "You get that one, I'll be over here." You walk boldly into the dimly lit quarters. "Lon? Are you here?" No reply. Gradually you eyes adapt to the dark and the heads on pikes come into focus. You are struck from behind by a blunt object. (display: "emptyHolodeck")(display: "OTWtoRoundUp")Ensign Wildman's quarters. You enter without the least apprehension because you know that Ensign Wildman went down in hand-to-hand combat in the port torpedo bay a couple hours ago, leaving her newborn baby undefended in her quarters. Well, orders are orders. You commandeer the stroller and push the baby to Cargo Bay one for indoctrination. When you arrive, Maquis guards surround the stroller and push it up against the wall with the other prisoners. With the Federation crew locked down, those loyal to the Maquis throw one hell of a party in the mess hall. This is followed in short order by a montage of activies related to restoring ship systems, many of which were sabotaged by your former comrades before they were captured. In fact, everything is going along swimmingly until the ship is rocked by phaser blasts from Janeway's [[shuttle|ShuttleEncounter]].You set off to round up the crew and Seska joins you. "You did a good job today." A rare complement from Seska. "Thank you." "Just be sure to keep it up." "What's that supposed to mean?" "It means I'm not as easy to win over as Chakotay." You arrive outside the door to Chakotay takes the lead storming into the brig. You arrive on his heels just in time to see him confront the Captain. "Get away from that panel," he orders. In reply, the Captain shoots Chakotay with her phaser, striking his shoulder. Chakotay is still able to return fire, however, and you hear the Captain go down with a scream. But you are also aware of the door to the brig swishing open behind you. When you turn around to look, Tom Paris has a phaser leveled at you. "Drop it!" he says, gesturing towards your weapon. Abruptly, he [[fades away|endFirstPart]]. <div class="death">YOU HAVE DIED</div> [[Play again|The Pay Off]] (set: $resources to 100)(set: $recursion to 0)(set: $replay to false)(set: $furry to false)"Fine, say Seska."
