There is a small [[mailbox]] here. Opening the small mailbox reveals a [[leaflet]].The leaflet reads: "WELCOME TO THE LEVEL DESIGN MASTERCLASS TWINE DEMO! This demo shows you how you can use TWINE to create prototypes full of adventure, danger, and low cunning! In it you will explore how simple tools can prototype even the most amazing and complex game concepts conceived by mortals! No level designer should be without one!" You fold up the leaflet and return to [[West of House->Start]]. (if: $crowbar is 0)[ Securely fastened boards cover the doors. You can probably remove them if you can find something to pry them off. You see some woods to the [[east]] and a truck parked to the [[south]] You can also go back to [[west of house->Start]]. ] (else:)[ You think you can use your crowbar to [[remove the boards ->Inside of House]] ] It's dark inside but suddenly the lights turn on... SURPRISE! It's your family, standing around a big birthday cake. The aliens you shot come through the back and take their heads off. It's your friends! "We sent them out to distract you while we got the party set up! Boy, did you sure look scared!" You wonder when your mom invented laser guns and magic space marine armor... THE ENDThe forest doesn't seem to have a path, so you trudge through the thick brush. You see a clearing ahead, where 3 unfriendly-looking space aliens are guarding what looks like a cargo box. (if: $raygun is 0)[ You think about running for the cargo box but think better of it. You decide to return to the [[white house]] to regroup. ] (elseif: $ammo is 0)[ (if: $aliens is 0)[ You walk up to the box and open it. It's the crowbar! You head back to the [[white house]] (set: $crowbar to 1) ] (else:)[ The remaining aliens finally spot you. With no remaining ammo, you're helpless as they open fire. You are [[dead]]... ] ] (else:)[ You look down at the ray gun in your armored hand. It says that you have $ammo ammo. You think you might be able to take one of them out from this hiding spot before they see you. Which do you shoot at first? (if: $grunt is 1)[ There is a [[small alien]] with what looks like a little pea-shooter. ] (if: $elite is 1)[ There is a [[bigger alien]] with a laser rifle. The little alien seems to be listening to him. ] (if: $sniper is 1)[ There is also an [[alien on a hovering platform]] with what looks like a sniper rifle. ] ] You walk up to the old truck. It has cement blocks wedged in front of the tires. You plan your [[next shot->east]]... (set: $ammo to 4) ] (else-if: $ammo is 4)[ You shoot the little alien but your first shot goes wide. You connect on the next shot, but you've used 2 bullets. You plan your [[next shot->east]]... (set: $ammo -= 2) ] (else:)[ With no other bigger aliens around, the little one turns tail and runs away. Your first shot goes wide, but you connect with the second so he can't go alert his friends. You look back into [[the clearing->east]]. (set: $ammo -= 2) ] (set: $grunt to 0) (set: $aliens -= 1) (if: $ammo > 3)[ Your first shot creates a big hole in the alien's helmet, but he's still standing. You have to fire a second shot to finish the job. You plan your [[next shot->east]]... (set: $ammo -= 2) ] (else:)[ The big alien was ready for you. You fire your remaining shots, but it's not enough to overcome his elite training. He bears down on you and opens fire. You are [[dead]]... (set: $ammo -= 1) ] (set: $elite to 0) (set: $aliens -= 1) (if: $ammo is 5)[ BOOM! Headshot! You hit the alien cleanly and it falls backwards into the forest. The other two don't seem to notice. You take a deep breath and towards the [[aliens->east]] again... (set: $ammo -= 1) ] (elseif: $ammo is 2)[ You fire off your remaining shots, but the alien is able to dodge. He lines you up in his scope and fires. You are [[dead]]... ] (else:)[ You fire off some shots, but the alien on the platform ducks and dodges before you can get a clean hit. You've lost 3 shots. You plan your [[next shot->east]]... (set: $ammo -= 3) ] (set: $sniper to 0) (set: $aliens -= 1)The door isn't locked, but the rusted door hinges won't open far enough for you to reach inside. You decide to look at the [[old truck->south]] again. You pull out the cement blocks in front of each tire. Each time the truck gives a little lurch forward. When you pull the last one out, you jump back quickly as the truck charges down the little hill like a dog breaking its chain. It hits a tree and the rusted hinges of the door break clean off, leaving the [[cab]] open. You look in the cab and pick up the toy ray gun. Light shines from the gun and travels up your arm, covering you in futuristic-looking armor. Who leaves stuff like this just lying around? Feeling pretty awesome, you head back to the [[white house]]. (set: $raygun to 1)Game Over! Don't give up! You can [[Start]] again!
