This tutorial will show you the process of going through a few turns.
At the start of the game, I like to use the Converse with one or more agents action with individual agents a few times to get a baseline of cards on the board. We'll go from left to right, starting with Mr Mauve. I add one heat counter to him, draw a card by clicking on Recall intel, and drag it into his space.
Looks like Mr Mauve is up to no good! Let's repeat this action for Dr Dandelion and Lady Lilac. We add one heat to each, draw a card and assign it to them.
It sounds like there's a bit of collusion between Dr Dadelion and Mr Mauve - presumably Mauve used the maps and guard schedules to execute his heist. Lady Lilac delivered the princess and ambiguous symbol. We'll leave Sir Cedar alone for now - we're going to use his heat for a different purpose later. For now, let's flesh out the details of Mr Mauve and Dr Dandelion. We'll use the converse with one or more agents action again, this time with the two of them. We'll add one heat to both and draw a card.
Looks like one of the two is responsible for assassinating an Odysian Government official. We can assign this card to either Mauve or Dandelion. So far Mauve seems like a more roguish sort, so we'll assign the card to him.
It seems like all the characters have vague connections to the Monarchist party, so let's use the Go fishing for information action to work backwards from the conclusion. We'll corner Sir Cedar and ask him to spill the beans about whoever the Monarchist is. We add two heat counters to Sir Cedar, draw a card, and put it down next to the This character is the Monarchist conclusion.
There's a lot going on in this new card- three characters are referenced and it introduces a new place, Patxi's Bar, which we haven't seen yet. Maybe Mr Mauve is the assassin in question, though one doesn't typically need a vantage point when using a neurotoxin. We'll use Lady Lilac's last unit of heat to draw one last card.
Lilac has either been runing Monarchist meetings out of Patxi's Bar, or was hired at one. At this point all the agents have two heat, so we can't draw any more cards to get more information. To reset the heat counters, we need to assign one of the conclusion cards to an agent by using the Meet with your handler and draw conclusions action. We already have a reasonable case that Lilac is the Monarchist, but for the sake of the tutorial let's pin it on Mr Mauve. We'll use the Drink a flute of champagne and reconsider your intel action. We add a heat counter to ourselves and move Lilac's second card over to Mr Mauve.
While we're at it, let's move Mauve's first card back over to Lady Lilac by using the Drink a flute of champagne and reconsider your intel action again.
Now Mr Mauve, as the purveyor of Patxi's Bar, hired Lady Lilac, the iridium thief and Killweed enthusiast at his illicit Monarchist meetings. Lilac provided the Killweed that Mauve used for the neurotoxin, which he supplied to his lackey during the assassination attempt on the president.
Now we're ready to use the Meet with your handler and draw conclusions action. Drag the This character is the Monarchist card to Mr Mauve's Conclusion space and reset all the heat counters to zero.
Now that one of the characters is identified, we have plenty more heat to flesh out the others' backstories and motives. That concludes one round. In a real game, you'll continue like this until you've assigned all three Conclusions, then proceed to the Finale. You don't need to use up every last drop of heat each time, either. There aren't enough cards to draw as many as you can, so don't be shy about using all your abilities and assigning conclusions early. Good luck!
