11:42 AM, Garr Beige Motel, September, 1992
I wake up in the room at the motel. Light pierces through the curtains, telling me that I’ve already slept in too late.
I pickup my badge on the corner table. Rob Lemb-Suliver. Private Detective. I’ve always hated this picture and this title. Thankfully I get to keep this at the motel while I begin my case.
Getting up and getting dressed was never my favourite part of the day, but this day has a bit of urgency to it. This case is one of the biggest ones I’ve taken on in a very long time. I can’t believe that it was the mayor who dragged me into this one. I better look at the case before I head out.
[[Look at case files]]

Victim: Nate Lumin, middle-aged, caucasian, tall
Disappeared a couple of weeks ago
No one really knew the victim
Worked at the Lighthouse just under a decade
Currently no leads other than the Lighthouse

[[I need to head out while the suns out or else I will get there by midnight. I need to get some fresh air to wake up anyways. ->Head out]]I don’t know why I assumed it was ever a good idea to tackle this case without 5 cups of coffee in me. For such a small motel, it really surprises me that they stock such a nice coffee machine in the room. Hopefully this will help wake me up to gather my thoughts better.
[[Look at case files with a better view]] Now that I have a coffee in hand and the blinds open, let's take a look at this case.
Victim: Nate Lumin, 42 years old, caucasian, 5’8”
Disappeared mid August
No close relatives or friends
Worked at the Lighthouse for about 9 years
Currently no leads other than the Lighthouse
Disappearance reported by local fisherman making a stop
[[I need to head out while the suns out or else I will get there by midnight. I think I’ve had enough coffee for the day anyways. ->Head out]]
While leaving the motel, the clouds above move towards with a threatening energy. It seems I picked a great day to try and solve a disappearance case. Walking down the street to the corner store before I start my marathon of a walk, I can already start to feel heavy droplets dropping down on my raincoat. I came prepared with proper clothing, but I did not come mentally prepared for this weather, or for a matter of fact this case in general.
As I arrive at the corner store, I prepare myself for a very long walk and a lot of time to think about myself. I pick up a bottle of water and some snacks for the trip, and walk to the front.
[[ I drop off all the items to the corner store clerk, and he gives me a sly smile in return. ->Talk to the corner store clerk]]For a brief moment, the sun came through the clouds and was ready to greet the world. Immediately as it came, the hard rain started pouring down.
“This is going to be a long day”
At the edge of civilization for the town of Waredaygough, before the endless road to the Lighthouse, a man in a tent is hiding it out from the downpour of the storm.
[[I go up to him to see if there is anything I can do.->Talk to the man in the tent]]“Hey, are you going to be okay? Do you need anything?”
“No” says the man. “I’ve been through a lot worse in this town. A little bit of rain won’t stop me. Where are you headed?”
“ I’m heading to the edge of town, by the shore. I heard there's a Lighthouse out there” I reply.
“Oh, I wouldn’t be heading out there! No one goes out there. They say it's cursed. After good ol’ Nate’s disappearance, I wouldn’t doubt it.”
[["Were you close to Nate Lumin’s?" ->Ask question 1]]
[["Do you know of anyone heading in or out of town around the time of Nate’s disappearance?" ->Ask question 2]]
[[I turn to him and say, 'bye!' you know, One small step for mankind, one semi-decent step for small-time detectives. ->Get on your way]]“Oh yes, everyone around here is close. I knew Nate since he was walking like the deer. He’s a really great fellow, seemed to always have his head in the clouds though. Except for that Lighthouse. When it came down to his job, he was as sharp as a needle.”
“I wonder where he went”
“I wonder as well, it’s a shame what happened, he really is a great guy. I hope someone finds him soon, not only for his sake, but for the whole town as well.”
“Me too.” I reply. “I have to head out now before I start having to walk with rain up to my knees. You stay safe out there!”
“You stay safe yourself, son.”
I walk away from the kind man in the tent and walk to where the buildings stop. I stare down the seemingly never ending road, and begin my journey.
[[Get on your way]]“You sure don’t sound like you’re heading out to the edge of town. Who are you really? Why do you know so much about this disappearance?”
“Sorry sir, I was just curious. I heard it was the talk of the town the past couple of weeks.”
He looks sternly at me. “You bet it is, but you aren’t apart of this town, so you best be leaving now”
“I am sorry if I upset you,.I hope the rain doesn’t cause too much trouble.”
Well, that went smoothly.
Only thing I can do now is start heading towards the Lighthouse. I stare down the seemingly never ending road, and begin my journey.
[[Get on your way]]Something I was taught very early on when taking this job was to use the time available to you. Staring down this long road seems like the perfect opportunity to think ahead.
[[ It might be good to mull over some of this case while I walk ->Remember details of the case]]
[[ I’ve never been good at destressing, but I might be able to relax and enjoy the walk before I get to the Lighthouse ->Enjoy the walk]]Let’s not play around here. I am walking to a possible crime scene for a disappearing case with a possibly unwilling suspect. I have to be extremely precise in my wording and use my time effectively. This isn’t the first time I have gotten myself into such a high-stakes situation, but I am afraid of going too far this time. All I need to do is get all I can out of the lighthouse keeper, get the clues, and get out.
[[Alright, I am approaching the Lighthouse now. I am ready. I am ready. ->End of walk]]I have only driven through Waredaygough maybe 3 times in my entire life. Taking the time to stop and stare at it from outside of car really makes me realize the beauty of this small little town.
[[Maybe just clearing my mind and just think about whatever comes to me might help me come to this case fresh->Zone out and clear your mind]]
[[I’ll probably never return to this town after this case, maybe I should take in the sights and sounds while I’m here ->Observe whats around you]]The more I think about how many steps I have left until I get to this isolated island away from civilization, the more quickly I am going to collapse on the side of this road. This case also feels more urgent than usual, but I usually do decently under stress. *Breathes in* Lets just clear the mind and breathe.
[[ I wonder if I can make friends with one of these deer ->Passing thoughts 1]]
[[I should go hiking more, this isn’t all that bad! ->Passing thoughts 2]]There seems to be so much more livelihood on the sides of this road than I have ever noticed. The gloomy fog and heavy rain hanging over everything at least gives me an excuse for why I have never noticed it before.
[[: I really don’t understand how there could be so much activity close to the lighthouse ->Look at nature 1]]
[[The trees and the fog seem to last forever. When did I last see another human being? ->Look at nature 2]]
[[ While I do love rain and it does make this something to remember, maybe I should have picked a day with better weather? ->Look at nature 3]]I don’t know much about lighthouses, but I would assume it would be something that animals and wildlife would be scared of. I wonder what is going on beyond those trees that is keeping all of this wildlife here, so close to the shoreline. I don’t know if I want to find out, but that is probably just my imagination getting the best of me
[[Well, thankfully I don’t have to let my imagination run wild for too long. It looks like I am already here. ->End of walk]]I feel like I haven’t seen a human for hours now. I don’t want to stress myself out too much, but stranding myself on an island with a possible culprit in a disappearance case with no other humans around does not excite me. This town is now really starting to creep me out.
[[ I shouldn’t have thought about that, it looks like I am at the island now. Take another deep breath Rob, you’ve got this->End of walk]]Thankfully, I had some forethought to dress appropriately for this ridiculous plan. It is not the worst plan I have ever conceived, this one actually feels like I might have a chance at a good lead. This weather is not inspiring confidence though. At least it’ll give me some sympathy-points when I approach the new Lighthouse keeper
[[Looks like my shoes don’t have to get any wetter than they are already. I am already at the lighthouse.->End of walk]]I’ve never been good with animals, but all the different animals I see running alongside the road seem so friendly and majestic. I wonder if I can pet one of the deer? Can people ride deer? I assume they can’t. Otherwise that would make this walk a lot shorter. Who am I kidding myself? Like I would even dare myself to get close to an animal without it tearing my face off.
[[Well, would ya look at that, it actually worked! I am already here! ->End of walk]]I remember hiking along sides of roads like this many times in my youth. I don’t ever think it was because I was hitchhiking, I just liked seeing a road at a much slower speed. I always liked seeing
[[ Well, that was a good workout, but it looks like my hike is coming to an end. Note to self: do this more often. ->End of walk]]I approach the only path to the Lighthouse. The heavy rain makes it impossible to make out the structure of the Lighthouse, but the blinding light cuts through the droplets like a guillotine. The path is extremely damp from the water rushing in on both sides and the rain pouring down from above. All I can do now is start walking towards the Lighthouse and do as much as I can. I am ready.
[[Cross bridge ->Go to the lighthouse]]
[[turn back and start a new life]]The path across the bank sinks lower than the mainland and for a minute, I feel like I’m walking through the waves. It would have been a nice, isolating feeling if it wasn’t so damn cold. I watch the waves crash against the rocks of the island as I approach the tall, bricked building and do my best to take mental stock of my surroundings.
To the left of the small, rocky island is an old and used boat house. The wood looks warped and from where I pass it, I can hear it creak through the storm. If I was a criminal, that would be the prime setting for crimes.
To the right of the island is the lighthouse, and the promise of dryer shoes. There’s a warm light coming through the window on the door, I guess someone’s home after all.
[[Go to door]]
[[Go to ship dock]]
[[Go to the shore]]
[[turn back and start a new life]]This world wasn't ready for me anyway. I turn on my heel towards the nearest cliff side and take position. I can hear it, the sound of the running gun from my highschool days. It goes off, and so do I. At full speed, I dash towards the ocean. This is it. Finally. After everything I've worked towards, after all those marine biology classes, after all of the hours and dollars I spent having gills surgically implanted to allow for both underwater and air based breathing. I leap, soaring well into the air, like the dolphin I truly feel myself becoming. A perfect entry, despite all of the rage in the cloud and air above me. Finally.
Finally.
I am one with the sea.
Finally.
[[Start]]With the sun shining, I can clearly tell how weathered the boathouse and dock look. The wood sounds like it might collapse as I wrench the door open and walk inside. This place looks as dead on the inside as it sounds.
The room itself is rather small with not much more than some worn furniture to fill it. It might be a good idea to look for clues while I have a chance…
[[Investigate Desk ->!Ship dock desk]]
[[Investigate Locker ->!Ship dock locker]]
[[Investigate Bookshelf ->!Ship dock bookshelf]]
[[See my other options on the island ->Go to entrance]][[Swim into the horizon]]
[[Investigate the shore ->!Shore sand]]Yeah, inside sounds great. I think I can feel the rain flooding into my ears at this point.
I trudge on past the boat house, keeping it in my mind for later investigation. The door’s window shines and I feel almost welcomed in.
[[Knock]]
[[Knock frantically ->Ask if anyone's home]]I knock. Like a sensible person.
There’s only a moment alone before the door creaks open and I’m face to face with a clean shaven young man. He looks up at me with big eyes and seems lost for a moment.
“You picked a bad day for a walk stranger” He smiles up at me and I can’t help but notice he’s missing a tooth. “Please come in! You can tell me how you ended up here when you’re not soaked through.
[[Stare at him because he's really cute and you weren't expecting that at all->Door talk 1-2]]The door swings open as I continue to pound on it the way the rain pounds on me. In the doorway of the lighthouse he stands. Kidd Knahbour, the replacement lighthouse attendant. He glares up at me through messy auburn bangs. He looks like he could kick my ass and it’s kinda hot if it came down to it. I’ll have to be cautious around him, as soon as he finishes yelling at me for being so loud so late.
“And who might you be, banging on my door at ass in the evening?”
[[I'd like to be banging on his ass in the evening ->Door talk 2-2]] I place my hand on the door and feel the rain fall past my hood and down my face. I can;t believe she left me. After all this time, after all this hardship.
“Stephanie, are you there?!” I yell out in a frantic voice.
[[What the hell am I doing? This isn’t some teen drama just knock damnit->Knock]]Now that I'm here, how do I want to get the attention of the person inside?
[[Knock Calmly ->Door talk 1]]
[[Knock Frantically ->Door talk 2]]
[[Maybe I don't want to be here after all...->turn back and start a new life]]“Stocking up, eh?”
“Yeah, got a long walk ahead of me, my car broke down”
“Oh, I am sorry to hear that” he says, with a somewhat concerned but distant expression.
“No it didn’t really break down, I am just pretending it did”
The clerk stares at me as if I was about to reach over the counter, which I wouldn’t blame him if I had met someone like me.
[[ I leave the change for the items and begin my trek towards the light ->Leave the corner store]]This worked out better than I’d expected. The new lighthouse attendant, Kidd Knahbour, had auburn hair and freckles that I could see even under his beanie and big coat. I guess it was cold even indoors. Part of me stalls, I wonder if it isn’t too late to turn back…?
“You won’t be able to get back to the mainland in this storm Stranger.” It’s almost like he can smell my hesitation. “The bridge floods in high tide” He points past me and I notice his sturdy build when his coat moves. I probably won’t win in a fist fight. I should be careful around suspects
[[Follow after him ->Go inside]]
[[Who the hell is he to tell me whether I can swim accross to the mainland or not? ->turn back and start a new life]]I contemplate what to say for a moment but he interrupts quickly.
“Nevermind. It’s the end of the world outside. Come in, get warm, you won’t be able to make it back to the mainland tonight anyway. I’m not even all that mad about the banging, I’d be frantic too if I was as wet as you look.” He eyes me up and down for a moment before wetting his lips and nodding to himself. I watch him cautiously for a second
[[Follow after him ->Go inside]]
[[Well, if it really is the end of the world I've got a better shot with the sharks. ->turn back and start a new life]] He steps back into the hallway, leaving the door open behind him. With the distance between us I steal a glance over to the bridge. Looks like there’s no going back now, I’d better find some evidence if I’m in for the night..
[[Enter ->Title card]]There’s got to be some kind of registry of people passing through?
[[Look in broken lockbox on top of desk ->Ship dock desk 1]]
[[Open the drawer with a brass handle barely hanging off->Ship dock desk 2]]The old locker takes a second to pry open, but when it does it nearly hits me in the nose.
The locker in front of me has three compartments. A door with chipped paint, a door with some old faded stickers and a door with a rude word that’s been mostly scrubbed away. The metal looks old and bent and I’m sure they’ll make noise to open.
[[Check the faded brown binder ->Ship dock locker 1]]
[[Open the warped cardboard shoebox ->Ship dock locker 2]]
[[Look into the handing bag on the hook ->Ship dock locker 3]]There’s always time for a good book

[[Restart ->Start]]Being as careful as I can, I waddle my way over to the edge of the cliff. I watch the water crash against the stone at my feet. Over and over again, it rushes towards me and then falls short. I can’t help but want to reach out towards it. It’s a natural instinct, to be drawn to danger. “The call of the void” or something like that.
[[Well that’s enough melodramatic garbage ->Go to entrance]]Kidd leads me down the short hallway and into the living area. The room is warm, bathed in light from the fireplace that warms my soul before my feet. Which are soaked. All of me is soaked but wet socks are just the worst.
“Make yourself at home Stranger, did you want something to warm you up?”He gestures to an old armchair but I don’t move.
If I ask for tea, he might give me a few minutes alone in the room...
[["I’d love something to warm me up” ->Tea talk 1]]`
[[Just stare at him ->Tea talk 2]]“I’d love something to warm me up”
He smiles at me for a moment, seemingly laughing to himself before he nods and leaves the room. I watch him walk in his heavy coat and when I can no longer hear the thudding of his boots, I break into a scamper.
[[Time for business ->!Search main room]]There’s a moment of silence between us, him watching me, me standing dumbly in the middle of the room. He walks backwards until he’s fully out of view, presumably to make some tea. Now’s my chance.
"[[Let’s get busy ->!Search main room]]The room is pretty spacious with only some furniture. There are two large armchairs, surrounding an obviously used table. There’s a bunch of coasters and used tea mugs scattered across the surface, as well as a photo book.
The walls of the lighthouse are over crowded with knick knacks and photos. There’s an overwhelming sense of pride from all of the smiling faces and strange souvenirs scattered along the walls. If I wasn’t here on a disappearance case the whole thing would feel familial and warm, but instead it feels like a memorial. Almost meticulously placed in the middle of some photos, is a storage chest. It’s decorated similarly to some knick knacks from the wall behind it.
In the corner of the room by the fireplace, there’s a tall stack of dry newspapers. They seem almost immediately out of place, in the forever damp room. They sit snug in the corner just beside the fireplace.
[[There’s probably something belonging to Nate in that chest… ->!Main room chest]]
[[I wonder if Kidd means to burn these newspapers? Maybe he’s hiding evidence here... ->!Main room newspapers]]
[[Let’s take a look in a book… ->!Main room photobook]]The chest is adorned with seashells and other craft type accessories. Opening it up, it seems to be filled with some old lines and blankets. Tucked underneath one of the blankets is something hard, out of place. [[Look under blanket ->Main room chest clue 1]]The newspapers in the corner are old and dried out, they seem to have been here for a while but I can’t help wondering who might be delivering newspapers all the way out here?
[[ I’ll check the ones on top ->Main room newspapers clue 1]]
[[I’ll check halfway through the pile ->Main room newspapers clue 2]]
I pull the book off the table and open it’s old pages with as much care as I can afford. The book is large and heavy, but inside there’s quite a few photos and newspaper clippings from well back. After flipping through a few pages, something catches my eye.
[[here’s a photo dog eared in the middle of an almost empty page. Nate and Kidd are snuggling on one of the armchairs. Who took this photo? ->Main room photobook clue 1]]Scrolling to the funnies. Dilbert and Dogbert, wish that's what the station was like. And of course, Odie and John, you two have GOTTA get that cat out of there!
[[Hmm, I think I hear him coming back ->Main room tea talk]] As I go to pull back the dog eared photo, a note falls out to the floor. I pick it up and scan over the contents, a note from Nate, dated close to the time of his disappearance. This could mean something to the case.

[[I can hear Kidd coming back, let’s be inconspicuous. ->Main room tea talk]]I can hear Kidd humming as he approaches the main room and I can’t help but feel like he’s announcing his presence. Everything about the groundskeeper screams confidence. He walks into the room with two warm mugs and flashes me a big smile.
“Here you go Stranger, this should soothe the ache for a while” I take the mug but don’t drink until he does.
Walking past me, Kidd sits down in one of the armchairs and gestures for me to follow suit. I can’t help watching him as he moves, not trying to look suspicious but still trying to learn something in his body language.
“Do you always look at people like that or am I special?”
[[Squawk like a duck for being called out on your weird bullshit ->Main room tea question 1]]
[[“Sorry, I’m Rob. I didn’t get your name?” ->Main room tea question 2]]
[[I'll stare at him super intently ->Main room tea question 3]]I pull out the small silver knife. Why would someone hide this away in a chest? It seems pretty suspicious considering he should be here alone… Maybe it’s for self defence? Maybe he needs to be opening letters only in the dim light of a closed chest?
(set: $rightAnswers to $rightAnswers + 1)
[[Oh no, I think I hear him coming back!->Main room tea talk]]For a moment I’m caught off guard and I stand there dumbstruck. I let myself get carried away trying to figure out his deal and he caught me, dead to rights. Did I just squawk?
“Sorry, I’m still pretty cold and out of it from the storm” I move my eyes around the room but I can feel his bowring into me. I can feel my ears burn under the stare.
[[“Thank you for letting me stay the night here.” ->Main room tea question 1-2]] I blurt that out quickly but I probably shouldn’t have told him my real name. His wide smile shrinks a bit and I sit down on the empty armchair.
“I’m Kidd, how did you manage out here by the lighthouse in such bad weather?”
Shit I hadn’t thought about my alibi at all. I still for a minute and stare into the hot tea.
“My car broke down” He’s still smiling at me with a neutral face.
“The drivable road stops well back towards Waredaygough”

I’m sure he knows something. I must have let off who I was or what my motives were. You would think after 8 years I would be better and keeping my mouth shut. I can’t help but feel like something about this job has me making stupid mistakes. What is it about this lighthouse? [[I am going to find every clue about this man while I’m up there. How dare he call me a dumbass.->Barracks]]“My names Kidd by the way”
I stare into the fire before responding, should I tell him my name? Would he even know who I was?
“I’m Rob” I try to match his quiet tone. He seems to appreciate that and I can feel his eyes linger on me again before he stands up. He walks over to the door frame and leans against it. I watch the light dance across his auburn hair and freckles. I didn’t notice him taking off his jacket but the turtle neck looks warm on his broad shoulders.
“I’ve got a change of clothes and a cot waiting for you upstairs. Go get changed and get some sleep. I’ll be up in a bit”
[[I’ll have to be quick and quiet if I’m looking for clues before he gets upstairs... ->Barracks]]As I reach the second floor of the lighthouse, I start to see the aesthetic of this location that I expected to see. The warmth and coziness of the first floor bled into dirty wood and cluttered tools across the floor. In the back, I can faintly see the fully-stocked pantry behind a solid brick wall.

[[I died :-( ->Start]]I attempt to put one foot onto the bedding. Got it, good start.
I attempt to put the second foot onto the bedding. Feeling less confident the second time through.

I now have a grasp on the top shelf with my hands and am keeping myself stabilized with my tippy toes. I am starting to see something… Yes! There is something on the top shelf.
As I excitedly reach out my hand to grab the mystery object, I start to feel the floor move beneath me
[[There goes my one foot…..and there goes my other. This is going to suck ->Fall down]]As I hit the ground, I recognized immediately both of the feelings running through my body. After the long day that was today though, it felt like the comfiest bed I have ever been on. Time to get some rest and wake up tomorrow with a brand new outlook. I wonder what Kidd is doing right now…
[[Lemme get some shuteye ->Go to entrance]]The dry pantry counter is stocked with beans and pasta as far as the eye can see. I open both shelves and see what I can find.
[[The first shelf stocked with beans might have something hidden in the background. Too bad I dont have a can opener on me ->Barracks dry pantry counter 1]]
[[The second shelf stocked with pasta might have an object tucked in between the packets. If I open one of these packets I could probably make something delicious. ->Barracks dry pantry counter 2]]I thought I would find more in the dry pantry cupboard than dust. The entire cupboard is completely empty except for one dead rat in the corner. Why wouldn’t they use this fantastic cupboard space instead of shoving everything onto the counter.
[[I’m tired of this, I really thought I would be able to find more than I have by this point. I should just head to bed. ->Go to bed]]Pushing the can of beans around reveals more cans of beans. Pushing those cans of beans aside reveals….more cans of beans. It might just be a me-thing, but I can’t imagine this man being that creative in his cooking to use all of these cans of beans.
[[Maybe if I eat a can or two of these beans, it can give me insight into the case? No, I should just go to bed and start again tomorrow. ->Go to bed]]The variety of pasta in the second counter is honestly surprising. I am sure some of these types of pasta are made up… Cavatelli? Fideo? Gemelli? Maybe I am not cultured enough, but I really have no idea when it comes to this stuff.
[[It looks like there is something hiding underneath all of the packets of pasta in the back of the counter ->Barracks dry pantry counter clue FOUND]]Stepping back out into the salty air after the anxiety of last night is the most relieved I’ve been in ages. With the soft light from the rising sun, even the rotting boat house looks like a breath of fresh air. Now’s a good time to take in the surroundings.
The small island houses only two structures, the light house and the boathouse. The lighthouse looks newly renovated and with the light sheen of after rain, it could easily be a tourist spot. The windows reflect the sunlight and Wardaygough is clearly printed down the side.
The boathouse doesn’t look any better in daylight than it did last night. It’s warped wood and broken planks are hastily patched up and look like they might topple over if I so much as walk close enough. I can hear the door creaking from here, seems to be one of those buildings that never breaks, no matter how many storms it sees.
[[Go to old ship dock]]
[[Go to shore]]
[[Leave]][[Go to the lighthouse]]Being as careful as I can, I waddle my way over to the edge of the cliff. I watch the water crash against the stone at my feet. Over and over again, it rushes towards me and then falls short. I can’t help but want to reach out towards it. It’s a natural instinct, to be drawn to danger. “The call of the void” or something like that.
[[Well that's enough melodramatic garbage ->Go to the lighthouse]]I find my way back to the station..

[[Take a seat]][[Let's see how you did Rob. -> Next question]]
As I hear the loud steps of the lighthouse keeper running up the stairs, I feel a sense of relief.
“What happened?!?!?! What are you doing?!?!” He screams.
He rushes to me and lifts me up in his arms. He checks the back of my head to see if any blood comes out….It feels oddly safe and secure in his arms. As he pressed me against his chest, it is oddly more toned than what he puts on.
“Thank...thank god...you’re here” I say to him, looking up right into his eyes.
“You could’ve gotten yourself killed! What were you doing!! It looks like you even broke your leg?”
“Sorry...I ...I get ahead of ...myself...sometimes…..Silly me, I suppose.”
“Listen, we need to get you to a bed and rest. No one’s going to come get you, so I will need to take care of those wounds right now” He says with a sense of urgency. I never took in just how kind his words are.
“I’m sorry….I hope...you don’t …. Don’t mind me staying… a while…”
“I don’t mind” he says, looking right back at me. “I don’t mind at all… you can stay for as long as you want…”
[[Thank you ... ->Start]]As the room started spinning around, I felt a numbness creep around my whole body. I’ve read this in a book somewhere I think. It’s always exciting experiencing something you read. What is this feeling… Oh! It’s death!
[[Damn :-( ->Start]](if: $rightAnswers is 0 ) ["Rob.. no clues? Restart the game, and try again you dope!"]
(if: $rightAnswers is 1 ) [“Common Rob!” The police chief exclaims. “You’ve been doing this for how long and this was all you could get?! That’s it, I’m kicking you off of the force.”]
(if: $rightAnswers is 2 ) [ “I know you can do better at this.” The police chief says solemnly. “This is a good start on figuring out what happened to Nate, but it does not give us enough of an idea. Do better next time, will ya?”]
(if: $rightAnswers is 3 ) [“So it looks like this might’ve been foul play.” The police chief says while contemplating. “If we only had one or two more clues, we might’ve been able to shut this case close. Good work on what you found for the time being though, Rob. I knew I could count on you.”]
(if: $rightAnswers is 4 ) [So it was foul play!” The police chief says excitedly. “I knew there was something fishy about this town. I think we can press charges against Kidd as the kidnapper, there's enough evidence heaping on him to put him away for a long time. Great job out there Rob, you’ve always been the best in the business.”]
[[Restart!]]Well look at this? A boat ownership document. It seems Nate might've bought a nice little getaway vehicle? Or did he just treat himself to something nice right before something terrible happened. I empathize with both Nate, I really do
[[The creaking of wood above me doesn't sound good - With how loud that sound just was, it’s not safe to stick around here any longer… I got something useful, let me get out with it. ->Leave]]
(set: $rightAnswers to $rightAnswers + 1)I knew this locker would have something useful. it looks like a time sheet for Nate. Seems like he did not clock out on August 6th. That doesn't make any sense... his disappearance was reported in the middle of August. You would think this island would get more activity than every couple of weeks.

[[The creaking of wood above me doesn't sound good - With how loud that sound just was, it’s not safe to stick around here any longer… I got something useful, let me get out with it. ->Leave]]I reach out and pull out a gun. The gun doesn’t look too old, and does not look like it has been fired much. But it has definitely been used. I wonder why it had been hidden away in the bedding closet. I will definitely keep a note of this..

[[Well a job well done deserves a good rest. I think it is time for me to get some sleep to clear my head. ->Go to bed]]
[[Maybe there's more around this room if I look around. ->Barracks]]An old bloody Lighthouse garb!!! This is fantastic! But also, this makes me feel a lot more tense in this house. I need to get this back to the lab at the station.

[[For now, I should hide this under my bed that was given to me for the night and wake up tomorrow to plan my next steps. ->Go to bed]]
[[Maybe there's more around this room if I look around ->Barracks]]The first few newspapers seem to be recent, discussing things like local happenings, local peoples and even incoming shipments and visiting boats… There’s a whole piece in here about the last couple months, right around the time Nate went missing.
