you wake up. it feels like about 10am. you still feel really tired. your eyes don't want to open. do you open your eyes? [[yes->open eyes]] [[no->eyes closed]](click-goto:?page,"open eyes")you open your eyes. the sun shines through your blinds. it's bright, so you squint. you still feel really tired. do you close your eyes again? [[yes.->close again]] [[no.->eyes open]]you keep your eyes closed. maybe you'll sleep a little longer. you don't have anything to do today, after all. (end)you stare into the light from your window for a moment. you think vaguely about whether you should get up soon. you decide you'll probably rest at least a little longer. do you grab your phone? [[yes->check phone]] [[no->don't check]]you close your eyes again. it feels so good, like your body was begging you to return to sleep. how long will you keep your eyes closed? [[until i fall asleep again->back to sleep]] [[just a few minutes->snooze]] [[i'll get up now->time to go]]you look at your phone, squinting a little at the light until you lower the brightness. you don't have many notifications, but you do notice it's almost 10:15. you remember promising yourself you'd get up and do laundry in the morning. do you? [[laundry can wait->stay in bed]] [[(sigh) i guess i should->do laundry]] you stare at the wall, then the ceiling. your eyes want to close again. your limbs feel heavy. you don't know if you want to get up or sink into the bed. [[get some breakfast->eat]] [[just stay->rest]]laundry can wait. you're still tired. at least you're awake - maybe you'll feel up to it before too more longer. for now though, you pull the blanket up under your chin and scroll idly on your phone, letting your body and mind rest a little longer. (end)//ugh//. it doesn't sound fun, but it does need doing. you slowly pull yourself out of bed and grab some stuff from your hamper, shuffling to the laundry room. it takes all of a minute to stuff your clothes in the washer with some detergent and start them running, but it's still exhausting. but hey, at least you've marked something off your to-do list. you feel kind of good as you lean against the washer and take a moment to relax again. maybe today will be less tiring. (end)you get up and fix yourself some cereal. its a little stale, but its sugary enough that you don't care. you stare out the window as you eat, enjoying the bright sky and quiet morning. it may be a quarter after ten, but that still counts. you feel a little more energized as you finish and rinse your bowl. maybe you'll attack one of your chores and then chill for a bit. if you pace yourself, you can have a pretty good day. you set your bowl in the sink and go to get your laundry. (end)you just lay there. you're not sure there's any point laying there if you're not sleeping anymore, but this is what your body wants. you lay there and you play with the idea of sleeping, or of getting up in a few minutes, but you do neither. maybe you'll doze off again before you can decide. maybe you'll wake up a little more and be ready to get out of bed. all you know is for now, here's where you're staying. (end)you feel yourself slipping under again. its so slow and so deliberate that you feel like you could pull yourself out at any moment, but it's just so tempting not to. after what feels like ages, but also before you know it, you're asleep again, left to wake up whenever your body decides. (end)you close your eyes, then open them, then close them again. you're drifting in and out of near-sleep. you can feel your exhaustion melting oh so slowly, gradually waking up for real. after about twenty minutes or so you're awake enough that you might as well act like it. you slide out of bed and get ready to start your day. maybe the extra rest will give you the edge you need. (end)you should stop wasting time. you go ahead and push the covers away, rolling out of bed and fumbling around for your slippers. maybe you'll get some coffee to make it up to yourself. either way, it's time to start the day for real. you cast a last longing look at your bed as you leave the room.
