A building collapses in the early morning, just down the road from your house. When the sun rises and the dust clears, you wander to the crash site and find a robot girl lying in the rubble. She's awake.

hostile - + - peaceful normal - + - disaster

"What happened?" she says.

"You could tell me," you reply. A talking robot - you can't believe it. Robots are rare nowadays, let alone talking ones. What's one doing at the bottom of a crumbled building?

"I don't know... The last time I was awake, everything was indoors. Everyone was sleeping or walking around. And now, nobody's here."

Her voice is weak and trembling, almost like a real child's. It's weird.

You survey the ruins and remember what this building once was. One of those secretive buildings with a vague name: "Steele Enterprises" or "Porter Association" or something like that. You should have guessed they'd keep a robot in their basement. Just because they could. The fact that they'd leave it here probably means they're all dead.

And now, this girl is here. This not-quite girl, broken and twisted beyond repair, but awake. And talking.

"Are you going to kill me?"

You stare at her.

"I won't kill you," you say. "Why would I?"

And then you leave her, because you can guess why the building fell. And you don't want to be around when the humanists return.
