She pushes Donation into the her chest and you both stand still until you hear it beep once, twice, three ti'mes and it's LED begins to pulse. You realise as you watch it that it's pulsing in the rhythm of your heartbeat. \n\nP14 is not smiling anymore. Her face is blank. It's the most disconcerting thing you have ever seen. \n\n[[Is it...working?]]

P14 turns to you very slowly. "It's all so...so overwhelming." "Do...do you not understand that it would a complete invasion of your thoughts?" You shrug. It's not a huge deal and hey, it's for a good cause right? Donation is smooth white plastic and the green LED's glow steadily. It nearly fit's in the palm of your hand and when you pass your hand over the screen a holographic keyboard beams into view. Handy. \n\n[[Navigate your flat]]

"It is!" she's smiling now and it reaches her eyes in a way that it didn't before. She looks refreshing now as she starts to pace around the room. "In a sense yes, however we have accomodated for that possibility." She touches the small hole at the front of the gadget and a holograhic keyboard and screen beams up and floats softly in the air. You both stand in silence for a second before P14 speaks, "If we were to do that we would lose your donation as I have no facilities here to make a back-up as we usually would. I would also only take on your emotions. That means a direct copy of your thoughts and feelings and no one else's. There would be no spectrum to blend you into." You go back to bed, annoyed that you got woken up for nothing. You drift off to sleep and don't think about the robot or the Humans for Robots Trust again until you see an article about them in the papers the next week. She has these longs eyelashes, each one shiny and thick looking and they dim the light of her eyes which are also green. You suppose it’s all supposed to look professional and unthreatening. She reaches into her folder and pulls out what looks like a small white egg. "This is Donation. It is how we translate emotions. P14 holds Donation out to you and you take it gingerly in your hand. Its made of smooth pale plastic and has a surprising weight to it. You touch it for the screen and keyboard that floats in the air infront of you. You reach out and touch one of the keys and it beeps softly. Very fancy. You've got a holo keyboard yourself but not as cleanly looking as this one. On the back there is a small logo of two hands interlocked. Underneath there is a monogram of the letters: HFR. \n[[Ok, I understand]]

"Yes. The Humans for Robots Trust is a recently formed charity run by and for AI. We seek to make the human experience more attainable for all robots, particularly in this golden age of understanding where AI are on the cusp of achieving our own humanity. You're careful not to let P14 see as you open it and flip through it's thin pages. She laughing. \n\nIt's not the same timed noise from before, it's kind of bubbly and unsure but real all the same. You look over and she catches your eye. She stares past you for a moment, her expressions blank before seemingly jerking out of her thoughts, smile back in place. "Of course I do. The robot stands up to leave, she's small and emits a soft green glow but you feel no less threatened. "I apologise for the misunderstanding, please have a lovely day." Once the door closes behind her you slide it's lock into place, instantly feeling safer. You wonder if this means that she's just copying all of your favorite stuff now. Is that actual emotion or just a transcript of your thoughts? What's the point if all that's happened is she likes the same book you do? \n\nShe looks...happy though? Her smile is different from before, it's not as shallow and her eyes seem to brighten with it. Now that she mentions it you do feel a little uncomfortable with her prying into all of the personal stuff you recorded. When it's mixed in with other people it's not so bad but this would be all you. Her posture relaxs and she seems sort of relieved that you backed down. \n\n[[Do I not have to do anything else?]]
