At the docks fisherman prepare their nets to go fishing. The farmers are out tending their fields. You sleep peacefully in your home, your mother bakes a meal for you. The sun peeks in through the window as the birds chirp and sing their songs. A loud war cry breaks the tranquil spell over the village. Out of the forest run bandits. They are clad in simple leather armor. Many of the villagers pick up swords or weapons and go to fight these bandits. You awaken. Outside you see many villagers being slaughtered by the bandits. Very few of the villagers are combat trained. The village is not under Sparta's control so they felt no need to constantly train. The bandits light homes on fire and pillage the town, several of the bandits shoot flaming arrows at the docks igniting the ships. They attack without mercy. However, they also seem to be holding back for some reason. Many of the bandits stand around the village without entering the village. The flames engulf your mother. As you walk deeper into your village you see even more of the bandits savagery. They attack mercilously. The villagers homes burn and many are dead. However, the bandits seem to be pushing the villagers towards the coast as much as possible. The civilians are confused by the bandits retreat. When all of a sudden out of the forest barrels a five headed hydra. It knocks over trees and crashes into the village. The reptilian beast spits acid at the villagers. The acid kills a few villagers. The villagers with weapons charge the beast but before they can even get near it the hydra uses its long necks to launch them into the forest. In the center of the clearing is a beautiful woman sitting on a rock. She has long braided brown hair, olive skin, and a simple but elegant toga. This woman is giving you a strange vibe. She feels like a mother but also like a vengeful person. A hawk flies to a nearby tree and perches there. Her eyes stare deeply into you making you feel very little. Every instinct of yours tells you to run but you feel as though you are stuck in place. You slide under it and try to cut its under belly with your sword, but your rusted sword has no effect on its scales. As you get out from under the hydra it grabs you by your legs and throws you into a building. You crash through the wall of the building. Through the hole you made in the wall you can see the hydra destroy what was left of the village. It eats the villagers or disolves them. As you get close to the hydra you feel that you confidently deciphered how it attacks. You also determine your weapon will have no effect on the hydra. You attempt to find a better weapon but it's too late the hydra has already noticed you. With a surprising quickness it charges you. You manage to use your knowledge of the hydra's attacks to help you survive, but you miscalculate slightly and the hydra manages to hit you. It launches you into a nearby building. You crash through the wall of the building. Through the hole you made in the wall you can see the hydra destroy what was left of the village. It eats the villagers or disolves them. He has a crown made of sea shells and a toga that shifts through different colors of blue. In his right hand he holds a trident. You recognize this man as Poseidon, god of the oceans and storms. As the light continues to fade you realize you are now standing on a tropical beach. The beach extends up to a small field, then beyond the grass is a forest. Horses graze in the field. As you look towards the ocean in the distance you can see a storm. Poseidon approaches you. "Hello, $name," He says. He wears a crown seemingly made of lightning he wears a white toga with lightning streaking across it. In his left hand he holds a large metal lightning bolt. You recognize that he is the king of the gods, Zeus lord of lightning and the skies. As the light continues to fade you realize you are standing on a large thunder cloud. The peak of mountain sticks through the thunder cloud. A sparkling city is built on top of the mountain. Two Eagles are circling you. Zeus approaches you. "Hello, $name," He says. He wears a crown made of swirling souls he wears a Black toga with the souls of the tormented swirling around it. In his left hand he holds an obsidian helmet. You recognize that he is the ruler of the underworld, Hades lord of the dead and the riches of the Earth. As the light continues to fade you realize you are standing in a large dark throne room. The floor and walls seem to be made of pure obsidian. Skeletal soldiers stand guard in the room. Hades stands from his throne and approaches you. "Hello, $name," He says. You recognize that he is the god of war, Ares lord of combat and courage. As the light continues to fade you realize you are standing on a battlefield. You are surrounded by legions of soldiers. Small braziers burn around you. Ares approaches you. "Hello, $name," He says. As the light continues to fade you realize you are standing in a large marble building lined in marbel columns. An olive tree stands in the center of the building. An owl perches on it. Athena approaches you. "Hello, $name," she says. [["Where are we?"->WAWAthena]]"This is a vision, $name," Poseidon says, "I have brought you to a special island of mine. I felt it was time that I spoke to you my child." You awoke on the beach of your village completely unscathed. The whole village was amazed that you had somehow survived. His clothes darken to the gray of storm clouds. You hear the horses behind you get agitated as a storm rolls in. "We both need this," Poseidon says, "We need vengeance." The Earth shakes. "I want vengeance on the bandits for death of your mother," He says. [["I also seek vengeance."->Poseven]] "Good, when you awaken go seek a magical weapon in Mount Gaia," Poseidon says, as an image of a cave appears in front of you. "Then find a magical armor hidden by a lake near a town to the west," he says, as an image of a foggy lake appears in front of you. "I believe in your ability to find these artifacts," he says. Poseidon walks towards the ocean and then as he enters the ocean your vision darkens. You awaken in what remains of your village. You are covered in rubble from the building the hydra launched you into. You clean the rubble off of you and exit the building. (if: $motherdead is false)[ What's left of the village are smoldering ruins and the corpses of all the villagers. You find your mothers body among them. She is most certainly dead. Very little can be found however you manage to scavenge 100 Drachma. You can't manage to scavenge anything else. You feel this void could be filled by avenging her murder. (if:$hades is true)[ You walk to the body and can feel your mothers soul going to the underworld. You sense your father, Hades, has summoned her soul and granted her access to Elysium. ]\ (else:)[ You place a coin in her mouth for when she encounters Charon. Allowing her to pay the ferry tole to gain access to the underworld. You pray that she will gain access to Elysium. ]\ You stand and look around the village taking in the destruction and death. Infront of you stretches a long dirt road that goes deep into the forest heading North. In the distance to the North West is a mountain. You walk down the road for what seems like forever. Every so often you see deer grazing in the forest. At one point you see a manticore sleeping in a cave with it's cubs. Luckily the manticore does not wake up and attack you. You continue walking and reach a crossroads. There is a sign on the crossroads pointing left. The sign reads, "Agein Village." The road to the right seems to just lead into the forest. As the satyr went to stab you lightning fell from the sky killing the satyr. The blast knocked you out. When you awoke the villagers were amazed that you had somehow survived. He then also holds out a pair of sandals. "These sandals will make your footsteps quieter, so you can sneak up on someone even as your running," Hermes says, "I use a pair just like these all the time." His face changes to a bright red. He floats up into the air and raises his caduceus. "That was not a smart choice," he says, "For your idiocy and rudeness I'm going to punish you." (if:$hades is true)[ He turns his caduceus to you and your body feels light. You float up to Hermes. "Since you are the child of Hades I'll separate you from him," Hermes says. You continue to float up but Hermes stays near you. "Maybe you'll become a constellation I doubt it though," he says, "Goodbye, $name, enjoy eternity floating through the void." You float up into space. Some of the more vicious constellations like Cancer and Scorpio scurry to you and use you as a play thing. The snakes on it twist and turn. They hiss at you as a hole opens in the Earth. You fall into the darkness. Hermes flies next to you. Every so often the wind calms and you can hear the sounds of monsters. "Enjoy a hell that was reserved for only the worst of the worst," Hermes says, "Goodbye, $name, enjoy eternity facing monsters and beings that the gods themselves don't like to fight." The only light comes from the lava that surrounds you. Monsters prowl around in the dark. The ground is a weird almost fleshy material that is both solid and soft. In the distance you can see what look like humans that are normal sized but then there are others the size of mountains. You explore Tartarus but the poisonous air burns you and you grow dehydrated due to the lack of water. No matter how much pain you endure you don't die. Each monster and creature you encounter causes you pain but you will not die. You eventually encounter a piece of Cronos father of the gods. He bids you to collect his pieces and armies. So you help him, but it is a long and difficult journey. You may one day have your revenge on Hermes. That is another story to be told a different time. With the sun shining down it glints off of the large Hermes statue. This village is much larger than yours was. They have a huge marketplace and a large city center with a statue of Hermes, the god of commerce. The village also lays near the base of a mountain. You journey along the road, it takes you through a dense forest. On your right are some cliffs. As you continue on eventually you begin to hear the sound of music and a waterfall. You come across a river with a large waterfall crashing into it. Several nymphs are bathing while a magic lyre plays music all on it's own. In the field you see an out cropping of rocks. In the distance is the city Athanasias. Next to the outcropping of rocks you see a Chimera. You can tell its been trapped beneath some rocks. They continue their bathing and singing. As you watch them you can determine they are Naiads, river nymphs. They have some aquatic features and flow like a river. They quickly go to cover themselves but you express your need for a bath. They allow you to join them. You all sing and dance to the music as you bathe. You walk across the river. The nymphs see you but notice that you aren't paying attention to them. They go back to bathing and singing. You venture down the road through the lush forest. However, it looks like he used to have two horns but one was broken off. The man stares down at you. You determine it's the river god Achelous. What's attacking the city is not the bandits you're after nor is it the hydra. The attackers are a roving band of centaurs and satyrs. They pillage and destroy the city. The soldiers are having a hard time pushing them back. However, to your right you can see a path through the forest that should take you around the city safely. If you leave it will most likely die in a day or so. You throw your spear it bounces off the walls and surroundings going straight through the evil doers killing them. After you successfully quench your bloodlust the soldiers stare at you in shock. The red aura dissipates. You look above you and a symbol of Ares floats above you made from the red aura. You throw the trident at the center of centaurs and satyrs. You tell the soldiers to wait there while you go to help. At first the centaurs and satyrs are confused, but after a little bit they realise you're helping them. You continue to raid the town with them doing whatever you wish. At the end of the raid you've gained 200 Drachma. The centaurs and satyrs thank you for the help before returning to the forest. [[Leave the destroyed town]]You continue West. You journey through the forest. While you walk you encounter townspeople. They are covered in soot and crying. You question what's wrong. They tell you bandits attacked their home and have taken it over. They also mention that a hydra helped them. You thank them for the information and continue on the path west. Smoke rises above the treeline. You exit the forest and infront of you is a coastal village. It still smolders and burns from the recent attack. The bandits have made camp in the village. To your right you can see trees torn and crushed in a path through the forest. You can tell that is the path the hydra used to get into the village. However, you don't see the hydra anywhere in the village. [[Enter the Bandit camp]]You walk through the woods following the path. The unknown monster awaits you at the lake. The path infront of you becomes shrouded in fog. You continue through the fog eventually reaching Lake Dakroun. The lake is dark and surrounded by forest. Whisps of fog float across the lake. In the center of the lake is an island with a small shrine on it, a bridge leads to this island. A glowing light leaks out of the shrine. There is almost no sound at the lake. The only sound you can hear is that of a woman crying. "Ah, $name, truly the name of a hero," the elder says, "Well let us repay you. "Thank you, so much you saved us all," the townsperson says. The elder turns to townsfolk. "It's time to begin repairs," they say. As you get closer to the island you realise the marble sculptures are actually people turned to stone. As you enter the island you look to the woman who is crying. She has skin that is reptilian and a shade of green. Her hair is made of writhing snakes. You can tell this is the legendary Medusa. She cries while staring into the lake. You look at the shrine. You can see into the shrine and you see a suit of glowing armor with (if:$pose is true)[a horse](if:$zeus is true)[an eagle](if:$hade is true)[Cerberus](if:$ares is true)[a boar](if:$athena is true)[an owl] on it's breast plate. Her snakes his as they notice you but she doesn't turn to face you herself. As you raise your weapon to deliver the killing blow. She stops sobbing for a moment. "Do it demigod," Medusa says, "kill me send me back to Tartarus. I'm sick of living. I only wish you could end my immortality so I wouldn't be born again." She begins to sob again. You kill her instantly. One last tear falls from her eye into the lake. She collapses to the ground. Her body dissolves into mist and disappears. You stow your weapon and enter the shrine. You pick up the armor and feel the magical powers flow through you. You put on the armor and exit the shrine. When you step outside sunlight creeps through the clouds above and pushes away the mist. The stone people dissolve into dust and float away across the lake. You journey back to the crossroads. She says, "You won't put someone out of their misery!" She dashes infront of you with inhuman speed. She looks into your eyes. Your body suddenly feels cold and stiff. Slowly and painfully you feel your body turn to stone. It starts with your feet and the area around your eyes, but your eyes themselves don't turn to stone. "You'll be trapped here for as long as I am alive," Medusa says. Your body fully turns to stone. The last part to change are your eyes. The last image you see are tears streaking down Medusa's face. You are trapped there and nearly forgotten. Eventually Medusa is killed and your body disintegrates allowing your soul to journey into the underworld. You put on the armor and exit the shrine. When you get outside Medusa stands there. She has the cloth you gave her wrapped around her head as a blindfold. You can see how she at one point was so beautiful that she won the favor of Poseidon. "Your kindness has reminded me how the world isn't just darkness," Medusa says. She hugs you. You can feel the snakes on her head move around your arm but not bite you. She releases the embrace and lets you leave. You journey back to the crossroads. On the farside of the village near the coast you see a large tent and the rest of the camp. The bandits cheer and drink. They've piled all of their loot around the center of the village. [[Sneak to the bandits]] [[Charge at the bandits]] [[Plan an attack]](if:$stealth is >= 25)[You sneak up behind the bandits. You discover they have barrels of oil for torches near the center of the village. You walk up to these barrels and set the barrels up to explode. You journey around the village killing any bandits separated from the main group. You reach a main road. You look at the village center and your bomb goes off. Many of the bandits explode along with some buildings. At this point the bandits stop celebrating. They grab weapons and approach the area of the explosion. At this point you can tell you won't be able to sneak up on the bandits. [[Approach the bandits->explosionBandits]] ]\ (if:$stealth is < 25)[You sneak up to the bandits. Along the way you kill several of the bandits separated from the main group. You make your way to the center of the camp but before you make it there several bandits spot you and begin to shout. You reach the best point for you to begin your attack. At that precise moment your bomb goes off killing many of the bandits. It's time to begin your attack. Eventually you find barrels of fuel for the bandits torches. You set up the barrels to explode in a few minutes. You find a place you believe would be a good place to start your attack. The bandit leader smiles down on you as he raises his scimitar and chops your head off.
