Joseph Horak: About Me

My name is Joseph Horak and I'm a student game developer and 3D artist studying as an Arts and Entertainment Technologies student at UT Austin. I became interested with games when I got a Playstation 2 for christmas in 2007. I didn't know until I was older that the Playstation 3 had actually come out that year, but with games like Katamari Damacy and Star Wars Battlefront 2, I became obssessed with low poly art styles.

On most of my game projects I have worked as a designer and programmer, but I also love working as an artist whenever the project allows it. Although most of my 3D work are animations and renders seperate from my game work, I am excited to merge the two discplines in the future and with projects that I am currently developing.

Eventhough I don't have the experience or budget as a student to develop larger projects, I have found a lot of success participating in game jams. My team and I won the Best-in-Show award at the 2021 Texas Game Jam, as well as Best Overall in the UT Summer Stop n' Swap Jam, which is a student game jam for students in the UT system.

I am very passionate about my work and pour as much effort as I can into every project I take on. I hope to finish more larger scale projects while I am still an undergrad and am very excited for any opportunities I can get to make games once I graduate!
