<</if>><</if>>In the far off world of Someday, there was the Hundred-Acre-Wood. And in the Hundred-Acre-Wood, there was a city. And in the city, there lived a bear. That bear's name was Winnie-the-pooh. That name was given to him by a boy named Christopher Robin, but his friends called him "Pooh" for the sake of brevity.
Pooh started the day the same way he started every day: with his morning stretches. <<linkappend "He reached up to the ceiling,">> and then <<linkappend "down to touch his toes.">> <<linkappend "Up,">> then <<linkappend "down.">> <<linkappend "Up,">> then <<linkappend "down.">>

His stomach rumbling, Pooh opened his honey cupboard, and pulled out the first honeypot he saw. Inside, there were only a few heaping scoops worth of honey; enough for breakfast. Pooh happily guzzled down the honey, and then tossed the honeypot aside.

"Hello Pooh," said Piglet.
"Hello Piglet," said Pooh. "What are you doing?"
"You remember the other day, when Christopher Robin told us about how he saw a heffalump, and you said that you saw it too?"
"Yes, I remember," said Pooh, still wondering what a heffalump was. "I think Christopher Robin said he saw it somewhere in the subway tunnels."
"I'm trying to come up with a plan to catch it," Piglet explained. "That way, we might be able to explore the subway safely. The problem is, I don't know the first thing about Heffalumps. I have no idea where to start."
"Well, let's think." Pooh thought for a moment, then asked, "How would you catch me?"
"Oh, that's simple," Piglet said. "I'd leave a pot of honey in a room, surrounded by tripwire. I'd then let you find the honey, and you would walk into the tripwire, causing a net to drop from above, and trap you."
"A net?" Pooh mused. "I would've thought a hole would work just fine."
"I thought about that," said Piglet, "but there's hardly anywhere in the Wood where you can dig a hole. The pavement is too thick."
"Then I suppose we'll have to try the net," Pooh decided. "I'll help you set it up. I want to catch this heffalump as well."
"Thank you, Pooh!" said Piglet. "We'll need some <b>honey</b> for a lure, some <b>wire</b> to trigger the trap, and a <b>net</b> for the trap itself."
"How many of those do we have?" asked Pooh.
"Right now, we have nothing," said Piglet.
"Then I suppose I'll have to go and get what we need," Pooh said. "You can go prepare the location for our trap."
"Good idea," said Piglet. "I suggest you start with Rabbit. He's always got plenty of supplies. I'll meet you at the subway entrance."<<set $helpingPiglet = true>>

The yard was surrounded by chain-link fence, which Pooh presumed was to prevent people from falling off of Pooh Tower. However, there was a gate that allowed Pooh to use [[the stairway that led down the side of the tower|Pooh Tower]].

The city park consisted of a single tree, which had grown so large and thick that it nearly took up the entire block, surrounded by several much smaller trees.
Pooh heard a distinct buzzing noise. He looked up, and to his delight, he could spot a cloud of bees swarming in front of a cavity midway up the tree - undoubtedly a [[beehive]].

"Winnie-the-pooh. Rabbit, are you home?"

"Have you tried looking out the window?" Pooh suggested.
After a moment, he saw Rabbit appear in the window next to the front door. "Oh, hello, Pooh," Rabbit said through the phone. "One moment."
Rabbit opened the door, and hurriedly bounded over to meet Pooh at the front gate. "What can I do for you?"
"Piglet and I are making a heffalump trap," Pooh explained. "But we need some-"
"Stop," Rabbit interrupted. "Why are you wasting your time trying to catch a heffalump? There's no such thing as heffalumps."
"But Christopher Robin said that he saw one," said Pooh.
"Christopher Robin says a lot of things," said Rabbit. "Doesn't necessarily mean that they're all true."

"Lies, lies, lies! There are no heffalumps around here!"
"But if there is, how can you be so sure that the heffalump won't climb up this tree and take your honey? Heffalumps are much bigger and scarier than bears, you know."
"Don't be silly! Heffalumps can't climb trees!"
"Really? Have you seen one before?"
The queen bee hesitated. "No, but I've heard about them from other queen bees. Have YOU seen a heffalump?"
"Of course I have," Pooh bluffed. "So I argue you can trust me when I say that your honey will be in greater danger if you don't help us with our trap."
The queen bee said nothing as she stood in thought. Finally, she held her arm straight up (or perhaps more accurately, straight down), and the other bees ceased attacking Pooh.
"Thank you," said Pooh.
"Don't thank me yet," said the queen. "I'll let you take some honey for your heffalump trap, but you must give me something first."

He heard something grunt and moan. Then, the heffalump tumbled out from behind the corner, wrapped in Rabbit's net. It was more terrifying than Piglet had imagined - its head was shaped like a cylindrical block, and it had no face.
Piglet didn't think to get a better look at the heffalump before he screamed and ran out of the subway. When he turned back, he was relieved to see that the heffalump hadn't chased after him.

"Pooh, wake up!" Piglet cried. "There's a heffalump in the subway! The trap didn't work!"
Pooh did not answer.
"Pooh? Are you there?"

Piglet entered the city park, and spotted the beehive midway up the biggest tree. He climbed up to the hive, and was greeted by a swarm of bees, including the queen.
"We recognize you," she said. "You're friends with that bear who kept stealing our honey. You're not here for more, are you? We already gave up plenty for that heffalump trap."
"Actually, I need your help," Piglet explained. "I saw the heffalump in the subway, and the trap didn't work like we thought. So I need someone to help me capture it--"
"Nope," said the queen. "Out of the question. Sorry, but I've heard many nasty things about heffalumps. If any of them are true, I won't risk any of my bees to fight it."
"I understand," said Piglet. "I'll take my leave now."
Just before Piglet began to [[climb back down|street night]], he asked, "By the way, do you know who 'Law' is?"
"No, why do you ask?" the queen replied.
"There was a sign that said that the city park was protected by Law. I was wondering if you knew him, since you live in this tree."
"Oh, THAT Law," said the queen. "I think he was one of the old city people. He might have disappeared along with the rest of them, so that sign may no longer be correct."
"I see," said Piglet. "Thanks anyway."Piglet ran all the way to Christopher Robin's hideout, and knocked on the door like his life depended on it.
"Christopher Robin!? Are you there!? Please! I need your help!"
"I'm right here. What's wrong, Piglet?"
Piglet turned to see that Christopher Robin was standing right behind him, carrying his backpack full of tools and things that he had scavenged from the city.
"Christopher Robin! There's a heffalump in the subway, just like you said! Pooh and I tried to catch it, but the trap didn't work, and now I'm afraid that it will come after us, and--"
Christopher Robin knelt down and put a hand on Piglet's shoulder. "Calm down. Is the heffalump still in the subway?"

"Okay," said Christopher Robin. "I have my gun. [[Let's go and catch that heffalump together.]] Just show me where it is."<img src = Images/RabbitYardNight.png />
Piglet hiked all the way to Rabbit's hill outside of the city.
When he reached the fence, Piglet wasted no time hopping into the phone booth and dialing Rabbit's number, hoping he'd be awake.
"Hello?" said a tired Rabbit through the phone. "Who's there?"
"It's me, Piglet! I need your help! Pooh and I set up our heffalump trap, and--"

"There it is!" cried Piglet. "That's the heffalump!"
"That's not a heffalump," said Christopher Robin. "That's Pooh with his head stuck in a honeypot!"
He holstered his gun, helped Pooh out of the net, and pulled the honeypot off of his head.
"Pooh!" said Piglet. "What were you doing in our heffalump trap!?"
"Well, you see," Pooh explained. "I had a nightmare that the heffalumps were stealing my honey, then I woke up with the midnight rumblies. So I went to get some honey from my pantry. But there wasn't any honey left. Then I remembered that we put a honeypot in our heffalump trap, and I thought no one would mind if I took just a lick or two of honey..."
Christopher Robin hugged him. "You silly old bear," he said. "Honey's always on your mind, isn't it?"
"So," Piglet said, "does this mean that there is no Heffalump?"
"But Christopher Robin said that he saw one in the subway!" Pooh argued.
"I did see a Heffalump," Christopher Robin confirmed. "But they might not be here anymore. And even if they were, I don't think they would like to be lured into traps with honey."
"But what do we do if we spot a heffalump in the city again?" Piglet asked.
"It may be best to leave it alone," said Christopher Robin. "Heffalumps are solitary creatures, after all. They'll show themselves when they are ready to."
"In that case," said Pooh, "[[I suggest we leave.]]"And so, the three of them left the subway, and went home.
It wasn't until noon the next day that Pooh remembered that they had left his honeypot and Rabbit's net in the subway. But when he and Piglet went down to get them, they could only find the net. The honeypot was nowhere to be found.
