This is a fictional story, not based on anyone's life, but a culmination of statistics from Black and Pink's *Coming out of Concrete Closets* survey results. The author has never been incarcerated nor has any close family members who have been. She is a white queer woman; her privilege gives her the choice of when to interact with the criminal punishment system. For many black and indigenous people as well as other people of color, they cannot decide to interact with the criminal punishment system as they are systemically policed. It was built to show the mundanity of the prison system, but it also clearly is not a totally accurate representation. You can finish the game within a year of in-game 'days,' but it extends for ten times that length, which is the amount of time some transgender woman are sentenced to prison for. Some for less time and some for more time. Additionally, while incarcerated transgender woman experience the repeated challenges and denials with getting hormones featured in this game, it can be a much longer process for them.
