but nothing happens. The storm must have blown out the power.
Small pinpricks of fear burn behind your eyes as you look out desperatly into the blackness.

Carefully you reach one foot out from under the blankets and step onto the old wooden floor *creek*. You slowly make your way over to the other side of the room arms again outstretched. Your fingers brush against fabric, and you urgently grasp at it, pulling. *swish* Moonlight floods the small room as the curtains give way, revealing rainsoaked windowpanes. *rain sounds*
The light offers some relief, but your pulse continues to rip through your chest in jagged and uneven patterns. You need to get this under control.
You turn towards your mirror and stare into your wide-eyed reflection.
"Just relax, there's nothing to be afraid of."
Messy and unbrushed hair frames your frightened face and kitty cat patterned pajamas cling to your damp skin. A chill creeps into your bones and you shiver.

You slow to a stop and sit on the edge of your bed. The dim light from the moon does little to calm you. You reach for your lamp once again... *click* but it stays dark and the storm continues to howl outside your window.
Sitting in bed, scared and alone, all night long isn't going to make anything better. You need to get up and do something to make yourself feel okay again.
Before you descide to get up and leave the safety of your room you may need to take a minute to breath and get back in touch with your inner voice so you can hear when it's signaling you to do something.
If you need to reconnect and remind yourself press the left arrow key. When given a choice the left arrow key will always select the first option.

You begin to take small and careful steps headin left towards the staircase. your stomach dips horribly as your foot catches nothing but empty air and you balance precariously on one leg. *Thud* you land hard on the first step but manage to grab the railing to steady yourself.
You have to pry your white knickled grip away from the railing and take a deep breath *breathing noise* before you can continue downwards.
You head downstairs and each step creaks under your weight causing you to winse. You REALLY hope you don't wake anyone up tonight.

The hand rips away, bringing the curtain crashing down after it. And you look up just in time to see the flash of a large... something... running off towards whatever had disturbed the silence.

You scan your room, but it's small and there's nowhere to hide inside of it. But that measly lock isn't enough and you begin to push and shove and pile everything you own in front of it. *crashing shoving scraping piling sounds*
Exausted you fall back onto your bed, the only thing you weren't strong enough to move. You lay there as the adrenlaine flees your system leaving you cold and completely exausted. Your eyes flutter as you fight to stay conscious, but soon they become to heavy and you fall into unconsciousness.

You blink your eyes open and bright morning light, unimpeded by blackout curtains illuminates the alarming wreckage of your room.
Fuzzy, terror tinged memories float to the surface... but they must have been an nightmare? An ovverreaction to the storm? In the daylight it all seems so implausible.
You manage to shift your belongings just enough to squeeze through the door. As you walk downstairs the smell of pancakes makes your mouth water.
"hey mom" you call out in a horse voice. "Hey sweetie" two voices answer in perfect unison and you roll your eyes at the cheesy response.
You sit down at the table and a heaping pile of pancakes lands right in front of you. You look up and are met with... an apologetic grimace? Your mom slams down her paper and stares daggers... at the woman who just made us a delicious breakfast? Confused you look back and forth between them wondering if you're somehow in trouble for all the mess you made last night. You figure you better enjoy the good day while it lasts and bury the memories of last night in bite after wonderful bite of blueberry pancakes.

You reach up to push the window open so the steam doesn't fill the small room and then strip off your pajamas before eagerly stepping into the tub to let the hot water wash the tight coils from your muscles.

You flatten your body against the smooth porcelin tub bracing for impact. Light fluttering sounds rush above your head and you slowly look up in confusion. A small black shape moves in tight spastic circles above your head... it... it's just a bat.
You quickly wrap yourself in a towel and head back towards your room, hoping the small creature will simply leave the way it came. That wasn't the relaxing experience you were hoping for, but your skin feels clean not clammy as you crawl underneath your covers and sleep soon overwhelms you

A black fluttering shape barrels straight at your through the steamy air. Panicked you shriek and twist away from it, but the wet porcelin of the tub becomes slick underneath feet that become unstable beneath you. The world tilts on it's access as you crash sideways.
A sharp slicing pain exploades behind your eyes and a black tunnel begins to eclipse your vision until you see nothing at all.

You pad through the living room and into the kicthen. The sounds of the storm become loud again and switling shadows dance eerily on the walls as moonlight trickles down throught the trees that sway and bow in the harsh wind.
You have to stand on your tip toes to reach the water glasses in the cabinet, but manage to bring one down without breaking anything. Turning to the sink you fill up the small glass *water rushing sound* and drink greedly until the final drop slides out onto your tongue. You fill the glass a second time, but take only small slow sips of this one.
You turn, leaning back against the counter, mesmarized by the swirling vortex of shadows. Your stomach rumbles and you glance towards the refridgerator to your left... tempting.
You ponder if you should prepare a late night snack... or be responsible and return to your room.

compelled by hunger you pull open the door to the refridgerator. The dark space is still cold, but you hope the power returns before things begin to spoil.
You grab an apple from the bottom shelf and quickly shut the door to keep as much cool air in as possible.
A loud creaking sound *creaking sound* startles you and the apple slips from your grasp, thudding againt the floor by your feet

The night sky has ever so slightly begun to pale, giving way to the qualities of early morning. You can wait for breakfast, it seems it's not so far off.
Water in hand you begin to head back towards your room. You enter the living room making your way to the foot of the staircase when you hear it.
"Honey, why are you up sp late? Come back to your room" Your mom's voice drifts down from the upstairs hallway, you must have bee louder than you thought.
You're about to oblige her when a hand slams down on your shoulder
A wordless scream forces your jaw open and the glass slips from your hand *glass breaking*
"Don't go up there, I heard that too" The voice of your mother sounds from just behind you.

After what feels like an eternity the door begins to open once more and your breath catches in your chest as you wait to see what's going to be behind it.
Your mom reaches out one hand the other holding a finger tight to her lips. You clasp it tightly, letting her pull you from the small cramped space.
Quickly she leads you out of the house and into the car. The engine revs and and she throws the car into s sharp reverse a hulking figure appears in the thershold of your house... one that you almost recognize...
