You open your eyes and feel your head throbbing.
"How long are we going to keep--"
"Shhh look, #47 is finally awake!"
As your vision fades in, you realize you're standing in front of a sealed door. Attached to the door is a number pad.
"Hello there! You can't see us right now but you'll just have to trust us. Try inputting a passcode to open that door."
You don't know where the voices are coming from, but it sounds like they are waiting on your next move.
(input-box:2bind $passcode,"==X==",1)
[[Submit->Divergence]](if:$passcode is "4827658")[The lights in the room suddenly turn a bright green.
"Ahh well I guess they needed more time to reflect..."
"Haha very funny, I don't thi-- WAIT--"
The door in front of you opens, revealing a white lit room.
"IT ACTUALLY WORKED! YOU'RE A GENIUS!"
You walk into the room and see that there are 49 other circular chambers lining the perimeter of the room, exactly like the one you just exited.
"I KNEW IT! I TOLD YOU IT'D WORK EVENTUALLY! We just needed to keep trying with different subjects!"
"Hey John! When you're done with the cleanup, head up here. We've got something cool to show you!"
[[Keep listening->Questions]]](else:)[The lights in the room suddenly turn a sharp red, and a gate swiftly falls in front of the door, sealing it off completely.
"Ahh well I guess they needed more time to reflect..."

Before you can register what happened or what you just heard, you are falling down a dark chute, and land feet first into a pool of water. After looking around, you notice that you are once again in an enclosed area, but this time there is a ladder built into the east wall, leading up to a passageway with the door wide open. You also see something shining at the bottom of the water.
[[Swim to the ladder->Ladder]]
[[Swim to the shining object->Number 46]]]You swim toward the ladder, and as you are climbing up, you hear rapid shuffles in the water below. You see a white mist of bubbles surface from the bottom of the pool, followed by a deep red. Realizing that could very well have been you, you look away and continue climbing, as tense as ever.
[[Climb to the passage->Janitor]]You swim down to get a better look at the shining object in the water and notice that it is a small metal tag with "#46" engraved into it. To your horror, you realize that the tag is attached to the body of a decaying individual, whose face and body are chewed beyond recognition.
As if on cue, you hear rapid shuffles in the water, and realize that at least thirty piranhas are headed directly for you. Without having any time to act, the piranhas start ripping at your flesh. You open your mouth to scream in agony, but instead get a mouthful of water and blood. You slowly lose consciousness, unsure of which came first, drowning or getting eaten alive.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]Once you climb up to the passage, you stare ahead in horror. Leaning against the wall is a decaying and partially eaten body. The body is still recognizable, and looks to be a janitor of some sort. Not too far from the body is a dead piranha lying on the floor. Next to the piranha, you see the following words written in blood:
"Good luck #47"
[[Inspect the body->Keys]]
[[Keep walking->No Keys]]Upon inspecting the body, you notice a keyring with two keys in the jacket's chest pocket. You grab the keyring, figuring it could be useful later, and continue down the passage.
(set: $keys to true)
[[Continue->F1 Fork]]Not wanting anything to do with that body, you continue walking down the passage, as if you didn't see a thing.
(set: $keys to false)
[[Continue->F1 Fork]]As you continue to walk, you reach the end of the hallway and see two paths forward. There is a small elevator to the left, and a staircase to the right. Based on the floor meter above the elevator, it looks like it can go between floors B through 4. However, a sign on the staircase states that it only goes up to Floor 3.
[[Enter the elevator->Elevator]]
[[Enter the staircase->F1 Staircase]]Once inside the elevator, you immediately realize from the interior that it is very old and fragile. There are cracks in the walls, and a large tile missing from the ceiling. In fact, the space is large enough that you could climb through if you wanted to.
As you are considering this, another peculiarity catches your eye. A small sign is perched in the corner of the elevator, but you can't quite make out the text on it.
[[Inspect the sign->Capacity]]
[[Climb through the ceiling->A Way Up]]
[[Go to the elevator buttons->Buttons]]Once inside the stairway, you see that you can take the stairs up to the next floor, or down to the basement floor.
[[Go up the stairs->Ascension 1]]
[[Go down the stairs->Descending 1]]As you pull yourself up on top of the elevator, you see that the next floor isn't too high up from here, and you could probably make it just by jumping to the doors. However, you also consider that you can climb up the wire to make it to one of the higher floors.
[[Jump to the doors->Leap of Faith]]
[[Climb the wire->Wire Crash]]You walk up to the corner and crouch down to read the sign.
"Maximum Capacity: 5 people per elevator"
That's good to know.
[[Climb through the ceiling->Capacity Crash]]
[[Go to the elevator buttons->Capacity Crash]]You go to press the buttons and see 4 options:
B: Furnace
1: Shipment Zone (Which is apparently the floor you are currently on)
2: Exit
3: Observation Deck
4: Lab
You think about which floor you should go to...
[[Furnace->Buttons Crash]]
[[Exit->Buttons Crash]]
[[Observation Deck->Buttons Crash]]
[[Lab->Buttons Crash]]Just as you are about to press the button, you hear a loud creaking and then a SNAP! The elevator starts plummetting with you in it, with the lights flashing on and off. As you are falling, you look in the corner of your eye and notice in between flashes of light that there is another person in here with you, sitting in the corner. As you try to make out the features, the elevator hits the bottom floor at an incredible speed, and your mind instantly goes to black.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]Before you can even get back up, you hear a loud creaking and then a SNAP! The elevator starts plummetting with you in it, with the lights flashing on and off. As you are falling, you hold onto the two walls of the elevator in your corner to try and stabilize yourself. However, before you can get a good grip, the elevator hits the bottom floor at an incredible speed, and your mind instantly goes to black.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]As you run and take a leap, you hear a loud creaking and then a SNAP! You grab onto the doors and pull them open, managing to crawl safely onto the floor. You turn around and peer down the elevator shaft, but only see complete darkness. You keep looking down, anxiously, until you finally hear a distant crash. Relieved at another close call, you turn back around and see the staircase in front of you and a hallway to the right.
[[Take the stairs->Slammed]]
[[Go down the hallway->Anti-Anti-Entangled]]As you start to get a good grip, you hear a loud creaking and then a SNAP! The elevator starts plummetting with you on top of it, holding a loose piece of the wire in your hand. As you are falling, you look up and notice a small head peering down at you from the doors you saw earlier. As the elevator falls, the person's face becomes smaller and smaller until the elevator finally hits the bottom floor, making your mind instantly go black.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]As you continue down the passage, you come to a fork. A sign on the wall says the following:
Left: Elevator
Right: Shipment Zone
[[Walk left->Footsteps]]
[[Walk right->Surgery]]You decide to walk left toward the elevator in hopes that it can help you figure out where you are. However, as you are walking, you hear footsteps coming from straight ahead. Now panicking, you look around for any possible way out of the situation and notice a door to your right with the word "JANITOR" displayed on it.
[[Charge forward->Charge]]
[[Try the door->Closet]]
[[Run backwards->Retreat]]You decide to walk right toward the shipment zone. As you are walking, you reach a small white room with a large table in the center. There are surgery tools spread out along the table and on countertops against the walls. There are also 3 empty crates sitting next to the table. Feeling uneasy about this room, you decide to keep walking in search of a way out.
[[Continue->Packaging]]As you charge straight ahead, you see a man turn the corner.
"What the hell?"
You see him fire 3 bullets, and your vision begins to go hazy.
"Where the hell is John? Now I gotta clean up this mess?"
As the man begins to walk toward you. You begin to lose consciousness and know that even if your wound wasn't fatal, this man wouldn't let you live much longer anyways. Your vision goes black.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]](if:$keys is true)[You try to open the door but realize it is locked. Remembering that you picked up the keyring earlier, you try one of the keys and turn the knob.
It doesn't work.
Panicking, you flip to the second key and try this one, now turning the knob frantically.
It works.
You run into the closet and lock the door behind you from the inside.
"What the hell?"
You hear 3 gunshots.
"Where the hell is John? Now I gotta clean up this mess?"
You hear the knob turning rapidly from the outside, but the door does not open.
"Of course... Hey Mitch, we have an infestation situation over here. Make sure none of them make it past the catwalk."
You listen to him drag something down the hall toward the direction you came from, and keep listening until you no longer hear footsteps. Finally able to breathe again, you exit the closet and continue down the hallway.
[[Continue->How to Ascend]]](else:)[You try to open the door but realize it is locked. As panic fills your entire body, you keep turning the knob, hoping for it open somehow.
"What the hell?"
Now shaking and breathing heavily, you keep twisting the knob, but it is to no avail. You hear the man fire 3 bullets, and immediately slump down as one hits you right in your head. At least it was quick.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]]You turn around and start running back the way you came.
"What the hell?"
You hear those words behind you, followed by the sound of 3 bullets being fired, and feel the last one hit you in the back.
"Where the hell is John? Now I gotta clean up this mess?"
You are now on the floor, unable to move. You hear footsteps getting closer and closer, but you are not able to stay conscious to hear them reach you. Your vision goes black.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]As you enter the next room, you immediately notice that the walls here are much darker in color. A quick look around confirms your fears. You see several open crates on the floor of the room. Each crate is half-filled with different items, ranging from bones to organs to dog tags. Now feeling completely sick you walk to the back of the room and see another door. On the wall to the left, there is a closed metal hatch that looks just big enough for you to fit through.
[[Enter the door->Shipment]]
[[Enter the hatch->Furnace]]Unlike the previous rooms, this next room opened up into a much wider area with a higher ceiling. You look up and see a catwalk running above you. Closed crates are stacked up high all over the floor and against the walls. You continue walking and see that there is a large truck pointing toward a large garage door, but the door is completely shut.
Before you can keep looking around, you hear a large metal SLAM come from the previous room and instinctively jump to hide behind a few nearby crates.
[[Wait->Take 1]]You walk up to the metal hatch and pull it open. You peer into it, but only see darkness stretching downward indefinitely.
"That's the furnace, where we get rid of any worthless materials."
Hearing the voice right behind you, you turn around, but are not quick enough to react. The man pushes you into the hatch, and it slams shut above you. As you descend, you feel it getting warmer and warmer. The air becomes so thick with smoke and heat that you can no longer breathe. Hoping to pass out before reaching the bottom, you close your eyes and await your fate.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]"Alright, I know you've gotta be in here. There's nowhere else to run to."
You hear a voice coming from the direction you entered. You look around frantically for a way out and see the garage door control panel across the room. However, in order to get to it, you'd have to run out in the open away from the crates.
[[Run for the panel->Shot 1]]
[[Wait->Take 2]]You make a break for it, but are immediately shot down. Perhaps this was not the smartest decision to make.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]You stay behind the crates, not wanting to risk being seen. However, the sound of a gunshot startles you.
"I know you're still behind those crates! You can't keep hiding!"
You look around more and notice that the catwalk above you leads to an open doorway above the garage door. You scan the crates and see that there is a way to climb them up to the catwalk, but it would be risky to run out in the open and make an attempt.
[[Run for the panel->Shot 2]]
[[Run for the catwalk->Shot 2]]
[[Wait->Take 3]]You do not budge from your hiding spot, still waiting for a better opportunity to make your move. You hear another gunshot.
"I REALLY don't have the time or the ammo for this right now!"
[[Run for the panel->Shot 3]]
[[Run for the catwalk->Shot 3]]
[[Wait->Shot 3]]You make a break for it, but are immediately shot down. Perhaps this was not the smartest decision to make.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]Before you can even make a decision, you realize that the man has been walking closer to you the whole time and is now right in front of you. Before any sound can escape your mouth, you are shot at point blank and immediately lose all of your senses.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]You go forward and start to push open the door to the staircase when suddenly, the door SLAMS shut, knocking you backwards. You try to regain your balance, but its no use. You back up far too much and fall down the empty elevator shaft. Not wanting to think about what just happened, you close your eyes and prepare for the end.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]Not wasting any time, you start sprinting across the catwalk for the door.
"Hey Mitch, there's one on the catwalk! I'm out of ammo! Shoot him down for me, I know you can see him from up there!"
You hear the voice coming from the ground floor below, but you don't stop sprinting. Suddenly, you hear a gunshot come from above and look to the top right. Standing in front of a large window is the silhouette of a man. You quickly turn your head back to where you're going and gather as much strength as you can to keep running. You hear a second gunshot followed by the sound of glass breaking. You collapse, halfway across the catwalk, and can feel your blood dripping down to the floor below.
"Alright good shot! I'll clean this one up and meet you up there."
Those are the last words you hear before your consciousness fades.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]You start climbing the stairs and realize that it is two flights of stairs between every floor. Wishing you had done more cardio beforehand, you reach the top of the first flight and look up despairingly.
[[Continue->F2 Staircase]]You decide to go down the stairs to see what is in the basement. You are grateful that it is easier to walk down flights of stairs than it is to walk up.
[[Continue->Descending 2]]You finally reach the top of the second flight and see that you can exit on this floor or keep climbing to the next one. However, before you can make a decision, you notice that the door to exit the staircase starts to open! Having only a few seconds to react, you think about your options.
[[Slam the door shut->Slam]]
[[Run up the stairs->Ascension 2 Early]]Wanting to ensure that whoever is behind that door doesn't bother you, you run up to the door and SLAM it shut with all of your strength. You keep pushing the door for a few seconds to ensure that the person behind the door has given up and will not reopen the door.
When you sense that it is now quiet, you make your way up the stairs cautiously, knowing that it's better to avoid using that door.
[[Continue->Ascension 2]]Not wanting to deal with whoever is behind the door, you run up the stairs as fast as you can. You are already tired from the first flight, but after hearing a loud SLAM come from the door below, your newfound adrenaline helps you get to the top of the next flight.
[[Continue->Untimely Encounter]]You finally reach the top of the staircase and see a door leading to the 3rd floor. Not having anywhere else to go, you exit through the door, and come face to face with another man.
"Well this is not good..."
As he says those words, you go deaf from his gunshot, as numbness overtakes your whole body.
"Talk about good timing!"
You feel yourself being dragged, but do not remain conscious enough to know where you are being taken to.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]As you are ascending the next flight of stairs, you hear a gunshot. You pause for a few seconds, and then slowly make your way to the top of the final flight.
[[Continue->F3 Fork]]Once you are at the top, you see that there is only a door, and no more flights of stairs leading up. Very carefully, you open the door and peek out to make sure nobody is around. After realizing that whoever shot the gun is gone, you walk out into the hallway and see two paths ahead:
Left: Observation Deck
Right: Camera Room
You also notice a trail of blood from the staircase entrance lead toward the path on the right.
[[Walk left->Open Book]]
[[Walk right->Camera Room]]You walk to the left and reach a room with a large glass window replacing the wall farthest from you. As you walk up to the window, you see various books and reports scattered all over the nearby tables and bookshelves.
Looking out of the window, you see that this room overlooks a large area on the floor below, containing several crates stacked up, seemingly being prepared for shipment. Above the ground floor is a catwalk stretching from left to right.
On the desk in front of the window, you see that one of the books is open, and there are several notes taken in the margins.
[[Read book->Last Words]]You follow the trail of blood directly to the camera room, and quietly press your ear against the door to check if anyone is in the room.
"Yeah it looks like Floor 1 is all clear, so you can just clean up and start heading back. I had a small hiccup on the 3rd and 4th floor, but its been dealt with...Yeah sure I'll check my floor just to be safe, and then we can see about Floor 2..."
As you hear those words, you look around and notice a camera in the top right corner of the hallway. Before you can make any moves, the door opens behind you, and you feel the gunshot hit your back.
"It's a good thing I checked. Now to deal with that other one..."
As you hear those words, you slowly lose consciousness, left to bleed out on the floor.

[[Replay?->Awake]]//--but since the state of the cat is entangled with the state of its environment, when averaged over the possible quantum states of the environment the resulting mixed quantum state for the cat is very close to a classical probabilistic state where the cat has some definite probability to be dead or alive, just as a classical observer would expect in this situation.//
Next to this sentence, you see a written note:
//Anti-entanglement??//
Before you can keep reading, you hear a loud gunshot, and you start to feel yourself fading. You can no longer hear anything except the ringing in your ears. Your vision slowly fades to black...
But before you are completely gone, you hear a voice whisper in your ear:
"The passcode is 4827658"
Knowing this information, you feel a wave of relief spread across your body, and can finally rest easily.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]As you walk down the hallway, you see that it leads straight to a door that says "Cleansing Room". You enter the door and as you walk into the room, steel gates drop down to cover both, the door you entered through, and the door on the opposite side of the room.
Looking around, you see that the room is small, airtight, and completely empty, except for a button at the center of the room. Seeing no other options, you press the button and hear a robotic voice:
"Cleansing initiated. Please remain completely inside the cleansing room until the procedure is complete."
The room fills with a slight hazy gas, but you do not feel anything particularly unordinary happening. After a few seconds, the gas dissipates, and the gate ahead of you opens.
"Cleansing complete. Please proceed to the stimulant room to ensure that the cleansing was successful."
[[Proceed->Stimulant]]You continue forward and enter another small room. Once again, steel gates drop down to cover both, the door you entered through, and the door on the opposite side of the room. However, you notice that in this room, there are two paintings, one on each side of the room. The painting on the left depicts a man with the right half of his body being disintegrated and blown away as dust. The painting on the right depicts a 3x3 grid with a different person or group of people in each cell.
[[Inspect the left painting->Left Art 1]]
[[Inspect the right painting->Right Art 1]]You inspect the painting on the left and immediately notice the man's bright green eyes staring directly forward. You also realize that the "dust" you saw previously are actually small shards or memories flying off of the man. Looking closely, you see that each shard contains a smaller image of a scene that seems to be related to the man in the focus of the art.
[[Inspect the right painting->Right Art 2]]You inspect the painting on the right and quickly realize that the characters portrayed in each cell aren't actually human. Each cell contains personified animals, each with different occupations. Among the cells you see a gorilla doctor, dog policemen, and a shady looking hedgehog.
[[Inspect the left painting->Left Art 2]]You inspect the painting on the right and quickly realize that the characters portrayed in each cell aren't actually human. Each cell contains personified animals, each with different occupations. Among the cells you see a gorilla doctor, dog policemen, and a shady looking hedgehog.
"Test complete! The cleansing was successful. You may proceed to the exit."
As you hear the robotic voice once again, the gated door ahead of you opens up.
[[Exit the room->Catwalk]]As you enter the door, you see that it takes you to a large open area. You look below and see several stacks of crates placed all around the ground floor. Ahead of you is a catwalk, and at the end of the catwalk is a door with the word "EXIT" on it!
[[Run for the exit->Shot Down]]You inspect the painting on the left and immediately notice the man's bright green eyes staring directly forward. You also realize that the "dust" you saw previously are actually small shards or memories flying off of the man. Looking closely, you see that each shard contains a smaller image of a scene that seems to be related to the man in the focus of the art.
"Test complete! The cleansing was successful. You may proceed to the exit."
As you hear the robotic voice once again, the gated door ahead of you opens up.
[[Exit the room->Catwalk]]"In the meantime, hello #47! Please sit tight and don't move. We can see you through the camera that is mounted on the wall above you."
You look up and see the camera that the man mentioned.
"If you try to do anything funny, I'll pull a lever here and fill your entire room with poisonous gas. Believe me, I do not want to do that, so don't let it come to that, ok?"
"Don't scare him like that, Kirk! You're just going to put ideas in his head. Now, while we wait for John, do you have any questions for us?"
[[Where am I?->Answers]]
[[Who are you?->Answers]]
[[Where are you?->Answers]]
[[Why am I here?->Answers]]
[[How do I get out?->Answers]]You ask your question, but only hear a loud incoherent mixture of voices.
"Mitch you idiot, what did you expect to happen when you give him such an open ended question?"
"Relax its ok, it looks like it was just minor, but hey at least we know its still working, right? Anyways, I have no idea what you just said #47, but I'll answer some of the questions I think you might have. I am Mitch and my partner here is Kirk. You are a test subject in our lab. We are observing and communicating with you from the camera room, which is on a separate floor from where you currently are, so you don't have to worry about us. We just want to observe a few things in your behavior and take some notes for our studies. Unfortunately, we can't let you leave for now since your current state is so valuable, from a scientific perspective of course."
"Don't you think you're telling him too much?"
"It's ok Kirk, we want him to know that he can trust us, so there's no need to hide any information. Now, #47, do me a favor and walk into the next room. It'll be easier to run our tests from there."
[[Walk to the next room->Tests]]Seeing as you don't really have any options given the current situation, you exit the current room and enter the connected room ahead. This room is completely white, with a camera in the corner, and a table in the center with various objects and buttons on it.
"Hey Kirk, did John say when he's gonna come up here?"
"Nah he hasn't responded yet. Ugh, I'll go drag him up here myself. Don't you dare test anything major without me!"
"Don't worry, I'll start with the minor stuff until you're back. Alright #47, you should see two red buttons next to each other on the table in front of you. Pick any of the two buttons and press it for me please."
[[Press the left button->Pressed]]
[[Press the right button->Pressed]]You press the button, and the two LEDs above the buttons light up green.
"Amazing! Well, I already knew that would happen, but just seeing it in real time is so cool! Alright, let's try something a little different now. Do you see the small ball on the table? There should be a part of the table with three holes in it. Drop the ball into any of the three holes."
You pick up the ball and see the three holes in a line on the table.
[[Drop the ball in the left hole->Dropped]]
[[Drop the ball in the middle hole->Dropped]]
[[Drop the ball in the right hole->Dropped]]You drop the ball and hear it roll for a few seconds. Then, from a small shelf in the side of the table, you see three balls roll from within the table into the shelf.
"Truly groundbreaking! The possibilities are endless with this kind of flexibility! Now for another test! Do you see a cube on the table?"
You look over and find the cube.
"Now, I won't look, and don't tell me anything. Decide for yourself whether you want to take the cube or not. If you do decide to take it, place it in your pocket and don't make any other indication that it was taken."
[[Take the cube->Sudden Call]]
[[Leave the cube->Sudden Call]]"Hold on #47! Don't do anything yet!"
Before you can make your decision, you hear Mitch's voice.
"Is everything ok there Kirk?"
You take this time to scan the room and notice a sink in the corner of the room.
"Alright I'll check the cameras on Floor 1 real quick and then head to the observation deck. I still have all my ammo so we should be good."
You notice another door on the opposite end of the room.
"Alright #47, there's a bit of a situation right now, so you can take a small break and wash your hands. Remember, I can poison the room at any time, so don't even think about trying to escape."
[[Wash your hands->Cleaning]]
[[Go through the door->Chemicals]]You walk to the sink and get ready to wash your hands. However, you realize that there are two faucets available. You assume the left one is hot water and the right one is cold water.
[[Turn the left faucet->Warm]]
[[Turn the right faucet->Warm]]You wait a few seconds and then quickly go through the door. On the other side, you see a large, dimly lit room. The room is split in half down the center by a large collection of pipes carrying various fluids. On the left half of the room, you see 3 large cylindrical tanks placed against the back wall, each containing a different fluid. On the right, you see several valves connected to each of the pipes.
[[Inspect the tanks->Tanks]]
[[Inspect the valves->Valves]]You turn the faucet, and the water comes out at a warm temperature. Not thinking too much of it, you finish washing your hands and dry them off on a nearby towel.
[[Wait->Trust]]You walk up to the tanks and see that the wall of pipes in the middle all connect to each of the three tanks in multiple locations. You see a large warning label above all three tanks:
//WARNING
These fluids are experimental and MUST be kept at their appropriate pressures at all times. Unauthorized change in pressure will result in an immediate lockdown!//
[[Keep Reading->Tank 1]]You walk up to the valves and see that the wall of pipes in the middle are each labeled with a color and a location. You see a large warning label above all the pipes:
//WARNING
These fluids are experimental and MUST be kept at their appropriate pressures at all times. Unauthorized change in pressure will result in an immediate lockdown!//
[[Keep Reading->Valve 1]]The label on the green tank reads:
//Compression Toxin
Becomes toxic for humans at <16.00psi. Must be stored at above 18.00psi to comply with standard health and safety protocols.//
[[Keep Reading->Tank 2]]The label on the black tank read:
//Anti-Entanglement Fluid
Becomes active at <10.00psi. Must be stored at above 15.00psi to avoid accidental quantum divergence.//
[[Keep Reading->Tank 3]]The label on the white tank read:
//Re-Entanglement Fluid
Becomes active at <20.00psi. No storage pressure requirements necessary, as the active effects are non-fatal and will not affect any organism unless they are under the effects of Anti-Entanglement Fluid.//
As you read this last label, you notice that the white fluid starting to quickly flow downward through one of the pipes...
Looking to the right of the last tank you see that there is a door in the center of the back wall. The series of pipes in the middle of the room end just before the doorway begins.
[[Enter the door->F4 Hallway]]
[[Run back to the previous door->Lockdown]]You pull the door open and run out just in time to hear the lights shut off and gates come down from within the room you were just in. Seeing that there is only one direction to go, you follow the hallway and see the elevator doors.
[[Use the elevator->Empty]]You run back the way you came, trying to get back into the door you entered from.
"UNAUTHORIZED PRESSURE CHANGE DETECTED"
Suddenly all of the walls are completely gated, and it looks like you are stuck in here.
[[Look for a way out->Gassed]]You open the elevator doors and luckily, catch yourself as you look down and realize that the elevator shaft is empty. As you look down, you see that there is a similar elevator door one floor below you, and you might be able to jump down to it. You also notice that a piece of the elevator wire is still hanging, and you could try swinging on it instead.
[[Jump down to the door->Bad Grip]]
[[Swing down to the door->F3 Hallway]]You carefully drop down from your floor and prepare to grab onto the next. However, you do not get a good enough grip, and you slip, plummeting down the shaft. You're not sure why this idea crossed your mind even though there was a wire right there, but now you have to live (and die) with your decision as you fall and get engulfed in the flames below.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]You grab onto the wire and slowly swing your way to the bottom floor, descending on the wire with each thrust. Carefully, you push the door and plant your feet onto the ground before letting go of the wire. As you peer down the corner, you see a man walk down the hallway.
"Yeah I poisoned the 4th floor and there's one more on the observation deck. Once I deal with him I'll watch the catwalk from here."
Realizing that you can't miss this opportunity, you know you have to sneak behind him.
[[Follow->Opportunity]]You follow behind the man, peeking around the corner to see him walk into a room. You here a gunshot and use it as an opportunity to run in.
You see books scattered everywhere and quickly grab one and swing it at the man, knocking him to the ground. While he's on the ground, you grab his gun and check on the man he shot.
To your horror, you realize that the dying man has a labeled dog tag on him with the #47, exactly the same as yours. In fact, you notice that his skin tone, hair color, and clothes all match yours exactly.
Before it's too late, you whisper into the man's ears: "The passcode is 4827658", knowing that you would have liked to know the answer before you died.
[[Continue->Betrayal]]You read each of the valves with a green tag:
//Laboratory
Testing Chamber
Fluids Chamber//
[[Keep Reading->Valve 2]]You read each of the valves with a black tag and realize that they are all simply labeled numbers one to fifty.
[[Keep Reading->Valve 3]]You read each of the valves with a white tag and realize that there is only one:
//Cleansing Chamber//
However, as you are reading it, you notice that the fluid in the pipe slowly starts to move faster. Not sure of what you could have done to cause that, you look around for something to do and notice that there is a door at the far end of the room where the wall of pipes end.
[[Run for the door->Shut Out]]
[[Turn the white valve->Regrets]]You run for the door, but before you can make it, you see the door swing open, obstructing you from reaching it.
"UNAUTHORIZED PRESSURE CHANGE DETECTED"
Before you can even try to reopen the door, all of the walls are completely gated, and it looks like you are stuck in here.
[[Look for a way out->Gassed]]You frantically turn the white valve, trying to stop the pressure from changing.
"UNAUTHORIZED PRESSURE CHANGE DETECTED"
Suddenly all of the walls are completely gated, and it looks like you are stuck in here.
[[Look for a way out->Gassed]]Before you can fully process what is happening, you hear a voice coming from Mitch's earpiece:
"Hey Mitch, there's one on the catwalk! I'm out of ammo! Shoot him down for me, I know you can see him from up there!"
You open up the gun and count that there are three bullets left. Even though you don't want to, you know what you have to do to avoid raising suspicion. You go up to the large window in the room, and see a man running across the catwalk. In quick succession, you fire a bullet into Mitch's head and then another into the man on the catwalk, shattering the glass in the process.
"Alright good shot! I'll clean this one up and meet you up there."
Now with one bullet left, you know you have to make your last shot count.
[[Aim->Distracted]]You ready your aim on the catwalk for when Kirk comes to clean the body. However, after a couple minutes you notice an open book on the table with notes in the margin:
//--but since the state of the cat is entangled with the state of its environment, when averaged over the possible quantum states of the environment the resulting mixed quantum state for the cat is very close to a classical probabilistic state where the cat has some definite probability to be dead or alive, just as a classical observer would expect in this situation.//
Next to this sentence, you see a written note:
//Anti-entanglement??//
[[Turn the page->Next Page]]As you turn the page, a loose page falls out. You pick it up and realize it isn't part of the book, but is instead a page from a report.
//Once sufficiently pressurized anti-entanglement fluid coats an organism, they become capable of divergence based on their superposition. Note, however, that the creature must have some ability to ponder decisions in order to properly diverge. Because of this, humans are one the easiest test subjects for this experiment.//
[[Turn the page->Next Next Page]]//Divergence can be broken down into two categories: minor and major. Minor divergence occurs when the subject makes a decision that does not immediately diverge into reasonably differing decision trees. For example, if the subject has the choice between picking a cherry flavored and lemon flavored candy, then that will only cause a minor divergence.
Major divergence is where it gets interesting. If the decision point leads to significantly different outcomes, then the subject will do ALL possible decisions. Normally the divergence is handled by the splitting of timelines. However, with the anti-entanglement fluid, the subject is rendered incapable of such splitting. This means that ALL instances of the subject will exist in the same timeline, each following one of the possible decisions the subject would have thought to make.//
[[Keep Reading->Realization]]//One interesting thing to keep in mind is that minor divergences can eventually become major if the minor decision ends up causing a future decision to have significantly different outcomes based on the subject's superposition. In our previous example, if our subject was allergic to lemons, then the minor divergence of choosing a candy becomes major when the subject decides to eat the candy. This results in the lemon instance dying and the cherry instance living.//
You suddenly snap back to reality, and try to regain focus, aiming at the catwalk. However, you spent way too much time reading the report, and see that the dead body is already gone.
You turn to face the door of the lab, and your heart skips a beat when you realize that Kirk is already in the room, slowly walking up to you with a hammer.
[[Shoot->WAIT]]You almost instinctively shoot your last bullet in the direction of Kirk, but stop yourself short. Instead, you breathe in and think about all of the possible directions you can shoot, in case he were to try and dodge the bullet.
[[Shoot straight->Dodge This]]
[[Shoot left->Dodge This]]
[[Shoot right->Dodge This]]
[[Shoot high->Dodge This]]
[[Shoot low->Dodge This]]You aim, and fire! You are almost deafened by the sound of the gunshots, and you're not sure which one hit, but when the smoke clears, you see Kirk on the floor, bleeding out.
You don't have much time to celebrate, though, because you notice that a fire has been spreading on the ground floor, and has started making its way into the room you're in. You remember the two men mentioning that the catwalk would lead to the exit.
[[Navigate to the catwalk->Escape]]You climb out the window and land on a stack of crates below. Navigating your way up the crates, you manage to get yourself on top of the catwalk and start sprinting to the exit.
[[Escape!->Unless]]You keep running like your life depends on it. However, a thought crosses your mind and you stop running. You look forward at the exit, and then backwards at the flames behind you.
After thinking about what you should really do, you decide to walk back toward the flames. You know in your head that it is better for everyone if the monstrosities of this lab all went down with the fire. Knowing that you'd be cursed with constant divergence, you would not be able to live a satisfying life.
As the flames envelop you, you come to terms with yourself, satisfied that you were at least able to save any future victims from this lab.
THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!
[[Replay?->Awake]]You begin to look around the room for some way out, but your hopes are smothered when the lights turn off completely. Suddenly, you feel a rush of gas enter the room. You try to hold your breath, but it's no use. You start feeling dizzy and eventually collapse.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]Knowing there's not much else you can do, you wait to see what Mitch asks you to do next.
"Hey #47, I can't see or hear you right now since I'm in another room, but as long as you're still in the lab or testing chamber you should still be able to hear me."
You consider the implications of this, had you decided to run earlier...
"However, check the underside of the table for a small blue button. If you press that button, I'll hear a chime and know that you're still in the room. I'll give you 10 seconds before I assume you left and fill the entire room with poison gas."
You stop considering the implications and feel for the button under the table.
[[Push the button->Pushed]]You find the button and push it, hoping for the best.
"Ok nice, thank you for trusting us! I'm sorry that I doubted you. Now I don't want to continue the experiments while I'm not there, so if you don't mind, just keep pushing the button regularly until I'm back. Thanks!"
[[Push the button->Pushed Again]]You wait a few minutes and push the button again.
"Nice! If you keep this up I'll convince Kirk to use you as the golden copy!"
[[Push the button->Pushed Again Again]]You push the button again.
"Uhh so #47, I have some bad news. I know you didn't do anything wrong, so this is gonna feel a bit unfair...but I know you thought about leaving the test chamber, and it's caused us a whole lot of problems, so I'm gonna have to gas you anyways. Thanks for being so cooperative, though!"
As you hear those words, you realize that you definitely made the wrong move staying. You see that you might still be able to exit the room if you can make it to the door.
[[Run for the door->Unlucky]]
[[Run back into the laboratory->Unlucky]]You begin to run, but your hopes are smothered when the lights turn off completely. Suddenly, you feel a rush of gas enter the room. You try to hold your breath, but it's no use. You start feeling dizzy and eventually collapse.
GAME OVER
[[Replay?->Awake]]As you are descending, you notice that the way down is significantly farther than the way up to the next floor. Wondering if you really made the right decision, you keep walking down.
[[Continue->Descending 3]]By this point you are getting exhausted, and think that walking up a couple flights would've been a lot easier than walking down this many...
[[Continue->Descending 4]]As you slowly trudge along, you look down and see that the bottom is nowhere in sight.
[[Continue->Descending 5]]At this point, you don't even want to keep going, but your thought is cut short, when you notice a wall of flames coming up from below.
[[Run back up->TTFAF]]With your newfound adrenaline you about-face and start sprinting up the stairs.
[[Run->OMGWTFBBQ]]Remembering back to when you were grateful that it was easier to walk down stairs than up, you feel your legs go numb, not able to make it any higher. After a few seconds, you are completely engulfed in the flames, left to wonder why you thought going in the basement would answer any of your questions.
