(text-style:"underline")[//SYNOPSIS//]
Min Ju Ri wakes up in the hospital to find out she had been in a 10 year coma after being hit by a car in her third year of high school. That last moment is the only memory she has. Even with her high school crush, Lee Kang Dae, by her side to help reconnect with old friends, she is frustrated with her inability to remember anything.
With the help of reading the journal she had left behind, Ju Ri hopes she will be able to find herself through the pages of that which she had written. Maybe it holds the key to that final day—why she was out in the pouring rain in the first place, why Kang Dae only brings her nervous feelings and nothing else, and most of all... why the cold Do Jun Su, whom she had written to have been mean to her has been the only person to trigger any memory fragments.

The sounds around her were muffled, as if she was being drowned in water. There were voices and figures, but she couldn’t quite make them out. Her body felt weak and achy as it was adjusting to consciousness. A rhythmic beeping could be heard getting clearer and clearer, and suddenly, her vision came into focus.
“...she’s waking up!”
“Nn...” she moaned slightly as her eyes squinted due to feeling the bright, fluorescent lighting of her hospital room sting her eyes.
“Ju Ri.” a young man was standing by her bedside, a look of worry upon his face.
“Ju Ri?” she questioned. [[ “Who is that?” ]]
(save-game:"A")The young man bit his lip, trying to hold back a sigh. His eyes shifted and he looked around before lowering his head and lifting his eyes toward her.
“Were you referring to me?” she sat up as best she could in her bed, pointing to herself.
He simply nodded, “Your name is Min Ju Ri.”
She put her hand to her forehead. That seemed familiar. It was then that realization began to hit, and she felt slightly panicked. “A car... I was hit by a car!”
He swallowed hard, slowly nodding. [[ “Yes...” ]](save-game:"A")“How long have I been out? I remember...uhhh….” she put her hand to her forehead again, trying to catch her breath. “...I-I don’t remember anything after that.”
She looked back at the man she could only assume was someone who knew her, “I can’t remember anything...”
She put her hand to her mouth as she felt tears well up in her eyes, “H-How long have I been here?”
“...10 years.”
Her eyes widened, [[ “What?” ]]
(save-game:"A")“You were injured pretty badly and fell into a coma. We were….beginning to think you’d never wake up...”
“10 years?” she repeated. She was in complete disbelief.
He could see her confusion and panic, and it made him feel all emotional. It was true, the doctor’s hypothetical warning; Ju Ri had amnesia. She had no idea he was Lee Kang Dae, her crush from high school.
Quickly, he presented an old notebook to her. “Here. This is yours.”
[[ “Mine?” ]] she said, taking it.(save-game:"A")He nodded, putting his right hand in his pant pocket. “It’s your journal. Maybe it’ll help you remember.”
“My...journal...” she slowly said, slowly turning the pages. A smile came upon her face as she read some of the words, recognizing her handwriting. “I did write this... thank you, umm...?” she looked up at him.
“Kang Dae.”
“Kang Dae?”
He nodded. “You’ll...” He paused a moment, feeling a bit choked up. “...find out about me in that journal, I suppose. Aheh.” He laughed nervously saying that, trying to keep his emotions in check.
[[ “Kang Dae...” ]] She said quietly to herself, flipping through the pages. Finally, a page caught her eye and she stopped to read it when his name came up.(save-game:"A")Suddenly, her eyes widened and her cheeks blushed a bit, shutting the journal and slamming it onto her lap. Sharply, she turned to look at him (which startled him) and her cheeks grew even more hot—causing her to look away in embarrassment.
“Hnnnng...!” She made this sound in sheer embarrassment, trying not to meet his eyes as she curled up in her hospital bed.
Kang Dae was a bit confused, “Uhh... Ju Ri?”
//‘Lee Kang Dae…. Lee Kang Dae… Lee Kang Dae is here?! Hnnnn…. I feel so embarrassed now!’// [[ she panicked inside her head. ]]
(save-game:"A")Gently, Kang Dae put his hand on her shoulder, asking, “Um, are you OK—AH!”
He pulled back as she sharply turned around to look at him, startling them both. Again, Ju Ri’s cheeks started to turn red with embarrassment, as her thoughts screamed in her mind, //‘I can’t believe my high school crush is here! Is this why my heart is beating so fast right now?!’//
“Ah, Miss Min.”
The two’s attention were drawn to a doctor who just walked in. Kang Dae seemed to know him, as he greeted, [[ “Oh, um...hi Doctor Do.” ]](save-game:"A")He slightly laughed. “Almost. More of an assistant right now.” He flipped through some papers, then looked over at Ju Ri. “Min Ju Ri, it’s nice to see you’re finally awake. How are you feeling?”
“Um...” she shrugged. “...confused?”
He nodded slowly with an expression as if to say he already knew what was happening. “I see. How is your memory?”
“Not….good…” she lowered her head, feeling frustrated. “...I remember the car. It hit me, I think... everything went black. I woke up here.” She raised her head, looking at him with teary eyes. “...has 10 years really past?”
The doctor seethed a bit, in-taking a deep breath and putting a hand in his jacket pocket. He nodded solemnly, answering [[ “Yes.” ]](save-game:"A")Ju Ri put her hand to her mouth. Not that she didn’t believe Kang Dae, but it just felt more official coming from her doctor.
The doctor cleared his throat, then saying, “Can you tell me anything else you remember?”
She shook her head.
Sighing, he said. “Amnesia, then.”
[[ “Amnesia?!” ]](save-game:"A")“The experience was very traumatic, both mentally and physically. From what I’ve been told, the driver who hit you recalls seeing you running out into the street in desperation. He was unable to stop his brakes in time. Whatever was going on through your mind could be partly to blame for your memory loss.”
Ju Ri immediately looked toward Kang Dae, “Hey, you were there, weren’t you? Maybe you know what was going on?”
He quickly shook his head, “No, not... really. To be honest, it’s... hard for me to think about that day. It was hard on a lot of us.”
[[ "I need to get some fresh air...." ]] she tried getting out of her bed, but the doctor stopped her.(save-game:"A")"It's been years since you've walked!" he warned.
"Please doctor... I'll just be down the hall, I-I need to think...." she pleaded.
He took a deep breath, slowly nodding as he began to remove all her attachments. "Okay, but take it easy. Here, you better use this--" he grabs a walker that was nearby. "Don't be afraid to ask for assistance from any of the nurses nearby."
[[ She nodded, "Okay." ]](save-game:"A")Gripping her hands around the bars, she slipped out of bed, suddenly feeling the weight of her body upon her weak legs. She nearly falls forward, but manages to keep herself up. "I'm okay, I'm okay..." she said, taking her first few steps in awhile.
As Ju Ri made her way out, Kang Dae commented to the doctor, "You sure it's a good idea to let her go like that?"
He looked at him, "Wouldn't you want to get out of bed after sleeping in it for 10 years?"
He couldn't answer that.
(link: "(Continue)")[(goto: "hallway")](save-game:"A")Ju Ri struggled down the hall at a slower pace than she wished. She had barely made it several feet from her hospital room down the hall, and already she was starting to feel exhausted. Lost in her thoughts about the whole situation, she ends up literally bumping into a man coming the other direction.
“A-Ah, sorry, I….” she lifts up her head to see the man in front of her and suddenly she gets a splitting headache. Immediately, she puts her hand to her forehead. In her mind, it was like she could see flashes of imagery, but she couldn’t quite make it out. When it was over, she met eyes with him again, saying a name she knew belonged to him... “Jun Su?”
[[ End.|Episode 2 ]](save-game:"A")(align:"==>")+(box:"X=")+(size:2)[Episode Two]
Their eyes were locked—the two stared with wide eyes and confusion after Ju Ri accidentally walked into the guy. Once her splitting headache had subsided from the flashing imagery, she said a name in question. “Jun Su?”
He looked down at her for a moment, then suddenly—
[[ (Continue)|e2 ]](save-game:"A")“Nn!” Ju Ri lost balance as she felt herself being shoved toward the wall by the one she called Jun Su rather hastily. She started to feel a bit annoyed now as the guy walked away, so she shouted, “Hey!”
The angered shout caused the man to stop. She had gotten his attention.
[[ “Who do you think you are, shoving a girl who can barely walk in a hospital, huh? Jerk!” ]](save-game:"A")An audible sigh could be heard from the man as he turned around to look at her. “And who do you think you are, not looking where you’re going?” He shot back, a voice clearly laced with irritation.
“All I asked you was a question, don’t have to be so rude about it.” She then pointed at her forehead. “I’ve just been diagnosed with amnesia, ya know!”
[[ “And?” ]](save-game:"A")She growled. This guy was beyond frustrating. “Yeah! And I just had a moment right now as if my mind was resetting a bunch of data, and YOU destroyed it.”
“You what...?” a slight bit of genuine curiosity came upon his face.
She pouted. “Yeah... There were like these flashing images when I saw your face, and then... Nnn...!” she quickly put her hand to her forehead again, falling to her knees on the floor. [[ “...Jun Su...” ]](save-game:"A")She looked up at him, trying to catch her breath. “I-I feel like I know you, but I don’t know why. Just tell me if you’ve ever seen me before, I just want to remember!”
With a cold expression on his face, he simply replied. “Yes.”
Her eyes widened. “Then---“
“Stay away from me.”
“Huh?”
[[ “You woke up, so what? Go away.” ]](save-game:"A")His eyes briefly shifted to the journal she possessed, then back at her. “You’ll remember soon enough who I am, so don’t come near me.”
With that, he turned around and walked away at a slightly faster pace. Ju Ri released a sigh, feeling a mix of confusion and irritation. “Jackass... who does he think he is?”
[[ “Ju Ri!” ]](save-game:"A")At the sound of her name, Ju Ri turned to the direction of the voice to find Kang Dae coming to her rescue, worried. He bent down beside her, “Are you OK? What happened?”
“I met a jerk, that’s what.” She seethed. “It’s weird too… I like, had this moment in my head... I even saw images and... It was like I knew his name. Do Jun Su...” then her fist clenched. “And the idiot bastard shoved me, he SHOVED ME! Ugh, that guy... What nerve!”
Kang Dae put both his hands on her shoulders in an effort to calm her down. “Just don’t... don’t worry about that guy. Here, let me help you to your feet.”
He took her hand and slowly lifted her up. She was a bit surprised by the action, and when her eyes met with his she started to feel her heart race again. Shyly, she looked away. [[ “U-Um...thank you...” ]](save-game:"A")“Here.” he swept her off her feet and started to carry her in his arms. The moment surprised her, and it was like the whole world stopped. Gently, he set her down in a hospital wheel chair.
“Um, where are you taking me?”
“You’re being discharged today. Congratulations for waking up.”
“But...where are we going?”
[[ (Continue)|apartment ]](save-game:"A")The door opened, revealing a simply furnished but clean apartment.
“Wow!” Ju Ri said, holding onto Kang Dae’s hand as he guided her inside. She was still weak, and she immediately sat down on the closest chair she could find. “Is this really my place?”
Kang Dae nodded, putting both his hands in his pant pockets. “Mmhmm. Pretty cool, right?”
“But...” She thought for a moment. “I was… 19 when I was admitted to the hospital. I mean, high school was almost over but...” she looked at him. [[ “What about my parents?” ]](save-game:"A")A solemn expression came upon Kang Dae’s face, not sure how to explain this. He quickly just said, “It’s a long story... we’ll discuss it some other time. For now, let’s get you settled in.”
She slowly nodded, but felt like he was dodging the subject. Perhaps because the answer isn’t pleasant. Her mind immediately came up with the theory that they abandoned her or something. It sounds sad, but for some reason she didn’t feel sad. But without her memory, she really had nothing to be sad over. In time she might.
[[ “So... Have I always lived here?” ]]
(save-game:"A")“Nope.” He replied, taking some of her things out of a box and placing them on the table.
“Huh... Then where did this apartment come from?”
“One of your very good friends bought it for you.”
“Really? Damn, what a nice friend.” She looked around the place again as she said this. “Who was it?”
He laughed slightly. [[ “Wanted to keep it anonymous.” ]]
(save-game:"A")“So it wasn’t you then?” she teased.
“Afraid not. And don’t think you’ll be getting names from me, I promised to keep it hush hush.”
“Well that’s mean...” She pouted. “Will I get to see them at least?”
[[ “It’s not impossible. Still not telling.” ]](save-game:"A")She groaned. It was bad enough she lost her memory, so this whole “anonymous” business made her just //slightly// irritated. However, something dawned on her, “Oh crap, I’m an adult now... I’ll need to look for work!”
“Just hold off on that right now.” Kang Dae told her. “Your monthly rent has been paid off 6 months in advance. There’s food in the cabinets. Oh, and...” He handed her a large envelope. “An account’s been set up for you, complete with actual cash.”
Wide eyed, Ju Ri took the envelope. “I feel like I’m being killed with kindness.”
“We just wanted you to have time to recover before going out into the world.”
[[ “Ahhh, ‘we’ huh? You sure you’re not part of this?” ]](save-game:"A")He shrugged with a smile. “I might be a little guilty... a lot of us pitched in, I’ll admit, but I ain’t revealing the mastermind behind the plot.”
“Ugh, I hate you.” She pouted. That caused him to laugh.
“Will... you be OK by yourself?” his tone changed to that of worry.
She nodded, “Yeah, uh…. If I need anything, I’ll call you. If I had a phone—“
Kang Dae hands her a cell phone. “Almost forgot this.”
Her eyes widened in amazement. “Well, thank you, um… can I have your number?”
“Already programmed.”
[[ She smiled. “Thank you, Kang Dae~” ]](save-game:"A")“You’re welcome.” He smiled back. “The doctor’s number is in there, too. He’ll periodically be sending you texts to check up on your condition.”
She nodded.
“I need to be going. See you around, Ju Ri. We should get together later, catch up and stuff.”
“I’d like that~”
He warmly smiled back at her, gave a wave, and then left. Now Ju Ri was alone in a new, unfamiliar place. But perhaps that was good for now…. The splitting headache seeing that bastard Jun Su she endured earlier wasn’t fun. [[ That was enough recollection she could handle for the day. ]](save-game:"A")After fixing some instant noodles to eat, she heard the sound of an incoming text. It was Doctor Do.
|| Hello, Miss Min. I’m just checking to make sure you got home alright. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. Have a good evening. ||
A small smile pulled at her lips. What a kind doctor, she thought. She picked up her phone and started composing a response, “Thank you, Doctor. I am fine, Kang Dae got me safely to my place and I’ve been alright. I do have a question, though…. It regards my amnesia. Will my memory ever come back?”
[[ Surprisingly, within a short period of time, she got a speedy response. ]](save-game:"A")|| That remains to be seen. Being around familiar environments or people could assist in the recollection process. It may be quick, it may be awhile, you may even only partially remember. It’s hard to say. ||
A sour look came upon her face. That didn’t sound good. She replied, “I see. Well, thanks anyway.”
Not long after, a response.
|| Let me know if you recall anything. You don’t have to explain in detail, especially if they are personal. Just let me know if any memories come back to you at all. ||
Immediately, Jun Su’s face came into her mind. She frowned, [[ “Not worth mentioning...” ]](save-game:"A")As soon as she was done eating, Ju Ri got ready for bed. She could immediately feel the difference in softness on this bed versus the hospital bed.
Before finally dozing off, she took her journal and flipped through its pages. It seemed she was really happy back then. She kept blushing at what she wrote about Kang Dae. Then, she reached a page mentioning that other guy she also met, Do Jun Su. It was the first time his name came up.
[[ The section of the entry her eyes beheld went like this; ]](save-game:"A")(align:"=><=")+(box:"X=")[//I usually try to stray away from writing negative things, as they’re not worth remembering, but I just HAVE to rant about that jackass Do Jun Su. He really gets on my nerves! He’s just so rude to me. I never did anything to him, but he seems to have it out for me for some reason. Like today, while I admit I should have looked where I was going, he had no business to shove me to the side like that! All because he was annoyed I had ran into him. //]
[[ (Continue)|ep2next ]](save-game:"A")The memory of what just transpired today at the hospital flashed through her mind. This entry literally mirrored what he did today! She seethed, “Ugh, this guy. I guess some things never change.”
However, once again, her head started to hurt. Quick flashes of images assaulted her brain. There was a hallway…. She was on the ground…. A hand was reaching out to her. That was all. “Nnn…” she threw her journal to the side. “No more memories tonight, please.” She curled up in her bed, trying to get to sleep, even forgetting to turn the lamp off.
[[ End.|episode3 ]](save-game:"A")(align:"==>")+(box:"X=")+(size:2)[Episode Three]
Morning came. Ju Ri moved about in her bed, slowly waking up. After stretching and yawning, she saw her journal left open upon her lap. “What was I reading last night?” she said to herself, tired as she picked it up. Upon beholding the entry once more, her face immediately soured. “Do Jun Su...”
//“Stay away from me.”//
“Ah, who does he think he is, huh?” she ranted. “And what’s with this //‘uhn, stay away from me’// crap? Is he trying to be all angst or what?”
Frustrated, she throws the covers off her bed and proceeds to get up, [[ only to lose balance and meet the floor. ]](save-game:"A")“Nnn...” That’s right, her legs are still weak. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to be left alone.
Suddenly, she heard the buzzing sound of her phone. Luckily, since she was by the bed, she was able to use it to help herself back up and grab her phone from the night stand as she sat.
[[ “Hello?” ]](save-game:"A")“Hey Ju Ri, it’s me.”
“Kang Dae?” she could feel her heart skip a beat. “Oh uh, hey, what’s up?”
“I was just wondering if you’d like to get some coffee with me.”
She immediately grinned, feeling giddy. “Ah well, I’ll need to get ready first.”
“No problem. I’ll just wait for you out here.”
[[ “Out here?” ]]
(save-game:"A")“Yeah, I’m at your door right now.”
Her eyes widened, immediately jumping out of bed, but by the time she made it outside of her room, she met the floor. “Oof!”
After that loud thud, she heard knocking on her door, followed by Kang Dae’s voice, asking [[ “Ju Ri? Hey Ju Ri, are you alright?” ]]“Fine! Just fine!” she shouted, proceeding to crawl to a nearby chair to prop herself up. She figured she might as well let him wait inside, after all, it was probably freezing outside.
After managing to ready herself, she met with him in the living room. “Sorry I couldn’t find anything better to wear... plus my hair is a mess.”
He smiled, “No, no, it’s great. You look great.”
Again with the butterflies. She could hardly keep eye contact with him. Suddenly, she felt his arm wrap around hers. “Let’s go then.”
She was speechless, all she could do was nod as they walked out arm in arm. Of course, this gesture probably had no romantic connotation, as she was still weak—but still, it made her heart flutter away!
[[ (Continue)|next3 ]](save-game:"A")They arrived at a small, but lovely coffee place. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sweet treats floated in the air, it was really quite pleasant. The two got in line and he ordered something for the both of them. They took a seat by one of the window tables with their goods and began to chat a bit.
“How was your first day out of the hospital?” he asked.
She shrugged. “I lived, I guess?”
He laughed. “No injuries?”
She shook her head. “Nope. Just a headache, really.”
He nodded. [[ “Ohh... not a bad headache, was it?” ]](save-game:"A")“Well…” she exhaled a breath. “I had another episode again. I was reading my journal and suddenly this sharp pain assaulted my brain. Couldn’t quite make out what was happening, but I knew I was at school and someone offered their hand to me. That’s all I remember.”
“Ah, well, it’s good that you’re making progress.” He took a sip of his coffee.
She sighed. “Yeah… but it was after reading a rather infuriating entry.”
[[ “Infuriating? How?” ]](save-game:"A")Her face soured again. An expression that will soon become a sheer indication of whom she is about to rant about.
“That Do Jun Su...” her hand clenched into a fist. “Do you know back in high school he pulled THE EXACT same stunt he did at the hospital? I can’t believe it, the nerve! I’ve been asleep for 10 freakin’ years, the least he could do is feel sorry for me!”
She crossed her arms, pouting. Kang Dae paused a moment, wide eyed at her sudden rant, not knowing what to say about it. He sort of laughed nervously. “Well... Just don’t worry about him. If he was the same way now as he was then, best to stay away.”
[[ “Yeah. Even he told me that.” ]](save-game:"A")“He did?”
She nodded. “Uh-huh. It was all angst like too. I mean, pfft… seriously.”
Suddenly, the bell rang, indicating another customer entered. A female voice came from behind, “Sorry I’m late. The bus broke down so I had to walk the rest of the way... ugh.”
[[ “Ah, Sang Hee!” ]] Kang Dae waved her over. (save-game:"A")“I’m sure you remember Min Ju Ri.”
“Yes, I do. From high school.” she said. “Congrats on finally waking up! You were asleep for a looooong time.”
“I was, wasn’t I?” The two shared a laugh.
“I’m Sang Hee.” She took her hand and shook it. “You and I knew each other quite well back in the day.”
“Quite well?” said Kang Dae. “You two were the best of friends!”
[[ “Were we?” Ju Ri asked. ]](save-game:"A")“I wouldn’t say //best of//...” she flipped her hair a bit as she said this. “Her attention was always drawn to you, Kang Dae. It was rather annoying, to be honest.”
Ju Ri’s face grew hot. Oh no, was this perhaps a friend she confided in telling about her severe crush on Kang Dae?
Quickly, that girl changed the subject. “So, what’s it like to finally be independent? After all, we were all still kids before you went out.”
“Ah, I’m not sure yet.” She shrugged. “I mean, it’s only been one day. I’m sure the pressure of adulthood will come upon me once I get settled in.”
[[ “I suppose it will.. good luck!” ]](save-game:"A")After having chatted for a half hour or so, it was time for them to depart.
They all stood in front of the coffee shop, saying their goodbyes. Kang Dae once again graced Ju Ri with holding her arm to keep her on her feet. Sang Hee noticed, and she commented, “Getting friendly already?”
“H-He’s just helping me stay on my feet!” Ju Ri quickly said.
“Suuure…” her eyes met with Kang Dae’s. “Well, it was nice seeing you... or both of you.” She managed a smile then waved at the two. “Catch ya later~”
As she walked off, Ju Ri commented, [[ “That’s my friend?” ]]
(save-game:"A")“Yeah. //Best friend// in fact.” He replied.
She slightly frowned. “I don’t know, she seems a little… arrogant to me.”
“Haha, she was always that way. A borderline mean girl, you could say.”
“And we’re friends again, how?”
“She has some nice qualities about her. Just only a few people know it.”
“I guess I’m one of those people, then.”
[[ (Continue)|nnext3 ]](save-game:"A")Kang Dae opened the door to Ju Ri’s apartment and guided her in. “Here, you better use the walker the hospital gave you.”
“Thanks.” She grabbed onto the bars, holding herself up.
“Now, you sure you don’t need anything else?”
Ju Ri shook her head. “You’ve done enough today. Sorry to be a burden.”
“You’re not a burden.” He told her warmly. “Hope you continue to recover. Again, if you need anything, just call, okay?”
[[ And with that, the door was shut as he went on his way. ]](save-game:"A")Ju Ri sat down at the table, her journal in hand. She slowly flipped through the pages, trying to memorize what was written. Even if the memory would be nothing more than technical, at least she would have some form of something in her head regarding her past.
[[ She comes upon an entry mentioning Sang Hee for the first time; ]](save-game:"A")(align:"=><=")+(box:"X=")[//Today at the coffee shop, I decided to tell my friend Sang Hee about my feelings for Kang Dae. It wasn’t really planned as I had come there by myself, only to run into her. She knew something was bothering me, so I spilled the beans and told her how I couldn’t stop thinking about him. His smile, his voice, his kindness. She laughed at me when it was all over, then asked me why I liked him. I thought I had just told her, but she repeats the question again. Maybe she wanted me to consider it deeper. I don’t really have an answer right now, I just… really like him.//]
[[ “I feel like Sang Hee will be teasing me a lot more in entries to come,” ]] she said to herself.
(save-game:"A")Suddenly, a text notification came. Lo and behold, it happened to be Sang Hee. Looks like Kang Dae was sure to program every important number.
|| Hey Ju Ri, just checking up to make sure you’re alive. You are alive, right? ||
She laughed, quickly replying, “Yes, I’m alive.”
|| Good. Okay. ||
Ju Ri raised an eyebrow. “Sang Hee’s weird...”
Setting her phone down, [[ she flipped through the pages further. ]](save-game:"A")It was a little frustrating how none of these pages were triggering anything. This was her handwriting, obviously they happened. “Are these memories just not important enough to me? I find that hard to believe...” she said to herself.
Suddenly, she stumbled upon another entry concerning Jun Su. That name was starting to make her feel automatically pissed just seeing it.
(align:"=><=")+(box:"X=")[//He found out. That annoying Jun Su found out, or figured out, rather. I don’t know how, but he did. Now every time I’m around Kang Dae, if Jun Su sees, he starts causing me anxiety with his gestures and dropping hints. Luckily, Kang Dae seems too oblivious to get it (or maybe he’s just pretending), BUT STILL! It causes a whole spectacle for the school to see. Oh, I could cry right now...//]
She seethed after reading that, [[ “Jun Su...” ]]
(save-game:"A")However...
“Ah!” she got that splitting headache again. She bent over, putting her hand to her forehead in sheer agony. An array of images once again flooded her mind. On top of that, she heard a voice echo throughout her mind.
//“How could you like that guy?!”// That voice...
//“Tch, typical.”// That one sounded like a girl.
//“Guess what everyone!”// Was that Kang Dae?
//“Please wake up... I promise, if you—“ // Who....?
“GYAAAH!” she screamed, falling out of her chair and onto the floor. Tears were streaming down her face, she didn’t know why, but she was crying. She grabbed her phone and immediately punched in the doctor’s number.
[[ He answered, “Hello?” ]](save-game:"A")“Doctor...” She whimpered.
“Are you alright? You sound—“
“I remembered something.”
For a moment, the line went quiet. Then— “What happened?”
“I don’t know, I... I was just reading my journal, and suddenly I got this splitting headache. There were images, vague images, but I knew it was from school. I could hear voices, too. I heard an array of things, but I don’t know who they belong to.”
“At least you didn’t faint.”
[[ “Huh?” ]](save-game:"A")“Some amnesia patients have been reported to faint after their memory’s been triggered. Yours doesn’t seem to be coming all at once, though. Your case will be a bit slower, but I think it is possible to recover from your amnesia. Whether or not fully is something only time will tell.”
“So I’m normal? Nothing is wrong?”
“You had a very traumatic experience, I’d expect nothing less. Still, I’d like to have a minor check up. Come see me at the hospital tomorrow.”
“Okay... Bye.”
Setting her phone down, she tried to catch her breath, wiping her tears away.
[[ (Continue)|end3 ]](save-game:"A")Do Ji Hun, Ju Ri’s doctor, set his phone down as soon as the conversation ended.

Ju Ri sat in her doctor’s office as he went over some things from a stack of papers. He had done a few minor tests and asked her some questions, this session was just about ready to come to an end.
“One last thing...” He said, looking at her. “What were you doing before the recollections occurred?”
[[ (Continue)|ep4next ]](save-game:"A")“I was reading my journal.” She replied.
He nodded, “That makes sense. Was there anything in particular that struck you?”
She shook her head. “Not really. Uhhh... can you keep this confidential?”
[[ “Of course.” ]](save-game:"A")“Well uhh..." she began. "I had just met one of my friends yesterday. I wanted to remember who she was, so I searched my journal. I uh, came upon a rather embarrassing entry that documents I had uh… told her about my crush...”
Ju Ri fiddled with her hair as she explained this. “I... also got to a part where this really...” she was already cringing at this part. “Ugh, that Jun Su...”
The doctor raised an eyebrow. [[ “Jun Su?” ]](save-game:"A")“Ah, yeah, that’s his name…. real asshole. I’d just like to—“
“Continue, Miss Min.”
“Right, right. Well evidently he found out I liked Kang Dae and just, UGH!” she made a swinging motion with her fist. “I’d just like to punch that guy in the face!”
Ji Hun seethed a bit. “Not a good idea... I’d prefer not to be overwhelmed with more patients.”
She laughed a little, “Ah sorry, I wouldn’t REALLY do it. Just letting off some steam. But anyway... I don’t know, just hearing that name boils me. He was so rude to me in the hallway before I was discharged.”
“Wait, you’ve //met// this [[ person ]] before?”
(save-game:"A")“Well yeah, I didn’t think it mattered—“
He leaned closer. “Ju Ri, have you had this recollection episode more than once?”
“W-Well—“
“This isn’t the first time, is it?”
“N-No, it’s not.” She admitted.
Ji Hun sighed, falling back in his chair with slight frustration. “Miss Min, you need to tell me anytime you have these episodes. I won’t be able to properly monitor your recovery otherwise.”
[[ “I know, I’m sorry. I just...didn’t think it mattered.” ]](save-game:"A")“Here.” Ji Hun hands her a blank notebook. “Just record whenever you have those episodes in here. Give me dates, even times if you can. And it’s confidential, so if you need to provide specific details on what actually triggered your memory, it will remain between you and me.”
She took the notebook. “Yes. Thank you, Doctor.”
“Start out by writing the ones you didn’t tell me about.”
She nodded, grabbing her purse and slowly making her way out. Again, lost in her thoughts, as she waddled down the hallway she crashes into someone again.
“Ah, sorry, I—“ then she saw who it was and seethed. [[ “Oh, forget it.” ]](save-game:"A")“It’s always you, isn’t it?” Jun Su said. “Just get out of my way—“
He tries to push her aside, but she grabs his wrist to prevent that. “Hold up, mister! You need to learn some manners.”
“Then apologise.”
“Apologise? For what?”
“You were about to, but suddenly stopped. You wander about like a zombie and get in my way.”
“So what if I do? [[ I was just chewed out by my doctor,]] I don’t need your pissy attitude on top of that!”(save-game:"A")“Doctor’s visit, huh?” His tone slightly changed there.
“Yeah. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to write an ‘essay’ on all my memory episodes.” Frustrated, she walked passed him, but not before purposely ramming her side into his.
He turned around, having one last look at her. He sighed, then walked on where he was supposed to go.
[[ (Continue)|ep4nnext ]](save-game:"A")“That insensitive jerk!”
Ju Ri was at the coffee shop, sitting across from Sang Hee as she ranted about her experience at the hospital. Ju Ri slurped her iced coffee through a straw, then slammed it down on the table causing vibration. “What did I ever do to him, huh?”
“Absolutely nothing.” Sang Hee said in a monotone voice.
“Exactly. Nothing. NOTHING!”
“I honestly thought Jun Su wasn’t going to come anywhere near you. Heh... so much for that.” She stared off through the window.
[[ “What do you mean?” ]](save-game:"A")“Huh?” she looked back at her, then forced an awkward laugh. “Oh, just your luck I guess. Honestly, the odds. Poor you.”
“You got that right.” Ju Ri sighed. “Too bad Kang Dae was busy today...”
Sang Hee leaned forward. “What do you see in Kang Dae, anyway?”
“Huh?”
[[ “You’ve always been so obsessed with him. To be honest, it always confused me.” ]]
(save-game:"A")“This is just like in my journal...” Ju Ri leaned forward, amazed. “You asked me that very question! It’s a very good question... I can’t really seem to answer it myself...”
She nodded. “Well, you think about it.” She got out of her chair, grabbing her purse. “Sorry to cut this short, but I have an appointment.”
“Thanks for listening, Sang Hee. I appreciate it.”
Again, she just nodded. [[ “Stay in good health.” ]](save-game:"A")Since Sang Hee was leaving, there wasn’t much reason for her to stay. After finishing her coffee, she proceeded out and walked on the sidewalk. Suddenly, a text notification sounded, so she took her phone out to look at it. It was from Kang Dae.
|| Hey, again I’m sorry I couldn’t make it. Next time, how about just you and me? ||
Ju Ri’s lips spread out into a huge smile, then it turned into a grin. She began typing a response when suddenly, she tripped forward. Her legs were still not quite used to walking. [[ “Should’ve had Sang Hee assist me...” She said to herself. ]](save-game:"A")She crawled a bit and found a pole she could use to prop herself up. “Dammit, I need help to get back home... My legs are really feeling it this time...” she hobbled forward, only to lose balance, falling toward someone. As a reflex, said person grabbed her shoulders to keep her up...
And it happened to be Jun Su.
Eyes widening and blood beginning to boil, she shoved him away, only to nearly lose balance, but luckily there was something she could lean on to prevent from falling backwards. Jun Su genuinely seemed shocked by the action, before an irritated sentence escaped his lips. [[ “This is why I told you to go away.” ]](save-game:"A")Ju Ri gritted her teeth. “You should’ve just let me fall.”
“If you’re so sick, why are you by yourself?”
“None of your business.”
“You shouldn’t be out alone. Look what could happen.” Was he scolding her?
“Why do you hate me so much? I mean, what did I ever do to you?”
He was silent for a moment. Sighing, he lowered his head in thought, [[ then grabbed her arm. ]]
(save-game:"A")“H-Hey, what are you doing?”
“Come on, let’s get you home—“
“H-How do you know the direction of my apartment?!”
He looked at her as if she were stupid. “You were going this direction, weren’t you?”
She pouted. [[ “So what. Here, it’s that way.” ]](save-game:"A")Ju Ri couldn’t believe she was being escorted by //this man,// of all the people in the world! There could have been a ton of kind strangers, but NOPE! Jun Su. It was Jun Su, although reluctant, being the Good Samaritan. //Just lovely. //
Once they had arrived to the building, Ju Ri yanked her arm out of his to show her displeasure. “I can take it from here.”
“Hey Ju Ri.”
She turned around, irritated. “What?”
“Don’t be going out by yourself. It’s stupid.”
She rolled her eyes, turning back around to proceed to her apartment. [[ “You’re the one that’s stupid…” ]] she muttered. (save-game:"A")When she approached her door, she saw a white plastic bag in front of it. For a moment, she paused and stared.
Bending down, she picked the bag up and proceeded into her apartment, removing her shoes. She set the bag on the table, opening the bag up to find convenient store snacks inside. “Who did this?” she said in delight, pulling some of them out. They seemed familiar to her, were these perhaps some of her favourites?
[[ “Mystery friend, was this your doing?” ]] she said, ripping off the foil top of a pudding cup and licking it.(save-game:"A")She noticed a note inside. Sadly, it was typed, as if this mystery friend wanted to be sure she couldn’t find out who they were by handwriting. It read;
(align:"=><=")+(box:"X=")[//Get well soon, Ju Ri. I’m so glad you’re finally awake.//]
“Awww…” some reason that note gave her butterflies inside. “Haa, Kang Dae... you sure you aren’t the mystery friend?”
[[ End.|episode5 ]](save-game:"A")(align:"=><=")+(box:"X=")+(size:2)[Episode Five]
That night, Ju Ri began writing down every single episode she’s had so far with her recollection headaches.
In truth, her first one was in the hospital when she awoke, remembering when she was hit by a car. The second was when she ran into Jun Su in the hallway. The third was her first night in this apartment after reading that entry regarding Jun Su shoving her in the school hallway. And lastly, after having read those 2 entries in her journal yesterday. She detailed all she could on what she had seen and heard.
“Hmm…” she set the pen down, leaning back in her chair. [[“Does any of these have a common aspect?”]](save-game:"A")She leaned forward, looking over her writing again. Her handwriting was the same as in her journal. She knew this was herself. It was like writing a new journal again. However, she //did// begin to notice an interesting pattern.
“First recollection doesn’t quite count…. I pretty much woke up with the only memory being my last.”
She put her hand to the pages, running her finger underneath many sentences to make sure her eyes didn’t deceive her. “I first experienced that terrible headache when I met Jun Su…. Then my second after I read about Jun Su…. And my third….” She gasped. [[“Why does this all happen when it comes to Jun Su?”]](save-game:"A")She moaned. “This sucks! I’m around the cutest guy on earth, I even have another of my friends to listen to me, how come that’s not triggered anything? I mean, I remember liking Kang Dae, but why can’t I remember anything beyond that? Ugh…. This is FRUSTRATING!”
Suddenly, a thought occurred to her. “Wait a minute…. This was a traumatic experience for me, right? Maybe…. Just maybe Jun Su had something to do with the incident! That must be it…. Something caused me to run into the streets like a moron and get hit by a car. Jun Su is the only person I can think of to make me feel so distraught.” She grabbed her phone. “I must tell my doctor….”
She punched in his number, but unfortunately couldn’t reach him. [[“Okay, I’ll call him tomorrow then.”]](save-game:"A")Sighing, she set her phone aside and pulled her old journal close. She flipped through its pages and tried to recall the fragments of memories she recorded. She giggled at one of the entries, “I didn’t know Kang Dae and I went to the movies with just us. He even slipped and called it a date.”
She felt giddy reading that. However, her face frowned a bit. “I wish I could actually recall it… how could I forget something like that?”
She had to think. Why wasn’t anything coming through? She detailed these herself, but no bells were ringing. What could cause her to actually see it? It was then, she gasped with realization.
[[(Next Scene)|ep5next]](save-game:"A")“Pictures?” repeated Kang Dae. They were both at the coffee shop the next morning when Ju Ri had asked.
“Yeah. I was wondering if you could maybe show me some pictures of us. Maybe it’ll jog my memory a bit. I haven’t had much luck with the general.”
He laughed nervously, falling back in his chair. “Sorry, I don’t have any on me.”
“Aww, come on! It’s only been 10 years, there were camera phones back then! I’m certain you had one.”
[[ “Ju Ri, that phone’s long gone. Damaged actually… I lost a lot of data on that thing.” ]]
(save-game:"A")She sighed, disappointed. “Digital sucks.”
“Well, it was my fault for not backing it up.”
Ju Ri teasingly stuck out her tongue, and then both of them broke out laughing. He then told her, “Hey, even if you don’t remember, we can make new memories.” He put his hand upon hers, and again, she was overwhelmed with that nervous feeling.
“New memories…” she nodded. “I’d like that. This almost feels like a date.”
[[ “Maybe it is.” ]] He winked, picking up his ice coffee and slurping it from the straw.(save-game:"A")Her cheeks became noticeably red and she had to look away. //‘Did he just say this was a date? And that wink…is he trying to kill me?!’//
Whilst that was going on in her head, Kang Dae picked up his phone and saw something. “Ah, sorry Ju Ri, but I have to go.”
“It’s okay. Thank you for taking the time to hang out with me.”
He put his hand on her shoulder. “Sorry I wasn’t of any use to you.”
She shrugged. “What can you do? But you’re right, we can always make new memories. Take new pictures.”
[[ He smiled and simply nodded, patting her head before taking off. ]](save-game:"A")As he left, he started proceeding to his destination and calling someone on his phone. “Hey Sang Hee? Yeah, I was with her. I’m leaving right now. Next time you should come along too.”
There was a pause before any response, then he said, “Sang Hee, stop pretending you’re busy. You’re not. It’s the least you could do for her.” He listened to her response, only to sigh. “I’m hanging up now.”
A bit frustrated, he stuffed his phone back into his pocket. Coincidentally, he could see Jun Su coming the other direction. They passed each other, but before he was out of earshot, Kang Dae stopped and simply said, [[ “She’s over there.” ]](save-game:"A")Jun Su stopped in his tracks when he said that. Kang Dae continued, turning around. “She’s frustrated because of you. I have no idea how you two keep meeting, so I thought I’d give you a heads up if you want to keep avoiding her.”
He didn’t say anything in response. He just stood there with an indecipherable expression, not once turning to look at him.
Kang Dae sighed, looking forward, ready to leave, but said this first. “I wonder which one of us is really the most guilty…”
And with that, he walked on.
[[(Next Scene)|ep5next2]](save-game:"A")Ji Hun was in his office when he got a call from Ju Ri. He was already in conversation with her as she explained the pattern she found.
“Is it possible that this person has something to do with my accident?” she asked.
“What makes you come up with that conclusion?”
“It’s just…” she sighed. “I notice every time it’s him, whether I read about him or see his face, that’s when it happens. The only memory I can see vividly is my last one… when I ran out into the street and was hit. I was distraught, crying, but I don’t know why. Jun Su is the only one I can think of that could’ve made me feel that way, based on some of my entries.”
Ji Hun paused a moment, not sure how to respond to this. “I do agree that Jun Su holds some significance in triggering your memory. If anything, that is certain at least.”
“But why?”
[[ “That’s something only you’ll be able to answer.” ]](save-game:"A")By nightfall, when his shift ended, Ji Hun prepared his things and left for home. He prepared some food for himself, he had no time to make anything fancy so he just warned up some left overs.
Soon, the door opened, revealing his roommate—it was Jun Su.
“Leave anything for me?” he asked, heading into the kitchen.
“Nope, get it yourself.”
“Tch, disrespecting your older brother…”
“I don’t see how 5 minutes makes much of a difference. We were born the same day.”
Jun Su didn’t comment on that, he just searched the cupboards until he settled on instant noodles.
[[ “Ju Ri called me.” ]](save-game:"A")He paused, setting the jug of water down when Ji Hun uttered those words. And he would continue to say more, “She’s going to remember soon.”
Jun Su remained quiet, punching in the time required to heat up his noodles and closing the microwave. The silent treatment was really starting to annoy Ji Hun, so he just kept on talking. “It’s because of you, Jun Su.”
He looked at him, attention officially grabbed. Ji Hun continued, “It’s normal for certain things to trigger an amnesia patient’s memory. Technically being in the presence of Kang Dae or Sang Hee should, but they’re not significant enough.”
“What have you told her?”
[[ “Nothing. It’s not my problem, but it is yours.” ]](save-game:"A")The microwave dinged at that moment, and Jun Su took out his noodles. He doesn’t respond, just heads over to his room. Ji Hun shouts, “She’s come to the assumption YOU were the cause of her accident!”
Jun Su stopped, feeling a bit choked up. Before going into his room, he replied, “Is she wrong?”
Ji Hun sighed, massaging his temple with a slight shake of the head.
[[(Next Scene)|ep5next3]](save-game:"A")Ju Ri was in front of her laptop, currently looking at job websites. She knew she had to make a living at some point. “I wonder where the envelope Kang Dae gave me is?”
Before she could look for it, her phone started to vibrate. She picked it up, [[“Hello?”]]
(save-game:"A")“Hey Ju Ri, I was wondering if you’d like to hang out again. This time Sang Hee will be with us.”
That nervous feeling attacked her heart again and she had to maintain her glee. “Ah, yes, yes of course! When would that be?”
“Tomorrow afternoon.”
“Yes, yes that’s fine.”
“I’ll text the address on your phone. Thought we’d try something new.”
Her grin grew wider and she ended the call cutely, “Okay, see you tomorrow~”
