=><= <== It happened so quickly, a pandemic that swept the modern world leaving small groups of survivors scattered here and there. Global leaderships floundered as scientists couldn't provide any explanations or answers and panic spread almost as quickly as the virus itself. Infrastructures collapsed, law and order evaporated, it was everyone for themselves. The virus hit indiscriminantly, a force of nature that answered to no-one. Victims didn't die, they were cursed to roam the earth, the mindless shambling walking dead in search of survivors to feed their hunger. But somehow here you are, alone, unaffected by the virus, just trying to survive. At least you're alive, for the time being. One week in and you find yourself in Nottingham's Central Library, it's time to get organised, it's time to get supplies, it's time to rebuild something resembling a life. Maybe you want to [[look out the window->firstfloorwindow]] or have a [[look around the room you're in->exhibitionroom]] You peer out the window, squinting as the afternoon sun streams through the glass. It feels like a beautiful day, but as you look down from the first floor window, you snap back to reality. There, on the pavement below, are walkers shuffling aimlessly around. You notice directly opposite the library is a supermarket, to the right is Market Square. Trying to look up the road to the left, there seem to be some restaurants, but trees block most of your view. [[Time to look around the room->exhibitionroom]]It looks like an open space possibly used for exhibitions. It's a nice size, with a couple of pillars in the centre. On the opposite side to the windows the room opens up into the main room on this floor and at the far end you can see a stairwell. There is a door on the left leading to a meeting room, and next to that another door that leads to a stairwell too. You can try the door to the [[meeting room->Locked]] if you'd like, or how about opening the door to the [[front stairwell->frontstairs]] or maybe walk towards the [[rear stairwell->rearstairs]].=><= <== You try the door but it's locked. You can either try the door to the [[front stairwell->frontstairs]], or walk to the back where the [[rear stairwell->rearstairs]] is.=><= <== You open the door to the front stairwell, silence, nothing stirs, in front you can see the lifts. Although it's fairly dark, you can still see enough to make your way up or down safely enough. Would you like to... [[Head down the stairs to the ground floor -> groundfloorfront]] [[make your way up to the second floor -> secondfloorfront]]=><= <== You make your way carefully to the stairwells, past the islands of computers that used to always been in non-stop use before the pandemic hit. As you arrive at the top of the stairs you hear a low moan come from downstairs. You stop, Would you like to slowly make your [[way down the stairs -> kobra]] Or perhaps you'd like to head up to the [[second floor -> secondfloorrear]]=><= <== As you make your way down the stairs you check that it's all clear. You remembered that when you used this stairwell this morning every floor had a door that could be locked or wedged shut, since it was clear of walkers then, it should still be clear of walkers now. But being careful is what's kept you alive so far. It's what has kept your friends alive too, and they're relying on you to get the medical books from the library back to them safely. As you make it down to the ground floor, there are some windows with blinds in front of them. You can have a careful look through the [[window|scarecrow]] There are two doors, one leads into a room that has [[Storysmash|storysmashroom]] written on it, and there is a door directly ahead that leads to the [[main foyer|groundfoyer]] of the Library's ground floor. As you head up the stairs and reach the door to the second floor, you hear a noise just as you are about to open the door. Do you want to [[continue opening the door|secondfloorfront]] on the second floor?=><= <== You carefully open the blinds a little, and you see a figure shambling in the alley way next to the library. It's a walker with a sack over it's head. Good thing you looked because if you had gone out the fire exit, you would probably have walked straight into it. So the choice still remains. The [[Storysmash|storysmashroom]] room, or the door directly ahead that leads to the [[main foyer|groundfoyer]] of the Library's ground floor. The door has a number pad on it and you don't know the code. Just as well, because the entire front of the room is a window and the last thing you want is to be spotted by the roaming packs of walkers, and kicking the door down would cause a lot of noise and attact some unwanted attention. That means your only choice is the door directly ahead that leads to the [[main foyer|groundfoyer]] of the Library's ground floor. This is a very basic Twine game, but Twine is capable of so much more. A moment of serenity in an insane dangerous world where survival is all you can hope for. Do you want to continue down to the [[ground floor|groundfoyer]], or would you like to head up to the [[second floor| secondfloorrear]]? You see that the vending machines still have some snacks and drinks in them. Breaking the glass might cause a bit of noise, motionless you listen intently. Quiet. You place your back over the glass, thud, the glass breaks as you kick at it a few times. You stop again, motionless. Nothing. You got away with it. You quickly grab some of the snacks and drinks, shoving as many as you can into your backpack. You can head over to the [[front of the library|secondfloorfront]] or go [[back down the stairs| kobra]].The second floor is a wide open space with what looks like it had been a reading area with vending machines on one side of the room, a suite of computers on the other. The lights are flickering, with ceiling tiles and wires hanging, creating fleeting dancing shadows as they swing gently in the breeze. It's an eery sight. You can head to the [[rear stairs| secondfloorrear]] or head back down the [[front stairs|secondfloorfrontstairs]].Do you want to go onto the [[second floor|secondfloorfront]], or go down to the [[first floor?|frontstairs]]
