The sound of my alarm clock is deafening. It wakes me from my slumber in no time flat. I reluctantly slip out of bed and turn the alarm off.
Well, I'm awake now and theres no way I could go back to sleep after that racket.
As I sit alone in the dimly lit room that I call my own, I think about what I could do today. My days usually consist of staying within the confines of this box and doing nothing productive. I nap, snack on junk food, play video games, and watch whatever youtube autoplays after the last video autoplayed. This is how I've been living for as far as I remember. Maybe it's because I've become tired of this lifestyle, but for some reason I want to go outside today. But, whenever I try to leave this place, the monsters drag me right back. Even so, a voice inside my head pleads with me to listen to myself and venture outside,
<span style="color:yellow">"Come on now, it's time to get up."</span>

Whatever this eyeball thinks of me, who cares. The blood red lines around the eye wrap around each other above my reflection, forming the word "Murderer". I crack open the window, to show the monster that I wasnt' afraid of being seen anymore. One of it's tendrils enter through the crack and wrap around my body but before it can do anything, I slam the window down, slicing the tendril. The monster shrieks despite not having a visible mouth and flies away, back into the fog. I drop down to the floor with a sigh. I managed to quell a monster for now. I press the start button at the front of the machine, but the machine doesn't start. I check to see if the plug is in and it is. So why is this machine not working? Then I notice it. //DOONK//
"What was that? Did I get it?", was the last thing I thought before the machine started spinning rapidly with my head in it. My head was instantly shredded by the suddenly hyper powered washing machine. A bit late, but the soap finally begins to flow down into the washing area. Gallons of blood spurts out the opening until the machine finally powers down. My lifeless body sticks out from the machine on a pile a red dyed clothes as the rest of my sparkly clean blood drips down to the floor below.
<span style="color:red">[Bad End]</span>
Death by washing machine. What an embarrasing way to go. I look besides me expecting an empty seat but instead a [[small light]] is there swinging with me.
<span style="color:yellow">"This was my seat."</span>
I immedietly press my feet on the ground to stop swinging.
"I recognize the voice...You're the voice in my head that occasionally speaks to me!" I exclaim. "So you're not just my imagination."
<span style="color:yellow">"No, I'm not."</span> It chuckles.
"Woah. Sorry, uh, is it rude if I ask what you are?"
The ball of light pauses as if to think about what it should say.

"What does that mean?"
<span style="color:yellow">"Keep fighting on. You'll understand everything in due time. I'll be there to support you until you do."</span>
With that, the ball of light disapears, leaving me with more questions than answers.
I guess I better get [[back to it->Backyard]] then.

The monster is hunched over at said computer screen, typing away on the keyboard. When it realises that I've entered, it stops typing and stares at me. The sounds of crying.
The never ending pages of apologies.

"Hey! Stop! I'm in here!"
I scream and shout for whatever was dropping the dirt to stop but they don't listen.

I open up the [[casket]].I open the casket, fully prepared to see a corpse, but instead the casket is empty. Thank god for that. Where a corpse would have been is a key. <<set $MattKey to "true">>The hole I dug is still here. It goes really deep down.
[[Back->Backyard]]I unlock the door with the key from the casket. Inside the room isn't what I'm expecting at all. In fact, it's not even a room. The door leads to a forest. In front of me is a dirt path. I guess I have to follow it. As I walk the path, I appreciate how nice the day is. The sun is shining and the green looks bright and vibrant.
"Hey Matt, we should go out and explore."
Somehow, I hear my own voice call out. I turn my head to the direction of the voice. Just beyond some bushes I can see a family of three setting up camp. Wait a second. I see my dad and I there. Granted we look younger, but that's definitely us. The younger me is quietly arguing with another boy who looks slightly older than me. My eyes widen as soon as I see him. That's right, I had an older brother. His name was Matt. How could I forget that? Yeah, we often got confused as friends instead of brothers because we look so different from each other. I have black hair while he has golden brown hair.
After a while, Matt seems to give in to younger me and the two boys run off into the forest. I'm slowly starting to remember this day. We ran off from camp cause I wanted to explore the forest. Aw man, we should have at least told our dad.
<span style="color:yellow">"Tai."</span>
"Woah. You're back."
<span style="color:yellow">"Listen to me. What you're about to see. What you're about to remember. It's going to be painful. But despite that, don't forget all that you've accomplished. You'll need to carry what you've learned so far to overcome it."</span>
"Overcome what?"
Silence again. I hate when the [[voice]] does that. I hurry up and catch up with the two boys.
<<audio ambience stop>>
<<audio flashback loop volume 0.5 play>>I follow the duo from afar as they explore. Nothing eventful happens if I recall correctly. I'm pretty sure we just walk around looking for cool stuff but end up finding nothing.
"This is lame. I thought we could find, like, bears and stuff." The younger me complains.
"This forest has no dangerous animals in it. Dad told us that before we left, remember?" Matt sighs. "So are you satisfied now? It's getting dark. Let's go back to the camp now."
The younger me agrees and the two start heading back in the direction they came from. A chill runs down my spine. I don't know what, but something is about to [[happen]].After an hour of running around the forest, the boys realize that they got themselves lost. Tired and hungry, they lay on the grass to catch their breath.
"I told you we shouldn't have run off like that." Matt grunts as he gets to his feet. "Now we're lost in this stupid forest!"
"Oh, shut up." the younger me snaps back. "You should have done a better job of dissuading me."
I cringe at that. It was meant to be a joke, but I guess I didn't understand the situation we were in. Matt obviously does not appreciate the humor.
"Oh yeah, I had to do a better job of convincing my idiot younger brother."
"Hey! Don't call me an idiot." The younger me stands up as well. "You agreed to come with me anyways!"
"I agreed because you wouldn't take no for an [[answer]]!"
"After what I did, I deserve to stay in this prison of mine."
The ball of light slightly dims.
<span style="color:yellow">"I see. I'm sorry I couldn't save you."</span>
The world around me begins to darken until it becomes complete darkness. I close my eyes and the darkness begins to wrap me in a blanket. I'm back in my bed now, sleeping.
<span style="color:red">[Prisoner End]</span>"The guilt of what I did crushes me tremendously. It makes me want to forget everything again and stay as the ignorant person I was."
"But,"
"I can't go back to staying trapped in that room. Not after seeing how my dad was affected by this as well. All these years I've only been seeing myself, but for the first time I see how he was suffering too. For his sake and for mine, I need to break out of here."
The ball of light seems to shine brighter at my answer.
<span style="color:yellow">"So let's get you out of here."</span>

On the other side of the door is a completely white void that stretches on forever. I close the door behind me and take a few steps into the void.
Suddenly, the wind starts to pick up, despite there not being any just a moment ago. The winds clash together in front of me, forming a mini tornado. The tornado eventually dissapates, leaving behind a person.
His golden brown hair sways softly as the winds die down.
"Hey Tai." Matt waves. "What do you think you're doing out here?"
"I'm leaving this place."
"You think you can just leave? No, no, no. You may have gotten away with my murder in the real world, but I won't let you escape so easily in here."
Matt smiles as he twists his own neck without his hands, leaving it leaning sideways. The life from his skin begins to evaporate as he floats up in the air. Branches emerge from his back, slithering around like tentacles.
I ready my [[axe]].
<<audio ambience stop>>
<<audio warden loop volume 0.5 play>>Matt goes into attack mode, sending branch tentcles to grab me. I dodge around them and slash any that get too close. I need to get in close to strike him but it's proving to be difficult with all the tentacles flying about.

[[Persist->Persist7]]Matt stares at me with blank eyes. Even more branch tentacles are being sent out now.
[[Persist->Persist8]]I'm starting to get tired. There is no end in sight with these branches.
[[Persist->Persist9]]I persist as much as I can but even the power of not giving up has it's limits. In a moment of fatigue, I mistep. A branch manages to grab a hold of my ankle and repeatedly drives me into the ground.

"What will calming down do for you now?" Matt questions.
In my entire journey, I've realized something. There are no monsters. Everything is made up in here by my guilt and sorrow to punish myself. So I know that who I'm seeing right now isn't the real Matt.
"I need to calm down....so that I can see what you really are!"
"..!?"
[[Concentrate->Concentrate 2]]I focus on Matt. Slowly I begin to peel away at the disguise made by the warden. Matt's skin unravels like an onion and drops on the floor, revealing the true warden of the prison to be myself. The branch tentacles dissolve as well, dropping me to the ground. He stares at me with hate and disgust. This is the side of me that locked the rest of me away.
"You have some nerve trapping me in here." I say to the other me. "Taking away my memories, and forcing me to live in fear."
"We deserved it. This is our punishment for our sin. We killed Matt."
Those three words dig deep in my heart.
"I'm leaving no matter what. This isn't just about us. Think about dad. You've seen how he's been handling things. We have to help him."

The warden starts to hesitate but it still seems like he isn't going to budge.
"Fine, if the only way to get out of here is to kill you. [[I'll do it!]]"I rush towards the warden.

I slowly rise by supporting my arms with my knees. I trudge towards the warden who is also trying to get up but he continues to fall with each attempt.
"...How did you get so strong?....What drove you to go this far?" He asks.
"I had a little help. He helped me face reality."
"Reality? The reality is that we killed our brother."
"I know. But that's not the only reality we have to face. We have to stop being so selfish for once and see how our actions have cause the people we care about to suffer. We have to help them get back on their feet. And then finally, we have to face punishment for our actions. But for all that to happen, first we have to forgive ourself."
