Catnip Corner is a story about a mischievous kitten named Gus. Gus lives with his widow mother and two sisters in a stone cottage deep in the woods. As the story begins, the mother kitten gives her three kittens a gift of new mittens. "Here my lovely kittens, Mother has a gift for you," said mother. "I have knitted each of you a new pair of mittens. You may go outside and play for a while, but you may not get your new mittens dirty, and do not lose them." The kittens get excited and go outside and play. "Okay mother," said Gus. " We won't lose them or get them dirty; we promise." He smiles and runs out the door waving his mittens. [[Gus responds ok mother]]Gus is excited about getting his new gloves. He responds to his mother by agreeing to what she says and tells his mother okay. Gus then runs out the door to go outside and play with his sisters while wearing his new gloves. After playing in the mud, Gus sees that he has gotten his mittens dirty from the mud. "Oh no, we got our mittens dirty, now what?" said Muffin. "We will have to hide them," said Gus. "No, we will have to clean them," said Pixie. [[Hides the mittens]] [[Cleans the mittens]]Gus is excited about being able to go outside and play with his sisters. "Gus and Pixie, it would be fun to fill up that old hole in the backyard with water so we can have mud to make mudpies," said Muffin. Gus and Pixie agree with Muffin and the three kittens make mudpies. Even though the mittens become dirty, Gus is excited and continues to play in the mud. He doesn't want his mother to see the dirty mittens or get upset with him about them being dirty. Gus decides that it would be a good idea to hide the mittens from his mother. He then hides the mittens outside under a bush. [[Keep playing]] [[Cleans the mittens]]The mother cat calls in Gus and the kittens to eat lunch. She sees the mittens hidden behind their backs. The kittens begin to cry because they have made their mittens dirty by wearing them while playing in the mud. "Gus, you and your sisters made me a promise that you would not get your mittens dirty," said mother. "What happened." Sad, Gus bows his head and begins to cry. "I don't know", said Gus. The mother cat is upset with Gus and the kittens about getting their new mittens dirty. She tells Gus and his sisters that they cannot come in and they will not get lunch until they wash and dry their mittens. His mother tells him to get the washtub down and the scrubboard. He finds the washtub hanging on the side of the back porch. His mother helps him by boiling the water for the washtub and pouring it into the tub for Gus. He takes the soap and scrub board and begins to wash the mittens. The mother cat tells him that after he has finished washing the mittens be sure and hang them on the windowsill to dry. [[Continue to play]] [[Goes inside]]The player cannot keep playing so the game is over. [[Start]]One kitten is too excited about being outside and the other two kittens want to go inside. "I don't want to go in right now but you two can go inside now and maybe Mother will give you some cookies and milk," said Gus. Gus continues to play outside making mudpies from the water in the backyard mudhole. Pixie decides to go inside and draw pictures and paint them with her watercolor paints. Muffin decides to take the needlework she and her mother were working on the night before and finish it. [[Continue to keep playing]] [[Goes inside]]After Gus has had a long morning of playing with his sisters in the mud and then having to wash his mittens, he wants to go inside. Gus becomes tired and wants to go to sleep. He decides after the mittens are washed and hung up that he will take a nap while he waits for the mittens to dry. He decides to go inside and asks his mother if can take a nap. "Mother, I am so sleepy, may I take a nap while my mittens dry?" said Gus. “Yes, you may take a nap," said mother. She gives him his lunch first which consists of milk and a peanut butter sandwich with cookies. Gus goes upstairs, climbs into his warm and cozy bed, and falls hard and fast asleep until the afternoon. He wants to wake up and show his mother the clean mittens but the warm bed pulls him to stay asleep a little while longer. [[Wake up from nap]]Upon waking, Gus goes downstairs and wants to tell his mother he is going outside to get his mittens and to show her how clean they are and that she will be proud. Gus looks at the windowsill and sees that his mittens as well as his sisters' mittens are gone. Crying, he runs into the kitchen to tell his mother the mittens are gone, and someone took them off the windowsill. He cannot see his mother in the house anywhere. He investigates the kitchen, and he sees a note that his mother wrote left on the table. He becomes concerned about himself and his sisters being left alone. [[Read the note]]Gus walks into the kitchen. He sees the note and walks over to the table and picks up the note to read it. The note read, Mother has gone to town to shop at the market. I will be back later in the afternoon. Please stay inside and do not go outside for anything and please do not open the door to anyone, especially strangers. Love, Mother. [[Worrying about the mittens]] [[Goes to play]]The kittens start to worry about the missing mittens. "Mother will be angry when she comes home and finds the mittens are gone," said Pixie. “A mitten thief came and broke into the house while we were sleeping and stole our mittens from the windowsill,” said Gus. Pixie and Muffin agree that a thief stole their mittens. Afraid, the kittens search inside and out of the house from top to bottom. Gus even though he knows his mother will be angry, wants to go and play once more. Gus wants to make the right decision but he decides to go and play. [[Agree]] [[Goes to play]] Not caring at the time about their mittens being gone, the kittens decide that is time for themselves to play. Concerned about being alone, Gus decides to read the note to find out where his mother is. After he finds out that his mother is at the market and will not be back until the afternoon, Gus decides to use his sisters paint to paint pictures as well in the living room. [[Read the note]] [[Continue to keep playing]] [[Looks for clues]]The other kittens decide with Gus that it had to have been a mitten thief that broke in and took their mittens. Gus decides to look around the house for clues. He begins looking in the kitchen and then goes towards the living room searching along the way and then begins up the stairs looking as he makes his way to search in the bedrooms. [[Looks for clues]] Pixie begins to look at the bottom of the house for clues. She searches in the kitchen cupboards and in the drawers. She moves over to the stove and looks in the oven. She then looks in the icebox. Muffin goes upstairs to search for clues. She searches under her bed and then looks under Pixie's bed. She searches in their chest of drawers. She looks under her mother's bed and in her chest of drawers. She looks under Gus's bed and in his chest of drawers. Gus goes outside to search for clues. Gus looks all around the yard. He leaves no rock, stone, plant, or blade of grass unturned. [[Looks for clues in the kitchen]] [[Look for clues outside]] [[Done looking for clues]]Gus decides to return to the inside of the house to look for more clues that may have been overlooked by Pixie in the cupboards and drawers of the kitchen. Gus looks in the pantry and, in each cupboard, as well to find clues. He looks under the table and under the kitchen sink. He tells Pixie to look in the living room under the couch and maybe in the wood box by the fireplace. Muffin climbs inside the chimney. He tells Muffin to look in the hall closet and under the bathroom sink. [[Finds all the clues]] [[Keep looking]]Gus decides to go outside walk around to find clues and looks all over the yard, under bushes, in the flower beds, and in the vegetable garden as well. He lifts heavy rocks and looks under them. Also, he looks down in the water well for any clues. He also searches under the front porch. He looks in the tool shed as well as the mailbox. He needs a ladders so he takes the ladder and climbs onto the rooftop of the house to look for clues. He looks inside the family of bluebirds' house. He climbs under the house. He thinks maybe the thief may have hidden them in the washtub or in the clothes basket. (Inventory system to come-three items found outside) [[Finds all the clues]] [[Keep looking]] [[Done looking for clues]] Once the kittens find all the clues and gather them together, they hear sopmeone knocking on the front door. The kittens become frightened by the sound. The kittens then hear a creaking sound coming from the back door. Not knowing what to do and all alone, the kittens begin to cry for fear of the mitten thief. The kittens are afraid to open the door and decide not to. “Mother, we want our mother, help, mother, please, please come, home mother,” said the kittens. The kittens then run to the kitchen and hide in the cupboard under the sink until their mother returns from the market. [[Answer the door]] [[Run and hide]]The kittens after searching the house from top to bottom and inside and out find all the clues. Excited, Gus returns to the kitchen and yells for the other kittens. “Hey, Pixie, hey Muffin, come in the kitchen, we found all the clues,” said Gus. While having all the clues gathered in one of their mother's baskets for the market, he sets the basket on the table. “I think we should dump all the clues on the table and arrange them in order,” said Gus. [[Done looking for clues]] The kitten decides that he needs to keep searching for any more clues that may have been overlooked. Gus continues to look in the cupboards for clues. He looks under the table, hoping that maybe he might have missed some clues. He also looks in the wood box by the stove. He climbs on the step stool and looks at the shelves above the stove and around the kitchen. Frustrated, he returns outside to find more clues. He thinks maybe looking under the house may reveal some clues to the whereabouts of the mittens or even the thief. He looks in the chicken coop and in the hen's nests. He searches in the barn and climbs inside the haystack. He steps in the duck pond with his shoes on. [[Looks for clues in the kitchen]] [[Look for clues outside]] The game is over. [[Start]] Gus decides he needs to open the door in case it is his mother returning home with packages from the market. “Don’t open the door, Gus, remember what Mother said about strangers,” said Pixie. “What if it’s Mother and she cannot open the door because her arms are full,” said Gus. “I’m opening the door.” Gus opens the front door and sees a stranger instead of his mother. Frightened that it is the mitten thief returning to harm him and the other kittens, Gus shivers. “Hello,” said Gus. He hopes by being friendly he will not upset the stranger. “Ha, ha, ha,” said the stranger. Gus and the kittens were even more afraid. The kittens run to the pantry to hide. [[Hello the kitten says]] [[Negative response]]After opening the door to the stranger, Gus says decides to say hello. “Hello,” said the stranger. “How are you doing my dear, and are the other kittens doing well?” Gus is nervous about the stranger being at the door. He does not know how to respond to the stranger. He wants to shut the door and to run and hide where he cannot be found by anyone, especially the stranger. [[The stranger responds]] The kittens become even more frightened after Gus opens the door to the stranger. They want Gus to shut the door and lock it. Although the kittens are afraid, they are also curious about who the stranger is and where he came from, so they decide to wait for Gus to talk to him. What is your name and what part of the forest do you come from?” said Gus. [[Kittens are frightened]] [[Kittens are curious]] The kittens with their curiosity find a place to hide until their mother returns home from the market. A creak comes from the kitchen door. Peeking out the sink cupboard, they see their mother walk into the kitchen with two bags in each hand. “Yay, Mother, you’re home. We have been so afraid since you left,” said the kittens. Gus, hiding in the pantry and hearing all the commotion slowly steps out. “Mother am I so glad to see you,” said Gus. He puts the kettle on the stove and makes his mother a cup of tea. “I want to know why my lovely kittens have been in hiding while I was away,” said Mother. [[Mother comes home]]The kittens become scared and decide to run and hide in the living room. The kittens make it to the couch and climb underneath to hide under there. Gus wants to know more about who the stranger is and where he comes from. “Why don’t you come in and sit at the kitchen table, Mr. Fox, I would like to get to know you better, Mr. Fox,” said Gus. Mr. Fox follows Gus to the kitchen and sits down. The kittens creep out from under the couch and peep into the kitchen to look at Mr. Fox. “Mr. Fox are you going to eat us and Gus for your supper?” said the kittens. “Ha, ha, ha, why absolutely not,” said Mr. Fox. [[Kittens are frightened]] After the mother cat returns home, she finds that a stranger is in the kitchen with her kitten Gus. She becomes frightened and shows concern. Gus then explains to his mother who the stranger is. He tells his mother that the stranger is Mr. Fox, who lives in the forest and how Mr. Fox wants to help Gus and the kittens find the mitten thief and expose who he is. He also wants the thief to return the mittens to Gus and the kittens. [[Gus explains]]Gus decides that Mr. Fox is someone that he can trust and could be a good friend to him and help Gus and his sisters. He explains to Mr. Fox how the mittens were gone and that a mitten thief stole them. Mr. Fox asks Gus to go on a walk with him through the forest to the town. Gus goes with Mr. Fox in hopes to find the clues for the missing mittens. "Gus, I have a riddle for you," said Mr. Fox. "Okay, Mr. Fox," said Gus. "How far can a fox go into the forest?" said Mr. Fox. "I don't know," said Gus. "Halfway into the forest, because the other in the other half he will run out of the forest," said Mr. Fox. "This riddle yearned you a clue, Gus." [[Gus goes on an adventure]]The future gameplay will showcase different fairy tales in Gus's adventure in which he will use the clues that he and the NPCs have found. He will then be able to solve the puzzle and find the answer to who is the character who has been stealing the valuables from the others who live in the town. Gus will be using other parts of the gameplay included from Mr. Fox and Mr. Rabbit and the other kittens found in the game. [[Meet Mr Fox]] [[Meet Mr Rabbit]]This passage will be a negative response which will then make the stranger become angry towards the kittens. (Text to come) [[The stranger responds negatively]] (Text to come). The stranger will then calm down in order to initiate a better response when he notices that he is talking to the kittens. [[The stranger responds]] There are expansion packs to come. Some new adventures and characters will show up to help Gus in his pursuit of the clues that will make for the better or the worst. This is all depending on what choices the player chooses. Gus has the idea of a mitten thief taking the mittens while they were asleep. Gus searches everywhere for clues to the mitten thief.
