This leaves the second in the perfect position to jump on your back. He presses his weight down on your shoulders and you are forced to rebalance or fall. The third sees his chance to move in but is confused about which target to strike. He swings his long arms in an upwards arc that connects with your brother's snout and succeeds in cuffing him from your back. He is too late in imitating you and his windpipe collapses in your grip before he can do the same to you. You maintain eye contact with him for a moment too long as he chokes on the debris of his larynx. You duck out of sight. He will have met WRRYRH and he has the WOOKIEE BOWCASTER. He will have the signature bandolier, slung across his left shoulder. His pelt will be fine and his teeth fearsome. He will be, for all intents and purposes, CHEWBACCA. You must stop him. You are CHEWBACCA. You wait for him to get in range of your grasp. After some time a brother crawls out of the tunnel below. You watch as the machinery in the room interfaces with his mind. From the outside it looks like he is going through something dreadful though you know the process will put him on the same level as you and your descending brother. You hope that he is confused enough to make a sound. He does. A low moan as he spins his head across the room, trying to make sense of the panorama being projected into his optic nerves. The sound alerts your brother above to his presence. You make your move and climb the back side of the spire. There is a purposeful path to the spire and it is not the one you are taking. But while your brother above is taking aim you can swing yourself on to surer footing. The shot rings out. You have a second, maybe two, to leap up the spire and bat the WOOKIEE BOWCASTER from your brother's hands. You are in luck. Your brother is taking aim for a second shot to finish off your brother below when you reach him. As the second quarrel flies through the air you grab the conducting rod in one hand, the bandolier in the other, and you pull them both in opposite directions. Your brother is spilled over the side of the spire. The bandolier is left dangling in your hand. The import of the moment pulses through you from palm to palm. Dry-mouthed, you fasten your signature bandolier over your shoulder and rest the stock of your WOOKIEE BOWCASTER in the crook of your elbow. You are CHEWBACCA now. None could say otherwise. Once it has drilled through your eyes you see the room transformed. The room is now bright and brilliant. The entire wall in front of you presents one flowing image in crystal clarity. The sounds come in fast - you half-recognise voices but can't at first understand what they are saying. You realise in a flash that the images are matching up to the sounds. You are being taught the words for things, and the context in which they belong. You see a tree, a leaf, a vine, then a forest, then a continent, then the world. The world. Kashyyyk. A ball, like a fruit but gigantic. In a flash you are shown what must be its history. You see the seas form then see half of their volume melt into a thick band of cloud. You see the native life creep its way out of the cracks and onto the land, turning into a million kinds of creature. The names of plants and animals tumble through your memory and slot into place. Then you see a sight that burrows through your heart - the trees. There are thousands of kinds of trees in the forest but the Wroshyr stands above them all. Without the Wroshyr there would be no Wookiee. In the wake of this revelation the images and sounds become jumbled and confusing. You don't see the quarrel hit you at supersonic speed or really register that you have fallen to the floor. The next thing you see is your brother stand over you, a thin shape against the light, with your WOOKIEE BOWCASTER pointed at you. The branches gave it to him. He fires.
