You stand near the throne, holding a map of the kingdom. As Lear starts the whole overly-dramatic-to-the-point-of-ridiculessness speech, you wonder if you could ever get a retirment party like his
[[...->king]]He starts talking to his daughters. Dear lord, is he going to have them try to suck up to him for a spot in the kingdom? This is a BAD IDEA. The eldest daughter,
Goneril, starts to [[speak]]. "Sir, I love you more than-Twenty stables in twenty years would produce less horseshit than she just has. Goneril has always hated her father and his household. You can't count the number of times you've been punished (unfairly) because of her. For some reason, the king seems to buy it. He turns to the next oldest, [[Regan.->next oldest]]-in your dear Highness' love." Even more horseshit. Keep it up, and they'll have to get Hercules and a river to clear out the yard. She's just as bad as her sister, but again, the king is happy. Finally, it's [[Cordelia's->youngest's turn]] turn.She says 'nothing'. A hush breaks [[out.]]The king is furious. He disowns Cordelia, although Kent tries to stop him. Lear's response to someone getting in the way of his hissyfit is appearently to banish them. Bye-bye, [[Kent]]You are a servent of Lear, King of Albion. He's been king ever since you can remember, but he's recently decided to retire. Today is the day he'll dividing his kingdom amongst his daughters. Everyone is waiting in the [[courtyard->start]] for the ceremonies to begin.The King of France and the Duke of Burgundy show up, and are promptly told that they can marry Cordelia. Unfortunatly, Burgundy doesn't want her because he won't get any money. France, the sweetie, offers to marry her [[anyway.->cutie]]
Lear storms out of the courtyard, his enterauge trailing after him. As you go, you glimpse Cordelia speaking to her sisters, but you can't quite make out what she's saying. They don't look happy, [[though.]]It turns out that you and your master will be staying with Goneril for a month, along with 99 other knights. All of your friends, and free room and board? [[Whoo-hoo!]]As it turns out, Goneril was not happy with your friend's attitudes. It might have been the drinking.
[[...->drinking]]
You're off to seek your fortune now. You may not have a job, but at least the kingdom is still intact. It's not like there would be a conspirecy that ends up killing about 9 people, and possibly the suicde of another, and the possible hanging of one more, [[right?]]The End.
[[notes]]Nothing?
You must be hearing things. No one would say that to Lear's [[face.]]Nothing.
She said nothing. This will not end well for [[her.->shocked.]]As it turns out, Goneril was not happy with your friend's attitudes. It might have been the drinking.
Or the gambling.
[[...->gambling]]As it turns out, Goneril was not happy with your friend's attitudes. It might have been the drinking.
Or the gambling.
Or maybe it was the whores?
Whatever it was, you are now [[out of a job->fired.]]As you probably figured out, this was the first few scenes King Lear from the perspective of one of Lear's knights. This was also my first time ever making a game, so I'm sorry if it sucks.
My tumblr is bemused-amused-confused if you want to find me there.
