I promise you nothing but what the title implies. This is not a collection of lies, bound tightly and pressed together so close that the words can not scream out that I am deceiving you. I am serious when I tell you the truth of my discovery and hope that you will join me in blessed lycanthropy. But first, a diversion. This is a book, after all, and I am entitled a small bit of space to espouse how I came upon this most magnificent discovery. When I was but a wee lad, I had first heard of werewolves in a context meant to frighten me into obedience. "Do not go outside, my boy, lest the werewolves come to gobble you up!" I was enthralled. I admit, I will date this experience ever further in that the first instinct I had to learn more about this phenomenon was to look up the definition of "werewolf" in the dictionary. I still remember this clearly to this day, so many years past now. I pulled the enormous dark blue book off of the shelf in my father's study when he was out to business and flipped feverishly to the back. I have searched and searched, but I have not found the definition that was printed there in any other dictionary since. The definition was some approximation of "a man who becomes a wolf at the light of the full moon either from a curse or by his own willpower". I suspect that there was a fear I would discover the secret and thus future definitions were amended to leave out the section that suggested one could will themselves into this state of being. I put the dictionary back, but that definition haunted me. I thought of what could possibly trigger this miraculous transformation incessantly. I started to have a coquettish love affair with the moon. When I would be out at night, I would find myself drawn to stare at her beauty. But, coward that I was, I would look away just as quickly. How foolish I was! I knew the solution years ahead of me and I turned away. Looked for alternatives to no avail. Wasted years for naught but a slight breakthrough. But, I settle myself. I have kept you in suspense too long a time now, and thank you for indulging me. It is possible to trigger your own transformation into a werewolf. Thankfully, the bite of another werewolf is completely optional. It can spur on changes faster, of course, but you have found this book because you are desperate or longing. You are ready for a commitment. And so, I present to you the steps to will yourself into becoming a werewolf. Step the First: Stare at the moon for one hour every night Step the Second: Write in a journal about the experience of your change. A deep connection to your emotions and the state of your body is crucial. I have left space in this tome for you to write about your journey. Step the Third and Final: Repeat each day for two fortnights, preferably at least thirty days. You ''MUST'' not miss even a single day or the spell will be broken and you will need to start over again.
