As a general rule, make sure to choose 'Click to launch in fullscreen' in the 'Embed options' section and click the checkbox to enable 'Mobile friendly' under the 'Frame options'.
To force the game to always display in portrait mode on mobile, select 'Portrait' for the orientation. To display in landscape mode, select 'Landscape'. Easy peasy<3
Note: The latest update to the template has styling for both portrait and landscape modes for mobile, so have fun playing around with each to decide which option works best for your game!

A //tickle//.
That’s all you feel, a tiny little //tickle//.
It encircles you, tangling with your hair and limbs, catching underneath the pretty scales adoring your fish tail. It shifts them up at an angle, putting enough pressure that a nerve ending will wiggle in pain but not enough for it to flake off and float away.

<span class="next"><<button "Next" "character pt2">><</button>></span><<if $inquisitiveUncurious gt 50>> You open your eyes, an interrupted rest souring the warm waters. You couldn’t just ignore it, it was constantly touching you, never stopping to take a break.
Waiting to adjust to waking up, you feel your gills flex with anticipation. Something was… wrong, abnormal. And the more you focused on your surroundings, the more you realized that the tickling sensation was a //net//. A brown one, to be exact, it was rough, and itchy, and crafted with some rope that seemed in the beginning stages of fraying.
You cautiously move to inspect it, tucking your tail underneath of you, heavily aware of the fact that there’s a sleeping Morgan next to you cuddling with the seabed. Anxiety swam into your bones, fins stood on edge, your heart started pounding like the rhythm of the tides. This was new territory, just a quick little area for the next few days for you and Morgan. Flashes of your cozy pink oyster ran through your mind, now suddenly missing the comforting embrace of your undersea sanctuary.
But now there’s a //net//.
One that wasn’t here when you swam your nightly pirate check, and one that was purposely designed for your kind. The sinister motive behind it made the water feel more tight, like you were choking on it.
This wasn’t a regular fishing line, this was thick instead of thin, this was dangerous instead of a simple play-thing used to create accessories, and this was now sitting ontop of you and your daughter- who lay blissfully unaware of the impending doom.
<<elseif $inquisitiveUncurious lt 50>> You don’t let it bother you, at all, quite frankly. You push and bury the feeling to the back of your head. Your rest remains untouched and unbothered and your body continues to remain unreactive. That is until the fidgeting beside you becomes more urgent, and you don’t realize Morgan is calling your name until she’s already shaking your shoulders in a rushed fashion.
“What is it, my little sun?” You respond groggy, senses beginning to heighten at a slow pace.
“Somethings over us.” The meek whisper next to you says a silly sentence, and you would nearly laugh in disbelief if it wasn’t for the anxious look morphing your daughter's face. Everything at once immediately becomes clear and vibrant, when taking in your surroundings you would finally notice the entrapment of rope caught over you.
Eyes narrow in uneasiness as Morgan clings to the side of your body, pink tail swung over your lap. Hushed whispers of soft words flutter around her like butterflies, your main concern now being to calm down the frightened girl.
“<<if $gender is 'woman'>> Mommy <<elseif $gender is 'man'>> Daddy <<elseif $gender is 'person'>> Nobby <</if>> are we stuck?”
“We aren’t trapped, it’s just a little protection shield I put up last night!”
“You swear?”
“Pinky promise, sweetie. And you know I never break my promises.” You lightly tap her nose, a stressful breath leaving your body once you realize the distraction work. A gleeful smile stretched across her face, replacing the one terrified one. <</if>>\
<<if $irritableEasygoing gt 50>> Fingers move to swat away at the itching irritation, only to get the attempt ceased by falling into contact with a rough and patchy texture. Your fingers trip into empty spaces, like separate holes of some sort.
Slight confusion graces your features, stubbornness powering through as you refuse to let this bother your beauty rest. Eyes stay shut, head still peacefully positioned on the seabed.
You tug,
and tug,
and //tug//.
It doesn’t move. At all, actually. Not an inch.
Now you’re a little irritated, not wanting to sit yourself up to see the inevitable foe you’re up against. Fins glide across the sandy floor, having to be used in a silent and cautious way to avoid waking the sleeping child next to you. The worst thing to happen would be for Morgan to see if they’re potentially trapped or in danger, nothing could prepare you for that.
So you avoid brushing her, and instead scrap up against the.. //net//. It catches you off-guard, and immediate worry swims into your bones. Gills stand up on edge as you now inspect the entrapment that seems to have befallen you. The one time you decide to sleep somewhere else besides home is the one time your nightly pirate checks seem to be of waste.

Distress for your baby overtook every sense as you hurriedly moved her from the side of you to sitting on your lap, one hand against her back whilst the other one spreads to cradle her head safely.

<span class="next"><<button "Next" "ch1 pg5">><</button>></span>You picked up a part of the net, trying to gauge how strong or weak it could be. This was not a good situation to be in at all, especially with someone so special nearby. Being caught led to different things, none of which were inherently better than the other.
Not escaping would mean either being killed and used for materials or being held captive and forced to scent out goods. The instinctual ability merpeople have to sniff out pearls, gold, and any other hidden treasures has always been their greatest flaw and strength.
You used it once or twice to help get decor for Morgan and yours body, but rarely did you go out of your way to hunt down what had sunk in the ocean. Merpeople, while they do actively steal from passing ships for crafting items, have an unspoken rule of never taking from the tragedies that they witness the Gods wreak havoc on. It’s seen as the lowest of the low.
That’s why most merpeople stray from any potential catching zones, being forced to break internal and cultural rules was a deed not wished upon any fish. It left them struggling to handle the weight on their shoulders, and it was why you were currently trying so hard to find a weak spot.
